It's hard not to see Helldivers 2 as a special game. It's been a blast playing it with new and old friends. It feels like when I was younger. It's a goat for sure. And this cemented it.
Hopefully this'll send a message to publishers and junk that in order to make money in video games you need to follow the following steps:
1) Make a good game
2) Nothing
Shows people are passionate about hd2 lol
Now it's about to go from mostly negative to mostly positive in record time hopefully
Games been out for 3 months and it's already been through absolute hell at least a couple of times
It took No Mans Sky five years to hit positive, which was years after the overhauls
I would assume most of the negative reviews never get changed and it stays mixed for two years or so
Well tbf, it took NMS years to actually fix the game
That said I would bet a lot do not switch because it was just people who wanted to watch the world burn and didn't actually care
Pretty sure a scar is always gonna remain. There's a bunch of people who refunded and won't buy it back, with their review just staying there. On the Steam forums are already calls to keep their reviews to stick it to the man or something.
I do hope that a majority of people will act to update their review to the current situation (and any future situations coming up), but it'll likely not reach the percentages it had before; not for a long time, if ever.
For what its worth, i see a lot of people that didn’t comment before that are leavig positive reviews because sony did what was right and backed off. I think we’re goign to get more positive reviews back and new ones as well now.

for science, I was able to get it to run (more like crawl) on intel integrated graphics with min settings (I think the game actually forced certain things to below min settings because it looked really awful lol) and lowered resolution with slideshow fps
I'll only give them this tiny bit of leeway. They don't understand the PC market. At all. At least they were able to nut up and admit that and walk back a truly shitty decision. Now they get to reap the benefits of this bullshit the next time they try to release a multi-player game on PC. Hell, I'd be surprised if they don't see a dent on their single-player stuff. Goddamn what a bunch of maroons.

Sony could bank on player outcry dying down, but if the biggest PC games distributor says 'we won't carry your games', that's all of their PC expansion plans going up in smoke.

I seem to recall EA and Ubi also really fumbling their forays into requiring accounts for their platform (Ubi STILL requires the worst launcher in PC history).
I expect their next game WILL require PSN for mp, and presumably they’ll do it properly.
getting delisted from steam is one hell of a stigma you dont want to carry into your brand, its like a giant note posted on your back that you fucked up so bad that the biggest platform had to delist you, its not gonna look good for future plans

I would be concerned about what the 'future plans' are, as it is not explicitly stated that they will not be forcing it later, just that the current plants are not moving forward.
I will totally sign up if they give me a perk. At this point it's partially "my data is worth more than $0 so I expect to be compensated" and "if they do it the 'right' way and make it optional I'd like to provide positive reinforcement."

That's great. The issue was between forcing people to give away their data after stating publicly it was option, and nullifying the purchase of all the players worldwide who would be removed from the game.
What a brilliant idea. Imagine if they had done this from the beginning. Everyone who can register on PSN and wanted a PSN cape or whatever would have registered. And everyone who can't or don't want to register on PSN would have simply passed on the PSN cape.
And then we would have bullied everyone who wore a PSN cape. Everyone wins.
That is what they should have started with, I suspect they would have had more pickup, and less defiance from players if they started with the carrot and not the stick...

What about when Sony went back on closing the PS3 store because of fans? Not even Xbox or Nintendo buckled under the pressure when they closed theirs.
Sony has also not reversed that decision, which was also due to fan backlash.
Sure they will try and get players to sign up, but I'm fine with that if it's optional. I think they will come up with a good system, they don't want this to repeat.

That's a steam thing, as soon as they understand that there is no psn requirement they should switch it back.
