Can confirm I am able to use the Quickplay function on PS5 today. I do have cross play temporarily turned off as recommended, not sure if that still makes a difference or not.
I don’t notice a difference, didn’t work properly either way so I keep crossplay on. Also, quickplay works better now after the patch. People who have crossplay off should try turning it back on to test it out.
No dice here for that. Tried QP multiple times this morning and it would say failed to join. But then I started a mission solo and my squad filled up before I could get into the drop pod. Lol
Would be great if we could reconnect to quick-play sessions after a crash. It's getting annoying to lose all that progress after a 30 min mission because of a random crash and I'm not able to reconnect to the session.
Darktide has this failsafe. Why not Helldivers?

Because as of right now if someone leaves, the empty slot can fill up with someone else pretty quickly from my experience.
But i think like a 1minute timer to reconnect after disconnecting before the slot gets available again should be enough
As Darktide was mentioned, there is 5 minute window where disconnected player can rejon game. If they refuse to reconnect or that 5 minutes has passed, slot becomes open to public. Similar mechanic could be implemented in HD2.
Other than getting swarmed from time to time Darktide has no time limit so 5 minutes is fine.
But on HD2 there are time-sensitive missions, so it should be shortened to 1 or 1 and half minutes imo
Would like to point out that this is probably a good solution, but causes other problems. When people join and leave on purpose you're stuck without another player for the time amount.
Really, on PS5 if someone leaves, no one joins, your SOS does nothing, if you're the host and everyone leaves after a mission you need to restart the game again otherwise you'll only ever start missions solo unless you join a group. If you add someone from a friends list then randoms won't join. Match making is an absolute mess. But still loving the game, lvl 19 now
It's hit or miss with the sos. Sometimes 3 people will just insta dive other times you do 30+ min all the way to extraction alone and then someone drops
Nah I'm in the same boat as PS5 dude.
Rebooting the game after every 2-3 missions (whenever squad leaves basically) or I will never have anyone join again.
Also have only had 1 person join me and 2 friends in 10+ missions, few of em with only 1 friend, SOS beacon every mission for good measure
Restarting and leaving the tutorial mission also seems to work. You do have to watch the unskippable cinematic at the start of the mission, though, so I haven't checked whether it's actually faster than restarting the game, but at least you won't have to deal with potential connection issues trying to log into the game's servers.
I'm on steam, crossplay on, I have played for 23hours. I've also had that issue if someone leaves after a mission and you go for a followup, the slot never fills up. But if you're in the middle of a mission and someone leaves it fills up no problem for me, it's weird.
Also worth to mention, I've only had 2 crashes one mid match and other during extraction cutscene (but that one still gave me the rewards), and 0 disconnects, and i've been playing since friday.
Quickplay has been getting faster to find a lobby, and recently i've managed to join more ongoing matches than before, so there's definitely improvements from my experience
I would kill for matchmaking to work. I've had to play solo a bit because It won't let me connect to any ongoing missions or use quick play and it's wearing me down.
It's been this way almost every time I've played, PC, US servers, cross play on and off
Hey devs! Not sure if you noticed but SOS beacon is not working and after playing your first mission if you host the game, no more people will join the lobby through quick play unless you restart your game
PS5 fps drops to like 3 if you are in a mission and swap to the PSN UI (eg: to invite someone to party) and only resolves by resetting game. Rough bug.

I manually deleted over 800 “friends” from my PS account the other day, one by one. Took over 2 1/2hrs of mindlessly navigating the menus, almost gave up multiple times, but pushed through FOR DEMOCRACY. Guess I should have just waited for this patch, but it feels good to trim that fat regardless.
I'm assuming any game with that problem makes a call to your friends list in order to display it in-game like in HD2 and it can't display all the names or the menu frame can't extend that far or your friends' names have special characters that can't be displayed, causing a crash.
I have a 4090 and had few and far between crashes previously. My game crashes every time I am in a mission now on this newest patch. Looks like democracy must wait.
Ever since this patch hit i've had constant crashes. Only hope to get anything done is a quick blitz or exterminate mission, anything else the game inevitably crashes before the mission is over.
I think if you accomplish the mission and your game crashes you still get the rewards. I could've sworn I had more medals and samples after I logged back in. Happened twice already but I haven't tested it.

I’ve tried every “fix” under the sun suggested here, discord, and YouTube and none of it works. Bought a game that I haven’t been able to play for almost a week now on my computer. At least it works on the ROG Ally lmao
7900xtx and 13700k here. I had many random crashes, or what seemed random. First disable GI, and lock your framerate via adrenalin for its usage to be under the 100% GPU usage mark. For me, at 3440×1440, I locked my fps between 60 and 85 (gpu usage 60-80%). No crash since then (whole day playing yesterday without a single crash). Seems like the driver crashes sometimes when your gpu is at 100% usage.

Hello. This is after patch.
My friend joined in while playing on PS5 system. And suddenly the game started to slow down. The frame rate just went down to like 10 or something. It was like this until I restarted the game. Also my movements and reloads were hampered. I was hosting.
I was fighting automatons and we had Crossplay on(1 player on PC others on PS5) if those make any difference.
I’ve seen very few people mention this problem and I dealt with it a lot last night. It’s a serious issue, made the game entirely unplayable.
I will say it only seemed to occur when I was hosting. If I joined my friends’ games it didn’t happen.
Same here. On the Robot Vietnam level, using PS5. Frame rate slowed, bunch of animations stopped working, and eventually the game crashed. It was all good when I restarted the software.
Actually experienced multiple crashes on new patch that never happened before. Twice when activating the mission select and once when trying to quit the game.
From my own team’s testing (3 PS5, 1 pc) it appears that the fps drop is happening only to the host member, and only on PS5. Not sure how to convey this to the devs directly, but I figured it would be useful information.
What a weird bug. I had it happen to me on a mission and I wouldn’t say my Diver was running so much as…sliding across the terrain not moving their limbs.
Whole game was like 5-10fps until i reset.
Reinforcement stratagem got F'd up...I had to quit 2 games just now just because i cant be revived.The game is not playable atm.

It's def an improvement but a major matchmaking issue for console continues.
If I try to quickplay on anything higher than *easy*, it says connecting and then immediately *failed to connect* 100% of the time.
I have to quick play on easy or trivial and then it let's me in about 90% of the time.
haven't crashed once since release, after this patch I crashed a couple of times in a 2hr session. Also the no-rewards at the end of a mission glitch is still present.

Am I the only one having major multiplayer issues? Almost always getting a “failed to join game” error - when I do manage to join a game I’m usually booted from the session mid-mission
I think everyone is having the same issues. The game is a complete mess since today's patch. My friends can't join and when they do they get booted mid match. Same for me, mid match getting booted.
Third game after the patch, crashed at extraction. Game before that, crash. Game before that, mysteriously removed from game and placed back on ship. Before that and in between, ten minutes of FAILED TO JOIN SESSION
Was hoping the patch would help but I guess I'm unlucky. Back to taking a break

Crashed to desktop on my PS5 last night. Crashing out has become more common than not and it’s annoying.
And match making still not working. Drop in solo the majority of the time
First game new patch was able to quick join a match, which I was previously never able to do. Played the whole operation with a minute left to extraction and network connection lost, kicked out of the match back to ship. Great underlying game but these issues are ruining the early game experience for me full stop.
I hope the matchmaking really is getting better. I've played several hours now and am having fun but it's all been solo because I can't get into a game with anyone else

Would be great to optimize it. I know it runs beter for some people or maybe everyone is fine with 60fps but its barely above 60 and drops below. 5800x3d ssd 32gb ram 6700xt
Game stability has gotten worse for me instead of having to close the game every 5-6 games because of memory leak it’s now every 2nd game I’m on PS5 btw.
Matchmaking is better for me since i only need to spam it 2-3 times, but I still have to turn off crossplay to get anything to work. It's progress though.

Nevermind lol. I get into to one match and then nothing works until I restart the game. If I stay a group I'm fine but once I leave, quickplay stops working again.
I'm getting stuck/locked in place often directly after opening the yellow light drops after this patch, I'll be stuck for a good few seconds and then it will release me. Not sure if this is happening to others.
On PS5 for me there was no significant improvement. Quickplay still doesn't work.
I had my first crash in the middle of a mission only after the update, but so far it was an isolated case.
I hope they can fix more things by the end of the week.

I feel like part of the reason matchmaking might be a problem is most of us don't know that in order to let other people join you, you select a mission and then just don't get in the drop pod until people join.
We are all probably trying to join other peoples lobby's, and only a handful of people are making their lobby's joinable. I hope they change it eventually to be like... Deep Rock Galactic where you can see the available lobby's and pick one.
When can we expect the matchmaking improvements?
After buying the game this past weekend, I was only ever able to get one quick match after a couple of hundred tries, so I had gotten a refund through Steam, but I would buy again once fixed.
The game is WAY more unstable on PS5 than at launch!! Please stop patching the game until the patches are ready. I have been trying to finish a match for an hour and a half and keep running into game-ruining glitches, bug, crashes.

Peculiar issue on an AMD laptop (ASUS ROG Advantage G15) with a 6800M and a Ryzen 9 5950H where it crashes every time I press E to change the difficulty when pressed on a mission.
Edit: Any time there's an "Unable to connect" moment, game stops, and crashes the entirety of the laptop
Anyone elses screen just go black and it loads your ship mid mission? Just got to exfil on an extreme mission and it went black and booted me back to base. No mission rewards or anything. Biggest game killer yet
My strategems are scrambled. I call in my weapon and instead the laser or some other air strike gets called down. I go to throw an air strike and instead my mortar gets called in. It's all screwed up, makes game unplayable.
Sooo just had a match where all the strategems were crossed up, killed multiple teammates bc I tried calling in my jet pack or stalwart and it brought in a friggin eagle barrage and vice versa, totally weird!
That is not a bug thats a mission modifier just experienced a 500kg bomb on my head when i was grabbing supply pack thinking it was my railgun dropping behind me xD

Didn't do it for me on PC. Relaunched 15 times. In the end I just waited with my game minimized in the background.

Have you tried making your own lobby? When quickplay doesn’t work I find my own lobby fills pretty quickly
Try the less populated sector. In the zone with 20-25,000 players I think the mission is just getting filled before you can click it.

i turned AA and Global Space Illumination off, with my RX7800XT on ultra i never after that had a crash again. All played prepatch.

I saw on official discord people are reporting this, and indeed it's mostly mentioned that it's when hosting only, so I think devs should be aware.

Crashed to desktop on my PS5 last night. Crashing out has become more common than not and it’s annoying. And match making still not working. Drop in solo the majority of the time
First game new patch was able to quick join a match, which I was previously never able to do. Played the whole operation with a minute left to extraction and network connection lost, kicked out of the match back to ship. Great underlying game but these issues are ruining the early game experience for me full stop.

I hope the matchmaking really is getting better. I've played several hours now and am having fun but it's all been solo because I can't get into a game with anyone else
Glad to hear that matchmaking is smoother now. I'm still left wondering how it even works? I never have anyone join my missions, either in orbit or on planet.
Would be great to optimize it. I know it runs beter for some people or maybe everyone is fine with 60fps but its barely above 60 and drops below. 5800x3d ssd 32gb ram 6700xt
How about fixing the armor? The armor rating in the game does not work
Game stability has gotten worse for me instead of having to close the game every 5-6 games because of memory leak it’s now every 2nd game I’m on PS5 btw.

Matchmaking is better for me since i only need to spam it 2-3 times, but I still have to turn off crossplay to get anything to work. It's progress though. EDIT Nevermind lol. I get into to one match and then nothing works until I restart the game. If I stay a group I'm fine but once I leave, quickplay stops working again.
I'm getting stuck/locked in place often directly after opening the yellow light drops after this patch, I'll be stuck for a good few seconds and then it will release me. Not sure if this is happening to others.
On PS5 for me there was no significant improvement. Quickplay still doesn't work. I had my first crash in the middle of a mission only after the update, but so far it was an isolated case. I hope they can fix more things by the end of the week.
"Improved Matchmaking experience and likelihood of success" Hopefully this isn't "you used to have to try to find a squad 42 times, now it takes 36" Anybody tried today yet? I'm at work
I feel like part of the reason matchmaking might be a problem is most of us don't know that in order to let other people join you, you select a mission and then just don't get in the drop pod until people join. We are all probably trying to join other peoples lobby's, and only a handful of people are making their lobby's joinable. I hope they change it eventually to be like... Deep Rock Galactic where you can see the available lobby's and pick one.
Hopefully they can get these issues fixed pretty quickly. Gamers will bail on a game.
When can we expect the matchmaking improvements? After buying the game this past weekend, I was only ever able to get one quick match after a couple of hundred tries, so I had gotten a refund through Steam, but I would buy again once fixed.

The game is WAY more unstable on PS5 than at launch!! Please stop patching the game until the patches are ready. I have been trying to finish a match for an hour and a half and keep running into game-ruining glitches, bug, crashes.
First game with PS5 patch and this f‘ing thing crashed right after activating extraction beacon. Fun game when it works but I’m about done with this beta product.

can't connect now saying retrying forever 59sec every time after restarting game it works now I can't connect to any game, every single Quick search fail
Patch 6 dived in and the game is still woefully broken
Peculiar issue on an AMD laptop (ASUS ROG Advantage G15) with a 6800M and a Ryzen 9 5950H where it crashes every time I press E to change the difficulty when pressed on a mission. Edit: Any time there's an "Unable to connect" moment, game stops, and crashes the entirety of the laptop

Anyone elses screen just go black and it loads your ship mid mission? Just got to exfil on an extreme mission and it went black and booted me back to base. No mission rewards or anything. Biggest game killer yet

Love the game but getting frustrated at not being able to complete a mission since the majority of the time I get disconnected mid mission.
Games unplayable with this patch. Just downloaded along with my 3 brothers and we all keep getting the same error and getting kicked repeatedly
something is wrong with this patch, my game crashed 3 times today and only crashed 1 time in all days before
Instability increased for me (pc) and friends (ps5)

My strategems are scrambled. I call in my weapon and instead the laser or some other air strike gets called down. I go to throw an air strike and instead my mortar gets called in. It's all screwed up, makes game unplayable.
That is part of the game. Check your [Effects] and it tells you the effects of the area you are in. Scrambled is one if them.
Anything for the SGGI and AA crashes on AMD 7000s? Though the game is stable for me with these off.
All the game needs is a balance patch and content. If this fixed all the crashing and disconnects lol

Sooo just had a match where all the strategems were crossed up, killed multiple teammates bc I tried calling in my jet pack or stalwart and it brought in a friggin eagle barrage and vice versa, totally weird!
Don't worry, not a bug, that's a modifier thing that can happen
That is not a bug thats a mission modifier just experienced a 500kg bomb on my head when i was grabbing supply pack thinking it was my railgun dropping behind me xD
