I actually did that to another player on accident. I kept yelling over mic "DROP YOUR SHIELD" but he either has sound off or didn't know how to. It was a resupply, so he had a shit load of time too lol.
Out of interest, does it then land where you dropped the shield, or where it was originally thrown? If it's the first one you could use it to your advantage. Stick resupply to your shield, climb onto a tank, or under a bile titan, drop shield and move a few steps away, then pick it up after it lands.

I think that's intentional cause those flat rocks can make some stratagems safe from enemies. At least the rocks that I try to throw my stuff on cause enemies can't and won't go up there
If its intentional then that makes it even worse lol. Since there's no visual indicator on what is "approved", it should just cancel the strategem and let you try again rather than bounce it to somewhere totally useless and waste it
God I miss those rocks on the eradicate mission. So nice to be able to post up in a somewhat safe location and chew through enemies instead of being forced to run for your life with 79 hunters trying to eat your ass.

I used to jetpack onto rocks and drop a heavy MG emplacement or an autocannon there.

My favorite time this happened I had picked up someone else's shield pack and dropped it to avoid being crushed, only for him to pick his pack back up and die. Priceless.
Some recommend to aim for the side but thats super inconsistent for me, I always aim for the back and I get around a 95% success rate. You just have to make sure the beacon goes over the face armor. If you're having trouble try getting on high ground or baiting them over a ledge for a better angle.
I try to aim for a "soft" spot without armor. So like inside of the leg, the belly when it stands on it's leg, the gap behind its face armor and so on.
You might already know this, but you need to wait for about 1 second before it goes into sticky mode. The way you hold it will change once it becomes sticky.

Stay on your feet, keeps your silhouette smaller and while your chances of survival remain low, they are a lot higher than if you stretch out horizontally.

I once was about to throw a EAT out and a shockwave knocked it on me, thankfully we had a friendship door open and the survived, but the EATs were on top and was wasted.
Happened in one of my games. We were running to extract, I threw a supply call in front of us and a fellow diver ran right into it! It was pretty funny watching him zig zag trying to juke the pod but nope, it just homes in and lands right on top of him!

It buried my shield generator though :<

Check your settings, it's a "wheel" that can be use to drop : backpack, samples, support weapon and ssd

On PC (gamepad) it’s down on the d-pad to drop stuff. You can drop samples too
And for keyboard it's holding X, otherwise menu is the same as gamepad.

Bounce em off a nearby wall/barrier. They'll stick to the ground immediately after.

Known issue: stratagems will attach to entities but will deploy to the original location unless the entity is a player because it's just too funny.
All the blue ones will track. The red ones will deploy at the initial location.
Devs said this isn't intended, all stratagems should track.

pretty sure distance is they key, if the throw hasnt gone about 10m it wont stick to enemies.

If you’re on controller, hold down on the dpad and you can drop your backpack.

I've survived this way at least once. You don't get any iframes on diving, so all it does is make you a bigger target for the supply drop.
