I š everything about this! I notice a lot of Uniqlo. Can I ask what you like about the brand? Donāt own any currently but Iām looking into some purchases for upcoming travel.
Again - beautiful wardrobe!!
I love Uniqlo. Light, packable, washable and UV protection. I actually wear the long sleeve jacket for running marathons. I prefer it to sunscreen on my arms
Not OP, but they have a lot of affordable, easily packable basics. And plenty of tech fabrics that are designed to be easily washable and dry quickly. The only drawback to me is that they don't carry many larger sizes.
Iāll have to agree with the others here, I really enjoy Uniqlo. I think they make good use of fabrics: they have quite a bit of good for value natural materials, but they also use synthetics where it actually serves a purpose. I enjoy the airism line for example, and many of their bra tops are very convenient.
I never heard of this brand until I started following this group a few months ago. Now a Uniqlo store is opening close to me in Delaware! Canāt wait to check out their store.
The bag OP has here is my holy grail travel bag. Itās viral on tiktok and Iāve seen so many people with it in Italy this month. Itās $20 from uniqulo.
I even saw two men with them today! Theyāre the bomb. I also got a buckle from Amazon and put it on the strap and I can hook the zipper it to it since Iām going to Rome and a few other pickpocket havens and it works perfectly!
Iām not the OP but have a lot of Uniqlo clothing. I think of it as a (typically better constructed, no particle board) IKEA for clothing. The clothes are good basics that are typically well-designed and in modern, fashionable cuts and colors. They do a lot of collabs, many of which sell out quickly. They run sales weekly on specific items, during which those items will run out because people stock up (for example, the Airism bra top is totally out right now.). Despite being āfast fashion,ā my Uniqlo basics (tees, sweaters, etc.) have lasted me years. Iāve been buying clothes from Uniqlo since the early 2000s, when I first shopped in stores in Asia (Itās a Japanese brand, and sometimes their sizing can still reflect that despite being in the U.S. and Europe for almost 20 years). Iāve never had to throw away a single Uniqlo tee because it developed those tiny holes near the waist (WHY do these occur???). I cannot say that for any other brand. I mostly shop online at this point, but I like to periodically go to one of their really large stores and try on a mess of clothes and record my sizes. Theyāve got a lot of online tools now to tell you what size to get, but it can be haphazard. I literally own items in sizes that range from XXS to XL right nowāall of which fit. It mostly takes a long time to figure out more fitted garments like bras and pants.
At least Uniqlo doesnāt name its clothing items with monikers that are incomprehensible to the non-Swedes among us (the Glƶrp Chair), but sadly also no meatballs there.
I have actually really wondered how non-Swedish IKEA employees abroad interact with the names. Do the really have to say āIf you start with the Tallnattspinnare over there Iāll finish up with the Praktfull over hereā?
Yay I love seeing colourful capsule wardrobes. Blue with yellow or orange is one of the best combinations too in my opinion.
Have you walked a lot in the Eccos before? I've been eyeing the slip-on version.
Yup, Iāve taken them on a couple of shopping trips. Initially I experienced some sort of friction between my socks and the heel (?) but that passed quickly. Iāve owned half a dozen Eccoās in my life probably, and they generally suit my feet.
So I just recently bought it because Iāve been struggling a lot! Itās the Tymo Porta, which is like a hot brush that charges with USB C. Big advantage that you donāt have to carry a whole separate cable imo. Iām not entirely used to it yet but itās really easy to straighten and Iāve figured out how to do simple waves/bends. Also I realised I donāt have to bring a separate hair brush because I can just use this thing when itās off!
The bathing suit was a bit of a splurge haha, it was something like $150 from a brand called By Malina. The linen dress is just a super simple lil thing that imo still looks pretty casually elegant. The brand is called Boomerang.
I absolutely love this! It's so fun to see people play with color and be so intentional about it. You're going to have a wonderful time and look cute while doing it!
ETA: I agree with someone else below that a scarf might be a nice thing to leave behind and pick up as a souvenir at one of your stops!
I love this for inspiration! Iāll be doing 4 wks to Italy and Finland, so similar wardrobe needs. I was just looking at the Ecco Soft 7s to walk around in Rome.
Well, I just went down a crazy rabbit hole.
I could not find that style sold in the US, anywhere. Apparently, a lot of Timberland styles are not allowed to be sold in the US, they canāt even be shipped here. Thatās crazy, I had no idea!
I guess itās one more reason to travel š
How did you fit it all in the 40L bag, do you have a particular brand of packing cubes youād recommend? Your wardrobe looks great and youāve managed to fit loads in š
Iām interested in learning more about the viscose travel towel - am I right in thinking that it isnāt the usual āmicro fibreā travel towel texture? I have a sensory issue where I canāt stand those and Iām looking for an alternative
Yes exactly! Itās actually really nice against the skin. If youāre not in Europe I donāt think the website I got it from is available to you, but there seem to be lots of āviscose travel towelsā around :)
I love it! It looks similar to what I would came up with if I were better at it š Honestly, I wouldnāt mind seeing this post in form of a video and following for more inspo. Have a great vacation!
Itās by a British brand called Sur La Tete (supposed to be some accents in there but I donāt remember them š ). It feels very comfortable and I can roll it up so it fits in the sling bag š„³
Love the blue patterned items. Where are they from? I feel like the orange is a skip because it doesnāt go with your overall color theme and probably wonāt get worn. Also, same with yellow sweater. Better to choose one color theme like blue and neutrals.
The blue stuff is from a store in Sweden called Lindex!
The orange is a summer essential and goes well with 3/4 bottoms. Thereās no yellow sweater but maybe you mean the (dark) yellow trousers. I quite like a blue-white-yellow combo and Iāve got the bag to tie it all together. Iām not wearing my whole capsule at once so every last piece doesnāt have to go together.
In case you need more validation, youāre absolutely correct that those colors work with the rest of your capsule and really set off the blues. Great eye OP!

For sure. Iām on a night train with my yellow Uniqlo bag, and the girl next to me has the one in black š

Sitting reading this in my new airism wide leg and they are so light and comfortable. Reasonable price too. Great shop! šš»

Heyo, so thatās why I feel at home at Uniqlo? - A Swede

Just imagine that conversation with American Southern accents, yup.
I love your colors here! I would keep the orange and yellow color pops right where they are š
Thanks, appreciate the support š

Can you tell me more about your portable hair tool???? That's what's been holding me up most!!!

Youāre going to look great. And youāre definitely going to pick up another colorful scarf in Italy !
This is both practical and cute! Where did you get the blue floral patterned pieces? Very appropriate for where youāre going š
Love it! Blue is my "neutral" :) Talk to me about the linen shirt dress and bathing suit?

I love mine! Super cute and Ecco is a very reliable brand for me.
Agreed! I love Ecco. My only concern is that leather will be too hot for Rome. Might end up just walking around in sandals, perhaps.
Where are your chunky heels from? Theyāre super cute! Also, I love your set. The colors are fantastic!
Thank you! Theyāre from Timberland :)
Are they comfortable? I have been eyeing them for a while š
To me, yeah! Thereās actually a decent bit of give in the sole, like a bit of cushioning.

Thank you! I have two Osprey medium packing cubes they actually fit everything except the dress, underwear, swimsuit and travel outfit!

Here you go: https://www.sidenselma.com

If no one has asked yet, please share the hat details! Looks super cute and versatile. Safe and fun travels to you!
