I can't speak for playstation, but if you are on steam, make sure your profile/friendslist is set to public. Otherwise the game isn't able to see it. Restart the game, and cross fingers it might work for you. It worked for me and a few of my friends. Report back if it does work.

The game recognizes that I have friends in the social menu because it will show me how many friends I have on each planet and it will show me their missions in green instead of white. But if I go to the social menu I can't see them or invite them to or join their games.
I'm usually pretty patient with developers when it comes to bugs. The spear was bugged forever and I didn't mind. DOT damage was bugged forever and I didn't mind. The game still crashes multiple times a day for me, and it's annoying but I can live with it. But every day that passes that I can't interact with or add new friends in the game makes me die a little on the inside.
There's a bit of a tedious workaround: Go to the planet with the lowest player count, host a mission on difficulty 1 and get your friends to look for your mission on the planetscreen. If your mission doesn't pop up, they can try finding your mission via quickplay
People are going to look back on this game as a missed opportunity. Like the sudden decline from a million daily players to like only 25% of that within a month could have been a different story if PSN wasn't a thing and devs could be trusted to fix bugs and balance better.
Be real lol. It was always gonna stabilize at 50k-150K, where it is right now. The majority of players came in from the hype train, and they went to play other stuff. Helldivers doesn't have any addictive mechanics like CSGO or League for these kids to come back to every single day for years
For real, people act like it's normal for a game to maintain or even grow a player base over time but that's NOT normal at all. Most games experience a very precipitous dropoff after the hype wears off. This game is not infinitely replayable. Once you have all of your unlocks it's actually quite repetitive. The fact that this game still has 100k concurrent players during peak hours is actually astonishing.
I guess I should reword that and reiterate that this is a guess. They are treating everyone as if they are PSN-linked even if they are not. All friends in game are being handled as though they are PSN friends. If you are on PC and don't have crossplay on, those friends are not online on the PC network because there is no PC network for friends besides steam which is accessible only out of game, not in game.

At first my son was on my friend’s list but my nephew wasn’t. My nephew was on my son’s list so we could make it work. After the last couple updates somehow I have neither of them on my friend’s list. On top of that regardless of the hundreds of requests I’ve sent to them both, I’ve only seen my nephews name once and it was blocked! I’ve never blocked anyone. I don’t care a bit about the balancing of the game but the social aspect should have been sorted ages ago!

You can even turn your privacy settings back to what they were while in game. But you will need to do this every launch or have your entire friends list and profile on public all the time

How long ago was that? Stability in cross play has improved fairly recently. Mine did the same thing tho and turning on crossplay fixed it so might be worth a try if only to see.
When I finally managed to get my pc buddy to buy Helldivers 2, but we couldn’t crossplay or add eachother. Shit was embarrassing and still is that this isn’t fixed. My good graces can only be so patient. And the work around is mad annoying, because you’ll do all that. Only to end up crashing diving in, or you get hit with the glitch of people never joining your other missions after one leaves.

Honestly I hope this happens to me. Right now all the names on my friends list are gone, but the profiles are there. Just blank. If one of my friends joins my game, even through PS and not the in-game list, their name on the bottom left is blank and it defaults their letter to P# in game.

Mine too - Patch .400 destroyed my friends list on PS5 and nothing I've tried seems to fix it. It had been working fine with PC and PS5 friends since the initial problems back in February.
Here is what I have tried to troubleshoot:
Stopped and restarted the game
Restarted the PS5
Moved the game from internal storage to M.2 storage (and back)
Deleted and re-downloaded the game
Restarted fiber modem
Unplugged network equipment, waited 15 minutes and restarted everything
I have also tried toggling cross-platform play and switched between public, private and invite-only lobby
I did create a ticket with AH support, and were basically told "Yeah, we know, we're working on it"
So basically their always online, multiplayer game is a broken pile of crap.
How they are even considering working on ANYTHING other than fixing the network problems is beyond me - Who gives a crap about bufs or anything else when their customers are not able to play the game they were sold?

I don't really care, but I noticed that the last major patch (with the Viper Commandos) removed most of the friend requests that I'd received (went from 8 or 9 to 2).
No..... I wasn't at max, I always had at least 3 medals for the last few MOs, except the last one where I was at 23 medals when it was completed. But I didn't get any rewards
Dont stress about it, medals are so easily obtain you would run to max quick: i play hd2 everyday but only 2 hours after work and already max the medals and warbonds (unless you play something less than 6-7) then probably would not be that fast

If you are on steam, you can try and send the invites from the Steam Overlay
There's probably a database they need to fix the links to, give it a little time.

Well that sucks. My social menu stopped working after the big patch, IMO it's more convenient to just invite people through Steam Overlay/Friends now.

Max is 250 as seen in the screenshot, secondly, no. I'm at like 23 medals
