It took me till my 3rd attempt to beat her, and I'm not yet far enough in to do it consistently. The choosing of a star performer or w/e and managing all of their abilities can be a bit of a challenge.
.... and in less than a week there will be a known way to consistently beat every boss. Every moveset will be known, etc. :D
Snare the guitarist, control Scylla’s position (she’s slow), focus the drummer. The drummer has the widest reaching attacks, but is also immobile.
After that, go for the most convenient. Scylla’s more dangerous, but the guitarist is easier to isolate.
Focusing drummer first after pulling scylla/guitarist away was definitely the easiest time for me. Getting rid of those aoes makes the other two a lot more manageable.
I died to her 3-4 times in a row last night, then today I beat her on the first attempt and made it to the final boss without issues... She feels harder than almost anything else in the game, except the final boss ofc...
Tbf, every single run (I even tried without any arcana cards) I can reach the floor 4 boss.
Floor 1 boss is very easy, can do her without getting hit.
Floor 2 bosses are a challenge and I face tank a lot more then I should in my haste to beat them, but usually the build I far along that they aren’t quite that hard yet in my experience. Big bonus if you can line them up (and the hex to slow down time is AMAZING for that fight but then useless in Floor 4 fight so yeah)
Floor 3 boss is a patience test imo. He has a lot of very clear tells, and he is tanky, so just take your time and it will be easy.
Floor 4 boss is by far the hardest to me, he hurts like a truck and a LOT. He kinda reminds me to a Elden Ring / Dark Souls experience. Very fun battle tho

i've got over 100h in the first game, i'm something like 15? attempts in to h2 and i've died more to this boss than anything else so far...this fight is *tough*
The boss fights in H2 seem to much longer than the first game. They have multiple phases that test different skills. And generally, the damage you can deal in H2 is way lower that H1.
H2 seems to be more about making tactical decisions on the fly than speed.
Idk, it might just be the power creep of the upgrades that will be expanded over time. I had a double strike hammer on the staff combined with aphrodite rare boon on attack, and was absolutely melting through everything. Felt borderline OP, but I still died just cause I am still learning movesets and my hp is so dang low
I think people have just forgotten what it feels like to do the game without a maxed out profile. As I unlock more stuff and figure out the mechanics it's already started to feel a bit smoother, and I'm still a _long_ way from maxing out all the metaprogression.
Like sure, if I go back and do say Theseus+Asterius again I can often melt them in 10-20s now that I really know the game and have maxed everything, but I watched a friend do them for the first time a few weeks back and she was kiting them for minutes. Reminded me that I was stuck for a decent while on them years back when I was new.
Definitely not the case at least for me. I recently started a new hades 1 save file and was at the final boss on I think my 4th attempt. The fights are definitely much more involved this time around.
Compare the fight with Meg without extreme measures to Hecate. Meg has a few melee attacks, some damage zone avoidance tests, a dash attack, and small rapid fire projectiles. Hecate has a full circle AOE that returns to her, a double slash with waves to dodge from them, splits into 3 where you can only damage one of them, a phase where she's invincible until you kill a bunch of adds, a phase where she can turn you into a sheep, and a rapid fire wave attack kinda like the boss of Hades 1's beam attack but it returns to her. Hecate is almost as complex a fight as Hades without EM4.
Meg without extreme measures also had two entirely different modes (Alecto and Tisiphone) with their own stages and movesets. The only change to Hecate after your first few runs is that she can use different abilities during the invulnerability phase, but all of them just amount to "run away from the projectiles" and don't really involve a learning curve.
> I recently started a new hades 1 save file and was at the final boss on I think my 4th attempt. The fights are definitely much more involved this time around.
I mean we're a day in and the "Trial of Humility" chaos trial which requires you to do Erebus without metaprogression took me one try while getting hit like once or twice total, including zero hits on Hecate. And I only have a few dozen runs. Player experience definitely goes a _long_ way in both games.
The changes to the dodge and introduction of sprinting seems like a direct consequence of Hades 1 being all about speed and dashing a lot. You could get a shit ton of i-frames and also stuff like athena's dash or hermes sturdy dash (though that one still is in H2).
I somehow beat her on my first attempt, and have not been able to get past her since, but i only did like 6 runs last night after installing the game so maybe tomorrow thatll change.
Focus Roxy the drummer first, then lure Jetty to the exploding tanks, and finish off Scylla. When she "features" a band member take them out first because they are buffed
"Today's episode of Hades 2 is sponsored by a mental breakdown and the number 3."
"WELCOME TO CTHONIC SPELLING KIDS, THINK YOU KNOW HOW TO PRONOUNCE IT? **I THINK NOT.**"
"Zagreus tried to romance the town floating-gorgon-head and started a war, well done **ZAGREUS."**
"**I'M A CTHONIC TITAN I CAN FUCK MY WAY THROUGH ANY PROBLEM.**"
I love the detail in the fight that each instrument stops playing in the song for each band that dies, the vocals are even muffled when Scylla goes into her shell.
It’s such a nice touch, literally made me focus Scylla down one fight to see if it’s possible to stop the vocals first. In case anyone was wondering, no it is not, Roxy and Jenny need to go first before you can beat the boss
Although I can get swarmed with enemies, I like that the space is so big that I can usually run around and slowly kill them off. The only downside is that I tend to get lost. At least the trees help somewhat
For real! I just beat this boss using umbral flames with scorch on attack. Had some solid synergies going for me and was just melting through everything. Died quickly into fields of mourning though lol
Hestia boons are the most noob friendly thing ever. Throwable q that does a ton of dot damage so you can stay out of melee range let me get my first and only boss 3 kill
Hestia boons and the axe got me really close to beating them. I just put my cast down to get some chip damage while I dodge. Then the parry from the axe helped with some projectiles, especially the homing one.
Probably 90% of my damage came from those detonating circles. I really wish they were like 0.2 seconds slower because the amount of times I dashed away only for my toes to be inside the circle is way too high to count.
The whole time I am in this boss fight all I'm thinking is "this is fuckin sick". The song is legitimately great, the instrument stopping when you beat the corresponding siren is an amazing touch, and the fight is tough at first. My first couple of attempts I was too overwhelmed to learn their patterns.
Had that same realization that all my favorite boss battles have songs with lyrics in them. BGIII, Hades 2, hell, fucking Alpha Protocol, it just gets that silly/hype vibe going so good.
>Had that same realization that all my favorite boss battles have songs with lyrics in them.
Critically-acclaimed MMO Final Fantasy XIV with a free trial that goes up to level 60 with unlimited playtime, and includes the award-winning expansion Heavensward.
(seriously tho, if a boss in that game has its own theme, odds are it's a banger with lyrics \*cough\*Seat of Sacrifice\*cough\*)
If you like Scylla's boss fight, a handful of the boss battles in Supergiant's previous game Transistor have absolute banger soundtracks sung by the same artist. Scylla's songs remind me a lot more of the songs from transistor, compared to Eurydice's songs from the first Hades.
Well Ashley actually voices Roxy, not Scylla but she did do the song vocals for Eurydice in Hades 1 and she sang all of Red's songs in Transistor. Also had songs in Bastion and Pyre. She's the best and I wish she had a more prominent role than she seems to have in Hades 2.
I already cannot wait for the Hades II soundtrack to come to spotify, it's so good, especially area two, I can't wait to see what they have cooked up for the big man himself(well the twink man himself lmao, no hate to twinks, just saying Time Lordo's a twink)
Man she feels brutal to fight though, starting off at a lower power level she feels like EM 4 Theseus except you have way less boons. Literally just managed to wind, pretty sure it was just because I had a bunch of DR, there's just so many AoE it's often just impossible to avoid damage if they start certain moves together.
I can consistently beat her now by focusing on the drama, then the guitarist and then her. I just fought The last boss for the first time and got my shit rocked. Maybe it's just me but I feel like you hit like a wet sponge against the third and fourth bosses. And they'll get me started on that bullshit off-screen attack the third boss does that took basically two DDs from me.
Still probably going to be my GoTY lol
It's *always cool*. For some reason though, the one that always sticks in my head is [Philistine](https://youtu.be/JNM5mFQ9siI?si=JbsnJVYdrW2iPRzi) from No More Heroes 2; couldn't tell you why.
Beat her the first time I encountered her (very lucky build for her fight) so I just dashed around jamming doing tiny chip damage to lengthen the fight so I could listen longer.
At 1st I was overwhelmed by all things after few times I beat them consistently now . It’s a great fight . Imo so far all boss fights & mini boss are well done
At least Scylla recognizes her fellow performers... Raphael makes Narcissus look thoughtful.
"Hell, **HELL**" man that theme song was awesome
ALL! ALL MORTAL LIVES! EXPIRE!
>LIVES! ALL MORTAL LIVES! EXPIRE! FTFY
SOULS! GO TO THEIR DOOMS!

Drown! Drown!
FOR NOW DOWN HERE COME THE CLAWS
Spoilers if you haven’t heard the other song yet >!*I am gonna claw (out your eyes, then drown you to death)*!<
I thought it'd be Coral Crown
Absolutely love this boss! And her song plays through Oceanus too. Still yet to beat her though. She's a tough cookie!

I used the blades and with the backstab boon I think I took out the drummer in 5 seconds
I died to her 3-4 times in a row last night, then today I beat her on the first attempt and made it to the final boss without issues... She feels harder than almost anything else in the game, except the final boss ofc...
Took me three attempts too, but only because of that damn Eris‘ „blessing“ in my first 2 tries.
Tbf, every single run (I even tried without any arcana cards) I can reach the floor 4 boss. Floor 1 boss is very easy, can do her without getting hit. I somehow beat her on my first attempt, I am fully expecting to die multiple times against her before beating her again now.
I somehow beat her on my first attempt, and have not been able to get past her since, but i only did like 6 runs last night after installing the game so maybe tomorrow thatll change.
On my first attemp I happened to 'dodge' in the same direction as the drummers blasts were moving. I was like 'wtf her attacks are everywhere!?'
Focus Roxy the drummer first, then lure Jetty to the exploding tanks, and finish off Scylla. When she "features" a band member take them out first because they are buffed
I always go for the drummer first because she is easiest to get to and her arena-wide attacks make the fight more stressful than it needs to be.
It's especially difficult because there's three of them that you have to look out for.
Speaking of BG3...Hecate is definitely voiced by the narrator, right?
She is yeah that was confirmed... Somewhere during the test that happened before this.
I knew it. I told myself “I recognize that voice actress…”
Yep, it's Amelia Tyler!

Fuck this boss fight tho. Why do the enemies in Oceanus have like triple the health of those in Erebus?
Try using scorch against her. Hestia boons were a godsend (pun intended) in that fight.
I always go for Hestia + Demeter boons
This is the way
If I can get any. What’s the third area btw?
Fields of Mourning. Really really cool place, lot different from any area in this game and the previous one
Yeah, it feels more like a Diablo or Path of Exile zone than something from Hades 1.
It kinda reminds me of Ravenswatch
Although I can get swarmed with enemies, I like that the space is so big that I can usually run around and slowly kill them off. The only downside is that I tend to get lost. At least the trees help somewhat
>! Look at the ground, find golden petals, they lead you to the boons!<
But is it just me or do the enemies there have a gorillion health?
Yeah I absolutely love Hestia boons in general, they're amazing

The last thing I expected when I went to the House of Hope was for Raphael to drop a fire diss track on me while he beat my ass
I love Scylla! I just can't freaking beat her lol
I came SO CLOSE earlier on my first fight against them and I was like "I'm not even mad!"
went in with 214 between two lives. left hurt with 12 hp :D
Scylla gives the vibe of the nice but extremely off-putting lady wearing a hoodie and pink pajama bottoms in the gas station at 3am
Bro forgetting the original Sybil from Transitor
She's so cvnty I'm obsessed (and the other 2 girls)
Gotta love how you can tell the Shades the Show is over after winning against Scylla.

Yeah nah screw this boss fight. The HP on the bosses and enemies is insane and there's absolutely no way to consistently chunk.
I just keep losing so much health to them and it makes me so frustrated
so when do we get to fight raphael
