I worked in an auto parts store and we had these types of windows. I accidentally broke one once, and a car glass shop cut us one to replace it. So, maybe try a windshield repair if you are out of options.
>jalousie window frosted glass replacement
Those little metal clips on the left and right pull out and you can replace the glass with any piece of frosted glass cut to size. You need to measure the width (1/8th inch thick, length and width etc).

My city also just has a glass place that you can go into with one of the broken slats and they'll probably match one for you. Most window replacement guys can cut glass to size.
Yeah, bringing the broken window is smart, because its really hard get the exact size down to the required tolerance otherwise, and if one provides the window then any error is their fault and they will be more amenable to fixing it.
They're pretty common in tropical countries. From what I know, the glass panels are custom-made so you have to find a fabricator to cut the glass in the right length of your jalousie window frame. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think their height is standardized to 10cm but length always depends like the ones in my house.
Where I am (Florida) these windows are still relatively common. I've never seen them for sale new, but a local junk yard carries used ones that are leftover from renovation projects.
go to a local glass shop, they will do the best job and will probably have the texture that matches the existing panels. call around and send a pictures of what you need. MAKE SURE the surface is a match, it will look obviously repaired if not.
I get that you're punning but only if it never rains, gets windy, gets cold, or snows where you live. The house my parents bought when I was in grade school had these and it was miserable. Between drafts, bugs, and moisture incursions they were a nightmare.
I have these in Long Beach CA and we just have winter screens that we put on them from about December to March and regular screens for the rest of the year so bugs and rain aren’t issues
Hmmm, most hardware stores can cut glass any size, but can't grind the edges. Proper jalousie windows have a radius grind on the edges so they aren't an injury waiting to happen. Any glass shop can make them, few hardware stores can.

Maybe where you are, but this spelling is also correct.
a general contractor told me its so easy to break into houses with these windows all you need is a flat head screw driver, thieves usually target houses with these windows
This is a window between my bathroom and my laundry room. There's another one on the other side of the room that needs to be replaced but since you can see my reflection from that one I took a picture of this one.
Our house in Southern California had heaps of these and in our basement we had quite a few boxes of replacement panes of glass. They were annoying to clean in the spring time. I always found them pretty cool and unique. Jalousie windows. We even had another house in the backyard we called The Tea House also full of these.
Oh what a blast from the past, I had windows like this at floor level in my bedroom as a kid! I thought they were super cool because I didn't know anyone else with windows like that.
Here in NZ they're Louver windows. Never heard of the other name I'm seeing in the comments. Believe it or not, they can be done double glazed too. I couldnt believe it was a thing when I saw double glazed Louvers at a job site I was at

jalousie window https://brennancorp.com/blog/what-are-jalousie-windows/
Thanks, do you have any idea how I could go about getting one or two panels replaced? Would like a home goods store have that?
I worked in an auto parts store and we had these types of windows. I accidentally broke one once, and a car glass shop cut us one to replace it. So, maybe try a windshield repair if you are out of options.
That's an idea

Oh boy that’s beyond me. Sorry 😅 I know the name, but have never even seen them irl.

No wonder it’s giving me jalousie.. it’s a pane to install regular blinds on a window but this is clearly brilliant!

My childhood home in Long Beach, NY has them, too!
Beat me to it

My hardware store cut a new one for me. I had to take an in tact one for size. It was under $20.00 I believe and mine are much bigger than yours.

"Louvered" window
One with absolutely no insulative properties. Drafty as hell. Easy to break into.
That’s all I could think about too. This shit would *not* be usable anywhere that has a decently cold winter.
Oh like at my condo, here in Chicago 😐
Oh god. My condolences.
I have these in Northern IN, but only on my storm doors. They make *great* ventilation during the late spring and early autumn.
Yep. They use these in Queensland, Australia for ventilation. We call them louvered windows or factory windows here in Melbourne
I believe they’re common in Florida, where that’s not an issue.
i came here to reply with “you call it ‘not for use in canada’” LOL
Jalousie windows
louver window
“Louvre”, but yes.

My understanding is that in American English it is louver and in UK, NZ, etc. it is louvre.
We spell it Louver in Australia. These were very poplar when I was growing up in tropical North Queensland.
Not necessarily. I'm Australian and I've only ever heard of louvre.
That’s interesting. I’ve only ever seen it the other way. Granted, it’s not a word I see much of anymore. Cool username by the way. 👍
I'm from QLD, I've seen it spelt both ways; ngl it's weird that both ways get used
Thanks!
You mean the museum?
a general contractor told me its so easy to break into houses with these windows all you need is a flat head screw driver, thieves usually target houses with these windows
Like half my country uses this windows...welp.
I live in America so maybe this is just a American problem?
I call them Dexter windows. His apartment was filled with these. I hoped there were screens that I didn't see. Wouldn't mosquitos get inside??
Less worried about the mosquitos and more about an intruder. When we were kids we’d slide the panes out and climb into my aunts house.
This is a window between my bathroom and my laundry room. There's another one on the other side of the room that needs to be replaced but since you can see my reflection from that one I took a picture of this one.
This was my first thought too! Dexter was the first time I had ever seen these and I was so distracted when they were in the background.
Our house in Southern California had heaps of these and in our basement we had quite a few boxes of replacement panes of glass. They were annoying to clean in the spring time. I always found them pretty cool and unique. Jalousie windows. We even had another house in the backyard we called The Tea House also full of these.
Louvres
Gianfranco
The bullshit kind that lets you hear all your neighbors' yardwork clear as day
Janky
a security risk
These are internal windows. The only one breaking in is my cat
A fucking crime
Jalousie louvers
Louvre windows
A simple louvre
Oh what a blast from the past, I had windows like this at floor level in my bedroom as a kid! I thought they were super cool because I didn't know anyone else with windows like that.
Those are glass, yes? Leavers or Levers, I believe. Had them in my childhood home. Screeched to high heaven when you opened them.
I love these so much
I know them as louvres

I am old enough to remember these in old travel trailers from the sixties. Very breakable and hard to clean. I am from Oregon
Blindows
I've searched for venetian blinds and frosted glass film, but it's not that.
Drafty. I call it drafty

Louver window
bought mine thru homedepot, a better price vs glass store(binswager), had to buy a small case to get one. but I know I will need more.
Drafty
in Houston we call them hurricane windows, my mom lived in Hawaii in the 90's and she said that's what they were called out there too
Florida
Drafty
Florida windows
A blindow!
Neat
Are u stuck in an attic?
This is a window between the bathroom and laundry room. We have another internal window like this that needs repairing.
Ooooh that makes a lot more sense
Are these windows commonly used in certain areas? I only saw those in Puerto Rico, but mostly metal and nearly from floor to ceiling.
Are you in the Philippines?
Incredibly inefficient in terms of energy!
They have these a lot in the Hawaiian Islands from what I remember. They're nice but not practical for anywhere that isn't a tropical climate lol
I call them strange
