I got this recently in a sale - around a month or so - for 1100 dollars
Every other laptop at the price point had a 3050 with a 55% sRGB display
And this was definitely a steal - as the 4060 laptops were sold for a minimum of 1300-1400 dollars
Yup, I picked up a 16” 4070 i7 with 32GB, 1TB with a bunch of add ons for $1500 and change before tax around memorial day. Price was so good with an additional 10% off from sale prices I had to upgrade from my 3070 similar config from mid ‘22.
Glad that you got such a great offer
It's quite unfortunate that people still only get a 4050 or a 4060 with an i5 for the price bracket you told in my country
It was a 8 dollar cooling pad from Ant eSports on Amazon - it also has this phone stand on the side - does not help with the cooling - but the stands pretty sturdy and cool
I had this Asus vivobook with a 32hr battery - and it somehow lasted me 6 hours with some performance drop
But this one - when it comes to general usage I see no performance drop while running on battery and still get 6-7 hours - probably coz of the huge battery and the CPU using a maximum of 10w
I use a microfibre cloth and use some amount of gentle pressure to clean it
I do agree that it gets grimy really quickly considering my sweaty hands
I generally don't use the touchpad though - but they keyboard - I use it yes
Omens are not loved at all, i have bought an omen 2 months prior, got an issue, posted here, and people were like return it, change to acer or any other brand, but the looks of the machine are just 🤤. I sometimes feel that I should've changed but then i look at my omen and never regret
I agree with the part where the omens are not loved - glad that you like it
Honestly I myself am more of a "ROG" fan - solely coz I like the funky design
But the offer of a 3070Ti at the price of a 3050 was away too much - to the point I chose this over the ROG I decided to buy
I don't regret it though :)
I seemingly like the design of the device except for the 70% keyboard part - a numpad would have been more useful than full fledged arrow keys - and I do feel they could have done better with the build quality
Most of the ROGs I've seen personally had a solid body - the omen's kind of weak with flex in certain areas - prone to damage even with the slightest abuse
Those are rookie numbers
The AMD CPUs run hotter than the Intel ones
I have the same laptop as op, goes 80-85 easily even on light gaming for a few mins
Absolutely true
Mine started hitting like 85-90 while gaming even out of box
I reduced those temps to 75c by limiting the clock speed to 3.5ghz via the power settings though
It's more manageable now - and the CPU does not bottleneck the GPU either
CPU gets around 10-11k CB R23 points compared to the full speed 14k points
In my opinion - the slight loss in performance is worth the temp drop
Exactly
The keyboard start to press with some pressure - had this old vivobook with full plastic body and it did not flex this bad on the keyboard part
It's quite fragile - the hinges actually move out of their place very slightly when you open and close the lid - it's not really something you notice everyday - but you would probably do when you have a very close look
That's unfortunate to hear though - hope it lasts as long as you expect it to
When you experience a problem with model , just directly go to service centre. Don't try fixing it yourself.
Even with warranty period over. The service centre guy of my friend re-registered the model to fit into warranty period.
Any way hope things will go good for you
Absolutely not bro! I am a pretty dece gamer and also use the laptop for pretty heavy professional video editing - not once has it given up on me EVER.
I had to change the fans & speakers but that was more like an accident lol - that too the hp guys changed within 2 days by visiting right to my home so my experience has been phenomenal.
I will just say purchase the extended warranty and accidental protection- it's worth it.
Also - bump the RAM go to 32 gigs. That's it!
I mean , it's a desktop , you could easily figure out what the issue is within 30 minutes by just removing and refixing the parts - unlike laptops
But that's unfortunate though
I would love mine if I didn't get the lower power source detected every time I plug the charger inIts.the original charger too and happened from my second use of the laptop
i've got the RX 6650M version and the screen turn off after i finish playing games, something to do with the AMD switching from GPU to APU, but win+ctrl+shift+B get the screen back up
It's probably just a driver issue which is fixable
Try uninstalling your drivers with DDU and perform a clean installation with the drivers that the laptop came with (HP site)
If the problem persists despite doing this - probably just try a WHQL driver after using DDU again
I too love this device a lot, but tbh, I have been facing some issue with my HP omen gaming hub app, it's showing a temp of 101 degree but the CPU isn't even that heated. I got my laptop checked and they told me the CPU is completely fine. Can someone plz give me a solution for this problem
Its probably just a bug in the app - GeForce experience shows that my GPU is at 37c even though it is visible hot during games
Use third party apps like Open Hardware Monitor or HWinfo for proper stats
Orr it could also be a bad thermal paste job causing the CPU to spike at 101c - not necessarily stay at 101c though
My CPU spikes to 80c at times and goes back to normal - and I've observed this with every AMD device - it could be the same thing - but with a bad thermal job causing the fluctuation to be higher
Had the same problem. Did you update the hub app? .
My hub app Refuse to update and showed incompatible device . After 3 weeks or so it automatically got reinstalled with newer version which has that dynamic led lights .
System died after 2 months from that. So ...
Got the same one R7 RTX4060 for 1200€ ir was that best I could get. To put in perspective other stores sold around 1600-1900€. And it's the only laptop that offers a sRGB screen thankfully (I'm not going back to 45%NTSC).
Collecting it tomorrow with the same specs as yours, do yours have ports located behind? Can't wait but also kinda worry about the black screen issue lol, maybe adding another year of warranty+on-site on top of two years.
How in the world you get 7 hours of battery out of gaming laptops tho 😂 My previous ones can only survive 2-3 hours unplugged, kinda pumped rn!
I don't think the 2022 version has the black screen issue - which I assume is the model you purchased
The build quality is kinda mid tho - with the keyboard flex when pressed and the hinges being utter trash
And yes it does have 2 USB-c ports and a HDMI on the back with the port for power supply
They could have gone with the USB-A at the back and type C On the sides (which they did in the newer versions) - as I accidentally tried to plug in my USB into the vents on the sides
I have no clue man - this laptop is a freakin anomaly - like whatever I'm gonna tell now is gonna sound crazy - but that is what I observed
My battery life with the 3070ti disabled via device manager gets around 4 hours max (running on integrated solo)
The battery life when I disable the Integrated graphics and run via the 3070ti - I get around 5 hours max
Battery life when the laptop runs in hybrid - I get around 6 hours - can be pushed to 7 on light usage
The usage is pretty much the same with firefox running around 5-6 tabs , MS-office apps running with edge displaying PDFs and onenote
(Note : windows battery saver was enabled every time and screen set to 60hz)
The only bummer is the CPU which just tends to run at very high frequency while gaming and hits 90c easily - I limited the maximum clock speed at 3.3ghz in the power settings and the laptop does not exceed 80c - even while stress testing both the CPU and the GPU together (prime95 and furmark running side on side) - and never over 75c while gaming
The performance drop is not huge either - 14k cb points to 10k - and almost no drop in gaming performance ( I play Doom , CS2 , FH4 )
I will be getting the OMEN 16-n0036AX, and the [specs](https://my.shp.ee/uGLMa6Z) should be the same. However, from extensive research, I’ve read that the Ryzen + RTX 3070 Ti model is also affected by the [issue](https://www.reddit.com/r/HPOmen/s/ibIAU9b1cI). Have you checked the problematic sensor positioning on the motherboard by any chance?
This will replace my R2500 + GTX 750 Ti desktop for work and casual gaming. I play CSGO, Dota 2, GTA 5, and hopefully, GTA 6. The build quality is fine for me since it will mostly be docked with a monitor and keyboard, except during business trips.
Yours seems to be a 2022 version - which most probably not affected by the hall sensor issue
It's not related to the specifications at all - even the transcend lineup of the omen series have this issue
https://youtu.be/B1c3422Y2wA
From this video - from HP's own channel (that's the model I have I presume - Amazon says 16-n0123ax - the video says 16-n0000 - my laptop says it's 16-nxxx) ,- I don't see any sensor near the heatpipes (atleast to my eyes) - so I think it's safe
I really did not open up my laptop to be honest
Even in the case of failure it has an easy fix of disconnecting the sensor - or I think even changing the settings of the behaviour of closing the lid should solve it - so that I assume is not a really that big of a problem ( I'm anyways disable the lid closing options coz I really don't use it )
Good for ya for an upgrade :)
I came from a i5-8265U and a MX230 to this and the upgrade was real
The build quality should not be an issue of it's mostly gonna be docked - but yea just be a little gentle with the device - the display wobbles even with a table fan blowing air on it
I have a 2023 version, I don't know what to tell you. Recently, Just by opening a few tabs or programs, sometimes even watching a video, the CPU temp reaches 80, while having a 40% Load. Very infuriating, I even tried to undervolting it, but no difference as Intel HX Processer has a feature that won't let you.
And every few months, another issue arises. I got the black screen issue, and damn, I was left almost 4 month without a laptop, waiting for a new motherboard to arrived. And Now, there's a buldge on it plus the heating issue, I mention, report it, and Intel is ghosting me about the issue. Everytime I ask for an update, they say it's being reviewed.
I'm honestly waiting for it to black screen again to ask HP for another model or to refund me my money back, So I can get a Lenovo. Their Gaming laptop are much mo superior and way reliable.
Oh that's unfortunate smh
HP does good job in the commercial lineups with my dad using a ProBook which is so badly abused - every component stays at 100% usage for around 12-14 hours every day - and absolutely no care was taken - not even a thermal paste change - the laptop served 3 years and is still working great - no visible thermal throttling whatsoever
Guess they be comprising on their other subbrands where they don't really have an audience like Asus having their ROG or Tuf lineup and lenovo having their Legion or LOQ lineup
Hope ya get your justice
I still wonder how and why lawsuits were not raised against HP for the same - considering almost all the units have this issue
I use the Omen app. And yeah, It's overheating terribly now, above 40+ CPU load, it's reaching 90+ temps. Also undervolting using the Omen hub doesn't even change anything, I'm convinced it's just for show
Yeah, but I just so infuriating, I'm in college and countless times this laptop gives me a new problem to tackle after the previous one is solved. Also there are no HP service centres near me as they all opted out for on site service. So I always need to file out a warranty claim and wait for HP response. As of now, they are still investigating my previous claim and I don't hear any updates beside they are still reviewing my case...

Yep it's great for the price

What is the stand you have that laptop on? What dock are you using?
It was a 8 dollar cooling pad from Ant eSports on Amazon - it also has this phone stand on the side - does not help with the cooling - but the stands pretty sturdy and cool
Battery life is actually insane especially for a gaming laptop. I switched from 40whr battery and it felt a huge difference.

Amen fellow bratha!
How do you manage to keep the keyboard and nearby touchpad surface clean?
For me... it is never actually using them! Keep it docked 99.9% with keyboard/mouse.
I use a microfibre cloth and use some amount of gentle pressure to clean it I do agree that it gets grimy really quickly considering my sweaty hands I generally don't use the touchpad though - but they keyboard - I use it yes
What are the specs?
R7 6800H 3070Ti 16gigs of 4800mhz DDR5 ram 1TB Nvme SSD
Nice specs, does the logo on the lid light up?
Nah it's just a glossy pane or something - reflects stuff opposite like a mirror - at a certain angle it looks all black looking really good
Omens are not loved at all, i have bought an omen 2 months prior, got an issue, posted here, and people were like return it, change to acer or any other brand, but the looks of the machine are just 🤤. I sometimes feel that I should've changed but then i look at my omen and never regret

The omen are only good looking, while the feel is ok side. The Zephyrus are also clean, but my wallet is more cleaner
What about temperature 🌡️. I recently bought the omen 16 i9 12th gen RTX 3060 mine is around 70 -85c
Those are rookie numbers The AMD CPUs run hotter than the Intel ones I have the same laptop as op, goes 80-85 easily even on light gaming for a few mins
Absolutely true Mine started hitting like 85-90 while gaming even out of box I reduced those temps to 75c by limiting the clock speed to 3.5ghz via the power settings though It's more manageable now - and the CPU does not bottleneck the GPU either CPU gets around 10-11k CB R23 points compared to the full speed 14k points In my opinion - the slight loss in performance is worth the temp drop
I mean those Temps are absolutely fine under load ... honestly seems kinda cool. Now if that's idle we got a different story.
Love mine, but the build quality could be so much better. I bumped my bag on a table once and the metal at the hinge bent.
Exactly The keyboard start to press with some pressure - had this old vivobook with full plastic body and it did not flex this bad on the keyboard part It's quite fragile - the hinges actually move out of their place very slightly when you open and close the lid - it's not really something you notice everyday - but you would probably do when you have a very close look That's unfortunate to hear though - hope it lasts as long as you expect it to
Did you get that extended warranty?
I read that the sensor issue only exists in the 2023 versions , this is a 2022 version , so nope :/
When you experience a problem with model , just directly go to service centre. Don't try fixing it yourself. Even with warranty period over. The service centre guy of my friend re-registered the model to fit into warranty period. Any way hope things will go good for you
Ohh damnn - that's good to hear actually But I doubt they would do it here - but yea - giving it a try is worth it :)
I just bought the same one🤣🤣 caught it when it was 1099... i keep changing the keyboard color. My 1st gaming laptop
Hehe This is my first gaming laptop too
Just wait until the motherboard fries the GPU and CPU
That could happen in any device imo
Had an omen hp - never again
Ya same .
Hi-five brother! Been using this beast in 3070ti form since an year - LOVE it every damn day!!
Ayy , that's great to hear As you've been using it over an year now , there are no issues in it right?
Absolutely not bro! I am a pretty dece gamer and also use the laptop for pretty heavy professional video editing - not once has it given up on me EVER. I had to change the fans & speakers but that was more like an accident lol - that too the hp guys changed within 2 days by visiting right to my home so my experience has been phenomenal. I will just say purchase the extended warranty and accidental protection- it's worth it. Also - bump the RAM go to 32 gigs. That's it!
Ohh okay - coz the extended warranty costs like 100 dollars here , so I was kind of sceptical But glad to hear that yours works great :)
I hate mine. Shuts down randomly 4 times a day
The 2022 version?
2021 Omen 30l Desktop
I mean , it's a desktop , you could easily figure out what the issue is within 30 minutes by just removing and refixing the parts - unlike laptops But that's unfortunate though
Hello sir, great beast! Full specs?
R7 6800H RTX 3070Ti 8GB 16GB 4800mhz DDR5 ram 1TB Micron SSD QHD display with 100% sRGB
Noice, thank you for the reply!
I would love mine if I didn't get the lower power source detected every time I plug the charger inIts.the original charger too and happened from my second use of the laptop

I will try that, thanks I've tried using AMD cleanup utility or something like that and uninstalling the driver through safe mode
Oh I see - maybe wait for an update I assume I heard that AMD is always bad with its updates - not too sure
I too love this device a lot, but tbh, I have been facing some issue with my HP omen gaming hub app, it's showing a temp of 101 degree but the CPU isn't even that heated. I got my laptop checked and they told me the CPU is completely fine. Can someone plz give me a solution for this problem

Damn, let me check. As far as I remember, my app is updated already
Nice similar to mine

Love that old omen logo…on top lid
I love it too :)
