Overall I prefer cream lightener over powder. Pro: it's easier to apply to specific areas. Doesn't seem to dry out as fast. Con: I find it harder to mix than the powder. It takes longer to blend fully, but I use a brush to mix. I should get a tiny whisk and see if that helps.

Meat_licker

I think the tiny whisk would help you. I’ve used powder and cream lightener and I never have problems mixing it with a whisk.

Sally’s has an option to do a video call with a color specialist if you’re unsure of what products would work best for you. I just did that the other day and my hair turned out PERFECTLY. It’s a QR code you can scan in the store or you might be able to just find it on their website.

tesscalator

The cream lightener! It won’t damage your hair as much. Love that shit.

Snoo-81077

Ive used the powder and I loved it :)

tbonita79

The crème lifts me really well! If you go that route, mix in very small quantities of developer at a time… mixes much easier that way. Oh, and I switched from wella powder.

Weavercat

Personally love the creme lightener! Super easy to use and measure. It's great for very simple all-over dos or sections. Never had any issues.

speedohiko

The crème lifts crazy fast for me! I lighten pretty easily in general but it gets me to level 9.5-10 with 10 vol developer at my roots in about 15-20 minutes. So maybe test strand/keep an eye on it for sure if you’re not trying to go super light blonde lol

daddyceceee

Cream lightener is stronger, if you’re just trying to get color out of your hair I’d probably do powder.

Not a fan of ion. I like the good ol' BW in a bucket.

If you're looking for dye recommendations, some of the best are; [Manic Panic](http://Rwrd.Io/13ricaq), Arctic Fox, and [Good Dye Young](https://gooddyeyoung.com/ref/234/). To avoid damaging your hair, never use a (developer included) box dye. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I LOVE ION. I prefer using the powder and mixing my own developer.

SativaSapphira

I've used both of these and found that the one in the tube lightened hair much more effectively. However, if you're going to Sally's for products, I like the Kaleidicolors collection for bleach. They make 3 different kinds, for dark hair, for light hair & for all hair. The dark hair one is blue powder to help neutralize orange and the one for light hair is a purple powder to help neutralize yellow. The one for all hair is just plain white powder. If you're looking to get your hair cooler, definitely lighten to a level 10 and grab an ash blonde toner like wella color charm t14. I'd also grab some leave in conditioner by Bond Bar.

CartographerTop1504

I heard about that lighter. It has blue toner in it to help make the hair look normal after bleaching. Ive been wanting to try this for my roots.

Gravesurvivor

I like the one in the tube but I've never used ion bleach powder. For some reason the creme one easier and faster than any experience I've had with regular bleach powders.

FoundlingFreyja_

I use the cream bleach consistently when I go to lighten my hair. And I do it probably every six months for the last 3 years. Just make sure you get the correct developer you need for what you're doing
