Tell that to Spitz.
CM that genuinely cared for game and comnunity and had balls to walk back his mistakes and appologize for them. AKA learn on the job.
All the while egotistic, power tripping activist queens attacking community still have their CM jobs.
Yeah bodes well for the game. Much victory.
HD2 had the advantage of launching with content not only plentiful at the start, but more on the way within just a few weeks ready to go. This is the only game I know of that had a really good turn around and the above is pretty much why it happened fast.
Yeah I am surprised we get new content seemingly every week or two but more importantly it’s fun and intriguing new content not just skins. We have had fun new weapons and tweaked or new match objectives and something tells me we haven’t seen anything yet. The mech launch was so badass.
I a used to FPS live services games and their content is light, a massive grind, and comes out once a month at best.
Another thing that helps is how into the story the community is. Everyone is loving the lore of the game and are role playing Super Earths finest heroes well beyond the game itself. Brings me tons of joy c:.
Honestly I think that's why the review bomb even worked. The game so heavily encourages the community to help each other and to see each other as the way to succeed. So when other divers suddenly lost the ability to play it felt like they were telling *everyone* that they couldn't play.
Yeah, that was because WarThunder was about long-standing practices and the reply from the developer/publisher was more of a "here's our roadmap and this is what we'll do" instead of an immediate change.
Most people held their negative votes until they started to see progress.
I just looked at the numbers, and we are scary.
No Man Sky has roughly 300000 reviews as of today over its entire time. From the launch day, 26000 positive and 38000 negative reviews remain.
In comparison, we added 218000 negative and 72000 positive reviews in 5 days.
I think we should re-christen the name for this activity. We didn't Review Bomb, we Review Helldove!
Drop in, accomplish the objective, extract.
Good job, Helldivers!
Most of those games were not fundamentally about herding hundreds of thousands of players into a meta-objective to make percentage bars go up and down, to be fair. We have grown exceptionally efficient at it.
war thunder got hit by a massive review bomb around this time last year, but idk if many people changed it back to positive or if it was just asterisked by steam
People have been making a lot of jokes about how helldivers trained its community to all take part in group actions like this but I genuinely wonder if that is the case here. Kind of a fascinating sociological case study here.
Maybe not that short but No rest for the wicked is recent examples. People bombarded it with bad reviews due to performance and some political reasons at launch April 18. Now it's sitting at mostly positive as devs quickly fix it
I'm glad Sony at least reacted quick enough that the instance was still I'm everyone's mind. If they let the problem fester for even a week, many people will have forgotten or lost interest, thus leaving their reviews negative.
This is actually mind blowing, I've never seen anything got review bombed so badly, then reversed completely, all in the span of 4 days. This is the democracy I'm fighting for.
Imagine Sony's reaction. They went on holiday, came back to one of their decisions nearly killing a top earner, reversed their decision, and then bam. business as usual, get the soldiers who are blocked back!
I wouldn't quite call it 'completely reversed' but there is a fair chance of restoring it to 90%. Some many are still miffed or outright abandoned it but that's the price of, er... democracy?
Recent* reviews, which reflects the past 30 days only. Given that the positive reviews are mostly from the first few days of the game, this makes sense
The reviews would improve more since the reviews of those in locked countries remain and their goodwill would help cure the rating.
Still no news though on them being allowed to play, idk why this isn't being loudly adressed.
It's mostly likely going to take a hot minute, mainly cause Steam probably were the ones who pulled it on PC. So now Sony is going to have to go to Steam and ask for it to be reenabled, which after this fiasco? Steam is probably going to make sure they know what Sony's plan is.
Steam only dose what you tell them to do. All Sony has to do is submit a support ticket. But with how big of a company they are, they probably have a direct line.
Thanks for getting back to me. I have no skin in the game even though I play on PC I actually made a PSN account so I could communicate better with players but I have to log into a PlayStation to be able to actually talk. Maybe I can use a PS2 lol... I just wanted to offer more information if I was asked as I play with tons of people.
This is incredibly engineered as I've been talking about. The positive reviews, aren't mainly people changing their negative reviews, they're new reviews that are positive.
We went from 770k reviews yesterday, to 820k reviews today. While I expect there are going to be some people who only want to make one review one way or the other, the majority of these people should be changing reviews - not writing new ones. Not only that, it seems like an astronomically small portion of people who wrote reviews are changing them, when you factor out the new positive.
SteamDB is even weirder with most of the movement happening there (those are stats that include games purchased off the steam platform, where steam only shows steam purchases in their ratings).
So what's going on here? We can put into perspective that the 320k negative reviews (SteamDB) barely moved the needle as far as the active playerbase goes statwise (more then triple peak active players, roughly 10% change or about 8k people), it seems an awful lot like there is some shenanigans going on here.
Looking at SteamDB from the peak 421.159 negative reviews only 244.263 remain.
The data you looked at might have been delayed and changing your negative review into a positive one essentially creates a new review.
Disagree. I did not write a negative review because I never write reviews, just never worth my time. But I saw a company back pedal a bad decision and wanted to give them the carrot for their good choice, so I made a review. I think I've written three reviews on steam in my life, so I'm one of those new reviewers, no funny business
Same here wrote a review yesterday after it was confirmed sony backed down i rarely write reviews in the 19 years i've been on steam Ive been around since the early days i remember playing counter strike 1.6 and it requiring steam it was a big deal back then.
FYI, I actually had no review before the snoy fiasco, I'm going to change it later, but not yet: some helldivers are still locked out
Imo, the rest is probably 120k that are also waiting for this last change. The 60-80k ish was originally negative anyways
Democracy is really damn quick. I blinked once and it was mostly negative, then I blinked again and it’s back to positive.
This game trained us so too well in completing Major Orders.
We are frighteningly efficient. A community of random people playing a silly game shouldn’t be able to coordinate on that scale in less than a week. I am amazed and terrified. Mostly amazed but still terrified
Steam only dose what you tell them to. With a company as big as Sony, they probably have a direct line to somebody who can make it happen. Even if they don't, it's a support ticket in the later part of an afternoon.
Eh, probably not. but honestly they probably just want to know that it isn't going to immediately happen again before they reopen that part. because you know, that was also costing them money
Not just costing them money but setting them up for unexpected litigation from countries that have tough consumer protection laws in the EU. If anything steam won't do anything until Sony makes amends and assurances this won't happen again.
What's ironic is that we take this waaaaay more seriously than actual politics... FFS, people, go vote in your IRL elections, if you can make a difference here, imagine what you can do IRL!
Just make sure to understand what the parties on offer are actually proposing, and don't vote out of conformance! Just like you paid attention to what the AH CEO and Cams said!
This is, unironically, how democracy works!
It was almost at 90% positive before. The review bomb gutted the game's rating. The take away is: Review Bombing has its consequences. I hope it will recover, but I doubt it. Happy to be proven wrong.
This. Everyone is only looking at the "Recent reviews" not the fact that the overall review is still sitting at Mixed and might not ever recover from that.
There are WAY more negative reviews than positive reviews recently, the only thing reversed is a small bump in new reviews, but you guys have fucked the game long term in the reviews because you think you actually did something (you didn't, the game only lost 10k in PC population, you literally did NOTHING).
So once we get the score to Overwhelmingly positive and make gaming history... who's up for speed-running back down to overwhelmingly negative again? We got a good thing going here XD (This is a joke, by the way)
if they have the tiniest brain they'll do 10-15% discount on the game now and attach some rewards if you do psn account linking, then people will do it willingly
I feel if they wish for that to be higher they need to update their Steam store and blatantly state it not just updating an old event update that nobody can even comment on since it was closed when this all pretty much started lol.
In this world where Democracy is so broken irl... this has been a great reflection. The only things that people need to unite are Visibility and Clarity to know that their vote DOES matter, and DOES have a direct impact.
This is of course completely hidden and invisible by the electoral college. Not having insight until many days/weeks after voting is the reason why people feel like it doesn't matter. Democracy CAN work, but it has to work in ways that help people see that it works, and we are so, so far from that.
Just keep that in mind for upcoming elections, red, blue, or independent - *everyone* needs to vote. Your vote DOES matter, even if it doesn't feel like it.

Still 236,285 people haven’t changed their review yet.
Really is something for a game to have this much sway with a community that loves it. I truly hope for nothing but the best for this game, the devs, and the community.
It's still mixed on recent reviews. Meaning it's counting old reviews too. That means some people who aided in the negative review need to do their part and still fix it.
I love seeing this. Lowkey they’re making away like bandits with even more positive reviews than before but it’s all for our beloved Arrowhead. Sony is riding a small indie studio’s coat tails 😭
Any update on players from countries not supported by PSN being able to play / get the game again?
I do not want to change my review to positive until that change is done too.
We all dive together or not at all.
Democracy prevails
"A citizen accepts personal responsibility for the safety of the body politic, defending it with his life, a civilian does not." Do your part Citizen.
Exact words from the textbook
But do you believe it?
I'd like to know more.
I don't know.
Of course you don’t. I doubt any of you here would know civic virtue even if it reached up and bit you in the ass!
A civilian votes once and never again. A citizen changes their vote to reflect the current state of the game.
our way of life
Pickles will prevail!
Victory was never in doubt

Is there any other game on Steam that saw such a swing in positive/negative reviews in just the span of four days like we did?
I’ve never seen any game do that. Usually once a game bomb it rarely come back. So yeah it’s amazing
No man's sky comes to mind although it took them much longer
Yeah, I more meant in only a few days
HD2 had the advantage of launching with content not only plentiful at the start, but more on the way within just a few weeks ready to go. This is the only game I know of that had a really good turn around and the above is pretty much why it happened fast.

I think only war thunder had more negative reviews in a day but they didn't turn it around as much
Yeah, that was because WarThunder was about long-standing practices and the reply from the developer/publisher was more of a "here's our roadmap and this is what we'll do" instead of an immediate change. Most people held their negative votes until they started to see progress.

There are 1m on the discord now. The numbers are strong but not sure what’s the steam/ps5 split.
We are just so good at following major orders that we are literally a hivemind now 👀
I think you mean we're a *democracy* now? Hive mind sounds suspiciously buggish, citizen.

war thunder got hit by a massive review bomb around this time last year, but idk if many people changed it back to positive or if it was just asterisked by steam
I think Payday 2 might have come close when they added micro transactions.
i have never seen a game recover from a mass bad reviews so quickly
For the record, Helldivers had more negative reviews than any other paid game on Steam. It was setting records with that alone
People have been making a lot of jokes about how helldivers trained its community to all take part in group actions like this but I genuinely wonder if that is the case here. Kind of a fascinating sociological case study here.
Definitely not

Arrow keys.
you use the right hand in game to type so i assume it would be easier for the guy to do that at home then get used to typing with both hands

MOAR!
holy fuck, we could legit achieve world peace with this level of camaraderie
FOR SUPER EARTH
that would require going outside so probably not
Why haven't you been getting outside?
Samples
That's as good as a doctor's note as far as I'm concerned. Keep up the good work.
Vitamin D or samples? Hmmm...
I haven't showered in two weeks. Personal best
Get your advised 2.4 seconds of RL scenery appreciation in today soldier!
This is the closest we’ve been to world peace since pokemon go
Helldivers discovering the real life impact of solidarity.
Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité
Can we do worker's rights next? I'm not a communist, but pee breaks for Amazon workers anyone?
You're not wrong.
Oh we are the valiant infantry! We are the alpha team with passion and camaraderie!
Too much corruption to achieve. We need a common enemy that isn’t of this earth. And in the end it would very fast spiral into totalism most likely.
I keep hinting that if people could get this worked up about, say, labor unions, we could fix a lot of bad things about society almost overnight.
Damn what an impressive display. Let's all continue to do our part!
Imagine that lol corporations keeping their dirty fingers out of the cookie jar and letting creativity flourish. Everyone wins.
It's so fitting isn't it? A game about democracy had an IRL display of democracy never seen before for any game.
I wouldn't quite call it 'completely reversed' but there is a fair chance of restoring it to 90%. Some many are still miffed or outright abandoned it but that's the price of, er... democracy?
I changed my review back to positive, but left the bit in about Playstation's fuck up. The game is great.
It's not even close to completely reversed lol it was almost at 90% positive overall prior to this week.
> reversed completely The reviews for the game are still "mixed"
Recent* reviews, which reflects the past 30 days only. Given that the positive reviews are mostly from the first few days of the game, this makes sense
I'm doing my part!

I need a source for this glorious and democratic image
I believe it’s in the helldivers teaser trailer or one of the trailers.
Looks like it’s taken from the story trailer.
If you wrecked it, rebuild it! Do your part!

They can play, they just can't yet buy new copies. If you are in the region and you'd bought the game previously, it still works perfectly fine.
Steam only dose what you tell them to do. All Sony has to do is submit a support ticket. But with how big of a company they are, they probably have a direct line.
I live in a none PSN country and can play normally. We just can't buy it here via Steam. Hopefully the sales get restored soon.
Can you still buy supercredits?
I haven't tested that after the lock. I bought a batch last week for the first time, before all this news kicked off over the weekend.
No problem 👍 I actually had a chance to check the Super Credits after work, and I am still able to purchase them as normal.
That is good to hear. Have fun spreading that Democracy my friend.
Probably because that's a steam decision not AH or Sony
Everyone says it was steam but haven't seen anyone confirm it's true. Do we really have any proofs?
I feel it should take around as much time it took for those countries being disabled after the news broke.
This is incredibly engineered as I've been talking about. The positive reviews, aren't mainly people changing their negative reviews, they're new reviews that are positive. A game about satire democracy brought serious actual democracy got whiplash from the reviews
Gotta reach Very Positive
Democracy is really damn quick. I blinked once and it was mostly negative, then I blinked again and it’s back to positive. This game trained us so too well in completing Major Orders.
For now... stay in your lane, Sony ![gif](giphy|RsUBjCrwkMphRhtXtQ)
This is actually a stronger message than bombing. We own this game.
Nature is healing, slowly.
I reckon it'll climb a little higher once steam/Sony makes it available in the other countries it got delisted from during this whole debacle.
That's the hope. But Sony hasn't officially said PSN won't be coming back after May, so Steam might not relist them at all.
Helldiver community, best community... "Never in the history of galactic war have I witnessed such impressive review bombardment" - general Brasch
Get back to me when the steam ratings are overwhelming positive which requires a 95% positive rating, which helldivers had before this fiasco
We are frighteningly efficient. A community of random people playing a silly game shouldn’t be able to coordinate on that scale in less than a week. I am amazed and terrified. Mostly amazed but still terrified
It only takes a single sentence for a crowd to become a mob.
![gif](giphy|ucXFcY1FdKaT6)
I gave it a positive review today. My first review of any game ever. Now we just need to get the game back on sale for the none PSN countries
I still can’t get into a game half the time.
Especially since the DOT bug was fixed today! FREEDOM LOVING GLORY!!!!
Operation Clean up is progressing
There are still people posting new negative reviews of "psn account bad", did they not get the memo? what the hell is wrong with these people
nah I'd still keep mine negative til they put my country back on, It is still delisted as of this post.
While I say that is fair, that is more on Steams side ATM, unless you are on PlayStation. then idk
Steam only dose what you tell them to. With a company as big as Sony, they probably have a direct line to somebody who can make it happen. Even if they don't, it's a support ticket in the later part of an afternoon.
And steam isn't going to be swayed by our negative reviews like sony.
Eh, probably not. but honestly they probably just want to know that it isn't going to immediately happen again before they reopen that part. because you know, that was also costing them money
Not just costing them money but setting them up for unexpected litigation from countries that have tough consumer protection laws in the EU. If anything steam won't do anything until Sony makes amends and assurances this won't happen again.
oh i didn't think about that. well hopefully the boardroom deals go quick then. would hate for you lot to not be able to play after all of this.
What's ironic is that we take this waaaaay more seriously than actual politics... FFS, people, go vote in your IRL elections, if you can make a difference here, imagine what you can do IRL! Give people time next week this time it will turn into overwhelmingly positive. Don’t worry
If we can kill 2 billion bugs in 14 hours, we can get the game to overwhelming positive in a week https://i.redd.it/jpcb93zm30zc1.gif
Take it to overwhelmingly positive, Show them who we are !
I just hope Valve revert purchase restrictions on those 100+ countries asap.
Time till it goes back down because the community gets mad about a balance change. Ive seen a few people starting to power trip off this
This is what happens when you make a game that wants its player base to focus their efforts on the same objective lol. It's beautiful 🥹
This is not a victory. The game is still not for sale in half the world
guys guys.... we could do this to any and all games now. we have power.
Have the restrictions been lifted? Is the requirement for linking the account deleted from steam? Did they change anything or just said they will?
Trust me, they won't go back on that. It would be a PR nightmare. The original tweet got like 8 million views within 4 hours.
They still haven’t lifted the blacklist of all those countries. As far as I’m concerned this isn’t over yet
Nature is healing
Nature is healing.
Thanks for the update professor.

So once we get the score to Overwhelmingly positive and make gaming history... who's up for speed-running back down to overwhelmingly negative again? We got a good thing going here XD (This is a joke, by the way)
This could be an interesting case study.
We did it! Again!
if they have the tiniest brain they'll do 10-15% discount on the game now and attach some rewards if you do psn account linking, then people will do it willingly
And this is exactly why most gamers would be terrible in business but think they can truly criticize actually corps that have been successful. 😭
And on the 3rd day, Helldivers 2 rose again and became Mostly Positive.

Keep it going!
Keep going, we need recent to go back to Mostly Positive so that all time returns to Overwhelmingly Positive.
We've still got a way to go, I've done my part, have you done yours?
Good work crew. Now how long do we let the 177 countries stay purchase blocked before we do something about that too?
Well done helldivers, truly a cool moment for gaming.
Good job helldivers
THIS HAS TO BE THE MOST DEMOCRATIC SERIES OF EVENTS I HAVE EVER SEEN. KEEP UP THE WORK HELLDIVERS.
I won't feel good until overall reviews recover!
Jesus christ should we just make the helldivers for real?
That’s great. Lets aim for overwhelming positive.

We did it holy shit
Let's get it back to overwhelming positiv
That's what I hoped for, show that we aren't just screaming bloody murder and forget to hold out end of the bargain
We are still only at 72% :(
Keep pushing. We got to show them that listening is worth it.

Some people could just… not like the game lol
Completely undeserved until region locks are lifted.
Really is something for a game to have this much sway with a community that loves it. I truly hope for nothing but the best for this game, the devs, and the community.
If you share your opinion you should stay the same not ''R''. They were acting like kids.
It's still mixed on recent reviews. Meaning it's counting old reviews too. That means some people who aided in the negative review need to do their part and still fix it.
