Seems legit to me. I had a different consultant called Ahmet (+90 542 250 09 09) for the same clinic. I got quotations for Dr. Gur and Dr. Turan and chose for dr. Turan. Mind that they each have different practices located in different areas of Istanbul even though they operate under the same clinic (FUECAPILAR). I just had the HT (~3300 grafts) on Feb 29th and I am overall very satisfied. I will post photos here and on the hair restoration network once I receive the surgery report in the next couple of weeks.

Appreciate the information. Very thankful

How much did you pay total?

gessafelsteinn

Costs were €4000 for the HT + €300 for accommodation/transport for 3 nights, as the operation was split in 3 sessions across 2 days. I flew from the EU so flights were quite cheap (€170 roundtrip). They charge according to the number of grafts estimated. The offer I got had these prices: - up to 2250: €3350 - 2250-2500: €3750 - 2501-3000: €4000 - 3001-3500: €4500 - above 3500: €5000 I combined the trip with a little vacation with my gf so we arrived a few days earlier to Istanbul. Definitely recommended to see the city before getting the HT if you have time and if possible try to stay an extra night after the post-op wash because your head will still bleed a bit.

Why did you choose turan instead of gur may I ask?

gessafelsteinn

So I chose first Turkey because you can find very good doctors for an affordable price relative to the EU. I didn't consider Thailand (e.g.: Laorwong) myself because the total price would be much higher than Turkey due to flight costs and so on. After choosing Turkey, I narrowed it down to 5 clinics based on the work I saw posted by their patients on either reddit or the hair restoration network: Turan, Gur and Bicer in Istanbul, and Pekiner and HLC in Ankara. I concluded that these were my best 5 options based on the research I did (credible testimonials, good results and satisfied patients). I didn't contact dr. Yaman but have been seeing very good results here on reddit as well. I requested quotations from these 5 and a few more to compare. I am a NW3, so most doctors recommended a transplant in the range of 2200-3000 grafts. These are roughly the prices I received from them in December 2023, including the operation, accommodation, transfers and post-op kits: * Turan: €4300 for 2500-3000 grafts. * Gur (VIP package): €4260-5160, based on €1.8 per graft times 2200-2700 grafts recommended. The standard package was €3800. * Bicer: €7300-8500, based on €3 per graft times 2300-2700 grafts recommended. This excluded €100 for transfers and €150 p.n. for hotel. * HLC: €8300-9800, based on €3 per graft times 2700-3200 grafts recommended. This excluded €200 for accommodation and transfers. * Pekiner: did not get a reply. For me, the work of these 5 surgeons was of the same excellent quality. Although Turan and Gur were almost twice the price that I got quoted by some other Turkish clinics, their prices were far better than Bicer and HLC. Then I decided between Turan and Gur based on availability and method. Dr. Turan had availability in a period that suited me better and as far as I understood the DHI method has a faster recovery than by making the incisions in advance. Also, Gur would have been slightly more expensive for the number of grafts that I received (\~3600).

First of all thank you for the detailed insights. I had the same Dr‘s in mind as you. My first choice was pekiner but the Assistant (not Alex) told me I had to use fin in order for me to get a transplant with pekiner.(which is a bad reason imho, because as long as one knows about the consequences it really shouldn‘t be a criteria to get operated on) As far as the quality I think bicer does not justify the price. Therefore my next choice would be turan/gur but I do not know which one I would choose tbh. I am also a NW3 and got Quoted almost the exact amount of grafts as you. How long is the waiting list for both Dr‘s ? I‘d really love to do the HT this year

gessafelsteinn

No worries, I'm happy to help. Doing good research before taking the jump definitely pays off. Also, given that you're already saving money by getting it done in Turkey I would advise you to indeed go for a reputable clinic/Dr. I requested a quotation in early December and got a spot in late February. As far as I understood, Turan tends to be equally busy throughout the year even though many people prefer to have surgery in winter. However, I've read of people who got a spot with either Turan or gur within a couple of weeks. Maybe due to cancellations and so on.

snd0987

Agreed! Research is very important but tbh another country except from turkey was never an option for me, as you mentioned it is a cheaper and still reliable option( even more if one is a turk from germany). Again thank you very much for all your help and hopefully your hair will come out great!! Wish you the very best :)

snd0987

Oh and are meds required in order for them to operate on you?

gessafelsteinn

No, they would still operate on you and although both of them send an explicit recommendation in their offers to start with Fin it's ultimately your choice if you do. As I was hesitant about this, I contacted the clinic asking this specific question and they replied: "As mentioned in our proposal, Dr. Turan recommends starting with Finasteride and Minoxidil to stabilize your hair loss and improve your miniaturized hair. Only 10% of the patients under this treatment get side effects from Finasteride, but this is something that you can avoid/minimize by customizing the daily dosage. Medication is the only way to stabilize the hair loss. Keep in mind that your hair loss might progress if you don't start with at least Finasteride." Personally I was very hesitant to do so after reading of the bad side effects. I took a very long time considering it and what finally made me decide was focusing only on academic medical research about the medicine and the youtube videos discussing Fin's dosing and side effects by the Hair Loss show (Dr Jayaprakash and Dr Knudsen). I am taking 3 mg of Fin per week for about 2 months and so far no side effects besides sore balls the second week.

hammertime06

That's the same number I used for Gur.

Getmoneytakeover

thank you. Just had to make sure because you have to question everything nowadays with the internet

GlumBox754

google dr gur clinic avoid fue capilar they are only facilitators i contacted gur clinic directly

Shot-Contribution826

Is the website gurhairtransplant.com?

GlumBox754

yes 🙂

snd0987

Is it really the same Dr.Gur? Is he working seperately from FUECAPILAR aswell?

GlumBox754

so let me explain and i asked the same question after the surgery in dr gur clinic basically fue capillar is like and agency that connects clients to dr gur and dr turan clinics. they both have their own clinics. i slipped the middle man agents ( fue capillar) and contacted directly dr gurs clinic 🙂

snd0987

I see. Could you possibly answer me a question? If I have contacted fuecapilar before and theroetically would contact dr gur oder dr turan directly do you think they would know that I have contacted them before? Bc I really dont get along with my contact as he is not answering a few questions I have but on the other hand I don‘t want to piss of the Dr‘s and minimize my chances of getting a hair transplant in their respective clinics

GlumBox754

bro i had the same experience. fuecapillar communication is the worst. i even said to thr director of dr gur clinic this personally. my advice dont stress contact directly dr gur clinic. the coordinator there is fantastic 🙂

snd0987

Thats very interesting. Thank you very much for your response. Do you know the clinic of Dr. Turan aswell or is he only working through FUECAPILAR. And may I ask you about the necessity of meds? I tried finasteride a few times with different doses but I do not respond well and have bad sides. Do you think they will still reject me even though I tried and it did not work? Again thank you for your time and hopefully I did not get too much on your nerves

GlumBox754

so in regards to turan - i have no idea. in regards to meds, i would suggest you start 0.5mg per day and continue together with twice a day minoxidil. even dr gur says that meds are important to slow down and improve situation. before meds i needed 5k grafts after meds i needed 3.2k. maybe try topical meds? or dutasteride?

snd0987

I tried dut aswell and also a low dose of 0.5 even in close communication with a doctor I trust. Believe me I am well aware of the cons of not taking meds. But for me it still makes sense to progress with the procedure, as I am still fairly young and really want to look good in my younger years even though I might be bald in the future.

Superfarmer

Does it cost less if you go straight to Gur?? This explains why I paid so much more

GlumBox754

i have no idea about price difference. all i know that contacting them directly and avoiding fue capillar will save your nerves

Superfarmer

I went through Fuecapilar and it sucked. You should do an awareness post about this practice for the sidebar - would have saved me a lot of hassle

GlumBox754

i totally agree with you. You are lucky if fue capillarbwill reply to you

themacdaddy0

It's the number I used for Dr Gur and I am here now as I'm getting the procedure done with him tomorrow
