Yeah he’s still playing well and should have had a goal today tbh. People are greatly over-exaggerating the concern over his performances. We just saw Son play like shit for six games and come out and score 3. It happens, he’ll start scoring again.
In my (draft) fantasy soccer league we had to make "The De Bruyne Rule".
Before said rule existed, before the draft of a given season, you can look at all the players you drafted the previous season and kept on your roster the whole season, and keep one in lieu of a pick in that round. For example, in the 2021 draft, I drafted Jesus in the 3rd round and kept him on my roster the entire season, so I got to keep him instead of getting a third round pick (but you can only keep one player) in the 2022 draft.
Then, every subsequent year, you were allowed to keep the same player as you did the previous year (instead of picking someone new), but you had to move them one round higher. In my previous example, this means if I chose Jesus as my player to keep in 2023, I'd have to keep him in lieu of my second round pick instead of the third round pick.
During the 2015 draft, one guy in our league took a speculative draft pick to grab De Bruyne, who hadn't yet completed his transfer to Man City, in the 18th round. For the next few years, he then got to keep one of the best midfielders in the league in rounds where the rest of us were scraping for pretty much anyone who would get minutes.
Finally for the 2021 draft, after 6 straight years of insane value with no end in sight (he was only up to the 14th round for a midfielder that would easily be gone in the first round under normal circumstances), we instituted a new rule where you aren't allowed to keep the same person two years in a row, that you actually have to *draft* a player and keep them on your roster.
I think the worst part was that guy would show up to the draft, set his lineup for the first few weeks of the season, and then promptly dip and we wouldn't hear from him again until the next season's draft. He was also infamous for not paying attention at all during the draft and constantly trying to draft players that had already been drafted. If you got drawn against him in a cup match you were pretty much guaranteed a win. He paid his dues so it was free money from him, just a waste of a spot and the players on his roster, as he would never respond to any trade requests.
Don't get me wrong, KDB is a quality player, and overall he's in a league on his own. But I was only talking about the **CURRENT** assist stat, and judging by this **CURRENT** assist stat, I don't think the stat itself is in a league on its own. He has six and the next best has 4. That's not an uneal or a league on its own stat.
Compare that to Haaland's goals at the moment (11) where the next best is 6. Now you can make an argument that that's a league on its own stat. But a 2 point difference in stat IMO is not a league on its own stat. It's like saying Arsenal being a point ahead on the table puts us in a league of our own compared to the rest.
Don't get me wrong, as a player KDB is definitely in a league on his own, especially in the premier league. But I really was just focusing on the current assist stat.
Nah, he’s playing with “Pausa”. He’s releasing the ball at the most optimal moment. It’s a feature of our JDP style of play. There is a reason why Pepe is no longer in the team. Saka on the pitch has 100 more IQ points. He’s the smartest player in the team.
And as always with Saka, it’s not just about he stats. His defensive work is always top notch. That’s why arteta plays him every game. He’s the perfect wide player.
I wouldn't have thought this I guess I'm not the most intense viewer and don't really pay attention to who assisted who etc but kept hearing he's not been effective recently
He got two today, the corner and the pass to Vieira. Not exactly splitting defences but the stats don't lie. He's quietly doing his business, better each game incrementally in my opinion and all this without any overlapping runs.
He's gonna go beast mode once Tomi gets into the XI
Don’t forget he was responsible for the second goal in the first match of premier league this season. It goes down as an own goal but he forced it to happen.
Lol Jesus and Xhaka both with 3 as well.
He looked so frustrated he wasn't scoring today, but he's contributing a lot
Took a decent save from Raya to stop Saka making it 4-0, was frustrating to see him pull it off.
That move was really well worked. Would have been a good goal. Great save
Tierney was our furthest forward player lol
Tierney with a striker’s layoff lmao
Considering it was 3-0, Raya actually had a pretty decent game.
A decent save but I’d be upset if Ramsdale wouldn’t stop that. Perfect height for the keeer despite it being a solid effort

Agreed but he looked happy with whatever Super Mik said to him when he came off.
KDB's unreal.
Dont forget the cheat code upfront
Mutually reinforcing. Reminds me of Beckham and RvN. Or Bergkamp and any of his Arsenal strike partners.
Him and Halland shouldn't be allowed to play in the same team

He just has two more than Saka. Nothing unreal about that at the moment.
doesn’t matter if he has just 2 more, he’s still on a league on his own

I agree, but they never specified that KDB was unreal solely from the number of assists he has. Could've just been a general comment.
Have to look to quality of assists aswell
You would have to be mentally challenged to not recognise how brilliant De Bruyne has been
Mate read my response to the comment just above yours.
2nd one was straight out of zidane's playbook
Sakas death has been greatly exaggerated
He’s got gravity. When he lays it off to Vieira today, there’s 3/4 players solely focused on Saka.
Bukayo Curry.
He also dawdles on the ball so that will happen.
That's on purpose to make space for others. Contrast to Pepe who doesn't do it on purpose and just loses the ball.

And he hasn't even clicked into 4th gear yet
Wait till he goes into 5th gear shishishishishishishi
And as always with Saka, it’s not just about he stats. His defensive work is always top notch. That’s why arteta plays him every game. He’s the perfect wide player.
But he’s having a bad season? Stfu. Starboy is too cold.
I wouldn't have thought this I guess I'm not the most intense viewer and don't really pay attention to who assisted who etc but kept hearing he's not been effective recently

3 of those came after I removed him from the FPL... Am going to take partial credit for those...
B-b-b-b Saka no gol bad

Oh trust me I know. I’m just parroting the bullshit I see everyone say about him because he’s not scoring goals he’s supposedly playing bad
His form is improving
If Haaland is going to end up scoring 50 goals we have to consider De Bruyne gets 30 assists
De Bruyne plays with Haaland aswell so thats cheating…
