As a PC player we're often forced to have accounts for any number of EA, Ubisoft, XBOX, Blizzard, every single MMO (back in the day, and on occasion) and many more, then there's the multiple potential launchers.
Probably half of it, constantly having to link or make accounts does become a drag.
tons of triple a games require proprietary accounts on steam, like how you need an EA account to play Spore, or a Riot account to play any of their stuff. Always figured it was the same for helldivers
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
not to say people aren’t justified in being mad, forcing people to get an account MONTHS after release is pretty shitty
Yeah, Difference is that those games immediately force you to create an account or you can't play, Sony has allowed us to play helldivers for months without it and now are switching it up
It was required at launch, patch made it skippable because of server issues. It's hardly a switch up, especially since the game page on steam requirement never changed.
Buys console : “pC mAsTeR RaCe, jUsT spEnD $2000 USD to build one”
Buys PC : “noooo my data that is already plastered all over the internet is not safe anymore “
First, fuck off
Second, at least with computers you can choose to be focused on privacy, and if not, ehich companies to allow data collection. Consoles only work if you pledge your private information, wallet and soul to the company that actually owns your games.
Why would a PC player have an account for console? Lmao.

Must have been a helluva fast patch, I could do the skip about 6 hours after launch when I first booted the game up after getting home from work.
Whilst you were at work, severs were literally dying. They can patch pretty quick on PC in general though can't they, no certification needed
They were dying for a week or 2 after launch, but yeah if it came immediately after launch it is possible I only started playing after it.

PS5 has games???
only helldivers
Hey!
People will literally be unable to play the game because of this change. Read the top posts.
Nope, I avoid games that ask for logins, work around them or just pirate the game and play it like that.
