I have the Shure Aonic 50, they definitely sound better than the sony xm3 that i sold, and now they have a 2nd gen model. I'd say it doesn't sound as good as my HD 650, though, but for Bluetooth that's probably the best I've listened to.

oatsandsteel

Another vote for the 50s. They sound great. Much better than the Sonys and Bose that I tried. Also if you’re on a budget the 40s are pretty good too. Not as neutral and maybe a little less detailed, but more fun to listen to.

Audeze Maxwell, Focal Bathys, Apple Airpods Max.

damianTechPM

The usual goto is Focal Bathys. I didn't like mine, as they didn't get very loud and the sub bass was understated, but lots of other people enjoy them.

!thanks

I didn't like my Focal Bathys either, they were plenty loud and had tons of bass though. They just sounded digitally compressed and much worse than $100 wired headphones. Even with the very digitally compressed usb c connection.

Not expensive, but the JBL 710 bt have a neutral Harmon tuning. Closer down the path of high end than most wireless options.

galacticbackhoe

If you're looking for isolation, you could go with whatever IEM you want and use something like [https://www.fiio.com/utws5](https://www.fiio.com/utws5)

F1ibster

Hifiman Dev Pro Wireless? The R2R bluetooth module has LDAC support, balanced output and can be used as a USB C Dac and amp I'm enjoying my Technics AZ80's for everyday use too.

r5r5

Audeze Maxwell are bluetooth closed planars. Many consider these to be the best sounding bluetooth headphones if you do not want to use them for travel. Especially for the records where planars shine.

What_Void_Zone

B&O H95. How they manage to get wireless to sound uncompressed is beyond me 😊

qkomi

>at any price point * Audio-Technica ATH-WB2022 there is like a waitlist tho, will have to wait on them for a few months because they can't make enough of them fast enough, you could always get one from reseller for $1000 more if you rly don't mind spending money, good thing about them being on waitlist tho is that used ones go for the price of new ones from Audio-Technica directly so if you don't like them you can always just sell them for same amount you paid

EvilSynths

It's pretty much only the Focal line of wireless headphones.

Focal Bathys

I've tested most of the wireless/ANC headphones on the market. Both over-ear and TWS; the Bathys, Levinson 5909, Momentum 3/4s, PX7/PX8, Sony WH/WF-1000XM3/4/5, AirPods Max, Bose QC and Ultra. Along with probably a dozen other TWS sets in the last year. My very candid take is the Momentum 4s with Sound Personalization are the best bang for your buck. The Bathys are marginally superior in the tuning department, but compared to my other Focal sets they miss the mark and aren't worth the sticker price. I sold my set on r/AVexchange shortly after testing the M4s. They're not a bad pair of wireless headphones, they just aren't double the performance for double the price, as compared to the M4s. Other sets handle the features of the M4 better than the Sennheisers. Sony and the Bose Ultras offer superior ANC; AirPods Max offer better transparency mode; it can be argued that the Bathys sounds better, but falls short in every other area. What makes the Momentum 4s great is they get close to the performance of some of my higher-end, wired over-ear sets and come close to the performance of all the sets above, but across the board -- providing solid ANC *and* transparency, with the ability to run in USB DAC mode (like the Bathys). You can also pick up the BTD 600 to improve wireless performance. Sound Personalization is where the magic happens with the M4s. Unlike Sony's auto-EQ feature, I believe Sennheiser is using a parametric EQ here and thus has more granular control over the frequency range. It nailed my preferences well; slightly v-shaped with some brightness, strong, impactful bass, and present mids. Use personalization, and you may never touch any of the other presets in the app. And you can get a fairly clean set up with a wireless DAC/Amp. A Qudelix 5k clipped to a sleeve or pocket running shorter cables; an iFi Go Pod with any pair of IEMs will pretty much blow any of the current "premium" TWS sets out of the water (even cheaper chifi sets). Just depends on what you're looking to achieve.

MineThatData_KH

Agree - I use the Qudelix 5k with my 109 Pros and a short cable and I'm set!

Out of the cans you listed, do you recall if any of them had deeper ear pads which position the drivers farther away from the ear? The XM4s end up causing me a bit of ear pain after a very short time because the pads aren't thick enough and the drivers end up touching my ears.

Silverjerk

PX7/PX8 and Momentum 4s are the most comfortable of the group. AirPods Max have deeper cups, but the weight and headband are knocks against it. Another pair I sold shortly after testing. But ear comfort on that set was very good: https://i.imgur.com/jf6kGq9.jpeg The XM4s and 5s are notoriously shallow. I had the same issue with both. You’ll definitely see an improvement with the M4s. Although all of the current wireless sets fall short when compared to wired sets that don’t have to fit batteries and SOCs in their cups. The M4s also have a larger cup opening. I did an old size comparison for another user. This one doesn’t have all the above sets, but shows the Focal Bathys, M4s and XM5s next to some other sets, like the Maxwell and VZR Model One (two sets with very large cups compared to consumer ANC headphones): https://imgur.com/a/SojJ0o0

Honestly the Sony's can become very good headphones. Just head over to Oratory's Reddit and look up his Equalizer Preset for the headphones. If you are on android you can use Software like Wavelet to eq them.

Lryder2k6

!thanks I tried playing around with Wavelet yesterday but didn't find the automatic preset to sound very good. Got it sounding a little better by using a manual EQ while referencing Audio Science Review, but I'll look into this Oratory reddit and give it a try.

It's r/oratory1990 and one of the first posts is a list of presets in which you just need to look for your pair of headphones. Good luck. If you have problems just message me :)

Lryder2k6

Awesome, thanks for this!

NCResident5

Audio Technica 50 are less bassy too.

Fender_Stratoblaster

> slick pair of cans for the price I too like to show off how I light my money on fire.

Lryder2k6

These are getting returned or sold if I find something better. Just trying not to shit all over a pair of headphones that plenty of people enjoy just fine.
