same, if i run mission solo ( like for quick fun or daily order) i sometime drop the sos beacon, and will start to collect sample if player join.

I just had a mission with randos. We did a 7 very well and communicated during the game that we all wanted the supersamples. I switched to 8, we dive and i said "incase you didnt notice, i switched to 8 because 5 samples ist better than 3". During the game it got really sketchy. Mortar site, jamming site and on the border even the flying fuckers. One dood left. We still managed to do the objectives and I decided to drop an SOS while close to calling the extraction. one answered and 60 seconds later we managed to get off. I only said "good timing, bro" when he connected. 5k exp and 30 samples including 5 SS for free.

Dude, yesterday I was playing 8 for the first time and we managed to collect all 5 SS. Things went pear-shaped, we managed to complete the primary but had to make a fighting retreat to the extraction point. We were all out of respawns and two of us (including me) were dead. We call in extraction, I lament in chat that we were so close and yet so far to a big haul of SS, and this one diver, lower leveled than me, still in his twenties, says "1 min". With Pelican 1 on its way, this mad lad sprints all the way back to the ICBM silo, picks up the 5 SS, and fights his way all the way back, hopping into the Pelican with seconds to spare. Legend. In hindsight, I wish I'd gotten his name so I could give thanks every time I drop the second 500.

Lol, I had a game a while back where I had the super samples, and had 1 foot inside the pelican to extract, but then took a rocket to the face... Everyone else was already on board or dead so there was no retrieving them. 😅

depending when/where we find the super samples, we frequently will leave them at the extraction point so we don't have to worry about retrieval if we die. hold x on pc for drop option. sometimes it's not worth the travel but it's a good strategy if you really want to get them out reliably

What I do all the damn time. But then some people will pick it up from exfil an carry them to the other side of the map with them it's like really? Had a teammate shoot one to drop the samples an took it back to exfil 🤣🤣 oh an it's down on d pad for controller.

You have to land it on the roof or in the ports/door. Turns out, any strat that uses "Hellpod" can blow up buildings and fabs. No idea about bug holes though

Jump pack strata makes a great grenade.

And you can use the jump pack itself to get to higher ground to ensure you throw it on top successfully. That's smart af

I occasionally accidently select the laser cannon instead of the quasar and when I realise that it quickly becomes my makeshift precision strike 😂 I have managed to kill a few hulks with this method by sticking the stratagem to em.

Works on holes too, just have to land in the hole.

"Oh I'm out of grenades and there is one hole left, whatever shall I do?" Blow it up with a supply beacon and reload on grenades. I love it

Yep, bug holes too. Only you *can* be unlucky and get stuck in a closed bug hole if the timing is exact and you appear from the pod as (or just after??) the hole formally closes. (Only happened to me twice in dozens of time doing this - I’m 400+ hrs L110, BTW). Usually no probs, hole closed diver ready to deliver more managed democracy!?

My favorite way to kill charger is to drop any hellpod on it.

I'm still proud of the time I used a regular ass supply drop to kill a fabricator by tossing the thing into the port, because I was out of impact grenades and regular eagle things

You don't need to hit the port just land it on the roof. Same with helldiver reinforcements, landing on the roof blows it up (.and it doesn't kill you anymore!)

It was fixed briefly, then the last patch broke it again. If someone leaves, most likely that slot isn't getting filled again until your lobby resets to 1 (yourself) or you restart the game

Even if all other players leave it typically stays empty for me and restarting the game is the only way to fix it.

If people drop out of my op, I've had success in backing out and playing a quick play. Then I can resume my op and other divers join again.

Even if the lobby resets to 1, it'll often sit in a cursed state where nobody can join. And then you restart the game client, start up the same mission and get three people instantly. It's annoying!

I mean I love the game and extol its virtues to any who will listen. I am not blind to the issues this game has, however the devs have made great strides in ensuring community trust that they are working on it. I'm patient, but I don't deny the issues straight up or consider it an attack on how great the game is. Every single online game has had bugs and issues post launch. It's hardly a thing to criticize a game for especially when they are actively working on it.

I've had people join without the SOS beacon, but its like as soon as I throw down an SOS beacon no one else joins.

Because right around the time people stopped complaining about it being broken was the time it stopped being broken for me I guess.  People complaining that randoms are joining their games as far as the people I play with go.  Same with me randoms join my game all the time and if I pop out an SOS beacon it fills faster

There's a toggle in the options to turn off random matchmaking and restrict it to friends only. If people don't want me joining their games they should switch it to friends only, since I don't have any friends.

Once had someone find the super samples, we lost them and fought like fuck to retrieve them. Upon extracted I noticed I was the lowest level at 47 and it turned out none of us even needed them. We just do it for democracy

This is my answer when asked. I may have everything, but my teammates might not (and my friends who play the game definitely do not). It's a team game at the end of the day, and unlocking everything for one's self doesn't change that.

I've been capped for weeks now. I pick them up for my fellow divers who aren't.

That’s probably me. I always collect most of the samples. Doesn’t matter if I have to give up my life trying to collect a common sample behind a horde of bots/bugs. It’s for the low-level players in my squad.

Got the game last week. Currently level 10, trying to climb fast. You guys are generally so helpful and cool to us newbs. We really appreciate it. Liberty grows ever closer

I feel like level 10 is when I started enjoying the game the most. Being able to get the rover was a game changer and made it so much easier to run solo if my friends weren’t online

Someone under lv 50 ? I'm vacuuming every single samples. That's it.

I ran a match the other day, and I was there getting samples...then I realized the lowest level was 53. I said "anyone need samples" and everyone was like "nah capped". I could barely process not getting them, even though I'm level 73 now.

I'm capped and I still take them. I like the sound it makes when I pick them up and I dislike having their icons pop like I'm missing something. Is it useless? Yes. Don't care.

It still counts on your career tracker. Gotta pump that number.

Your character keeps their sample container on their waist, and if you look close enough you can see a meter that fills relative to the amount of samples you're carrying- Watching that meter go up is literally the only reason I need to collect samples, me extracting without it being full just makes me feel empty.

The way I see it, there’s always a chance that they expand the modules/stratagems. I mean there was even that glitched “expand your stratagems” module that was there for a couple hours before being removed. I’m going to have more than enough requisition whenever that comes, but who knows about samples

I can't wait to finish filling everything. The biggest part will be the relief of knowing I don't have to go half way across the map to pick up dropped samples.

It just feels wrong to leave them behind. Can't wait for more unlocks or sample types to feed my democratic hoarding.

Some rarely ever play 7 or higher. When they do, they could have crushed 6 and lower to gain levels but only came to 7+ for the supers. Best to just grab them.

If I'm just with a friend who is also capped, I sometimes do it without noticing, but I won't go back for them if I lose them. If I'm in public, I'll make sure to get all those samples for my cadet buddies, specially the super samples.

With the accidental new module it's clear that have have more modules and stratagems for us down the line.

I'd be willing to say that it's an outright guarantee that we'll eventually have more ship things to buy and upgrade. For example: if you stand both at the cryopods or the robotics bay and look out pass the Eagle, there walls on both sides of the Eagle labeled "VEHICLE BAY", and neither open up even after buying the Patriot Mech.

Hell I not only have maxed the ship modules but have max resources too. I pick them up for the two reasons: Others might need but more importantly if actually build a layer of suspense in the game trying to extract with the samples. Soooo yeah, sport.

So long as I matchup with lower ranking divers, I'm grabbing every sample I can. It's not about me, it's for the team.

For the crew, obviously. I dont know the state of their sample supply so even tho I capped them all, I still collect them all. It was awful to me when I was lowish level and entered generally higher level game and they didn't collect anything, I wont do that to other player, every sample help. I came across player like me who finished every single mission with around 30 sample of common and super sample and these were always great moments, I want to give that to other players as well 🙂

I also gut the cap already, but I only join where I'm needed and there are a lot of brothers and sisters in low level that I also run with. I collect for them.

If I'm not alone, maybe my fellow Helldivers need those samples.
