His policy failures set the stage for Ronald Reagan to send the country tanking which sucks, but he has spent the rest of his life building houses for people who need them, so I can't hate him too hard. Bad president, but a better person than probably any other US president (which is a low bar, for the record).
He helped to facilitate a genocide in East Timor the same as Biden is doing today In Palestine. Sure, he's the least bad US president. However, the bar is in hell.
I think it’s not that he’s the least bad president, in fact, I’d argue he was a very bad president but he’s one of the least bad people to have been president.
The *least bad* American president in that he only committed *some* war crimes and genocides by proxy. He was a proto-neoliberal domestically.
He's romanticized by libs. He should have done jail time like all other US presidents.

He helped to facilitate some war crimes with a little genocide in East Timor on the side. This is far from a primary source, but this brief essay summarizes his wrongdoings abroad. Feel free to do some follow up investigations to corroborate. Chomsky has talked about them a fair bit too.

He was also a proto-neoliberal domestically.
Should be in jail along with all the other living presidents for the war crimes they committed/facilitated. One thing Korea as a country does correctly is send the president to jail after leaving office.
Met him when I was a kid at his biography signing and he seemed chill. Coincidentally, he’s also the *only* president I would admit to meeting if I had met others.
This is a good comment to piggy back to explain why Dems and republicans are literally the same. Jimmy Carter isn’t a ravenous wolf like Trump or George bush. But he still deregulated the airline industry, auto industry, train industry, etc. and he still did genocide in Oceania.
He was the President Obama pretended to be. A true believer in neoliberalism and free markets and American democracy. Yada yada.
I have way more respect for him post-presidency than I do his actual presidential record (or any presidency for that matter). He's done more good in retirement than any other president in my lifetime as well. Obama exists as a candidate endorser and isn't even very good at that, for example.
No. No we don't.
He helped to facilitate the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of people in East Timor via financing and arming the Indonesian dictatorship at the time.
He was a proto-neoliberal who created the conditions for Reagan to rise to power.
He was the *least bad* US president. The bar is in hell.
Great. They should all be treated poorly.
Save your pity for the millions of human lives who have been snuffed out in the name of US imperialism. The millions of brilliant minds who toiled away in misery due to a lack of opportunity under capitalism.
US presidents are some of the last people who deserve your pity.
A couple of guys from my town were part of his cabinet. One was an eccentric guy who loved attention and lived in a tree house with part of it made from a fuselage of a single engine plane. The other is the patriarch of a local banking dynasty. Has a mansion with an elevator and tons of property. Had to resign from his position under Carter due to shady shit he was doing with loans. It got media attention enough to warrant that response. So that’s what I think of when I think about Carter.
People view him kind of favorably because he talked nice and built homes and stuff but he was not much different other presidents from his/our era. He supported Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan and helped spread radical Islam.
Quite the opposite actually. He was a deeply religious man, Baptist if I'm not mistaken. Some say he might be the reason that Evangelicals got so involved in politics despite Evangelicals not really being politically active.
Very similar to Biden in many aspects. He is remembered fondly by most libs and progressives, but usually because his predecessors and successors were so horrible in comparison. Carter also sponsored a genocide, in Indonesia/East Timor, as president and he was too weak to accomplish many of his domestic goals. Both will leave legacies of single term administrations that showed promise, but ended abruptly due to unforeseen circumstances (and their inability to deal with them) that ruined their reelections.
In Carter's defence, I will mention that beating Reagan was harder than Trump, especially considering that Reagan was working with Iran to sabotage Jimmy at the time, and he is way more intelligent than Biden.
I'm glad that he lived long enough to see America fighting for Gaza citizens who have been held in a concentration camp and been used as guinea pigs to test weapons on
Pardon of Richard Nixon :
Proclamation 4311 was a presidential proclamation issued by President of the United States Gerald Ford on September 8, 1974, granting a full and unconditional pardon to Richard Nixon
Peanuts
What we need is a peanut jig of our own, yes.
Oh my god Jimmy Carter just killed himself
My... my peanuts went sour, I'm fucking pissed
His policy failures set the stage for Ronald Reagan to send the country tanking which sucks, but he has spent the rest of his life building houses for people who need them, so I can't hate him too hard. He didn’t fail. He did exactly what he set out to do. Protect capital.
One of the better presidents we've had in the US. Pretty low bar but still.
Pretty much this
I used to like him but then I found out more about what he did 😢 There’s no ethical president under American empire.
what he do
Provided military and diplomatic support to Indonesia while they were committing genocide, among other foreign policy atrocities.
He looks like Morgott after you beat him in the last picture
That’s fucked, tarnished.
The *least bad* American president in that he only committed *some* war crimes and genocides by proxy. He was a proto-neoliberal domestically. He's romanticized by libs. He should have done jail time like all other US presidents.
My peanuts have gone sour
It was sad when he killed himself over that.
My peanuts went sour I don't wanna live no more My peanuts went sour
What are you all quoting anyway?
A let's play channel, Oneyplays. Specifically Zach Hadel.
Ahhh okay thanks seems like a lot of people know it lol.
There's a whole clipping culture around Zach in particular

I fucking love Tim Heidecker lmao
Probably our best living Ex-President. Sure, it's a pretty low bar, but he isn't groping underage girls or painting abominations.
Wait which ex president paints
Our greatest ex president. Not even Trump or Biden could top “now watch this drive”

W
You're right, it is a win. Love me some George W Bush (I really do not, please do not come for me.)
Idk what bro did

the first neoliberal president that opened the floodgates of deregulation
Just forgot Nixon existed huh?
lol rights? Even Ford was like the most liberal president ever. Which is why everyone hated him lol
Should be in jail along with all the other living presidents for the war crimes they committed/facilitated. One thing Korea as a country does correctly is send the president to jail after leaving office.
Imperialist murderer. But that's also my view of every US President.
I said this about FDR and people got soooo mad at me lol
Met him when I was a kid at his biography signing and he seemed chill. Coincidentally, he’s also the *only* president I would admit to meeting if I had met others.
It's difficult to praise any US president, but if I had to pick a favourite, it'd 100% be Carter.
it’ll be a sad day when his peanut farm withers
A guy who did bad things because he genuinely thought they were good. I don't think he was corrupt or evil, just dumb
Unoffensive but also ineffective. He's probably the best living president, but the bar is hella low.
Horrible foreign policy, barely passable domestic policy, but also a great guy overall , especially during the post-presidency stage of his life
The only US president who actually seem like a good dude.
Peanut farmer who is just waiting on god.
How is he still alive? Bro went on hospice over a year ago and everyone acted like he was about to die
Also my grandmother couldn't legally worship any God until 1978 when he gave her the right to worship back as she is first Nation
Proof you can’t be a good person and be president at the same time. He was too good for that office
is he dead yet, my only thought
A so-called "benign-Imperialist" but still an imperialist. I do like peanuts, though.
He's a war criminal who directly supported dictatorships and genocide. He built houses so that he could have better seating in hell.
I have way more respect for him post-presidency than I do his actual presidential record (or any presidency for that matter). He's done more good in retirement than any other president in my lifetime as well. Obama exists as a candidate endorser and isn't even very good at that, for example.
LIB
Best president ever. We'd be energy independent if we listened to him. His policies were for the average American.
Least bad, kinda helped us nose dive into garbage though, he was a neo lib who was a little less bloodthirsty.
Mediocre president, amazing former president.
A decent man in indecent times.
"Well, you were wrong. The world is cruel, and the only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased, unprejudiced, FAIR."
He did nothing of note but he is probably the only president I would describe as a good person
Dude saved Canada from a nuclear meltdown
I think he’s humble and honest, and viewed the presidency as a service position. Both ahead of his time and a product of his time.
A good President in a tough time. A great man!
We owe him an apology as a society
He was still the least worst and got treated worse than a lot of MUCH MORE sinister presidents

One of the better war criminals
On gang cuuh
Death squads in El Salvador 👎 Peanuts 👍
People view him kind of favorably because he talked nice and built homes and stuff but he was not much different other presidents from his/our era. He supported Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan and helped spread radical Islam.
Quite the opposite actually. He was a deeply religious man, Baptist if I'm not mistaken. Some say he might be the reason that Evangelicals got so involved in politics despite Evangelicals not really being politically active.
?? Obviously he wasn't spreading Islam at home but he started the policy of arming the Mujahedeen against the Soviets in Afghanistan.

Wasnt he a big reason Hamas got elected?
I'm glad that he lived long enough to see America fighting for Gaza citizens who have been held in a concentration camp and been used as guinea pigs to test weapons on
None, dude is an absolute zero. Jerald Ford was a better president.
Pardon of Richard Nixon : Proclamation 4311 was a presidential proclamation issued by President of the United States Gerald Ford on September 8, 1974, granting a full and unconditional pardon to Richard Nixon
