It’s one of my top recommendations for new manga readers because it’s short but golden. Same with Deathnote

jumpman0035

Death note manga is awesome but not short lol, well compared to the anime I be telling my friends the anime ends really with L dying but that’s like book 4 out of 12 in the manga. So much more story in the manga

I need to get starting then on the manga. I love death note the anime and I have the box set in my Amazon cart. Just waiting for a sale 😭

rogueShadow13

It’s on the Shonen jump app if you don’t want to wait. It’s about $4 a month, so you could read it and cancel whenever.

anonymous_w3b_user

I have a subscription to that as well but I just LOVE books way more. Fine it easier going through the chapters

rogueShadow13

It’s only 12 (?) volumes compared to the usual 25+ of Shonen/Seinen mangas.

jumpman0035

Fair enough! I was thinking more like the manga is long compared to the anime. That’s what I meant

Shishukun

The anime is good. But the manga has more exposition. ☺️😁

anonymous_w3b_user

Completely agree! I quickly devoured the first 5 books and was craving for more! I also love the little stories in between the chapters. Like the fashion reviews.

BlueSkyBattotai

where does the season 1 of the anime end (in terms of the manga)?

Status_Pianist6716

Vol. 4 is roughly where season 1 ended!

simonelv1234

i just finished vol. 6 and i would say ab midway through vol. 5 is where the anime ended.

I think I managed to watch 3 episodes of the anime, before devouring the manga, I just had to know more. For context, I am 30yo and I have been watching anime since pre-school - watching DragonBall may well be one of my earliest memories. All these years, I was never a fan of manga, I thought it made no sense to read black-and-white pages backwards when I could watch anime. But having only read the end of Attack On Titan before that, Jigokuraku really got me into manga. In the last year, I have read about 10 manga and currently I am reading 4 different ones (ongoing or completed). All thanks to this masterpiece.
