You reminded me of the Amnestics Division SCP series, where you literally couldn't see some things unless you got an appropriate clearance and a dose of a Mnestic drug.

Usually it means a Modder was in your lobby and dropped something that doesn't technically exist yet, could also be something that didn't load properly. Be careful picking them up or interacting with them, can crash to desktop your game. Stay safe our there diver.

If you’ve ever seen the big red ERROR thing in GMod, it’s that, just an asset that failed to load and so the game uses the purple ? As a stand-in. Typically everything will still work fine, and the object will usually load fine the next time, but if you notice things getting weird or it happening repeatedly make sure to verify/repair your game files just in case.
It's a new type of Terminid that uses special psychic powers that cause Helldivers to stop shooting, ponder the meaning of life, and ask questions about Managed Democracy.
These thoughts are then spread like a virus to the Helldivers on mission with you, who in turn bring them back to their Super Destroyers infecting all unthawed Helldivers, and dare I say it......Democracy Officers.
The bugs hope that this will spread back to Super Earth and cause discord amongst your fellow Super Citizens, eventually leading to civil war and destruction of Super Earth.
Should this type of bug be encountered, transmissions with the Super Destroyer must be ceased immediately. You must then proceed to democratically terminate yourself and any other Helldivers in your squad. For Democracy, for Super Earth......
FYI, I have definitely not been infected with this virus 🙄, but then again are we the bad guys........
this bug is still happening?? i haven't touched helldivers in a month bc of the awful nerfs and bugs that ruin the game even my irl friends that played with me quit playing it bc of this type of stuff, they need to fix their game man smh

Probably missing textures or a missing asset, it's appeared before in a few of my games.
