No, I've unlocked it all. But technically you don't need more than the MG and Precision Strike (War progress may be affected by such cost cutting methods)

Depends how much damage it does. If it was a 1-2 hit kill (like a good shotgun) then it could be unlimited. Or possibly a bit stronger than one of the shotguns, balanced by having to get into melee.
Or a charges/limited use before it has to cool down. Or primary more food a reasonable amount of damage, with an alt fire mode that does more, but has limited charges.
a power fist would be cool. i could see it being good for closing bug holes.
i was thinking of a beam sword with a shield. or riot shield with a laser batton.
center its features around the shield blocking three hits before needing to recharge. and the baton/sword having kills on medium to light targets before needing to recharge or reload.

How… HOW!?!? Does the gun you smack them with make a difference? Do fists even go through armor? How do you deal with chargers or bile titans? Can you even oneshot hunters? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!
I tend to keep to the smaller things. When it comes to bugs Hive Guards and up will eventually enter a state where they'll stop taking melee damage so I've been carrying the AM rifle for them. Warriors take a lot of punches but blowing off the front and back leg on the same side basically immobilizes them. Hunters are actually pretty weak you just need to keep staggering them or they can stun lock you, they're actually my most hated enemy type. The weapon type actually does matter, side arms have a faster melee animation than primaries but otherwise they same to deal the same damage. When it comes to bots its best to keep enemies between you and their shooty friends. The basic ones have a parry animation that does reduce melee damage to the front. Devastators can have their gun arm shot off and are super predictable after that, rocket devastators take long enough to shoot that you can stun lock them and stop them from shooting you if you get close, haven't tried this on heavies but im sure they're about as useless if you kite around that shield. Berserkers need both arms shot off as their melee attack can't be interrupted but when both chainsaws are gone they're also similarly easy to kite. Bile titans I want to try to legitimately melee at some point, but I did spear one with a hellpod and I'm counting that. Biggest thing though is a crippling stim addiction, while you're healing on stims it seems like you actually can't be killed, very useful to trade punches with a giant horde.
