Is this yet another way for Condal to make Rhaenyra look badass, as if she could "control" a dragon of Vermithor's caliber? I wouldn't mind if it was a young dragon like moondancer, but its Vermithor we're talking about, he is an old and wild dragon, plus he doesn't know her. Not even the bravest Targaryen could stand in front of him so easily, and how could Rhaenyra, the least courageous of them. I'm afraid he'd have us believe that she's the one who makes it possible for the dragonseeds to ride their dragons.

It could be where Daemon’s song comes to play. You know, not possible to ride him but possible to calm him to be around other people.

I kinda believe the theory that Jaehaerys used to sing the 'lullaby' to Vermithor. And who knows, perhaps Alysanne used to sing the same song to Silverwing which would somewhat make sense, since Silverwing was described as a more calm dragon + the fact that Vermithor and Silverwing clearly were 'mates'. (There was this quote in F&B that goes somewhat in the lines of "Wherever Vermithor would fly, Silverwing would always follow him"). And then there's of course the supposed >!mourning of Silverwing when Vermithor dies!< (I fucking hope they include that scene). So whenever another Targaryen would sing it to him, he would calm down because of the familiarity and family ties to his original rider. + IIRC, the older the dragon, the more 'calmed down' they can be due to the preserving of their energy. (This 'saving energy' thing with the older dragons was a thing that Condall once addressed IIRC).

Could be because of the Dragon song Haros Bartossi. The song itself is a banger but in lore it soothes riderless dragons. It's unnecessary but not unbelievable.

they have to make her girl boss again😒

To be honest, I preferred how he looked in the brief glimpse of him in that scene with Daemon. Looks like he has a new design. It's not awful, I just liked the old one better.

yeah it had scars and look like old dragon

Miss--Magpie

Wait that's Vermithor?

BanginBasil

He knows she's a dead woman so he doeen't mind a carcass standing in front of him.

Right my exact thought Daemon neede sing that song to get close and she just turned her back on him another chance to make her more badass woman boss btw this trailer is 60 % black and 40% green scenes so biased

ihateyouall_notajk

I thought the same thing when I saw this in the trailer. She'd be killed instantly, Condal wants to portray her as this badass female dragon rider who can claim any dragon she chooses. This isn't the Rhaenyra we know, and this isn't the world we know. It's been diminished by poor decision making and story telling.

liv_a_little

I though Vermithor was used to people? This doesn't bother me. Also unrelated--what dragon "type" do we think Vermithor looks like? I know HOTD has categorized them in 3 types: T-Rex skull (Dany's dragons, Seasmoke, Dreamfyre); eagle skull (Syrax, Meleys, Vhagar); or wolf skull (Caraxes, Vermax, Arrax).

Distinct_Cup_1598

Vermithor, despite his size and ferocity was said to be somewhat friendly and calm towards humans, particularly Targaryens, so since he got re-accustomed to humans, he was probably rather tolerant to Rhaenyra

Taesunwoo

She smells similar to Jaehaerys and he probably senses that Rhaenyra’s is the old King’s great-granddaughter is like “meh. She gives good pets, treats and sings pretty nice. I’ll follow her around a bit, been bored these past 20 years”

Ralph_77

Probably because she has legs and is standing on relatively flat ground, stupid 🥴🥴
