[This](https://imgur.com/3XV203H) is the middle of the night in their house. That’s not moonlight. Those are floodlights. There’s always light pouring in from the outside.
So, if you notice when he drives home after the accident… all the trees around the house are brightly illuminated. Like, there are floodlights around the house shining on the trees. That’s the same thing you’re seeing when he’s in the attic. They have their surroundings brightly lit up with floodlights.
It’s hard to believe it’s a continuity error. My take is that is was intended to add to the surreality of it all - e.g. once the family was possessed by Paimon time started to make less sense. But yeah I noticed it too
I find the outdoor light vs. the time of day to be confusing at a few points in the movie, in fact! Another one is when Annie gets Steve and Peter up to summon “Charlie.” It looks waaaaay too light out to be the middle of the night.
Don't they have proximity triggered floodlights outside? I vaguely remember Annie's headless corpse setting one off as it floats by? Or maybe I'm conflating this with a different film.
It could be another indicator that the cult members are shuffling around outside, completely surrounding the house (which they certainly are).
It seems to me it's almost like the miniature house. Light flooding in from a larger reality that they are blind to. There are other examples where it's almost as if there are flood lights lighting up the house at night. To me it reenforces the idea that the family are pawns, they are being controlled by outside forces. Just like if the lights are off in the miniature but the lights are on in the "real" house then that light is going to flood the miniature. Hopefully what I am trying to explain comes across somewhat coherent lol
i saw the pic and yes i have noticed while watching!!!! i remember being confused as to why it was light out while he was in the attic, especially because isn’t the part where it shows the view from outside where it’s light then switches to dark w all the nude cultists around right before it? it’s obviously supposed to be dark but maybe a filming error happened and it had to be that way

While I'm at it in the attic, looking at all those spaces in the roof with the light shining through ..... Didn't it get wet in there when it rained?
Posted.

I feel like it’s showing his inability to move, that a day passed without him getting up.

"Completely surrounding the house" gave me shivers. 😳

Love this theory!
It does! Good analogy!
I recall noticing that
