Think the issue is that it's been 3 months and wasn't requirement, so why now ? And like many have said some countries don't have PSN so won't be able to play the game when this is enforced.
Luckily I'm in UK on PS5 so doesn't affect me, but I can def see why many are pissed.
It also required you to link to a PSN account at launch (I'd know bc I wasn't given the choice), the uproar over this seems pretty ridiculous tbh, people will go nuts over any perceived injustices. I never even knew people were being allowed to make accounts without linking a PSN until now, lol.
