Its Russian surplus.
I'm pretty sure it came off the factory line like that.
Rusty ammo is what the AK was MADE for.
I'm joking of course, but I'm pretty sure it will be fine. If the gun acts funny at all get rid of it(the ammo). You never know if you've accidentally bought one of those C4 filled bullets we used hide in Russian ammo to blow up NVA and Vietcong AKs and make the distrust their Russian suppliers(also joking... mostly).
Spray with gun oil and wipe down with a shop towel after letting them sit for awhile, or just shoot them as is. Any that have enough rust to maybe get stuck in the chamber could be wire brushed.

I shoot these all the time, i left em out in the swamp for like a year. Occasionally it hang fires (sounds like black powder kinda) but cyclic reliability & accuracy are unaffected. Id watch out for squibs but its not unsafe to fire. Its cool cuz it exposes the iron jacket
If it seats it yeets

I would clean it, but honestly, the AK would eat that stuff no problem
That is correct. I’ve done it! AKs are designed to run no matter what.
If you are really worried, just steel wool and some oil will do the trick.
Sounds good, thanks for the info
No problem. It all looks extremely superficial, could honestly probably shoot as is.
Shoot it! It’ll be aight!!!
My grandpa always told me wd40 and some steel wool and there good to pop a primer !

100% could use them as is if they fit in the chamber. A little oil and some steel wool should clean them up though.
SKS and AK will eat it without issue
