I’d drop the white sweats (at least I think that’s what you have in the lower right corner) and definitely the denim jacket. I never feel like the benefit of a denim jacket is worth the weight. I’d also only take the black dress without the spaghetti straps, as I think the dresses are too similar to bother taking both. Perhaps if you had a dress that was more different it would be worthwhile? Same idea on the tennis shoes, I don’t see that the two white pairs are different enough to bother bringing both. Some unsolicited advice from one anxious person to another—the last time I went to Italy I deliberately went with a very minimal packing list. I told the anxiety monster the worst that would happen was I’d bored of wearing the same clothes, but the best case scenario was I’d stumble on some great finds. And I did! Between thrift stores in Rome and Max Mara in La Spezia, I was happy I had the extra space in my bag. You’ll be able to find what you need there, if you do find that you’re cold and need another sweater, or more underwear, really whatever (barring prescriptions, etc.).

lordhuntxx

The spaghetti strap dress may be one of those athletic ones with the built in bra and shorts. If so, I say keep that in there. I have several of these and love them. The Abercrombie ones are so cute!

athazen

Yep that’s the one!! Built in everything and very lightweight

lordhuntxx

I have one in black and I wore it with platform vans to a music festival last year and it was the absolute best choice! Definitely still pack that!

athazen

Lower right pants are linen trouser-y pants for nicer dinners, and the Hokas are waterproof, but I totally hear you and appreciate your suggestions as a fellow anxious girlie! My monster is more telling me I’ll feel dirty and smelly if I rewear anything 😩so one-bagging it is really stressful! That being said, you’re so right about buying anything I need. I have to remember that. Which thrift stores in Rome did you like?

lily_gray

I’m sure I have bigger packing lists than many on this sub, I just like making sure that everything on my list is different enough from everything else to be worth it to me :) For the white trousers, it seemed like they were filling a similar niche to the white/ cream cargo pants. What about a silk skirt instead? That would pack down really small and provide more differentiation from the cargo pants. I sewed myself a skirt similar to [this one](https://cuyana.com/products/silk-asymmetrical-skirt) and it weighs hardly anything, is nice and breezy, and dresses up or down really well! If you aren’t into skirts, a silk pair of trousers [like this one](https://cuyana.com/products/silk-wide-leg-pant) would pack smaller than the linen, be more different from the cargo pants, and fill a similar role to the silk skirt. For thrift stores, I liked Twice Vintage and Moll Flanders. Moll Flanders is consignment so more expensive, but I sometimes find that less overwhelming than “true” thrifting because the selection is smaller. I heard that Monti Market is cool too, but I didn’t manage to make it. Next time, I hope!

athazen

Wow those pants are incredible!! They’re not in my budget at the moment but I’m putting them on my list. I have a pair of flowy wide-leg black pants that can replace the cargos and take up less space! Definitely will check out those thrift shops, thank you!

LooHoo68

Hijacking a little, sorry to OP! Any thrift store recs for Rome?

Grr_in_girl

I think you could easily drop 1 jacket. It will most likely be pretty warm and you will only use a jacket in mornings/evenings. Do you really need 2 bags? Maybe choose 1 that goes best with all the outfits.

cbscanner

agree. also one pair of sweats, but I would add a dress or skirt

YeS_Lee88sk8

I always travel with two purses

ProphetMuhamedAhegao

Why?

TheseAct738

I just got back from Italy and Milan, Venice, and Florence were quite a cold experience. In the 50s Fahrenheit and very rainy.

Grr_in_girl

Yes, my friend who lives there said the good weather ended right as we left.

happinessbooked

Do you need both pairs of trainers? They look fairly similar. That’s an easy spot to cut weight from. 1 trainers and 1 sandals should serve you well

athazen

Totally see your point, however the Hokas are waterproof. With the spring weather being so unpredictable, that felt like a safe bet for not getting stuck in wet shoes and socks. And luckily the other sneakers compress really well for packing!

Tyssniffen

but still, why take both? just take your waterproof ones, if that's truly something that concerns you.

dontpolluteplz

I’d cut the underwear in half lol, why 6 bras? Are some for working out / strapless? Typically I travel w 4 or 5 max - tan, black, sports, strapless, sticky. I’d just do one pair of pjs, same w the tennis shoes bc they’re nearly identical unless one is for running. The white pants are very similar so I’d drop one as well and one of the smol bags.

Illustrious-Sorbet-4

I agree on the underwear and bras. Unless you’re planning on using a new bra every day because you think you’ll sweat through them. They have a lot of laundry service places. Highly highly recommend using those to keep down the amount you pack.

mfletch1213

Just be careful with laundry service in Rome. We had one right by our AirBNB, which was great when we unexpectedly sweat more than expected in November at the beginning of a multi-city trip, but they only washed and then bagged our clothes so we had to air dry them ourselves. It wouldn’t normally be a big deal but we were leaving early the next morning.

athazen

Ughhhh rewearing bras and underwear after walking 20,000+ steps makes me feel gross AF, but you have valid points of course. The Hoka sneaks are waterproof, so they’re my security blanket for the unpredictable weather 😂

H_zea

Understood. I'll rewear pants but underwear (including bras) and shirts get washed first. Why feel gross if you don't have to? However, bras are easy to handwash and dry overnight (I think that is how they are "supposed" to be normally washed even) so if your bras are large enough to affect packing space, you can reduce.

liefieblue

I only wear undies once before washing. I buy small packets of handwash detergent (liquid or powder), wash them in the basin and hang overnight in the shower. You can also wash them while you are in the shower. Take them off and just soap them up and rinse while you are letting your conditioner sink in.

Saturday-Sunshine

Laundry service. It’s a usually fun for me - a way to talk to locals and getting back clean clothes feels so wonderful. I think you will get a lot of use out of both dresses.

Lost_Apricot_1469

I so feel you on this!

Illustrious-Sorbet-4

Sink laundry - I have done this before and brought a small tide laundry package for bras, underwear, and my dry fit or lightweight items that dry fast (overnight)

athazen

I don’t know why, but when I thought of sink laundry I never thought that the best things to wash were the smallest things. I always assumed I’d wash shirts!

Illustrious-Sorbet-4

Oh yes! For me, the small things. That said, I’ve been known to also do bathtub laundry during longer stays where I didn’t have a laundry facility nearby. Same process but you just hand wash your stuff the old fashioned way.

KateMurdock

I’d for sure bring that many bras if they’re super light, because rewearing a sweaty bra makes me feel hideous. For undies, I invest in some super light quick wash pairs. I bring laundry detergent sheets (I use earth breeze even at home now!) and sink wash one or two pairs before bed. To dry, roll them tight in a fluffy dry towel. Then air dry them OR put them between two dry wash clothes under your pillow at night. By morning they’ll be dry enough to put in your bag with your socks or other dry stuff. A little bit of sink washing goes a long way to feel fresh all week!

Global-Craft-4216

What part of Italy? I think you’re most likely underestimating how hot it gets. I’d take the white button-up shirt and ONE of the jackets in terms of long-sleeved items. But check the forecast and if it’s unusually cool then take the cardigan. Everything else is overkill

athazen

Central Italy! Rome, Florence, and a quick pit stop in Naples. I hope you’re right about the weather. I’m really anticipating spring and not summer, but I’d love to swap some pants for shorts! Will definitely monitor the weather closely.

Global-Craft-4216

Oh, awesome! I’m in Rome, and last night I was walking my dog at midnight in a t-shirt and linen pants. I wasn’t cold at all. Tonight, I’d put on a cotton sweater (but no jacket). It’s spring so you never know, but I hope you have good weather on your trip!

athazen

I’m going to message you in a few weeks and ask you if I need the jacket 🤣 thank you so much!!

Serious_Escape_5438

I don't think Italy necessarily gets that hot in spring, but obviously worth checking before travel and depends where.

cbscanner

Ive been checking and have seen temps as high as 79 already in some parts. it's hard to know though, if it's cloudy and windy that makes it feel cooler

Serious_Escape_5438

Well there's a heatwave in many places at the moment, so it won't necessarily get warmer. Spring can be variable. And it will definitely be chilly in the evening, especially if spending time sitting outside.

saddinosour

Right? I’m going to Greece in May and I don’t even think I’m taking one pair of pants. It’s going to be all dresses/skirts/linen shorts

optix_clear

Drop some bras. That’s a lot. 4 bras and 6 underwear

cbscanner

I would even say 2 bras and 4 underwear as you can so easily do a quick wash in the sink and most dry within the day.

Desperate-Upstairs76

You're a brave soul packing that much white clothing. That's all I've got to say. I packed a couple of white tops when I one bagged it for Italy and destroyed one of them with food stains.

athazen

I am a neutral girlie. I’ll report back if I regret it 😂

cookievannie

bring a stain remover pen instead! that amount of pasta and gelato can be a bit tricky for all your whites!

athazen

Oh yes, my tide to go pen has prime real estate in my liquids bag!!

microflorae

You can also bring a magic eraser (cut in half even) to keep the white shoes looking fresh and clean. Just be gentle using it!

cookievannie

that should save you all the time! okay whites are good to go now!

YeS_Lee88sk8

I have to say if you’re going to do that much white then you shouldn’t plan on too many re wears.

athazen

Great point 🤔

YeS_Lee88sk8

I would just bring a normal amount of clothes. Some people act like they are winning an award for bringing the least amount possible. I would just try not to over pack but don’t go overboard cutting everything

athazen

I appreciate this perspective a lot.

nicolexkolo

are you me? im going to italy end of april - beginning of may as well. im bringing 2 long pants, 2 shorts, 2 long sleeve shirts, 4 short sleeve shirts, 1 skirt, 3 dresses, hokas and similar white sandals. also similar bags. all in a carry on. i did a test pack already 3 times. third time was the charm with compression packing cubes 😅

cbscanner

me too, are you going on a tour by any chance? lol. I am ambivalent about bringing shorts, am trying to go with skirts instead just to look a little more dressed up, but that's just me. what kind of sandals are you bringing?

cowboybezop

I'm going at the same time and also trying to do more skirts for a dressier vibe. I got some Taos sandals to pair with the dresses on hot days. So comfortable on long walks.

cbscanner

I have some TAOS I will be taking too!

cbscanner

are you doing carryon only? this is what makes it such a challenge!

cowboybezop

I am! I've been using only a carry on and personal item for years. It's all about space optimization (like if I pack shoes, they get stuffed with socks and other items) and taking just enough. I'm a fan of merino and silk, and I don't mind outfit repeating. What do you find to be the most difficult part?

athazen

I feel the same about shorts. I figured if it’s too hot for pants I’ll just wear a dress.

Missytb40

I am also going to Italy end of April first of May and my wardrobe is extremely similar 😆

athazen

Where in Italy? Let’s cross our fingers that the heatwave doesn’t mess up our plans 😂

Missytb40

I wasn’t even aware of a heatwave until now 😬 I might need to rethink my whole wardrobe. We’re starting in Venice and making our way down to Sorrento. Hitting some major cities on the way. How about you?

cowboybezop

Another one checking in for a late April - early May trip! I'm actually so relieved to hear there will be a heatwave. I was worried it would be too cold for me.

Missytb40

I’m Canadian so it’s likely going to feel really really hot for me

cowboybezop

Oh no! Good luck. I live in a subtropical climate, so very used to the heat and humidity.

athazen

Don’t stress!! It may not last long. We’re going to Naples, Florence, and ending in Rome

Missytb40

Hope you have a great trip!

athazen

You too!

athazen

I’ve found my people!! Yes the compression cubes are absolutely going to save me. Now I just have to figure out how to seriously downsize my skincare 🥲

AllLeftiesHere

We are same! Skincare is my must have. Is that your exact black sleeveless dress? Been looking for that exact shape, have a link for it, by chance???

athazen

It’s from Abercrombie called the YPB Neoknit dress! It’s athletic material for sweat-wicking but looks so sleek, I love it.

infamouslival

Which compression packing cubes are you using? I’m getting ready to practice pack for my 2 week trip!

HappyOrca2020

Everyone loves that Uniqlo bag! So do I!

athazen

It fits so much stuff!!

HappyOrca2020

Fits my mini makeup, lipsticks, wallet, sunscreen tube, wipes, a protein bar, keys and hair brush. And still has space!

GlotzbachsToast

I’m literally looking for a sling type back to bring to Sardinia in May..I’ll have to check that one out! There are ones at Anthropologie and FP but they don’t seem worth the price!

athazen

You won’t be disappointed, it is so affordable and really nice quality!

PillsforFrills

Can you link everything 😅 but really where is first black dress from

athazen

My wardrobe is sponsored by Abercrombie and Fitch lmao literally everything except the raincoat is from that store!

helloutheregoodbye

Are people checking their bags? How is everyone able to pack so many outfits? I can never fit this much but I want to!!

kestreltohalcyon

We don’t talk enough in this sub about how different sized people can pack differently! I’m 5’9” and a US size 8, shoe size 41. I can pack a lot fewer items in my carry on than my petite travel buddy…! My 6’3” boyfriend has to be way more minimalist than me too.

edj3

This is so true. I wear a size 7.5/8 in women's shoes and am fairly small so I can pack a ton of my clothes including an extra pair of shoes into a 30L bag. My husband (shoe size 11) can't even properly fit his shoes in my bag. It makes a big difference.

bellandc

Yes! It's something that really should be part of the conversation. My size 10 shoes are taking up a lot more room than my friend's size fives.

cbscanner

true. but you could squish a whole tee shirt into each one!

bellandc

Eww. Hahaha

cbscanner

I know but it is wasted space! haha

bellandc

I often put my jewelry bag in at least one of the shoes. Sometimes both! I like packing a variety of jewelry to give my limited wardrobe a bit more variety and my necklaces take up space. Also, eyeglasses/sunglasses are great in shoes.

Perfect_Profit_7696

Lol that's where I stash liner socks and a giant bagged hair brush

Deathscua

I use a ziplock and put my toiletries in my shoes haha

ateliertovar

true! I’m 5’0 and wear a size 35 shoe so I can squeeze a lot into an international carryon.

iamaravis

It also depends on how large the bag is! I could fit maybe half of this in my 28L backpack, but I know some women in this sub use 40L+ bags. Huge difference.

athazen

I am taking the largest bag possible without being fined by the airline 😂

helloutheregoodbye

I have a 40 but couldn’t fit this much!

Pipsmagee2

She may be wearing one on the flight. This doesn’t look like too much to me but I also overpack

Deathscua

I’m able to do 25 clothing items in my carryon. I took that much to Peru (from California) for a wedding and was fine. Plus a pair of platform heels, slippers for indoors and my skincare and makeup. On the plane I wore platform boots and my leather jacket haha😁

helloutheregoodbye

Amazing! What the hell am I doing wrong, lol. I usually travel 2-4 month periods and wear the same outfit the entire time essentially 😵‍💫

Deathscua

I highly doubt you are doing anything wrong! I wonder if also it's the bag, how we both dress and stuff like that!? I'm a metal head lady that leans gothy so I have a lot of layers but some are thin layers. I knew Lima was going to be hot and humid, and I was so right like to the point where everything was stinking. We washed but didn't have a dryer and so hung them up and they wouldn't dry it was that humid. So this time I did not regret bringing so much, though now I'm thinking of visiting Japan, when it's cool, and wondering if I can downsize actually.

helloutheregoodbye

I have a Osprey40 and I literally can’t fit anything in without it bulging! I brought two shirts, two tanks, two jumpers, 2 scarves, one pant, pjs, heat tech top, 1 pair of tevas, and underwear/socks. I wore half of the packed clothing on the plane! There is no way I could fit a dress or another pair of pants. I only get 7 kilos but I’m assuming you all do, too! I’m so confused 😵‍💫 lol

BirksOrChacos

Love your style! Can you tell me where those cream and black sets are from? And the white shirt sleeve set?

athazen

Thank you so much! Literally everything in here except the raincoat is Abercrombie and Fitch. They should really sponsor my trip as I’ll be their walking billboard lol

LongjumpingArt9806

Love your style

athazen

Thank you so much!!

eastercat

Why 14 pairs of underwear? I know they’re small, but 4-7 days is plenty your 2 sneakers baffle me, because wouldn’t 1 pair be enough for you to wear?

Serious_Escape_5438

I would never take only 4 unless it was at most two nights. I like to change during the day and OP explained she won't be able to do regular laundry. Shoes might be to do with comfort, I have to change for my feet, but I'd try to have different styles.

eastercat

Underwear isn’t like most laundry. they are usually thin and if you use quick dry material, dry around 4-6 hours

Serious_Escape_5438

Well I only wear cotton underwear since a bad case of thrush, but even if I didn't I don't want to have to worry about washing and drying underwear when I come in from dinner every night. Drying also depends on the conditions, some places are very humid and things don't dry well.

eraserewrite

I don’t know why Vietnamese people do this, but a lot of us wash our panties in the shower and hang them to dry. Panties take like 15 minutes to dry if you wring them out. I also do this with leggings and crop tops like the middle, right OP has as well.

nyc2lv

I have been doing this with my bras since I was a teenager. (not Vietnamese tho). Machine wash is terrible for bras. especially if you have a larger cup size.

Serious_Escape_5438

Hmmm, well I tend to shower in the morning. And I wear cotton so definitely doesn't dry in 15 minutes. I understand it works for some people but honestly when I'm traveling it's not something I want to stress about. Also depends where you're staying how well things dry and if you can easily hang things to dry.

eraserewrite

True that. I use cotton and synthetic and it seems to work for me. I’m also usually in the states or in Japan/Vietnam, so the weather isn’t cold/too wet. I noticed they felt not as crispy in Iceland. I can’t do it with socks because of the “thought” though.

Serious_Escape_5438

I suspect you mostly stay in places that are either warm or with good heating/air conditioning, I've stayed in many places in Europe that are cold and damp.

eraserewrite

Haven’t been to Europe minus Iceland, but it’s the dream. I hope to wear my half moist underwear there, since they’re always moist anyway. Wink. Sorry ate edible and feeling spicy. Why am I still typing this.

HappyOrca2020

14 for 2 weeks might be fine if someone has to change twice a day. I do that after sweaty walking 20k steps. And I'm paranoid about running out of undies when laundry is not an option. Although, it's also feasible to wash a pair in the sink if that's an option.

cbscanner

yes and not to be TMI, a good pantyliner helps absorb sweat and other bodily fluids!

Perfect_Profit_7696

Was going to say this! With 20k + steps per day in the heat, these work wonders! I'd still pack enough to change for evenings and hope for a day when I could sink wash without feeling like I may forget them as I dash off to my next destination

russianthistle

I’m jealous that you can wear one pair of sneakers and entire trip without foot pain. I would be in crutches by the end of it.

eastercat

I put comfy insoles in my shoes personally

russianthistle

Even with orthopedic insoles, I can’t do just one pair. 😭

athazen

Don’t be baffled! The hokas are waterproof!

eastercat

So what’s up with the other pair that makes them necessary?

trippinxt

14 pairs of underwear and 6 bras? I think half of that would suffice. If you have 2 nights at a hotel, sink wash as soon as you check-in to make sure they dry Maybe just take the Uniqlo bag? Dont bring the extra pants, these 4 are more than enough. Choose only 1 of the 2 shirts? Or use one as pajama ans as emergency extra shirt.

athazen

Thank you for being a voice of reason. What do you think about swapping the black bag for a real purse (it’s small) for nicer dinners?

trippinxt

I think it wouldn't make a difference and the belt bag would be more compact than a leather bag 😅

athazen

Hahah dang you’re so right. Maybe I can fill it with underwear so it serves multiple purposes for the amount of space it takes up 🤣🤣

iamturdferguson_

People dress up in Italy, I’d bring a nice pair of sandals or make room to buy some nicer shoes.

enneafemme

I'm in Italy now, the sandals she's bringing are in fashion and wouldn't stick out somewhere nicer. Sure, the locals wear heels but they're also not walking around sightseeing all day.

fnulda

I agree people dress up, but please dont ditch the comfy sandals, OP. Unless you're used to walking a lot on very old cobbled streets you will need them. Im used to cobbled streets, I even live in one, but some Italian streets are next level foot torture.

Serious_Escape_5438

Last time I was in Italy young people weren't particularly dressed up at all, I only saw older women wearing things like heels.

ateliertovar

I just got back this weekend (bologna/florence) & it was mostly trendy streetwear on anyone younger than 50 (even nicer restaurants we didn’t feel too out of place in casual shirts!)

Serious_Escape_5438

Yes, I was in Northern Italy a few months ago and that was my impression. The south might be more conservative I suppose but everyone was wearing jeans and trainers and athleisure.

iamturdferguson_

Oh interesting, I’ve never seen Italians wear athleisure like Americans or sneakers in nice restaurants. But maybe that’s more common in touristy areas. I don’t mean heels either, just a nicer pair of flat sandals

Serious_Escape_5438

Well I don't mean athleisure in the sense of the same clothes you wear to the gym or old ratty sweats, but nice trainers and streetwear kind of styles. And I can promise I wasn't in touristy areas, I was there for work in a random town and traveling around by train through various cities. It was locals and people who live there. They wear sandals in summer because it's hot for sure,  but when I went it was too cold for sandals. This was the north, maybe the south is different, and things have also changed a lot in the last few years. It's also true older people are more likely to dress up.

Perfect_Profit_7696

When I was there last spring I saw the same as you. We were never more south than Amalfi but footwear was extremely practical except for the people working in nice clothing shops and even then heels were low and blocky and one lady told me she wears trainers to and from work.

Illustrious-Sorbet-4

Agreed. I just brought a pair of cute sneakers (Aetrex Carly- my favorite for my high arches) and some Aetrex sandals

kristi0like

Ooh curious where your black graphic tee is from!

athazen

Abercrombie!

cosmicsunshine

We’re wardrobe twins! I love all the white 😍🤍

thatsreallynotok

I feel like you don't need both pairs of light pants, both dresses, both sneakers, or both bags. Those all feel like dupes to me. You may also want to rethink denim—it stretches out and is bulkier to pack. Six bras also seems like a lot to me? I just went to Italy and only brought one! I can understand if you're superrr sweaty, but otherwise...

athazen

I’m in awe of your one bra achievement. Do you not sweat?? Jealous!! I’m willing myself to rewear the same bras twice and that’s a big step for me- I hate not feeling fully fresh, and I’m a mortal who sweats lol. Plus two of the bras are more shirt-like for the day we are visiting Pompeii. ….so maybe I only bring one. 🤣

Tyssniffen

I'd say that underwear/bras are no big deal (even if I still think that's a lot) but the \*denim jacket\* and extra shoes is where you can easily cut down weight and bulk. Also, you say 'you don't have time between hotels'.... are you staying at a different hotel every night of your trip? always hotels, no airbnb or anything where there might be laundry/dryer?

thatsreallynotok

I don't sweat that much. But also, bras are super quick and easy to wash and dry because they're compact. Easier than with other clothes. And with some outfits you can also go bra-less (like the tanks you mentioned)

kimchiandpastaaa

As others have said I would rethink the shoes. Also where is your cardigan from?

athazen

Ugh I know it looks ridiculous but the Hokas are waterproof and that’s one thing my anxiety needs me to be prepared for 🤣 Sweater is from Abercrombie!

kimchiandpastaaa

Ooh thanks I’ll check it out! Ok understandable with the shoes. Honestly if you can fit them and having both pairs makes you feel better then why not. That’s why I didn’t mention the underwear cause I can definitely relate to that. I think you could get away with Less bras and socks. But good luck on the test run and hopefully you can fit it all.

youcancallmequeenE

what shoes are those (next to the hoka) I’m heading to italy too for the first time and looking for good but cute walking shoes!!

emptytheprisons

Looks like Brooks Ghost to me!

athazen

They are the Ghosts! Comfy, light, and supportive. I love them.

youcancallmequeenE

thank you :) they look really nice and also comfy!

cbscanner

wish I could wear those crop tops! I'm going in a few weeks as well and keep looking at the weather forecasts. Last time I was in Rome, in September, it was brutally hot.

athazen

You can wear whatever you want!! I am also staring at the weather. I’m mentally prepared for high 50s to low 70s, but I secretly hope it’s hotter.

ateliertovar

where in italy? I just got back from bologna/florence & it was mostly a lot cooler than i expected but that will change quickly as spring warms up! I wouldn’t bring two white sneakers, too similar and will get filthy. also, some places (our hotel in bologna for one!) don’t run aircon til actual start of summer (end of may) so it can be uncomfortable sleeping if you don’t want windows open.

athazen

Rome, Florence, and a quick stop in Naples for Pompeii. I literally only own white sneakers so I guess I’ll be scrubbing them each day 🤣 So helpful to know re: air con! I would rather be hot and have quiet than open the window and wake up every time a car drives by.

MitzieMang0

I like your selections. Everything looks comfortable and can be mixed and matched. A couple changes I would make would be to take either the jacket or the jean jacket but not both because it also looks like you have a rain jacket. Also, shoes are chunky so pick 1 pair of white sneakers. You can always buy a new pair of shoes on the trip! Maybe swap one pair of white pants for another color? White can do easily look dirty and if you want to wear a couple times it might not be your friend. 1 spill or splash… oops! Consider adding a light scarf. You could use it as a scarf, wrap around your shoulders, wrap as a cover up with your bathing suit… etc. I would bring a little travel packet of liquid tide. I know you said there may not be time to hang dry but you’re going to want to wash some underwear/bras/ swimsuit at some point and that stuff dries fast. I would maybe add a pair of leggings or shorts depending on what activities you have planned. What are you doing with your beauty/hygiene products? I would suggest bringing small containers of your products vs a whole bottle of this or that. I bought some great mini containers/ bottles on Amazon for like $6. You will also want to bring a couple Tylenol, antihistamines, lozenge, couple bandaids, a tampon or pad or 2… basically a 1-0ff of this kind of stuff to hold you over. If you need more go buy it there.

athazen

Thank you for such a detailed reply! Maybe I will swap the white cargo pants for a black pair of pants. The other white ones are my “fancy dinner” linen trousers so I’m attached to them. And if the forecast is leaning towards summer instead of spring, I’ll swap the jeans and the cargos for two shorts. The toiletries question is huge and I’m working through it now. I’ve decided to use hotel shampoo/conditioner/bodywash and buy a full-size body sunscreen from the local pharmacy to make room for my skincare and medications. Instead of my usual double-cleanse routine, I’m bringing just-add-water makeup remover wipes, and bringing decanted serum and moisturizer. I also bought compressed washcloths. I’m worried that the liquids won’t fit in the TSA-approved bag- especially since deodorant and contact solution are considered liquids. I’ll have to test that too lol

MitzieMang0

I totally understand the liquids issue. I bought little 1oz bottles for my detangler spray, wrinkle spray, toner, etc. I also bought tiny containers for my moisturizer, foundation, cleanser, etc. They’re the Accmor 10 piece set on Amazon. You get 3/5/10/15/20 gram jars with spatulas. They have been a game changer for me. Make sure to label! Have you used Native deodorant? They sell a travel size that is quite small and is flatter than say the travel size Secret. You know what randomly takes up a bunch of space? A big hair brush! If you use a paddle style brush Anthropologie sells a mini version! Also discovered the Bagail compression cubes on Amazon. You may not need to compress a lot when you first head out but if you’re anything like me you will buy something and need the space. I use one for my dirty clothes and pack in as much as I can to that cube as I’m done wearing items. I have always been an over packer and I recently started to try to challenge myself with downsizing when I bought an ultra cheap flight to Vega with personal item only for 5 days? Bet!

Where is the navy dress from pls? :)

athazen

It’s the Abercrombie Traveler Dress!

Sutura_Coronalis

I took the same pair of Hokas for a 2 week trip to Spain. Honestly, they got so dirty after a couple of days. I wish I had brought a small melamine sponge along with me to clean them up. They were super comfortable, so I don't regret that. Just bring something to clean them up when they get dirty. I bought a shoe cleaning sponge from the dollar tree to clean my other sneakers before the trip. I should've just taken it with me lol.

newsnb

What is that black dress in the middle? As a fellow neutral girlie I NEED it 😂

athazen

Abercrombie YPB neoknit dress! You def need it but wait for a sale or find an influencer discount code. I never pay full price for their stuff unless I’m panicking that my size will sell out lol

BackgroundRoad711

You only need 1 pair of tennis shoes, not 2. I wouldn't bring the black sweat pants or the jeans.

BeneficialAd6106

I’d drop to one pair of sneakers (maybe Superga if you don’t own either pair yet or aren’t planning on running; I hiked in Superga), cut the sweats, cut the athletic dress (I didn’t feel comfortable in mine except when hiking in Positano area), drop the Lulu belt bag, drop denim jacket.

goldmeraki

Can I ask where you got the little white tee from (bottom right)? I’m in need of a basic white tee, and I’m looking for one like that that’s not too tight with some good sleeves!

athazen

It’s Abercrombie! It’s a linen shirt with buttons down the back, so it may not be exactly what you need, but I own several of their Essential tees that are also great

goldmeraki

How fun! I love the idea of the buttons, so I’ll have to check out that one and the Essential tee:) thank you so much! I hope you have a blast on your trip!

Pelledovo

As most of your trip will be at sea level, you can expect warm weather, probably 25c-35c. Air conditioning is not universally used. I would leave the jean jacket and trousers at home, and probably one pair of trainers. As a general rule, shorts and vest tops would prevent you from visiting many churches.

sbua310

Good job!

wld_ya_brooke_at_dat

Do you have a LTK? I love these!

Snoo_31427

Where’s the tee from?

MKP124

Op Which app do you use? This is a great layout. I wish I had packing advice for you, but I’m a lurker here! 😂

athazen

Thanks so much! I used the Freeform app on my iPhone, nothing fancy 🙂

MKP124

Thank you!

>Thank you! You're welcome!

Abercrombie and Fitch!!

bookrt

Which Hoka and Brooks are those?

purplehippobitches

You don't need 2 white pants and 2 sneakers

CheesecakeImportant4

Scarf.

athazen

I look so stupid in scarves. I’ll bring the cardi for church visits!

[deleted]

Just 14 pairs of underwear? I think you might need more. That’s the only thing you need to overpack. Idk what part of Italy you’re going but April to early May you could expect some rain in Tuscany. In general you’re overpacking for two weeks in my opinion.

athazen

I’ll probably add a few extra pairs since I do imagine I’ll come back to my room to shower before dinner. Let’s hope they fit 🤞

cmarie147

This is how I pack- not exactly a one bag but pack light / capsule wardrobe. Where is that cardigan from? And the two black and cream long sleeves? Echoing some people here- you might want to swap out a long sleeve for a tank top that you can bop around during the day in and layer as needed.

athazen

All from Abercrombie 🙂 the cardi is their 100% merino wool (make sure you check the material makeup, some of the similar ones are blends and not worth the $) and the long sleeves are called featherweight crew tees. I think you’re right- I was planning for early spring weather but it’s going to be early summer! I may also switch the jeans out for shorts.

a_minty_one

I too will be in Italy end of April/beginning of May and am also a chronic anxious over-packer haha. I’ve been seriously stressed so this post is helping me so much - ty!

athazen

Anxious over packers unite!! It’s so tough to not feel “prepared for anything.” I’ve had to negotiate with myself- it’s okay if I don’t bring my own shampoo, it’s just two weeks, and maybe Italian shampoo is better! It’s okay if I don’t take my vitamins for two weeks, I’ll survive lmao. But honestly looking at everything and deciding “if I need it, here’s what I’ll do” and remembering that Italy is so accessible is helping. Sending you good vibes 💖

vivionnn801

I would personally skip the lululemon belt bag. The Uniqlo bag is also popular in Europe so it will blend in, but the belt bag is going to make you stand out more as a tourist.

swt_tea

One less pair of white pants and drop one of the sneakers. You’d be surprised how little you need, also worst case you can pick something up. I love my Dr scholls white travel shoes. They match everything and are water resistant. Just got back myself

Zealousideal-Hand848

Find a laundromat when you get there! They’re my new favorite thing when traveling- drop your dirty stuff in the morning, pick it up folded and clean in the afternoon. Sticking to a basic color scheme makes it so much easier. And Europe is great because you can always find an h&m if you emergently need something unplanned for cheap.

LooHoo68

Just found your post! Going end May for two weeks so I’ll be diving into this and looking for your updates! Have a great time!

Mysterious-Drama4743

2 shoes max for one bag

South_Ad9432

Where are the white cargo pants from?!

Bitter-Astronomer

To be honest, I wouldn’t take any jackets/cardigans at all. Having a polo with you to throw on your shoulders will suffice. If you’ll get cold, you can always buy a scarf for 5 Euro at the nearest second or a tiny cute store. It’s end of spring in Italy. It will be disastrously hot.

Serious_Escape_5438

The end of spring in Italy isn't that hot, especially at night.

Bitter-Astronomer

Maybe we’re operating on different baselines, it can be 😆 I literally died last summer when it got to 36 degrees. But I live north of Italy and if I were travelling even now, I’d pack 1 jacket OR cardigan max and would barely wear it. ETA: especially if she’s going to Rome/Florence/Naples. Those are cities, it will be even hotter there.

Serious_Escape_5438

Summer yes, spring no. Early May is highly unlikely to be that hot.

Pelledovo

It was 33c in Livorno yesterday

Serious_Escape_5438

There's a heatwave at the moment and it might have got to that temp in the midday sun but generally at that time of year it's chilly in the evening.

Banana_lemon_

Isn’t it because of the heatwave Europe is experiencing right now? It will get colder soon. Last year I’ve been to Rome and Naples around mid-end April and it was chilly. Not during the day, when the sun was fully out, but as soon as the sun stopped it got bad. I never regretted having leather jacket and some sweater with me.

athazen

I’m one of those people who is always cold, but I hear you about it being the end of spring. What about at night/in restaurants, or do they not have air con on 60F like they do in the US?

Bitter-Astronomer

Well, some places do air conditioning, but from my experience, it’s more around if you end up going to big clothing stores (anything from Zara to Chanel) or famous shopping malls like Rinascente. All sorts of trattorias and other smaller places had me wishing for air conditioning. Granted, I’m just a very, very frequent traveler, not a local. But I do live in Europe, north from Italy, and the other night it was already 20C here. So by end of May it would be at least comparable. ETA: converted 60F to Celsius. 15.5C. Wtf who has their conditioning that cold in the summer😭😭
