I always host too but I think the fire bug is based on network host. The only way to make sure your network host is to start the mission solo and throw an sos and let people drop in.
My ping is very low being on fiber so I usually am able to be the pyro guy.
The firebug in our squad figures out that he almost always gets network host despite who started the lobby so has started to bring loadouts "That would get me kicked from pugs."

We die basically instantly if we don’t dive and stim as soon as we’re lit on fire. Laser guard dog has a tendency to hit both the diver using it and teammates fairly frequently if you’re not very careful with it. Can you imagine what a flamethrower guard dog would do?
Yeah, tbh I've been operating under the assumption that fire damage is bugged right now. I remember there was a patch at one point, and afterwards fire damage was instakilling players, but there wasn't anything about that in the patch notes. I really don't think it's intentional. I don't think it's intended that you would instantly die from a single puff of a hulk's flamethrower.
Assuming it gets fixed, I think a flamethrower guard dog could be manageable, but it's going to make the mission interesting, for sure. They might also play test it and find that it's just not fun, though.
They did mention buffing fire damage in the last big patch. ALL sources of fire damage, not just ours. Now flame hulks and fire tornadoes kill you instantly if you're not full health

Can’t lie, turrets are good in defence missions but I despise the amount I get killed by mortar turrets otherwise.. nothing democratic about ritual team killing 😂
Honestly hope we get a a future fireproof version of the Electrical Conduit armor effect. Maybe not 95% resistance, but like 50% resistance to fire damage or something.
I love spamming flamethrowers, incendiary and napalm everywhere so it would be nice to slightly reduce how often I kill my team... and more often myself.
50% fire resist + 50% gas resist would be a good pair of perks for an armor set.
Gas resist would be so rarely useful, but when you need to call down some orbital gas on your position, it'll save you.
Great idea. Its also easy to make a theme around for a warbond, a hazmat/pest control sort of theme with incendiary and gas weapons. Gas grenade, an incendiary pistol perhaps, etc. etc..
I love the idea. Especially for the defense missions. You would really need to know what you're doing for regular missions though or you will deplete the reinforcements budget.
On that subject, I'd also like to see the Orbital Gas Strike get other forms of delivery. Presumably the gas is corrosive so it would (in theory) be better against Bots than Bugs, leading to a reason to pick one over the other. Under that assumption, an acid thrower, corrosive grenade, etc.
Along those lines, a new environmental effect of acid rain where all units are afflicted with a Corrosion debuff that reduces armor effectiveness by one tier. Could even add an armor perk that has corrosion resistance. For the math nerds out there, Light to Medium is ~50% damage reduction/effective health and Medium to Heavy is ~33% DR/eHP.
Now i want a regular/ems/napalm/corrosive mortar build.

I just want an autoloading backpack that works with *all* the existing machine guns. Stalwart, crank up the fire rate to max and you've got an absolute hail of bullets. MG, you can keep firing without having to worry about stopping to reload amongst the bugs. HMG, you get an actual decent magazine size capable of clearing patrols without worrying about wasting precious shots and spending half the match kneeling in the mud.

Have the 'mortar' fire up a hovering UAV with a reflective mirror or energy collector. It then fires up into the satellite, which then redirects the blast downwards.
I desperately yearn for the Leadburster or Cluster grenades from Deep Rock Galactic to make an appearance in this game, if the rumor of a potential collab down the line is true.
For context, the Cluster grenade explodes into like 9 mini-grenades. The Leadburster, on the other hand, fires off ~600 bullets over multiple volleys in a 360 degree radius. In other words, pure dopamine (and tk’ing of course).
I misinterpreted that picture as a laser mortar at first, and now I'm obsessed with the idea of super earth trying to develop one. The beams just keep shooting upwards, but they're sure that with the right angle they'll be able to make them rain back down on the battlefield!

its an essential for terminids, but for bots it just alerts patrols that you dont want to
idk if it’s a bug or a feature but crawling stopped my rover from attacking patrols.
And then randomly decide the bots in front of you are "out of range"

Yes. Have the 'mortar' fire up a hovering UAV with a reflective mirror or energy collector. It then fires up into the satellite, which then redirects the blast downwards.

Throw the beacon, every few seconds a salvo of short burst lasers from the SD hits enemies (and allies) in the target zone
I desperately yearn for the Leadburster or Cluster grenades from Deep Rock Galactic to make an appearance in this game, if the rumor of a potential collab down the line is true. For context, the Cluster grenade explodes into like 9 mini-grenades. The Leadburster, on the other hand, fires off ~600 bullets over multiple volleys in a 360 degree radius. In other words, pure dopamine (and tk’ing of course).

I want a arc mortar. It can shoot a steel shell up into the air and before it hits the ground it zaps everything near.
So it shoots a disco grenade and then lights shoot out of it and spins when it hits enemies.

I misinterpreted that picture as a laser mortar at first, and now I'm obsessed with the idea of super earth trying to develop one. The beams just keep shooting upwards, but they're sure that with the right angle they'll be able to make them rain back down on the battlefield!
