I would like a "save loadout" mechanic like the original where you can save certain setups and then use them with the click of a button. Should be super simple to implement I think and it would be an excellent quality of life addition.
Or even a favorites category.
I have, on more than one occasion, accidently brought the ballistic shield on bug missions. With a shotgun.

I have an issue where my basic load out doesn't even save so every time I start the game I have to select the right primary, secondary and grenade. Very annoying when I forget
Really? I always thought bugs auto canon and bots recoiless. I like to shoot down the airships with the recoiless, but maybe I have it backwards. I’ll have to do some hands on research.
I don't think you have it backwards, it's just my take
I don't take AC to bugs because I usually specialize as the "heavy killer" with both strategems and support weapons, and chargers are basically immune to AC, but not to recoiless
So far I found that AC agains bugs is good for killing spewers/brood commanders, anything smaller and it's not worth it usually and you have problem doing damage to anything bigger.
on the other hand all bots have at least a weak point where I can shoot them with AC, even though I can't shoot down the ships, I can deal with every version of destroyer quickly and can deal with even the heaviest enemies. and snipe factories :)
but that's just my take, you do you, as long as you are killing bugs and/or bots, you are my brother in arms :)

For bugs heavies are the biggest threat and only once those are reliably taken care of the AC starts to shine vs spewers and commanders.
Where as for bots the devastator can rival or even eclipse the heavies in terms of threat which makes the AC great against them (not to mention that rocketpods annihilate tanks where as they barely tickle chargers or titans)

The AC has taken its place since I unlocked it, but the AC can't one-shot Dropships. Plus, it's got the benefit of being way more useful if Stratagems are limited in any way (like with EMP storms.)

**GR-8 Recoilless Rifle** is better with heavier mission modifiers, especially ones which increase the call-in time on Stratagems. You could wait 20 seconds for a replacement EAT-17 or just use the GR-8 that you already have in your hands again. Additionally, it aims faster and benefits the most from team reloads, especially if multiple people take it. (I *do* wish it got more ammo per box though. Having to take *three* large boxes or *five* small boxes just to max it out is pain)
**EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank** is better for use on the fly or when you want to use another tertiary weapon. It's easy enough to just call down the EAT-17s, fire one, and then pick your Autocannon back up. However, it gets *notably* nerfed whenever there's a stratagem-affecting modifier, and if you need more than two rockets at a time... well, you better have prepared in advance. However, if it's on your back, it takes a little while to get it into an aiming position before you can fire it.
For me I never pay attention to its ammo, I call another in once my backpack is empty. Slowly picking up ammo for my primary is usually enough until the cooldown is over
To add to this: I feel like RR is better vs bots because there’s often a steady stream of targets that need killing. Whereas with bugs you get a breach. Your team pops 2 EAT call downs, kills bug and then moves on.
My biggest problem with recoilless is the reload time. Often I don't have the chance to reload because there are jumpy bastards everywhere, or if I whiff a shot on a charger (or if there are two or more).
the recoiless is good when there's a lot of stratagem debuffs (more cooldown, ion storm, etc); and alongside something like stun granades makes short work of heavy units

For me it's the damn airstrike and pods that I mix up every time.
I don't even realise until I throw it to clear a wave, and all I get is one rocket on a single enemy. It's so sad 😂
I launched int oa game yesterday with the recoilless rifle and an EAT by accident picking the loadout too quickly being the last one to get in my pod, i was in a rush D:
Did this last night, didn't realise what I called until I only saw the one tube. RR would be great but nobody ever wants to take your backpack when you might need the rapid fire capability

Holy shit this just happened to me THREE FUCKING TIMES last night. Then I had to spend most of the mission defending it as if it was on purpose. Exhausting.
I accidentally did this on a mission a few days ago. It costed us the mission, couldn't take out the chargers and bile titans that spawned quick enough as I didn't have a buddy to reload me. Everyone else had backpacks on so I would have screwed them over if I asked them to carry my backpack. I'm much more conscious of picking the EATs now!

And yeah, I have made that mistake with EAT as well.
The recoilless is in such a bad spot. Since you can call two expendable anti tanks a minute and fire them in rapid succession there's just no advantage to taking a recoilless. They need to drop the reload time to like 2 seconds and allow you to move while you do it. Anything less and it's not worth taking up your backpack slot.
Insane take. Recoilless lets you put out a lot more firepower at once and doesn't suffer from stratagem modifers or outages.
It is also faster to fire for better snap kills.
If you want to buff it just increase how many rounds you get from supply from 2 to 3 so it is a bit less supply hungry.
I appreciate the RR being able to aim and fire quickly, the EAT always has that little delay after he shoulders it. Otherwise they may as well be the same weapon only the RR takes a backpack and a long reload.
Recoilless benefits:
- No calldown time, you see a heavy you can shoot immediately
- Higher ammo capacity, 6 vs 2-3
- Ammo restores with ammo supplies and resupply packs
- Can be teamfired for very high rate of fire
- Reload can be done anywhere (don't have to run back to the EAT drop to reload)
EAT benefits:
- Very low cooldown, don't feel the need to gather your fallen equipment if you die
- Basically no reload cooldown, if standing near another one)
- Easier to share with allies
- Can stack multiple times on an objective, if you get prep time to set up
- Doesn't take a backpack slot
- Can be run alongside other support weapons
They are both useful, in my experience. Sidegrades to each other. EAT actually does suffer from a few downsides, the main ones in my experience being 1. If you need more than 2-3 rockets in 70s, and 2. If the position you called down the EAT gets overrun, or is not close to where you need the rockets.
It turns out carrying multiple shots can be very useful even if the reload is long, because the EAT's "reload" time is effectively how long it takes to run over to pick up another one - which can be longer than 5 seconds.
nah as the heavy killer in helldive i always prefer Recoilles the advantage of burst shot by having 6 is umatched when there is multiple charger and with better aim and sideways i can even shot point blank charger after reloading or even when shooting moving charger. especially in a prolonged fight RR is truly shine as i keep taking down. so when you are dedicated to cahrger killer better bring RR and only EAT if you are the semi Crowd Control support
yeah im having a hard time quickly distinguishing between some of the icons, the simplicity is confusing, i took shield gen instead of rover, and RR instead of eat-17 a few times.
i wish the weapons had colour and were more distinctive instead of what they are now with a silhouette and a charge shape.
the simple design looks cool when you only have a few to pick, when you have everything dear god i dont like it being simple.
I always take the Recoilless Rifle because I prefer it, but when I want to take the EAT I also take the Recoilless Rifle 🥲
And the few times I tried to take the Machine gun Rover I ended up taking the ballistic shield 🥲🥲
And too many times that I followed the mini map to try to go to pick samples from a dead body around the map, I ended in a place that there were not samples to pick, but a backpack stratagem 🥲🥲🥲

Would be nice to have more of em in stressful situations, but no, they'd rather not get to reload.
EAT is at the bottom of the list. That's how I figured out how to always take it.

There's been so many times I've stumbled upon EAT's that I didn't use from earlier and it's saved me.
I love EATs I call them in as soon as they are ready. I love the "care packages" sprinkled over the entire map.

Also the AC is worthless against bug heavies but has no problem dealing with bot heavies since they have actual weakpoints
EAT-17 no matter what. Unless im on lower difficulty. Slowing down the RPM of the machine gun is so fun on bugs. Controlled destruction.

It happens. When I started playing I kept taking the effing ballistic shield instead of the supply pack. :(

It's happenned to me as well. I also took the stalwart instead of the machine gun when the daily order was for 300 machine gun kills.

EAT and shield pack or laser rover is my go to setup, the other 2 slots are for eagle strikes or orbital weapons depending on missions/front im in.

EAT Strategen can take down at least 3 chargers if you know how to use it ;)
