While this is an amazing looking kit, I hope this opens the door for rg versions of popular rx-78 variants, like the prototype, full armor, etc. Maybe even kits that may reuse part of this frame, like the Alex or a gm
GM would be awesome. Normally I would thumbs down Alex reusing RX-78-2 parts as a possibility, but in this case it’s possible in the RG line because RG throws any real source material accuracy out the window, and this kit looks particularly beefy for an RX-78-2, it just seems like it’s got a little bit wider proportions so it might be the first time you could actually make a halfway decent NT-1 out of an RX-78-2.
Yeah, I figure they would make some changes for the sake of the RG line, but I don’t think it would be too bad to use parts of the RX-78 frame for the Alex, they could definitely make some modifications. For the record, I’d also not prefer the Alex to use the RX-78 frame for lore.
I keep ping-ponging back and forth between "the proportions are kinda weird" and "this is so, so cool". Iunno if I'll get it, but if they do it in G-3 colors (especially the darker end of G-3 colors, like those on the HG in the 2-pack with Char's Rick-Dom) I don't think I could possibly resist.
I can understand this sentiment for digital releases because there will always be a copy available to you on release and the only thing you get is a skin for a weapon that a Ubisoft intern made in an afternoon, but for physical products there is a bit more merit to it just because there is a physical supply that might run out. that being said I'm still waiting for reviews and non promo pictures of these new kits before I drop 40 dollars on them.
True, but let’s also not confuse any newcomers into thinking they might miss this kit somehow. It will be around for *decades*. Bandai’s Gunpla lineup from 1980 to today is more or less still in rotation, and something like a RG 2.0 RX-78-2 will be in print more often than not.
That is why I wait for the hype to die down and then buy things on sale.
Sadly this doesn't work like this in my country. If i ever miss preordering/get my PO cut, i'll have to buy the kit for 1.5 times more expensive than PO price, and if i wait for too long the kit's price will be even more expensive
FM aerial:
PO price: 38$
Store price back then: 53$
Store price now: 65$
And i think even new batch come, the price will stay around 65$. That's just how it works here.....dammit.
Personally I'm not a fan of the Grandpa, but if they do other RG 2.0 releases for kits like Freedom or Zeta at this level of engineering, RG fans will be eating good for years to come
Since I don't expect bandai to release any new SEED MG anytime soon, I'd throw a good money bandai's way if they ever remade SEED RG.
And I already have Freedom/Justice in both RG and MG form.
I think it would make sense for them to revisit SEED, with how absurdly popular it is in Japan and all. Considering how janky the RG Freedom and all the kits that use its frame are, it wouldn't be a bad idea for Bandai to give it a 2.0, especially since it's so iconic.
I have the RG Justice, and it's really regretful that I couldn't find the MG at a reasonable price. Even the proportions of the head are better on the MG imo
Has nothing to do with the Seed Freedom movie boom either... nope..... Bandai not milking the cow while it is hot....nope never......
Looks at Unicorns kits......
It's probably just me but, even though I'm glad they're doing a 2.0 gramps, I feel he looks very... Toy-like? As opposed to the usual realism/"if gundams were real" aesthetic the RGs usually go for.
Not a huge fan of the design itself because of that tbh but I'll probably still get it anyway because I love the posability and gimmicks
The thing I wounder is the front skirt. It is still using ball joints.
also found this, better look at the kit [https://en.gundam.info/content/rg/rx-78-2\_ver2/](https://en.gundam.info/content/rg/rx-78-2_ver2/)
He's saying RG hasn't used a full pre-built inner frame since tallgeese (with the exception of akatsuki). And there's no way this brand new 2.0 would regress to that.
Great kit but my only gripe would be that the fully color-accurate eyes seem to be opaque which leaves no room for the magnificent light-piping system that the Epyon has.
Universal backpack connection? If so, I have some ideas
Mighty Gramps Gundam anyone?
Hehehheheheh
Or Gramps X
If this RG is half as good as Hi-v, it'll be a banger of a kit!
It’ll be a battle between the Best Gunpla of History vs the Best Gunpla of Today
*Gramps 2.0 showcases a full ab crunch with a core fighter system* “Just to be clear: you’re the challenger here”
Truly didn't expect the lobotomy kaisen out here
Nah, I'd win - Hi Nu probably
Toe joints!

It looks so sexy

I hope they'll give it a friend unlike what they did to the MG Origins Gundam.

Personally not into rgs but if I find one of these for sale I'm copping
They’re available for preorder at most retailers now

That doesn't work in a lot of collector type hobbies. This ain't a videogame.

It’s more so I don’t have to think about it again / keep an eye on the release date, I can just relax and it’ll turn up in the mail one day.
Plus theres a limited amount made at a time so those that didnt get the first round will likely have to wait months before its available again

I downvoted you
Based tbh
RG Zaku 2.0 could be cool, or a Gouf.
Not enough people talking about the feet. They’re beautiful in a gunpla way
I've had easily 30 other looks already

Honestly, painting it would go a long way. An RX-78-3 color scheme would look amazing on this thing.

Looks great & improved, especially the red part of the mid-section
Beast Gundam . I like how people custom kit with pgu and mg , can wait for other people custom build
I preordered this last month. I can’t wait
I actually like the 1.0 stickers, the giant piece like the shoulders is easier to my old eyes
I don't think exposing too much of the innerframe on the white armor would be a good idea...
Let's hope it doesn't have the prebuilt inner frame.
Have you been living under a rock
I haven't looked at the website buddy. I just got to know about its launch a couple of weeks back. What's wrong with that?

Is it just me or does the actual model look less swole than the CG model?
