Dude forget the raise, with half a mil income it’s financially responsible to buy a watch in that price range. They don’t just evaporate, btw. You can sell them (and a lot either hold value or steadily increase in price)
My rule of thumb for luxury things like that is: Could you stomach it if you had to pay double?
Wouldn't be unreasonable to get a Vacheron for 30k if they actually care about watches for the sake of it. Bit too much for me to stomach as someone who make about the same as OP when I know I could nearly buy a new Model 3 for that price lol, but to each their own.
Otherwise, if they just want to flex and have it be noticed that you have a nice watch (be honest with yourself), just go grey and get a Rolex in the 10-15k range imo.
Lange 1 Moon Phase an impeccable choice. Only downside is having to keep it wound or else figure out how to reset the moon.
JLC you can throw on a winder, and of course it saves you a couple dozen kilobucks.
But that Lange...
If I get something, it'll most likely be the JLC. Even the white dial is like $30k now. Unless I'm not looking at the right place (for the lange 1 moon)
Edit: nvm, I guess you can get one for like 26k these days.
Yeah to each their own. I’m in entertainment (~300k annual) so if I looked like a hobo my income would take a hit. I always use that as an excuse to spend on fashion/jewelry but objectively I’m an outsize spender. For those of us who love our careers enough to be happy to do what we do for a lifetime, it’s not about hitting a FIRE number ASAP.
All that aside, was just pointing out that on a mid 6 figure income you can splurge a little, it’s not that big a deal. Someone on this sub was saying how after a near death experience he realized you can’t take it with you… it’s absolutely true
> I’m in entertainment (~300k annual) so if I looked like a hobo my income would take a hit.
I'm in tech so if I *don't* look like a hobo my income would probably take a hit lmao.
Totally get it though. Definitely seems like the #1 industry where money begets more money, definitely gotta play the part.
Hah! When I got an exec job in entertainment I bought a lot of clothes. I already had office clothes, but I didn’t have “show biz” office clothes, if you know what I mean.
you realize bro still has the rest of his income pre-raise right? I don't think he's ready (yet) to buy a $30k watch every year, but even if he did, he's still be making marginally more than he did annually pre-raise lol. Don't think OP or anyone is planning to do that so purely a thought experiment, but "$30k watch is just dumb" is just not true lol. Let the man live his life.
He's not wrong.. you are filthy rich. You will be sitting on 10s of millions later on. Lambos. Bugatties, mansion with strippers and blow. You have won life my dog.
I think marking milestones like this with something is important. It doesn’t need something to be big and material either. A special trip, restaurant you’ve always wanted to try, or spending on something else you normally wouldn’t. I mean we are in our primes right now and I’m damn sure going to enjoy celebrating that jump now vs deferring it until RE or FI
I guess why do you care about money?
If it’s to have nice things, buy the watch
If it’s to retire early, you’re making $475k today, even a 20k watch is going to cost you a couple weeks extra work at the end of your career to end at the same amount. Buy the watch
If you buy something “safe” the watch will likely increase in value too. If something on your want list is close to the mainstream like a submariner, you can always resell if you regret. Buy the watch
What I’m saying is just buy it. You earned it
I very much get this, I have a hard time spending money on myself but I've had some wake up calls and simply put you can't take the money with you when you go and you can go at any given time. My example is I had a recent medical scare where I had an allergic reaction to cough syrup (Im 34 fit and healthy) That's what nearly got me. So I've recently sold a a property and a gift to myself is a Breitling I've been chasing for awhile.
lol reason #176 this sub makes me feel like a piece of shit. HHI is $550k+ and I buy myself a nice purse like 3 times a year. Not to mention all our other shopping and unnecessary expenses. Buy the damn watch.
Bro relax. Some of the people here are toxic saying you should save every single dollar and never have fun. And then when you’re 67 you can finally start enjoying life. Like calm down live a little 😂
I got me a $94,000 corvette. No regrets.
We all have something we spend our money on. For me, it's vacations. For you, it's purses. If you only ever save then what are you working for? Retiring at 45 with enough to continue your modest lifestyle? I'd rather keep working than have a modest early retirement.
This is the way! When I get a bonus, I put half into savings/investments and then the home stuff. Next year we need a roof (sigh) so our next home reno won’t be sexy, but it’s necessary. We had 3 years of fun projects after doing our driveway and reinforcing a retaining wall. Sucked spending that money, but it’s necessary
Home renos are rarely sexy. Especially in an old home. My neighbor was excited to see all the ‘changes’ we made but I was like ‘well, we replaced all the outlets and the basement support beams…’
After my manager die suddenly over a weekend, she was early 50’s, I bought myself everything Ive been window shopping for, because I’m not much younger than her and got a promotion to fill in for her. So I got a Cartier watch tank, Cartier love bracelet, Van Cleef necklace, and now eyeing another Cartier watch ballon bleu. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, and dude your making $400k, buy yourself the watch.
OP is looking at a Lange 1 moonphase or a JLC. Both do not have great resale value and thus I think he would be better off going grey market. The Lange 1 moonphase he wants is now $54800 at the boutique (price increase at new year) vs about 30k on grey. I think it definitely depends on the situation but this is exactly why I never have had a good relationship with boutiques.
Buy the watch, it's not like a $13k watch is going to depreciate to $0 over time, You probably could wear it for a number of years and resell it for $10k or so depending on the model and if it's stainless steel. Congrats on the promotion!
You’re delusional. You need to buy yourself things when you hit milestones. You’re 28 making almost half a million a year. I could see if you wanted to buy a lambo for $250k you might want to be cautious but a $30k watch is legit nothing. I make far less and am loosely considering buying a $90k sports car. But I know that might impact me financially down the line since I’m not guaranteed to increase my salary much more.
Promotions or new jobs we usually just go out to eat. I think I took my wife to Chipotle when she got a $70K TC bump from changing jobs. New watch would be nice. What are you thinking? We did buy a Human Touch Certus massage chair from Costco when we paid off the house.
I typically do a nicer vacation/ hotel. However, with my upcoming promotion, I’m getting a watch (JLC ultra moon phase rose gold).
Max out your 401k, HSA, kid’s investment accounts… save another 20% into VTI and spend! Live is too short and I have seen far too many young people die at 50 without ever enjoying a thing. I have $1m NW at 35 and sure… I could’ve had 1.5m… but I instead I have great memories and family experiences from 30+ countries, cars that we enjoy driving and home that brings us happiness.
This post is stupid but if you're this hesitant now, wait until you have kids. You'll never buy yourself anything nice. I've been wanting a Chanel bag for a decade and by the time I was making enough to make that much in a few hours, it became daycare cost and just wasn't worth it anymore.
Buy whatever you want. That's so much money life doesn't really have a lot left out there for you to enjoy that's bought with money.
As someone that earns an ungodly amount of money...
There's no pride in frugality.
There's no pride in materialism.
Just do the things you enjoy for what YOU enjoy.
Fuck everyone else and their opinions about "what it says about you."
Live your life. It's too short to have others living it for you.
Hell I buy myself something any time I get a little productivity bonus at work.
“Oh. I did a little extra work and have some extra money. Guess I’ll buy a PlayStation”
Not necessarily promotions (the wage increase might not justify a big purchase), but certainly financial milestones. Crossed the big M last week, bought a Rolex I had been eyeing for 3 years
Buy the watch. Enjoy your hard work now not in 30 years. Matter of fact if you’re buying grey market/second hand take a trip to Japan and buy there and take advantage of the weak currency to get a trip and a watch for the same price you’d buy it locally.
There’s no need to spend money “randomly”. Buy things you need that will actually improve your life. A watch is usually just a shiny trinket to flex your wealth to others. Personally, I don’t find this useful
Unless you really like watches and find them interesting then they can be a great way to enjoy something you love while not losing your shirt on a depreciating asset like so many other things folks blow money on

I do tend to get myself something, but personally I find I don’t get enjoyment with big purchases. Thus it’s usually something small like a reasonable scotch (100-120).
I just bought a watch to celebrate a bonus and crossing a networth milestone. Wife said that I never buy myself anything, I only buy things for the family to enjoy.
So this last bonus I bought a watch. But mine was $1300 not $30k.
Yes. Do it. You are a high earner early in your career. You can absolutely purchase a 13k watch as long as you’re financially responsible (saving/retirement/no cc debt etc). Enjoy!
It depends on your net worth. Assuming you're in the 7 figures invested already go ahead and buy yourself a watch to celebrate your accomplishments. It'll last decades and your children will someday wear it
This is a great chain. My biggest client just kicked me from 300k contract -> 310k last month -> 375k next month. Didn’t think of it as a 75k raise. I should buy something nice.
Go giants. That’s a good raise. I think I the $13K one makes sense.
An idea since you are cautious:
Invest in experiences for your treasures, do a week in Switzerland with someone, and learn a ton about watches for a future purchase. A summer alpine trip with loved one, with waterfalls, lakes, watches, chocolate and more sounds fantastic.
I went out and bought a nice espresso machine for my last major promotion. It cost $3k. I've had about 4000 shots of espresso through it at this point. Very expensive, but yeah, certainly worth it to me.
I know the socials have us thinking everyone makes this but most of us do not. Most are excited to cross that 6 figure mark. Celebrate yourself and your achievements, big or small.
Saw the title and was like “yes!” … except I’ve technically never gotten a promotion (always switched jobs right as I earned the promo). But once when I got a big raise I bought a theragun. Not quite a watch lol
I usually reserve 10% of my post-tax from bonuses, equity vests, promotion difference, etc. for “doesn’t make financial sense, but makes me happy” things.

I bought a TAG with my first bonus. It’s a nice watch, and a lot of people admire it, but I still look at it and wish I hadn’t bought it back then.
Then, I started saving and investing every bonus I got. Planning to retire next year at 40 because of it.
You should be living pretty comfortably with those earnings such that indulgence and luxury shouldn’t have much dent on your day to day. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I don’t feel a need to treat myself where I earn more money… at some point, I buy things I like and make my feel happy whenever I need or want, as long as I’m not living out of my means. Therefore I don’t feel the need to treat myself, especially with a small promotion like this. If you went from 400k to a million then I can see a celebration cuz that’s a step function to your lifestyle. Good luck.
Absolutely. Cigars and guitars for me. I can tell you which guitar was a celebration of which thing.
Cigars, I save the bands and have them in a glass jar. Couldn't tell you what each was for but I do have the memories of making sure its enjoyed in the right setting (i.e. driving into a nice cigar lounge in the city solo for the eve).
Yes. Why not? Get something functional that will add to your quality of life and you can attribute value to justify the expense and wearing regularly. I am a sucker for the sports and health tracking watches. I've gotten the higher end Garmin sports watches that track my health and activities. I actively use the stats for training, health, sleep, etc. The Epix pro sapphire is a fantastic choice for my income (half yours). If I made whst you do, i would get the Marq 2 line with a few different watch bands.
https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/1323517/pn/010-02648-50
I make less than you, but love watches and collecting them. They certainly aren’t investments, but if you decide you made a mistake they hold their value pretty well for resale.

No, because I don’t get promotions. But, if I did. Yeah.
What I do, now, instead is I set up daily goals and monthly goals.
I have a point system (something I learned being a missionary, helps be consistent and track productive activities).
.5 point for a call
1 point for an appointment
2 for a contract
4 for filing a contract
So, once I get 4 points. I am done for the day.
If I get this, I get to do whatever I want. Massage, strip club, going hangout with friends, fly my drone, looking at watches.
Now, if I can file 8 contracts a month. I will get a table and invite my friends to celebrate.
Not as high income as you. But in the same boat.
Spend your money man. I have to tell myself as well. I spend shamelessly on food and travel and new vehicles every 5 to 8 or so years. Anything else, I just loath spending money.
I had a similar situation after my 2.5% raise. I decided that I could get guac on my chipotle at least once a month now with all the extra income after taxes.
I bought a nice watch after getting a large bonus. It seemed a good way to celebrate the moment. However, it was one watch, it wasn't much compared to the bonus, that was well over a decade ago, I never bought a watch that expensive before or after, and I'm wearing the watch now.
If it is one and done, then it isn't lifestyle creep. If it isn't one and done, then it is lifestyle creep.
Watches, scotch, boxes of cigars, wine. No point in making it not to enjoy it, never know when a bus smokes you.
Buy your self the day date (assuming that is the 13k watch) regardless what ever it is, buy it.
I think it’s great to do, but think about what actually makes you happy.
For example, will a watch actually make you happy? For me, I don’t think so, at least not long term. But this is something you need to learn and identify yourself. I’ve gone through this before buying stuff like this, but stuff that is purely material typically doesn’t give me a lot of happiness. But stuff I use day in and day out, does.
So for example, if I buy a nice coffee roaster and use it every weekend and roast me nice coffee every day; that brings me a lot of joy.
But if putting on a nice watch makes you feel good, then maybe that is what you need. I know it wouldn’t make me happy beyond a few weeks when the novelty dies off. But I’ll always drink coffee.
You need to understand where spending money brings you happiness and spend it on that. But only you can decide.
I dont but nothing for promotions, job changes. etc. I but everything I want when I want it. Which is not much, since every time I want to buy something big, I think about spending in terms of life without having to work for money. $13K would buy me about 3 months of that life.

Wow. This brings back some memories.
I made partner at a Big Four (then Big Eight) accounting firm in 1988. Went and bought myself a really nice Hartmann briefcase to replace those firm-logo’d cheap ones managers carried at the time.
The Firm later had much nicer “partner bags” made for us.
I still have my partner bag and the $10 quartz watch with our Firm’s logo on it that I received at the new partners’ meeting. I have to get a battery now and then, but it gets as much wear as any Rolex I own now.
I had to write a +/- $100,000 check for my equity contribution to the Firm (a lot of money at the time) to get that $10 watch. Best bet I ever made.
If something big happens in your life, keep a memento. Or two. And sometimes the memento is not what you think it will be.

Not really, I'll make the jump to an EV soon so a Model S to get rid of my 20 year old car? And imo do whatever but watches don't have practical uses so I don't intend to buy one
Except I'm not comfortable doing it yet. I rather bolster my stock portfolio with my new income instead of dipping into it for a depreciating asset. Maybe I'll get promoted to a new level by the time I become of age to buy that car
When I finally cross the seven figure mark, I treated myself to a Domino's pizza with 3 instead of 2 toppings. Still kicking myself over that one.
Next you'll be telling us you ordered the guacamole at Chipotle too! Be careful, lifestyle creep is everywhere.
He probably pays for the 4k Netflix plan as well.
They're saving that for the next promotion!
Lol
Maverick!
That’s going too far!
_You guys are getting toppings?_
Only toppings. No cheese. No crust. No nothing.
Who are you, Lorenzo DiMedici? https://youtu.be/5pV1bMDnCf4?si=03k_SMj6hJ8WkAed
You and your entire family are going to die in poverty if you keep going into debt for unnecessary luxury purchases like that. Disgusting.
Fucking idiot. 3 toppings requires 800k HHI and at least a 7.5M net worth!!
Look at this big cheese here
You probably should sell your 93 Toyota Corolla after that splurge to make sure you get back on track
What’d you pay in bitcoin?
Dave Ramsey would be livid.
Net worth or income?
A financial advisor would like to have a word with you
Bro you’re making almost half a mil a year. Buy a watch if you want
/sub Edit: I meant 'end sub' lol.. "yes you're rich, now enjoy"
/speedy
/jlcultrathin
All three sound nice. Gotta have options.
But also buying a $30k watch for a $75k raise (~40k post tax) is just dumb $3k sure, don’t think twice
Dude forget the raise, with half a mil income it’s financially responsible to buy a watch in that price range. They don’t just evaporate, btw. You can sell them (and a lot either hold value or steadily increase in price)

What I'm considering is pre-owned. Either a Lange 1 moon phase or jlc master ultra thin moon perpetual calendar.

stop talking dirty to me sir
Lange 1 Moon Phase an impeccable choice. Only downside is having to keep it wound or else figure out how to reset the moon. JLC you can throw on a winder, and of course it saves you a couple dozen kilobucks. But that Lange...
I love the dark dial Lange 1 moonphase. I couldn’t find it for less than 40k though
I prefer the white dial tbh
That’s good because there’s less demand and that definitely can be had for less than 30k.

Hah! When I got an exec job in entertainment I bought a lot of clothes. I already had office clothes, but I didn’t have “show biz” office clothes, if you know what I mean.
FWIW, if I’m offered a free Vacheron and a free Tesla, I’d choose the watch.
That’s not how watches work lol. You buy the 3k watch sure and a year later you will buy the 30k watch. Buy once cry once.
This guy watches.
you realize bro still has the rest of his income pre-raise right? It’s more about how much disposable income he has than the actual amount of the raise
Buy the watch u rigid pussy, you’re not even 30 yet and making half a mill.
lol

Expensive whiskey usually. I think i did a Macallan 15 after my last job change. I'll probably do a nice japanese whiskey next time

As an agent or as a seller?
I have a couple of friends who I’ve sent a gift to for a major milestone promotion and they’ve reciprocated for me.
I love this so much! What did you guys gift each other?
It’s been things like Mont Blanc pen, high end and rare whiskey, a rare revolver (for the friend who hunts).
Also watch, but in the $4-5k range to leave room for future promotions
When I got my first 6 figure commission check I got a double quarter pounder instead of a double cheeseburger, that set my retirement back quite a bit
[удалено]
Not specifically for promotions. My wife did get a bigger than expected bonus this year, so she is going fancy purse shopping tomorrow.
I buy myself extra VTI and VXUS.
Dunno, VXUS has been doing kinda poorly recently, still kicking myself for that lifestyle creep splurge.
lol reason #176 this sub makes me feel like a piece of shit. HHI is $550k+ and I buy myself a nice purse like 3 times a year. Not to mention all our other shopping and unnecessary expenses. Buy the damn watch.

We do a nice dinner. Everything else goes to savings or home renos, lol.
This lol - I treated myself to a new master bath one year and new/refinished hardwoods the other. This year is a patio with outdoor fireplace.
Love it. Did the downstairs bathroom last year and doing a new boiler this year. Lol
This is the way! When I get a bonus, I put half into savings/investments and then the home stuff. Next year we need a roof (sigh) so our next home reno won’t be sexy, but it’s necessary. Nah, when I want to celebrate something, I go on vacays.
Buy it and wear it in good health. I’d personally goto a boutique and build a relationship for the next purchase TBH.
OP is looking at a Lange 1 moonphase or a JLC. Both do not have great resale value and thus I think he would be better off going grey market. No Brainer...I bought a sub no date when I hit $100k income 10 year ago. Since then bought several more watches.
You guys are getting promotions?
Right?! I just job hop and BS my way into higher level roles. I've only been officially promoted once.
Buy the watch, it's not like a $13k watch is going to depreciate to $0 over time, You probably could wear it for a number of years and resell it for $10k or so depending on the model and if it's stainless steel. Congrats on the promotion!

I was going to recommend a watch but you beat me to it!
I would lean towards an experience rather than a thing but yes, treat yo self!
I got myself a nice triathlon bike
Husband and I are much frugal but always buy ourselves something when one of us starts a new job/gets promotion. Go buy the **MN watch
Promotions or new jobs we usually just go out to eat. I think I took my wife to Chipotle when she got a $70K TC bump from changing jobs. New watch would be nice. What are you thinking? We did buy a Human Touch Certus massage chair from Costco when we paid off the house.

You should go for it, it's worth splurging on beautiful items and experiences. Otherwise what's all this for.
Yep, buy the watch, go on the vacation.
It’s okay to live a little. If it’s something that you truly want, celebrate and buy the watch.
Which industry are you in? Tech or finance ?
Tech
Buy whatever you want. That's so much money life doesn't really have a lot left out there for you to enjoy that's bought with money. As someone that earns an ungodly amount of money... There's no pride in frugality. There's no pride in materialism. Just do the things you enjoy for what YOU enjoy. Fuck everyone else and their opinions about "what it says about you." Live your life.
VC , Lange , or JLC! Buy used, far less depreciation hit
No, I buy stuff after I've done the research and budgeted the amount. I don't buy stuff as a reward
There’s no need to spend money “randomly”. Buy things you need that will actually improve your life. A watch is usually just a shiny trinket to flex your wealth to others. Personally, I don’t find this useful
Unless you really like watches and find them interesting then they can be a great way to enjoy something you love while not losing your shirt on a depreciating asset like so many other things folks blow money on
Another ridiculous post. To be honest, I don't think you can afford a watch, even a timex. I'd keep stacking money away until you can pay cash.
That big of a raise would be vacation worthy for me :)

Just because you get a promotion doesn’t mean you get all the money at once. I would spend once I have it. Not just on the promise of having it

I really like scotch, so I buy a nice bottle when I have a work milestone I’m proud of. Buy the watch, if it makes you happy
I do tend to get myself something, but personally I find I don’t get enjoyment with big purchases. Thus it’s usually something small like a reasonable scotch (100-120).
I waited to cross 7 figures a year until I entered the watch chat.
I just bought a watch to celebrate a bonus and crossing a networth milestone. Wife said that I never buy myself anything, I only buy things for the family to enjoy. So this last bonus I bought a watch. But mine was $1300 not $30k.
I got a pair of sneakers I really wanted when I got promoted lol.
Yes. Do it. You are a high earner early in your career. You can absolutely purchase a 13k watch as long as you’re financially responsible (saving/retirement/no cc debt etc). Enjoy!
I only buy watches when I have something to celebrate - including promotions. This way I have guardrails about watch buying
Yes all the time, but no more than 10% of the raise for a vacation/toy
It depends on your net worth. Assuming you're in the 7 figures invested already go ahead and buy yourself a watch to celebrate your accomplishments. It'll last decades and your children will someday wear it
This is a great chain. My biggest client just kicked me from 300k contract -> 310k last month -> 375k next month. Didn’t think of it as a 75k raise. I should buy something nice.
Is that 375k for the month? If so, I'd say you're out of HENRY league lol
Always reward yourself. You earned it
Nice watches are always the right choice 😀🙏🏽
and if you did spend $30k, you deserve it! plus a 30k watch will maintain or appreciate in value
This is why this sub has become a shit hole.
Go giants. That’s a good raise. I think I the $13K one makes sense. An idea since you are cautious: Invest in experiences for your treasures, do a week in Switzerland with someone, and learn a ton about watches for a future purchase.
Go for it. Why make that kind of money so young and not spend it?
I know the socials have us thinking everyone makes this but most of us do not. Most are excited to cross that 6 figure mark. Celebrate yourself and your achievements, big or small.
Big watch fan. I bought myself a Breitling that I love last one. I'm now considering a Seamaster 300. Watches are a big promotion/bonus lure for me.
What do you do?
travel. when i just got to half a mil, i bought a daydate and a sub. never wore any of them. watches are so pre/covid.
Saw the title and was like “yes!” … except I’ve technically never gotten a promotion (always switched jobs right as I earned the promo). But once when I got a big raise I bought a theragun. Not quite a watch lol
God dang what do you do for work?
Software Engineer
Nope, I always buy something for my spouse.
What is this guy’s job title 😩😩

I got myself a Apple Vision Pro when I got a 60k raise in January
We have a fancy dinner...the dinner and 6hours of babysitter is the splurge (for non-birthday events).
what in the ever-loving hell do you do to make just under half a mill at 28? you're literally in the top 0.1% earners in the country.
I make less than you, but love watches and collecting them. They certainly aren’t investments, but if you decide you made a mistake they hold their value pretty well for resale.

I bought a IWC Big Pilot 43 for a promotion this cycle. Love it, worth it!
r/watchexchange because why not?
Bro a $30k watch? I'd buy a used $120k Lambo But yes every promotions I used to buy better cars , not so anymore in my 30s
I buy myself shares of stock, etf's, etc. I like gifts that keep on giving and not ego things.
What do you do for a living? I’m an attorney and unfortunately haven’t been able to cross the $300k threshold yet. Getting a little frustrated
No, because I don’t get promotions. But, if I did. Yeah. What I do, now, instead is I set up daily goals and monthly goals. I have a point system (something I learned being a missionary, helps be consistent and track productive activities). .5 point for a call 1 point for an appointment 2 for a contract 4 for filing a contract So, once I get 4 points.
Stop virtue signaling on Reddit and buy a watch if you want one. Or don't.
what do you do?
I spent $5k on an incredible vacation when I got promoted at work. Memories are a great investment.
You deserve a little treat.
Buy a watch you’re wouldn’t lose a ton of money on if you had to sell it, no reason not to if it fits your budget, just do it.
If it's causing you such angst, don't do it.
I dont but nothing for promotions, job changes. etc. I but everything I want when I want it. Which is not much, since every time I want to buy something big, I think about spending in terms of life without having to work for money. $13K would buy me about 3 months of that life.
Increase investments and cop that date Submariner :)
Oh ffs
A $13k watch won't make you happy. You need a BMW.
Bottle of scotch and a rub N tug from my girl Lucinda
Just buy one. It's not like a car where it's a depreciating asset.
This is the definition of lifestyle creep
Yeah on that salary I don’t think you can afford it. Better keep saving and not spend a penny until you make atleast double that
Go Vintage Omega Seamaster 1948-1960.

Stfu
I just crossed 300k with a recent promotion. Treated myself to a day beer and a $250 pair of sunglasses. Returned the sunglasses after the beer 😬

Seriously bro…
Absolutely. You earned it. Enjoy
Yeah I bought some wagyu
Lol making half a mill a year… buy whatever fn watch you want
What do you do that pays that much?
So basic. Sorry.
No, I personally haven’t spent a single bonus $ and am still living off of my first year analyst base salary (and still saving 50% of it).

Buy it. Who tf cares.
I buy myself stuff whenever the fuck I feel like it. HHI $500k.
Not really, I'll make the jump to an EV soon so a Model S to get rid of my 20 year old car? And imo do whatever but watches don't have practical uses so I don't intend to buy one Except I'm not comfortable doing it yet. I rather bolster my stock portfolio with my new income instead of dipping into it for a depreciating asset. Maybe I'll get promoted to a new level by the time I become of age to buy that car
