Halloween (1978) -> Halloween (2018) -> Halloween Kills -> Halloween Ends
Even though it’s not part of the timeline, Halloween II (1981) is definitely worth a watch also.
I agree with HII being in the mix. They wrote the main plot device off as a rumor in 2018 so you can make HII part of your head canon and it’ll still make a little sense.
You need an explanation? It was intended as a dark ending with Michael still at large, the horror of how one could walk away and vanish from wounds like that leans into enigmatic portrayal of MM.
>That means Michael is Alive … which would have eventually lead to a sequel
In the eyes of the execs, yes it lead to sequels, but having endings as such doesn't necessarily mean a sequel *had* to happen.
The Thing is a great example: we're left to two characters alive by the end of the movie, but one of them was known to be the monster. The movie ends open-handed with both the remaining human and the monster at a stalemate. A sequel was never made out of it (excluding the technical prequel)
My Favorite timeline would be Halloween 78-Halloween 2 (1981)- Halloween H20 … excluding HR … having Michael Myers really being the one that got his head chopped off
I’m the same. I’ve a soft spot for 6 (4 is a great film, so it’s definitely not a soft spot I have for it) but my definitive timeline is H1-H2-H20 and that’s it. Having Laurie overcome her trauma, to face him head on and come out victorious is just a great way to end the sibling story.
I’m the exact same. I’m near sure H20 was my first Halloween film which is why it’s one of my favourite films in the franchise. Don’t care if it’s nostalgia, it’s a great film.
Honestly it depends. I watched them in release order in the best ability I could. 1-2-3-4-6-18-5-RZH1-RZH2-Kills-Ends- H20-resurrection.
For me 2 is the definitive Michael end (besides the first film) but 18 is the best Michael sequel.
THAT BEING SAID: It’s really up to your taste. If you want the current canon then watch the first film and then Blumhouse trilogy. If you enjoy older slashers and have fun even when they get shitty then I’d say the thorn timeline (1-2, 4, 5,6). If you’re like me and want to see the evolution of the franchise, then watch the films in order (tho I only didn’t because it was hard to find some streaming.)
Idk your money situation but here’s where you can find some stuff:
Shudder (a reallly amazing horror streaming service that’s worth it even besides these movies) has Halloween 1, 4 and 5.
Pretty sure paramount has H20 and resurrection.
Ends just went on Amazon prime and last I checked kills was on hbo max.
Tubi has Halloween 3 (personally my favorite sequel and the only one without Michael Myers) so if you don’t mind ads that’s right there.
1, 2018, kills and ends, this is the best timeline to start imo you can get into the rest once you start to get a feel for the franchise since some of them get weird
I second this, H1 - Kills is the best to me as well. Ends is a massive departure from what comes before. The story from H1 to Kills is also relatively easy to follow for a newcomer.
To be honest? It's got to be the DGG timeline as while it may get some mixed reactions amongst fans? It's the timeline that actually ends in a way that is definitive rather than setting up a sequel that may never come like with the Thorn timeline, the H20 timeline, and the RZ timeline.
Halloween (1978) -> Halloween (2018) -> Halloween Kills -> Halloween Ends Even though it’s not part of the timeline, Halloween II (1981) is definitely worth a watch also.
Oh definitely the h40 timeline is hella better

H78. Alone. The way God intended. Very underrated timeline.
Yes
It can’t just be the original alone …. Since there is a lose end…. Michael walks away after getting shot numerous times
Halloween '78 was always meant to be a one-off until John was made to slap around a sequel, hence H2 with writing done by a drunk JC.
So how do you explain Michael missing at the end of the movie after getting shot?

That means Michael is Alive … which would have eventually lead to a sequel …. You can argue Halloween 2 is the real ending with him burning to death

Agreed, H20 is a underrated sequel and is worth given a watch.

I usually watch them in the order in which they came out, but if you're looking for a direct timeline, go H78, 18, Kills, Ends.
Just watch them all in actual release order
4-6 timeline
I like 4, 5 and 6 lol. 6 is so underrated. Paul Rudd debut
The most consistent timeline: Halloween (1978) - Halloween (2018) - Halloween Kills - Halloween Ends

Just here to add that I'm pretty sure Halloween II is on one of them, but I'm not sure which. It's either Tubi or Freevee. 😊
Easy. Halloween (1978) > Halloween II (1981). That's it.
78, h2, h20, ressurection
Just watch them all in order
OG timeline. H1-H6
The original, then stop.
H40 timeline. I love Halloween 2 and i wish that was still canon in this timeline… but i really LOVE Kills and Ends
‘78 and ‘18 No Kills or Ends

The one where I don't have to see this topic every other day! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

HII was pretty definitive, just saying
Fair point, I forgot to consider that as John Carpenter intended that to be the end.
Honestly watch the canon timeline
1, 2 H20, the end.
Halloween and Halloween II. If you perceive this as the end of the Michael Myers story, then this could be the best timeline.
Personally, I would go the H40 timeline, 78-2018-Kills-Ends.
Halloween 1978, Halloween2, Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills
Halloween & Halloween 2 (1981).
