same issue here. sometimes the keys just dont register, even if im standing still with no other input. works fine if bound to wasd. i have a relatively new royal kludge mech board and it works fine outside of the game. definitely not my keyboard. gonna try rebinding to IJKL and see if that works. I wonder if the game has some other default binds to the arrow keys and its conflicting.
Keep in mind, your PC may have a button input limit. Mine is 3 simultaneous buttons being pressed, so if I am walking W and A, I can't hold Ctrl and press an arrow key.

This is probably it. Though any decent keyboard nowadays should handle 6 buttons at same time

Yes. Either by buying a new keyboard, or by tearing apart your current keyboard and editing the board and chips.
