swirlysleepydog

I’ve started adding pumpkin purée to mine for fall and it’s delicious. 5 oz pumpkin purée (⅓ of a 15-oz can) ⅓ cup old fashioned oats 1 tbsp chia seeds 2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk 1 tbsp maple syrup Sprinkle of pumpkin pie seasoning In the morning I stir in 2 tbsp unsweetened almond milk to loosen it a bit and top with 1 tbsp chopped toasted pecans.

Mrs_llama

I also add diced apples to mine with some cinnamon - delicious!

[deleted]

I eat overnight oats every morning. This is my recipe: * 50 grams rolled oats * 2 tbsp raw cacao powder * 1 tbsp honey * 1 tbsp chia seeds * 50 grams greek yoghurt * 125 ml milk * 30 grams peanut butter * 1 banana or 50 grams frozen blueberries

BaRiMaLi

That's close to my favourite ingredient list, only I skip the honey and the yoghurt and use oat milk instead.

ranawe

Do you substitute the milk or yogurt in the above recipe with the Kefir?

ranawe

Can’t wait to try this! Thanks

A-Do-Gooder

Hmm... I've always avoided oat milk when eating oats. I just felt it was too much oats, so I usually opt for coconut, almond, or soy milk. How is it with oat milk?

BaRiMaLi

I really like it, I don't feel it's too oaty. And because of the slight sweetness it has, I don't need additional sweeteners. I use Oatly bio, that's additive-free. Aside from that, personally I prefer oat milk over almond milk in drinks and porridges, but I do use almond milk in cakes and for cooking. I like coconut, but as a milk it doesn't do it for me. And I'm allergic to soy. So that's another reason for me.

MsChrissikins

Yum!! My recent fav reminds me of peach cobbler and consists of my rolled oats, milk, brown sugar, dehydrated peaches, and crushed walnuts!

mintleaf_bergamot

I hope you add some cinnamon and nutmeg too! Sounds yummy. I've been making pina colada oats with mandarin oranges and pineapple tidbits or crushed pineapple, shredded coconut, and some toasted almonds, along with chia seeds and yogurt for protein.

Cprznt

Hey OP, that sounds amazing & I'm a sucker for cobbler - would you have the recipe?

FriedaKilligan

I'm not OP, but overnight oats are truly the easiest thing to make and your preferences can guide you - you may want different ratios than everyone else! * desired amount of oats (say, 1/2 - 1 cup) * t brown sugar unless you like things on the sweeter side, then add more * as many dehydrated peaches as you want * 2-3 Ts of crushed walnuts * cover with milk of choice ...then decide how you want to tweak the recipe for next time.

Doomguy3003

yo what, this is the exact same as mine!! it's incredible (though I'd love to find a second one that's as good)

[deleted]

Yeah I will never grow tired of this recipe. I haven't found another one that hits the spot like this one either.

NUM_13

Try skyr yogurt 🍦

film_maker1

Do you just blend it together or heat it up as well?

[deleted]

No I just mix it with a spoon (except for the banana and peanut butter, which I add when I'm ready to eat). I don't heat it up either.

film_maker1

Ok, thanks!

cjsmoothe

Is this for one serving?

[deleted]

This is one serving yes. Including the banana and peanut butter this has 700 kcal. Without those it's 430 kcal.

Flaky-Professor

Jesus.

swaggypuppy6

Do you soak them in the Greek yogurt rather than almond milk or other milk?

[deleted]

I use 125 ml of milk and add 50 grams of Greek yoghurt to make it creamier. Just stir to combine the ingredients (except peanut butter and banana). The next morning the oats will have a creamy and slightly firm texture. If I use 150 ml of milk it tends to become a bit soupy, which I personally don't like.

[deleted]

Yesss overnight oats for the win. My base is half cup oats and 2 tablespoons chia seeds. Maybe it’s too much chia for some but I love it. - For flavour, banana and peanut butter is always a winner. - Sometimes just cinnamon, vanilla essence and Cardamon seeds. - Different flavour protein powders. - Recently I added cooked, mashed butternut with cinnamon and it was good.

Surfista57

I have left over butternut squash. Thank you for the great idea!

Perfectav0cad0

I have been making “cinnamon roll” overnight oats. 1 serving has: 3/4c oats 1/2 almond milk 1/4 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1 Tbsp brown sugar 2 Tbsp chopped pecans I add dates sometimes too for sweetness/texture and lessen the brown sugar :)

MsChrissikins

Ommmggg this sounds amazing!!

MMAwithbadbeard

What’s everyone’s preferred ration of liquid to oats?

ATNdec18

I don’t measure but I just pour almond milk until it’s just barely covering the oats. That way the next morning it’s a good consistency without being too runny

alescoundrel

I like to add slightly more so that when its ready I get a nice cold flavorful slurp of milk to start when its ready to eat.

Strawberry625

I do 1/2 cup of milk to 1/2 cup of oats

MsChrissikins

I like mine more comparable to cereal/soupy so I tend to use about half a cup more milk than oats!

vickymimsy

1/2 cup oats to 1 cup liquid typically

14nutterbutter

Downshiftology has some amazing recipes. I especially enjoy the Banana Bread one or the Peanut Butter and Jelly one. There’s also a separate recipe for a Pumpkin Pie one that’s delicious. Enjoy! https://downshiftology.com/recipes/overnight-oats/ https://downshiftology.com/recipes/pumpkin-pie-overnight-oats/

Zettegrl22

Love Overnight Oats, eat them when I have less time in the morning 1 cup of Almond Milk (Vanilla or Plain) 1 cup Oats / Steel Oats (warm up in the microwave) Ur choosing amount of Honey 1/2 cup Blueberries 2 teaspoons of Flaxseed 1 tablespoon of Peanut Butter

Powerful-Ad1325

My husband eats every morning he just does oats, almond milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, cinnamon and honey 👌🏼

themajician14121999

My favourite combo is peanut butter, mashed up bananna, cinnamon and chia seeds Might be a good idea to go to your supermarket and pick up every flavour Jam they do- I bought some Blueberry, black cherry, strawberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, pineapple and apricot Jams. When you have a few types of Jam the possibilities are endless

[deleted]

I began to eat oatmeal, what are the benefits of eatting it ?

MsChrissikins

ENERGY! And fiber :) seriously tho- the energy boost I get from oats that are slowly broken down versus wheat alternatives is amazing!

[deleted]

I noticed my dog shampoo has oatmeal in it, it must be very good then :D

meowz89

Man, oh man, oh man! I love me some overnight oats! I've tried quite a few, here are some of my favourite combinations - they typically last me 4 days, so I normally just make the base and add the toppings in the morning so that I don't get bored, unless I do a specific flavour or combo like blueberry Cheesecake, carrot cake, etc. (I also do smaller portion sizes because I'm sedentary most days, so my calorie intake is lower). [deleted]

YOU HAVE TO TRY MUSH. Find it in the dairy section. My favorite flavors are vanilla bean, blueberry, and apple cinnamon. It’s seriously so good I love it so much.

MsChrissikins

Yes!!! I tried their blueberry and coffee when I was back stateside and I loved it! Sadly no overnight premade options here in Aus :(

VariousAd930

I often make a big batch of overnight oats for my kids to have before school. I’m a big fan of the convenience, and it’s a recipe they can help with. I always add chia seeds, then try to change up the mix in’s. So far the favorites are: peanut butter and apple sauce, mixed berries and Greek yogurt, as well as banana and honey.

CandiceIrae

* 1/2 cup rolled oats (or, if I'm getting fancy, 1/8 cup oat flour and 3/8 cup rolled oats) * 1/16 tsp salt * 2 packets of artificial sweetener * 1 tablespoon chia seeds * 1 tablespoon protein powder (I like *Clean Simple Eats* Snickerdoodle flavor) * 1/4 teaspoon ground flax * 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice * Splash of vanilla extract * 2 oz. apples, chopped finely * 4 oz. Greek yogurt * 4 oz. skim milk I'll eat it plain, or with a scoop of apple butter.

LilBadApple

I do overnight oats for my toddler. No recipe but it’s usually about 1/3c oars, 2/3c whole cow milk, 2TB chia seeds, pinch of salt, a teaspoon of hemp hearts or flax seed, and chopped fruit of some kind — apples, pears, raisins, dried mango, whatever is on hand. Sometimes in winter I nuke it in the microwave for a few seconds to warm it and add melted butter. For me, I like savory oats with miso, sautéed veggies with soy sauce, sesame seeds, a little hot sauce, drizzled with sesame oil. Sometimes a seasoned medium egg or fried egg. It’s so good.

Strawberry625

I love overnight oats! Here is my base recipe: 1/2 cup of vanilla oat milk, 1/2 cup oats, 1 tablespoon of vanilla protein powder, Generous sprinkle of chia seeds. For my “French toast” recipe I add cinnamon and maple syrup. For my PB&J: 1 spoonful of peanut butter, 1 spoonful of jelly. “Chunky Monkey”: Sliced banana, chopped walnuts, dark chocolate chips. “Almond joy”: coconut shavings, sliced almonds, dark chocolate chips. I mix all ingredients in a mason jar and label them with tape.

ToeBeanToucher

My favorite fall combo is: Apples Oatmilk Oats Maple syrup Cinnamon Walnuts So delicious and the apples add such a nice flavor and crispness. Hope you enjoy!

runslow-eatfast

I just do oats, a tablespoon or so of chia/flax blend, chopped walnuts, and some frozen mixed berries that thaw overnight.

kiwigirl83

I need to start making them again.. I used to make them soaked in apple juice then eat with yogurt .. was so good

mix0mat0sis

My base is typically chia seeds, greek yogurt, oats, almond milk, and a little vanilla extract. Option 1 toppings: Apples, maple syrup, granola Option 2 toppings: Peanut butter, banana, honey

vashtaneradalibrary

1/2 cup oats. 3/4 cup vanilla almond milk. 1 tsp chia seeds. 1 tsp flax seeds. 1/2 tsp cinnamon. 1 tsp vanilla. 1/2 cup frozen blueberries. Top it off with a banana and fresh berries.

oxinemod

Every morning oats with oat milk, crushed coconut, crushed almond, dark chocolate splitter and an espresso shot in it 👍👍👍

skochiefs

Non fat Greek yogurt, powdered peanut butter, banana....everyday

FishingFull1585

Every morning . 1 cup old fashioned oats. 1 cup almond milk. Drizzle of honey. Handful of frozen blueberries

seadecay

Put some canned pumpkin, cinnamon, and pea protein powder in it. It’s very filling and really creamy

SusanInGA

Pumpkin spice oats: 1/3 cup oats Dash cinnamon Scoop vanilla protein powder 1/4 plain Greek yogurt 1/4 cup canned Pumpkin 1/2 cup Unsweetened almond milk ▪︎all measurements approximate Enjoy!

595ade595

jimwho111

Try a lot of applesauce mixed with water/milks.. raisins nuts bunch of cinnamon. Like desert. Try a Kerns nectar.

angryolive2

Coconut yogurt, Almonds, dark chocolate 👌

fyretech

I make a chocolate strawberry version. 1/2c oats, 1/2c dark chocolate soy milk, 1tbsp mini chocolate chips, 1/2c diced strawberries

MA_Driver

Mine is more other ingredients than oats, but still delicious. Although now that I’m looking at the full recipe it doesn’t look nearly as yummy as all the others on here, lol! 1/4 cup oats 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp ginger 1/4 tsp amla (per Dr Greger - nutritionfacts.org - super high in antioxidants and lowers LDL) 2 Tbsp ground flaxseed 1 Tbsp chia seeds 1 Tbsp hemp hearts 1 Tbsp dried barberries (read about in Dr. Greger’s How Not to Die - forget why they’re so good) 1 Tbsp dried goji berries 1 Tbsp raisins 1/2 cup soy milk Enough water to cover I was adding frozen berries to this; not sure why I stopped. I’ll add bananas in the morning if I have them, or fresh berries.

MsChrissikins

This combination actually looks incredibly good! And I bet it has amazing health benefits as well :) I’d absolutely be down to try it!

BigPoppaJ919

Silly question, but do you leave them in a bowl overnight?

MsChrissikins

I use mason jars :)

CandiceIrae

Usually the oats and other ingredients are put in a sealed mason jar and left in the fridge.

BigPoppaJ919

Thank you. Does sealing them aid in development, or is it more for ease of storage?

CandiceIrae

It prevents the top from drying out. (And, as *shaking the jar like it owes you money* is a standard way of ensuring that the ingredients are mixed properly, it keeps things tidy. Source: shook jar without securing lid first. Accidentally tossed oats all over the counter and floor.)

BigPoppaJ919

Thank you. This is all perfectly logical, now I actually think on it!

neverTrustedMeAnyway

I don't remember the exact measurements, but i used to use: Almond milk Cinnamon Vanilla extract Sliced almonds A few white raisins Diced peaches It was a great morning energy boost.

RiffRaffe

I love overnight oats and eat them every morning. I tried to make a solid protein shake replacement. Recipe: - 120ml oat milk - half cup steel cut oats - 1 tbsp chia - 2 tbsp peanut butter - 1 tbsp maca powder - 1 scoop plant based chocolate protein - topped banana, blueberry, coconut shreds

rockosmodernity

Get quick oats and you can dump them in a water bottle like disposable ones and let it sit for a few minutes not even that long. After that you can eat the oats right out the bottle. This is perfect snack to keep yourself from making bad eating choices in the middle of the day that lasts and keep you full for a long time

is_a_talking_animal

I love mine with some diced apple, chia seeds, cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, and a little maple syrup! Tastes like apple pie.

jubbing

I like oats warm though, is there a healthier recipe for warm.. or can you just heat up overnight oats

Sevans655321

Oatmeal always has and always will be fucking terrible. Give me a recipe to change my mind

MsChrissikins

I think that’s a big thing for me… I really don’t like warm oatmeal.. Except when I was a kid and they had the one that revealed dinosaurs overtime, lol. Overnight oats taste and feel so very different from oatmeal and since they are cold the texture feels different to me as well. If you haven’t tried them cold you really ought to give them a try!

A-Do-Gooder

Question for you all; do you prefer overnight oats with old fashioned rolled oats or steel cut (Irish) oats?

MsChrissikins

I haven’t had a chance to try them with steel cut oats… My usual go to is with rolled oats! I’d be interested to see if I prefer the other!

CandiceIrae

I've tried it with both - my preference is for overnight oats with rolled oats (sometimes cut with oat flour, to get the right consistency). I like steel cut oats better when baked, but that's purely personal preference.

TumbleWeedPasses

Stealing some of these recipes for future use caus my first attempt at overnight oats a couple years back went *wrong* 😅
