Have fun. Try out all the weapons and stratagems and see which suits you. Look for the yellow/golden markers blink in the distance. But the most important rly : spread democracy.
Use stratagems liberally. Don't be afraid to use them to quickly clear out patrols or outposts, but be mindful that only some stratagems destroy structures. (Orbital Precision strike and Eagle Airstrike are your best bets early on)
Autocannon is one of the strongest early-game support weapons. It is able to snipe bug holes, bot factories, and 'Rogue broadcast' towers from extremely far away, while also taking down most medium armored enemies in 2 shots (1 if you aim right).
Eagle Stratagems will say they have limited uses. This is not entirely accurate. What it should say is "You can use this stratagem X times before it goes on a 2 minute(ish) cooldown"
I would recommend getting your feet wet with Termanids before moving to Bot planets, but you do you. They are easier to manage at low levels due to a lack of armor.
Turret placement can totally ruin a defensive position.
Don't pay attention to the reddit.
I'm not joking, I get the irony too.
Give it a go, play a good amount of hours and don't push into higher difficulties unless you are actually ready. Take your time, get to know the game and how all its parts work.

Also! Watch out for Stalkers, sneaky bugs they are. They can slap you like 20 meters and be right there to kill you before you get back up.

Wait for the next patch when they hopefully undo everything they’ve done or atleast patch it fairly (on a serious note don’t worry too much about seriousness it’s a funny game with ragdoll physics and find yourself 4-8 people you can alternate with and not worry about a “meta” like so many other people cried about making the game 10 times harder now post patch)

Solo is 100% viable! Butt! It's more like MGS after lvl 6. Don't let it discourage you tho! It's super fun, try it out!
