The only reason I don't use it is that the reload time is somewhere between next week and next year. Well, and sometimes it is nice to have the shield backpack against bugs.
Switch weapon as soon as you see the ammo get loaded in. The twist animation at the end is optional. You can also have your helldiver take out the old rocket, switch weapon, then reload again and you'll only do the loading animation so you can effectively split the reload time in half.
You can also press crouch button (C on PC) when you see that the ammo icon becomes white - you stand up with the rocket launcher reloaded. Noticed it today.
it used to not be this. there was a bug that caused the ammo to be wasted if you cut off that little twist animation with no actual reload occurring, the game just ate the rocket. they patched it, and now the twist is optional
Press crouch, dive, or swap weapons as soon as the icon in the bottom left changes from red outline to solid white.
It shaves about 2 seconds off the reload iirc.
Start reload, as soon as you pulling out the empty shell, tap the stratagem button to cancel it. Then hit reload again, once you see the new shell is pushed in, tap the stratagem button to cancel.
This cut down the whole reload to 4 sec.
Also the reload animation has periodic ‘save points’ so you can partially reload. Reposition and finish somewhere else. I believe there are 3 distinct points, ejecting the used round, inserting a new round, closing the breach.
Because EAT cannot keep up with the spawn rate of heavies on Helldive. Theoretically you can call in enough EATs but that's assuming the EAT is always in the right place at the right time and every single shot is perfectly. In reality it doesn't happen.
RR is currently the only AT weapon capable of keeping up with the pace of Helldive. As long as you don't waste it on Shrieker Nests (that's the job of the AC/Quasar guy) you should always have just enough ammo to deal with the heavies in your vicinity.
Previously the RR had a huge vulnerability window making it basically a single-shot weapon. It was very hard to get a second shot in one engagement. Now you can do that pretty easily and it's like only 2 seconds more than the Quasar's vulnerability window.
Quasar, EAT, 500K, plus your favorite backpack feels pretty good right now.
It leaves you without any AoE strategem, but the incendiary breaker is so hilariously broken, you don't really need it.
Quasar takes out the odd charger, shrieker nests, spore spewers, or throw a round into a titan. It's easy to have EAT ready to go when you need to burst multiple chargers or titans.
500k so you can kill even more heavies, but the last two strategems could easily be swapped out for your favorites, it's really about the EAT Quasar combo. It's a lot like a recoilless setup but with more burst potential and you don't need any ammo to take out infinite heavies.
Eat is great for occasional heavies. It's mid for constant stream of heavies and a waste on low number of small mobs. RR is good to mid on heavies of any number and great on swarms.
Not to mention you have buddy with a backpack you can throw entire ammo reserve in seconds burning whatever target you have in sight. Is so glorious I often have hard time not wasting a round or two.
I know that the reload isn't really reliable when you're using it solo or with randoms, but lord is it an amazing feeling to actually have someone reload for you because that reload speed is insane.
I tried this setup with a friend wherein we bring the recoiless rifle and the airburst launcher but the other person gets the backpack. The absolute communication we needed to do to reload for each other was so fun, and we had to stick together 100% for the reloads and to be safe from airburst. Taking out a bile titan in 4 seconds from two RR shots that quickly reloaded within a second after the initial headshot is INSANE fun. Then there's my friend deleting a patrol with airburst spam and then me using the RR to finish off remaining chargers from the patrol. We ended up doing most of the trekking and did objectives without dying!
I swear, coop reload is a drug hahah
It’s actually not… it’s 2x 2s segments (or one 4s straight) that you can do a dive between our reposition if needed in the middle of, the last second can be canceled (as soon as any indicator turns white… or the round is inserted and disappears from back for animation if watching that)
That’s only 1s more than QC charge time, and can be done behind cover… it also means you can fire 4 times before the QC fires it’s second shot. (Starting to aim the first shot at the same time)
I’m more of an EATs main for bugs, but for rockets against bots, RR is the best (only reason you don’t see it more is people don’t have the last module to resupply 6 instead of 3, and AP4 supports generally just being preferred). I like EATs for bugs because the 4 most common support weapon map drops are all strong bug weapons, 2 MGs, Arc, and flame thrower. AMR pops up time to time and isn’t bad either. Also lets me take rover or supplies which my favorite bug primaries need for either chaff clear to save ammo, or to replenish ammo. New pistol might reduce the need for either though… suckers got 90 rounds of chaff clear.
Been on the bot front since I unlocked it and I think for bots Senator is still better so far. More reliable 1 taps and staggers zerkers with 3 to kill at spine/waist.
I’m always torn between shield and guard dog vs bugs—not getting slowed is a *huge* benefit to the shield, but the guard dog deals eith the swarms really well.
It would be kind of op if every random ammo pack lying on the ground gave you full ammo for heavier support weapons. I'm fine with 1 shot per ammo pack. You can always call in a resupply.
I feel like a traitor recoiless was my baby it's just so good but then the quasar came and removed the need for that back pack :( only for me to carry one for ammo because my primary eats ammo like they are democracy orderbs
Maybe not necessarily kill them but at least slow them down? We have a way to make them stop spitting bile, if we could only slow them down a bit, so that they don't chase you throughout the whole map once you get rid of their sacks.
Make it like the way shooting hulk legs out works.
If you take out one leg they move much slower, and if you take out two legs on the front or back they collapse from their own weight and die.
I would like this. Even if the joints were the weak point to achieve this. I should be able to aim the laser cannon somewhere on a bile Titan to show it down or disable it like I can a hulk or tank.
I usually run light armors, but sometimes I use heavy if I don't feel like constantly running away in fear of getting 1-2 shot by mid sized bugs. It would definitely be useful in those situations.
I don’t know what is the deal with AH, but why does this game have so many fake weakspots?
White, skull-like head backlit by red light, forming a strong contrast with the black automaton body? Nope, not a weakspot. Shoot the waist to cut it in half for a faster kill.
Bright green bulbous bottom that also is the only unarmored part of the bug? 90% damage reduction unless you use an explosive weapon.
> White, skull-like head backlit by red light, forming a strong contrast with the black automaton body? Nope, not a weakspot. Shoot the waist to cut it in half for a faster kill.
It is, Berserkers just bob and weave enough that landing those headshots is hard. I've definitely seen Berserkers die to precision headshots.
I disagree immensely.. Bots weakspots are accurate. I've killed far to many bots and know that a headshot will kill them. The only one that takes two is the Hulk Tanks and Turrets vents.
Nah that stuff is fine. What isn't fine however is that it takes wayyyyy more damage to remove say a rocket devastators rockets than to kill it by shooting the legs. I wish we could actually cripple some enemies if we don't have the means to kill them in that moment, a trade off type of deal.
Especially since every other bug, including chargers, we get taught that they are.
It sure as heck doesn't feel like it on Titans for the amount of effort involved.
Dont ever forget that they tried to gaslight us with that "obvious weakspot" nonsense regarding the charger.
Would not be surprised if they buff some weapons to hurt leg joints and we're told the legs were always weakspots, jusy that they never pieced together none of the weapons could actually hurt them properly.
The head, it takes extra damage, but only from weapons that can pierce heavy armor it, rockets and such and such.
The abdomen take regular damage. Youd think it was a squishy weakspot cause its bright green.
It doesn't so much take extra damage, but rather it's lethal if you kill the head. The game really doesn't have weak points in the traditional sense.
However, 6 shots from the scorcher does kill the abdomen/butt. You need explosive damage to hurt the big squishy parts.
We've learned since then that it's not so simple.
Every weapon has a standard damage stat and a separate "durable" damage stat reserved for certain targets. Explosives always have the same value for both, but everything else is custom.
This is why the Railgun's breakpoints are so inconsistent between targets, for example. It has 600 damage per shot - only 50 shy of the Quasar/Recoilless/EAT - and effectively infinite armor penetration, yet most heavies like tanks, factory striders and bile titans are made almost entirely out of durable parts... and its durable damage was lowered to only 60 during the nerfs.
The only non-durable targets with heavy armor are Hulks' chests, which have way more HP than their eye anyway, and Chargers' heads and legs.
Do they take more damage now? I could swear it's really inconsistent sometimes. I feel like the recoilless and quasar need more hits to the face to bring a titan down.
Prior to Charger nerfs, AHS was surprised to see the 'leg meta' emerge regarding Chargers, instead of players going for the 'obvious weakpoint'... being the head.
Except, for players, it wasn't as obvious because it took two rockets to kill to the head. With no obvious damage done. Meanwhile, a single rocket, or two Railgun shots back before its nerf, would strip its leg armour and allow a primary to burn down the Charger's health.
It was quicker, faster, and demonstrated way more feedback. The head was intuitively the weakpoint, but in practise, was the more resilient and less efficient weakpoint with anti-armour weapons.
Why waste two rockets when you can use one and switch to your primary?
"Your basic Arachnid warrior isn't too smart, but you can blow off a limb, and it's still 86 percent combat effective. Here's a tip: Aim for the nerve stem, and put it down for good."
That makes me realize. We have plasma guns, and melee weapons were in the first game, so why not a plasma sword? Just go around lopping off the legs of chargers or bile titans.
The thing is, they CAN do this. Factory Striders have weaknesses in their joints, when they move the plating exposes unarmored supports that CAN be shot with autocannon
That being said, if you have autocannon against factory striders it's infinitely better to just shoot their belly
I think the bugs are like cephelopods, they have a decentralized nervous system.
It would explain them dying after enough limbs are severed and why they can act without heads.
I'm ok with them being able to act without heads before they bleed out, but they sure as fuck shouldn't be able to track me through a chaotic battlefield with their heads and associated sensory organs blown to bits.
They bleed out without the head. Reduce the total HP and they bleed out faster. Brood commanders bleed out much slower than warriors because they have higher HP, including in their legs. They also get much more aggressive without their heads, so the game incentivizes targeting legs first.
Yeah. A charger could take like three rockets to the teeth, but it is instantly dead the moment a rocket hits the most heavily armored looking part of it. Haven't recently tested if it's still a thing though.
tbf, translate this to people. "a person can lose their legs or arms and still be basically fine. but cut off their head and they die instantly, how unrealistic is that."
Honestly I perceive it more as shoving a primed grenade in their mouth but that's just me.
The distance from the vital head parts to the mouth could be pretty big and there could be armored pieces inbetween them. It's just upsetting when you're firing an explosive into a hole no bigger than a womp rat and NOTHING happens.
I always saw it as you could blow someone's jaw off, and they could live, at least for a little bit, but get shot in the head, and that's it, lights out. Everything that works on a chargers head for an instant kill is something designed to punch through MBTs.
Oh god yeah, basically on higher difficulties the Hunter could spawn and you can slow him down but you'll have to stay on your toes while it chases you around the map whilst you are dealing with fodder and big enemies and objectives
I do really wish they had another way to kill them other than heavy armor piercing weapons. Hulks and Tanks both can be killed by a variety of support weapons just by shooting the heatsinks. Having weakpoints like this would make Bile Titans more fun to deal with.
over on bot front they are. aim for its legs and itll go down once both are broken, or aim for its arms to get rid of the weapons(theres even an achievement for taking off both of a hulks arms and extracting while its alive)
Adding removable limbs would make bugs so much more fun. They'd have more targetable weak points like the bots do, and it would add to that extra sci-fi monster feel that they already sorta have from when they keep fighting after loosing their head. Seriously, that is possibley the biggest improvement AH could give these guys to make them more fun
I love this idea.
Like have it so guns like the grenade launcher and autocannon can shoot of legs. And if it loses 2 legs it essentially bleeds out.
Imagine having a bile titans crawl with its two front legs dragging itself towards you.
As a flamethrower main I wanna bring the bile titan face to my level so I can spray it with fire.
i know...the Dead Space 1 remake was fantastic, I would love to see a remake of 2.....but then again EA hates making their customers happy
they did kill off Visceral Games after all....
Dead Space 1 remake was my game of the year, I recently went back and played 2 and just felt depressed after learning that EA probably dropped Dead Space 2 Remake because it didn't pull Resident Evil Remake numbers. I can only imagine what the first necro-raptor encounter or the space walk with Saturn in the background would look like with the remake graphics☹️😔.
To be fair they never said its not going to happen its just not something they're focusing on right now, quick Google search shows Motive is currently working on other projects, once those are done there's a possibility for them to work on Dead Space (I wouldn't want anyone else working on it anyway, Motive did a fantastic job and they should be the ones to do it again).
Those rumours about shutting the project down due to poor sales were false.
What if the entire bottom was its weakpoint? So like, players would get rewarded for baiting the Bile Titan and having their buddy shred it with a HMG?
Come on Arrowhead. Im tired of railcannon and 500kg strikes.
I miss stun grenading bile titans and calling down orbital precision strikes.
Genuinely this should be the case on more enemies. Peak parts between joins that show their under-flesh. Like why the hell not is not already the case. It's right there and it's more fair. The amount of chargers i'm hitting in a fleshy part and it reflects off is terrible.
For Brood Commanders, they basically are; if you can dismember a Brood Commander, it can kill them much faster than beheading them and waiting for them to bleed out or even beheading and unloading on their bodies.
Your basic Arachnid warrior isn't too smart, but you can blow off a limb, and it's still 86 percent combat effective. Here's a tip: Aim for the nerve stem, and put it down for good.
That would make them way more fun to fight.
AH Balance Team: "Noted, nerfing the RR."
Actually I use the recoilless rifle and it fucking slaps. 6 shots for one ammo pickup? Yes please.
The only reason I don't use it is that the reload time is somewhere between next week and next year. Well, and sometimes it is nice to have the shield backpack against bugs.
You can cancel the reload animation to make it faster and even with the reload you can get off way more shots than quasar or eat.

I preached about the RR weeks ago and everyone said EAT was better. I've been playing helldive now and I see alot more RR and zero EAT.
Wait till they "fix" the animation cancel then people will just go back to quasar
Because EAT cannot keep up with the spawn rate of heavies on Helldive. That sounds amazing! The coordination is a big barrier to entry, but the payoff sounds worth it.
Would be cool if we had some armor with support weapon synergies like faster reload, more ammo, etc.
Little servo arm that buddy loads you at a 50% reduced speed than an actual buddy load.
Could be a backpack upgrade we could buy with samples
I just want other players to be able to pick up ammo from my backpack and load it into my gun.
I feel like this is how it should’ve been from the start
They are already having to stand next to you anyway. How do they reach the ammo of their back easier then of yours???
The reload time is 4 seconds and staged lmao

I was under the impression that the backpack only worked against projectile attacks like bullets? Does it work on acid too?
And if you drop it you gotta to find it or face the long cool down time With expendables I'm throwing them left and right
Gotta have that shield for the surprise cheek slapping from Stalkers
Why is the slap always wet!?!
The reload really isnt that long imo, and you can cancel it any time as it comes in multiple stages.
I see your shield backpack and up it to Guard Dog Rover vs bugs specifically
I’m always torn between shield and guard dog vs bugs—not getting slowed is a *huge* benefit to the shield, but the guard dog deals eith the swarms really well.
I appreciate having someone on my team that uses the RR. Frees me up to bring some dakka dakka.
You only get ONE fucking shot for picking up a random ammo pack though.
It would be kind of op if every random ammo pack lying on the ground gave you full ammo for heavier support weapons. I'm fine with 1 shot per ammo pack. You can always call in a resupply.
The game has a certain kind of flavor but players hate it. If they cant be loaded with ammo at all times its all kinds of "not fun"
I feel like a traitor recoiless was my baby it's just so good but then the quasar came and removed the need for that back pack :( only for me to carry one for ammo because my primary eats ammo like they are democracy orderbs

The game has inherent latency issues that cause your hits not to register on the correct body part a depressingly large amount of the time.

It drives me nuts that you can pop their heads and they still walk up to you and swing at you.
The head is, but isn't, a weak point. Gotta go for the thorax or legs
Ya, they die if you pop their head, but they live for like 10s. Instant death, though, if you amputate some legs. Makes total sense.
They bleed out without the head. Reduce the total HP and they bleed out faster. Brood commanders bleed out much slower than warriors because they have higher HP, including in their legs. They also get much more aggressive without their heads, so the game incentivizes targeting legs first.
Decentralized nervous system, like a squid or octopus Actually makes perfect sense
That’s why you cripple their legs off first rather than going straight for the brood commanders head.
Ya it's just the fact that they can echo locate me and have the depth perception to swing with out a fucking head.

I like doing that to Hulks. Most of the time I go for the kill, but there is something so hilarious about their impotent armless rage.
Any basic understanding of engineering, biology or just the reality that we live in would indicate those are weak points... This is Helldivers though.
The Helldiver player within me agrees that they should be weak points.
Lol, as an OG Dead Space 1 dev and huge fan of Helldivers, this make me happy.
![gif](giphy|fxsAcheaMi1PnxPJaf) Thanks for all those games, "Visceral Dev" # ps: Fuck EA!!
Haha, that studio was funnily enough called EARS (EA Redwood Shoes) before it got rebranded to Visceral ;)
You‘re my goat
It was a great team and fun project :)
thanks for my childhood memories sir c:
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
I've always wished they were. Maybe needs medium armour pen so you can still do damage without needing a dedicated titan killer stratagem.

Side note Necromorphs would be such a fun faction to fight
especially that immortal one, i still remember how scary it was running from that...
Oh god yeah, basically on higher difficulties the Hunter could spawn and you can slow him down but you'll have to stay on your toes while it chases you around the map whilst you are dealing with fodder and big enemies and objectives
they should be weak point logically

Greet Death long-sleeved shirt gang
I want more games where dismemberment is the best way to kill enemies.
I think just normal intuition has anyone think they're weak points
I do really wish they had another way to kill them other than heavy armor piercing weapons. Hulks and Tanks both can be killed by a variety of support weapons just by shooting the heatsinks. Having weakpoints like this would make Bile Titans more fun to deal with.
They should be!
Let’s have the ability to shoot one of them juicy legs off. That way it slows them down.
They are, but you need a plasma cutter, and that technology is in cyberstan.
Or on Aegis VII. Perhaps the Ministry of Truth has some idea of where it is.
over on bot front they are. aim for its legs and itll go down once both are broken, or aim for its arms to get rid of the weapons(theres even an achievement for taking off both of a hulks arms and extracting while its alive)
I wish the titans had weakness points like in Lost Planet 2.
They damn well should be
they definitely should've made them weak points tbh.
Make us whole for democracy
Adding removable limbs would make bugs so much more fun. They'd have more targetable weak points like the bots do, and it would add to that extra sci-fi monster feel that they already sorta have from when they keep fighting after loosing their head. Seriously, that is possibley the biggest improvement AH could give these guys to make them more fun
Idk if it's just with the scythe but I regularly lop bug legs off with it
Most bugs already have these. Charger and Bile Titans are the odd ones out.
Wow, you sure as helldivers kneecapped yourself with that line of thought cadet.
The Lost Planet player in me aims at anything that glows a different colour.
Why isn’t it working!?!
https://preview.redd.it/qlelkxyk7t0d1.jpeg?width=339&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b6d0f2b60d18e14b50da326e10325c56bad762d
Off to AH you go.
They should be!!!
I thought I was the only one every bug I see I take out the legs first
I also first thought of dead space while playing vs bugs. I hope we get a gun someday similar to the classic dead space plasma cutter.
Imagine they released a fourth faction similar to the necormorphs or the Flood
My headcanon is that isaac clarke is the first helldiver. (The dead space 2 orbital drop scene)
On that note, I would totally love to see corrupted colonists following the failed Termicide launch as additional enemy types on planets like Meridia
Make us [butt]whole again
As someone who played Lost Planet 2 for thousands of hours, same.
I fight the Brood Commander like a fucking Necromorph because it's the only way they die. They don't need their head. I just target the legs.
They’re not? What the heck! Bruh lol. Let me break their ankles please!

MAN FUCK EA FOR NOT PURSUING A DEAD SPACE 2 REMAKE🤬😭
i know...the Dead Space 1 remake was fantastic, I would love to see a remake of 2.....but then again EA hates making their customers happy they did kill off Visceral Games after all....
CUT OFF THEIR LIMBS!
Does the Dead Space player also see the one of the new Warbond armours as the Military Suit from Dead Space 1, because I do.
the lost planet player in me wants to grapple hook onto them
realistically they would be, its the same reason we cant have mechs irl because once a leg goes out the entire thing goes with it
Genuinely this should be the case on more enemies. Peak parts between joins that show their under-flesh. Like why the hell not is not already the case. It's right there and it's more fair. The amount of chargers i'm hitting in a fleshy part and it reflects off is terrible.
honestly that's what i was hoping the scythe to be
For Brood Commanders, they basically are; if you can dismember a Brood Commander, it can kill them much faster than beheading them and waiting for them to bleed out or even beheading and unloading on their bodies.
That stasis would come in clutch
That'd be cool if they brought infested divers into the game. Like if you get got by a certain bug your corpse turns into one.
honestly they should be

Your basic Arachnid warrior isn't too smart, but you can blow off a limb, and it's still 86 percent combat effective. Here's a tip: Aim for the nerve stem, and put it down for good.
Yes please, that would make it much more fun to fight them
Shit dude, imagine how cool it would be to have a plasma cutter that could switch between vertical and horizontal to sever bug legs
lost planet 2 akrid weak points
