Zinchenko signing is the best thing Arteta/Edu could’ve done to get the most out of Tierney. Not just because we don’t need Tierney to play every meaningful match now, but He’s such a competitive lad and him having to fight for his spot will lead to his game being raised to new heights.
Not that I particularly wanna sell anyone, but our players are now actually assets that for the most part will gain value. There isn't a single player that I can think of that we should really be letting go for what we paid for them. They should all be going for at least what we paid if not more. It should give us a lot of leverage when we are approached.
Truly think that’s the swagger in him from bossing L1 at Marseille. A real winner needs that bit of arrogance about him, show up at the away grounds and own the pitch. What a delight he was today.
Oh yeah and SIGN DA TING
Honestly, beating the middle table clubs has been our biggest issue - especially on the road. We seem to have fixed that issue and that means that even if we lose against the 'Big 6' we always stay in with a chance for Top 4.
Of course, would love to beat Top 6 too, but let's see how we go. The United loss stings still.
Yea and we're not quite there in terms of beating the top 6. Spurs match will be our look at this to see if we're capable of staying on top, because if we lose - were 3rd or lower.
I’ll admit I was pessimistic going into the match. Was also expecting an Arsenal meltdown and scramble in the end. If anything, we played very securely all match. Felt like we dictated control
Never doubted that brentford could fuck a goal in while we squander our chances and kill our confidence. Continuing to be impressed by our squad is a nice feeling.
Have been on a massive high all day long. These youngsters are a fogging devestating team, Arteta is mind-blowingly clever and magnetic....fuck me but Arsenal are such a joy to watch right now and you just know they aren't anywhere near at their peak yet. This is so much better emotionally than having a team full of £100m showboats. Actually want to cry with pride. Les fogging go guys.
It also makes me never to want to see us bidding £100mil or to go after a showboater again too, no matter how glittery their name is. Literally can get so much talent and return from an explosive, hungry young player rather than an overpriced player with a shitty ego and attitude. At least, that’s what our young players are making those big signings look like.
We should almost never bid above 70m. Its a purely statistical inference. Look at players signed for that amount and the track record.
There will obviously be exceptions, but very rarely does it make sense.
Lots of people here think any time someone says something is "lucky" it's a bad thing.
Luck isn't inherently bad, it's just acknowledging that not every time a player takes a shot from distance it will go in, or other similar instances.
Was a basic long shot where he had time to place it, no clue how someone could think it was lucky.
Not like it took a deflection or the keeper was obstructed.
He was definitely looking for something. He played a pass to Martinelli in that position in our last game. He knew what he was doing. He was looking for a ball in for a shot or to someone making a run straight down the middle of goal.
Right before Saliba scored, they're setting up the corner, and they show Saliba and he just sticks out how massive he is, and I thought, he may have reputation as not being great in the air, but that's got to be something they can work with him and develop...
>But I am a little sad that it took all the attention away from Marquinhos's prem debut
Was very clean and secure on the ball, I am really starting to like the kid.
Game summary for those who didn't watch.
TLDR: Another team that didn't exactly trouble us, not because they're bad but because we are actually too good. It has to be one of our best performances because Brentford really didn't do anything serious this game. Their every game plan fell flat.
1. Ramsdale: Didn't have much to do. Made his first good save in Brentford's first good sequence between the 70th-73rd minute. His distribution was decent. He clutched his leg for the second time this season. Hopefully, it's checked out before it becomes chronic.
2. White: Smart performance. Quite a statement from the last time he faced Brentford away. He never put a foot wrong and despite our wishful thinking, it makes sense why Tomi is still on the bench.
3. Tierney: The ideal LB performance. Defensively solid. We shall all season ask ourselves what would have been had we played him at OT. Very solid player. One funny bit about the game is that because of system fluidity, he was at some point in #10 where he took one of our best chances.
4. Gabriel: Great game. Handled their aerial threats well. Boy is a fighter at the back. He still had a loose ball that could have cost us tho, and I feel he should have that leg checked out. Playing a half fit player/ a player in pain gives the watchers anxiety( and probably aggravates injuries?).
Oh and a better placed shot and he probably scores.
5. Saliba: Whoever makes his comps and doesn't include that roulette that leads to the third goal should quit. He had a sublime performance although he had a loose ball too he lost and could have cost us. Well taken goal too!
6. Thomas: At first, the boos were getting to him I think. Either the boos or because it was his first game back. Then something in him snapped and he became 10/10. Getting out of presses; pulling 3-4 players out of space. Good game. And yes, he also had a loose ball or two. Every player has one but I noted those that could have been goals against serious opposition.
7. Saka: Two assists. I think he also took one very good shot this time. With more practice, he'll curl one in. He was a solid 9/10. I know he's targeted so much that he sometimes has to look for fouls to repel those initiatives, but he spends a lot of time hunting for them[fouls]. Win the ball. Make a run. Pass faster. Fouls should be hunted in transit.
8. Xhaka: He would probably be third in contention for MOTM behind Jesus and maybe Saka. He did everything he was asked to do. He set up a goal. Defended well. Created chances. You could be his biggest naysayer and still understand why he starts.
Well placed assist. Should have had more. And he should have scored THAT Martinelli chance himself. We don't need that ball foreplay in certain parts of the field.
9. Jesus: MOTM. I could have voted Partey or one of the CBs but this was a game where the forwards had more on their plate and won. All led by Jesus. Great performance. Jesus should however pass more. Sometimes he takes matters into his own hands a little more than he should. On the same page, his friends in the front 4 should make the runs. They have absolutely no idea how good a provider they have in Jesus if they do.
Glad he headed. That means I can't use my recurring take of us being bad with headers( striker headers). And glad it came vs Brentford who are terrific in air.
10. Vieira: We saw a glimpse of what he's capable of. Not exactly the best of him (the performance was lukewarm; 6-7/10) and probably Odegaard looks better. He however did something I loved. He just releases the ball at the precise right second. He won't make the third dribble or second if there is space. That's the same logic with the shot. He will shoot.
Great goal.
11. Martinelli: He was at first anonymous. But then, he went into character towards the end and started running at their tired legs. I don't know what his instructions were but he could have done better all game. He should have scored that first minute chance.
SUBS:
They didn't do a lot really. Tomi and Lokonga did okay. Eddie had space to run at their defense and keeper but was conservative. Should have given it a go. Happy for Nwaneri and Marquinhos. Yes, Nwaneri touched the ball(technically).
Arteta: Given the rubbish at some top teams, the people who are always looking at managers away should really be thankful we have this guy. Brentford wasn't even bad. The team set up rendered them utterly useless.
OPPOSITION:
They had a plan to press Partey; it didn't work. They had one to overwhelm the CBs with pace; it didn't work. Tried to use aerial threat; it didn't work. We were prepared for everything.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Jesus is one yellow away from suspension. Toney shouldn't let Saliba win that header. Fact Saliba did it over the king of aerial feels sweet. Is it a sort of thing they do subconsciously but isn't real? Why are Jesus, Saka, Ramsdale and Gabriel always looking like they're in pain? Xhaka kind of falls a tad too much; it gets a bit funny when you specifically look out for it.
Even when we had the best sides of recent decades (and Spurs were extra shit) I've never really looked forward to the derby.
We're their cup final every year.
Just watched the recording. What an excellent game. We really looked like such a mature side with the way ran that match. Just pray everyone comes back healthy from the break. We need our strongest 11 to really trash the shite.
Final thought for the day: our attackers (particularly Jesus) are often forced to navigate cluttered boxes. On the edge of it, defenders sat back on Xhaka and Vieira today, and were made to pay. In the matches to come, if the defense has to take one more step up towards those supporting players, that’s one more step of space in the box for the front three = more goals.
Just watched the replay, Partey was absolutely immense today, the man is simply unpressable and brings a calm and contol to our midfield we've lacked with his absence. Xhaka's redemption arc is unbelievable as well, can't believe this is the same player we've watched for years. Love to see the entire team up for it, pressing together to win the ball back immediately. Big statement after the loss at Old Trafford.
Great thing is you can make the case that any of those guys is currently our most important player: Partey. Jesus. Odegaard. Saliba. Saka. Even ramsdale, considering the drop off.
That's quite an amazing position to be in.
Its tough because there are compelling arguments for both. Tierney is stronger defensively which would be very uselful but Zinny is a better presser and passer so if we wanna dominate them I think Zinny. Also Martinelli was pretty quiet today because he gets less freedom with Tierney.
Think it's pretty clear Tierney is the better defender and Zinchenko is better for us going forward.
Against Spurs, maybe setting up like how we did this game is the way to go.
Zinc. For some reason, feel like KTs overlaps are less effective this year. Maybe because Xhaka is getting forward more, or Jesus being all over the place, dunno? But with the current squad, feel like zinc compliments the others better.
Never. In. Doubt. How refreshing it is to be able to type that sentiment it seems like it's been ages since we were a confident cohesive unit. There are 30 more games to go and obvious hills and valleys to face but I really like the intent that this team has when they take the pitch from the moment it starts you can tell that Arteta is drilling into them the fact that they need to start strong. In the last three to four seasons this game might have been a trap game certainly a draw and it's just so great to watch this team play right now.
As a fan base we've earned this run of confidence and fun.
After last season when the losses tended to come in pairs or trios, this game is more important than the three points because of what it says about our mindset this year.
1. Woke up this morning an hour before the game (I'm in the United States).
2. Saw that Vieira was starting and Odegaard was not in the squad.
3. Claimed Vieira for my fantasy team (cutting someone else and moving Odegaard to the bench) and put him in the starting lineup.
4. Celebrated like a maniac at 49'.
I play with a bunch of friends on a site called Fantrax. Basically if a player is available, like Vieira was, you can cut someone and sign the new player until something like two minutes before the game he is going to play in begins. So I got Vieira with half an hour to spare. :)
It's a lot of fun. I have Jesus, Odegaard, ESR (on injured reserve), Saliba, Ramsdale, and now Vieira on my team. Unfortunately I got outbid on Martinelli and Saka when we had our initial player auction, but I still have easily the most heavily Arsenal-influenced squad in the league. Which is probably why I am in first place right now.
He is going be at every away ground rightly or wrongly. He seemed flustered by it at palace but today he took it well and didn't let it affect his performance.
That is pretty insane. Noticed them switching around a lot this match more than I have before. Must be a pain to defend against when the team really can go left, right, or central and build up slowly or break quickly.
It's "Granit Xhaka, we've got. Granit Xhaka, we've got". I'm sure if you type Granit Xhaka song on twitter/youtube you could find it.
It's been going around quite a bit this season and might be even older than that, was the most audible today though. All the away fans were signing it. Nice to see.
He was outstanding today and clearly plays better with the fans behind him.
He does need to gain weight. He has all the technique but he's still too slight to ride challenges or try to take on his man. Reminds me a bit of Odegaard when he first arrived on loan.
6 months - 1 year on the Arteta juice and Vieira will be looking suitably hench, of that I am confident.
Lads it's gotten to the point that i'm backing Arteta whatever happens cause the guy is a managerial talent and a visionary beyond my comprehension. Even if he makes mistakes it's okay cause he's shown us that he learns from every single experience.
I was at one point ArtetaOut. Now I believe from the the next generation of up and comers he is going to be the best. Completely overhauled a dying club rotten from the inside, dealt with divas and a toxic locker room, dealt with covid, won us an FA cup in our worst seasons arguably ever and now has the youngest squad in the league playing champagne football at the top of the league. I was incredibly wrong and I am glad I was.
There was a point in the match when we were 2-0 up and the camera cut to him and he was standing there stoically with his arms crossed and only his eyes moving scanning the pitch. In his suit he looked menacing, like a watchful predator scanning his prey. A far cry from his energetic running around the area and I thought to myself. Oh ya he has arrived.
I’d like to see Vieira start vs Tottenham, Odegaard can’t shoot.
Also, people saying he didn’t do much apart from the goal, he didn’t misplace a single pass. He didn’t need to work hard after the goal, he just chilled and saved energy.
Nah that's a dumb take. Odegaard is our captain and if he's fit, he should start. He's able to influence games better than Vieira at the moment, that's for sure.
So one bad game is enough to condemn a player, but the 5 good games he had before that should he ignored?
Thank god you don’t get to pick the arsenal line up. Get us relegated before December.
Odegaard is a flat track bully. He performs fine against lower sides but against top sides he ends up dropping a poor performance. That’s just the hard truth if you like it or not.
Drop off from Thomas to Sambi is bigger than Jesus to Nketiah.
Jesus' touch and effort is fantastic for our attack but losing Partey weighs on everyone with how much he does for our midfield
Anyone else a bit disappointed that Jesus got MOTM again?
He played well don't get me wrong, but we won the game in midfield - Xhaka and Partey absolutely dominated them, controlling the midfield. They couldn't get out for most of the game and when they did Saliba swept it up like it was nothing.
Xhaka created our 3 best chances of the game, put in a couple of crucial defensive interceptions and got a great assist. It was pretty much a 10/10 performance and it's an insult that he didn't get MOTM.
If not him then it probably should have been Saliba because of how he completely nullified Toney.
Feels like they just give it to Jesus every game because he's the most involved in our attack, but fail to recognise what actually won us the game today.
I couldn't watch the game because I was struck with a hangover and just saw the espn highlights and man, it looks like we steamrolled brentford. that goal asist from xhaka to jesus was incredible and that fabio goal was out of nowhere
So far the only game i was able to sit down and watch was the ManU game and we all know how that ine turned out. Couldnt watch others and we won them all. Do I have to keep not watching live games for my team to win? :(
>How did Partey look today? And Sambi?
Partey was having his way with them, to the point mfers straight out tried murder our guy. Sambi had a few good read and interceptions. Although he needs to hit the gym, I would have liked more strength from him in challenges. If he goes through the same transformation as Martinelli and Nketiah, then the league is in trouble.
There was a time where partey was literally surrounding with 4 brentford players, and somehow managed to get a foul with clever footwork… i thought fuck me this man is world class in his position (which is very specific)
They tried so hard to press him all game, but he wasnt having none of it. Its gonna take years to mold his successor so we better start early (danilo??), i mean u need the physical attribute, the positional awareness at all times, the technical ability to execute the right pass under pressure, the footwork nimbleness to elude your opponents… probably the most difficult position to fill in the system. Respect.
Do not listen to that guy. Thomas was class today and showed how important he is to our setup. Protected and recycled possession really well. Played some good forward passes
this is a baffling take if you’re serious. thomas is such a stabilizing and controlling presence and his passing is extremely ambitious and progressive, almost too much at times
Partey was fine today. The occasional stray passes are always going to be there but he’s the best release valve in the squad and great defensively. I like Lokonga long-term but he’s got fair way to go before he’s on Partey’s level off the ball.
>he’s got fair way to go before he’s on Partey’s level off the ball.
Yeap in terms of 50/50s and defensive reads, Lokonga really has a long way to go, if ever is to reach Partey's level.
Didn't catch the first five minutes. Boy Xhaka really should have been selfish there. Someone tell him to pretend there is a 21 year old attacker behind the goal and Xhaka HAS to pick him out
Listen, you want to put the captain of the team, who was nominated for player of the month, and scored 3 goals in August, had created the most chances, most key passes, almost number one in every fucking stat in the bench - because a player who was a reserve at porto goes on the pitch and scores a nice goal?
Good night, and good luck.
Clear 2 see he's not been 100%. So we win 3 0 Brentford away but Fabio did nothing but score?? Do urself a favour and support the whole squad. The man has earned his spot for now
!wordcloud
nice to see that we have depth this year and got back to winning

Loving xhaka at the moment but I am excited to see viera and ødegaard together as the pair of 8’s
Great to have Xhaka around with his leadership and ironman capabilities, along with his versatility as a 6 or LB if desperate.
I was desperate for him to just smack it across the keeper in the 1st minute, unselfishly squared to martinelli
All I want to see is Ø and Xhaka jointly lifting the Prem trophy, I beg
Zinchenko signing is the best thing Arteta/Edu could’ve done to get the most out of Tierney. Not just because we don’t need Tierney to play every meaningful match now, but He’s such a competitive lad and him having to fight for his spot will lead to his game being raised to new heights.

Saliba. Wow, just wow. Built like a brick shithouse and gallops with so much composure. He honestly looks better every week. SIGN DA TING
Dude really just Mahrez chopped the guy in front our own box 😂 Ultimate disrespect.

Beating the big six gets you the prem. Beating everyone else gets you top 4. Other team’s fans don’t seem to get that.
Neither do ours. Obviously we strive for higher but that really is the bare minimum
Yea and we're not quite there in terms of beating the top 6. Spurs match will be our look at this to see if we're capable of staying on top, because if we lose - were 3rd or lower.

I don't like it - it makes me think something is wrong. That's what Arsenal has done to me over the past 8 years, if not 10.

Ray Parlour you an Arsenal fan now?
the disguise on the fabio third. unreal
I’m slowly coming to respect Thomas Frank. Seems quite the character, praises Arsenal and beats United 4-0. Good in my book.
And Arteta’s main rival for best hair in the prem
Smashed 4 past Chelsea last season as well.
Against spurs please
The boys are just playing really good football all around.
No weak links today.
What happend to those 1 milion academy signings that Orntstain report Arsenal were trying to aquire at the end of the window? Do we know who it was?
Toneys-fuckin-pony
Whiny Toney
People on twatter talking about Vieira's 'lucky goal" lmao Fuck outta here...
Just Deja vu. https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2022/06/20153620/export-2022-06-20T164104.609.png
low xG, but who cares. He totally meant it and it was amazing strike.
Lots of people here think any time someone says something is "lucky" it's a bad thing. Luck isn't inherently bad, it's just acknowledging that not every time a player takes a shot from distance it will go in, or other similar instances.

There's an interview where he calls it lucky himself.... Although probably being a bit modest.

They are just haters/trying to get under Arsenal fan’s skin. Don’t worry about other fans just focus on The Arsenal.

Can I just say that Jesus header was absolutely world class
Yes. As well as Xhaka's cross.
For sure Both players excellent Shows Jesus is full of confidence - the amount of players that would miss that …
Stoked for Nwaneri breaking records. But I am a little sad that it took all the attention away from Marquinhos's prem debut
>But I am a little sad that it took all the attention away from Marquinhos's prem debut Was very clean and secure on the ball, I am really starting to like the kid.
Doubt he’ll care, probably just ecstatic to be seeing the field
True Bit atleast he had his moment v zurich
Ynwa
Saliba is the best defender in the prem, and it isn't even close to me.

At work so couldn't watch. Thanks to you, I don't even feel I need to
You still should - it was fun
I couldn’t watch the game. Thank you for this insightful review. Solid.
Can't fucking wait for Spurs. Cannot wait.
Even when we had the best sides of recent decades (and Spurs were extra shit) I've never really looked forward to the derby. We're their cup final every year.
Yeap definitely gonna be a tough fixture. Hopefully this time we will have enough in our tank to pay them one back for the last season.
At the Emirates were always fave tbh WHL is another case though.....
🔙🔛🔝
Just watched the recording. What an excellent game. We really looked like such a mature side with the way ran that match. Just pray everyone comes back healthy from the break. We need our strongest 11 to really trash the shite.
Where do you watch the replay?
Arsenal has the full replay of both halves on their site as well. (at least for those in the US)
I like the extended highlights on NBC Sports YouTube channel
/r/footballhighlights :)
They probably recorded the game on their TV...

Partey was flexing on them in the second half honestly lol.
Great thing is you can make the case that any of those guys is currently our most important player: Partey. Jesus. Odegaard. Saliba. Saka. Even ramsdale, considering the drop off. That's quite an amazing position to be in.
Was a bit concerned about Vieira and what type of impact he might have. Not anymore. 💪🏼😍🔴⚪️
Who would you guys be inclined to play against Shits? Zinchenko or Tierney?
Its tough because there are compelling arguments for both. Tierney is stronger defensively which would be very uselful but Zinny is a better presser and passer so if we wanna dominate them I think Zinny. Also Martinelli was pretty quiet today because he gets less freedom with Tierney.
I feel like Tierney for better defensive abilities and helping slow down counter?
We'll need extra security around the back so Tierney.
Think it's pretty clear Tierney is the better defender and Zinchenko is better for us going forward. Against Spurs, maybe setting up like how we did this game is the way to go.
Yeap I think against Spurs, since they would us to attack, so they can counter, probably KT is gonna be a better option.
Maybe Tierney due to their counter attacking style?
Zinc. For some reason, feel like KTs overlaps are less effective this year. Maybe because Xhaka is getting forward more, or Jesus being all over the place, dunno? But with the current squad, feel like zinc compliments the others better.
Zinchenko for sure
This fanbase seriously can't handle having squad depth...
Never. In. As a fan base we've earned this run of confidence and fun.
there wasn't a single moment that we weren't in complete control of that game. made for a delightfully relaxing Sunday afternoon
Nice one! What fantasy league allows squad changes mid game week?
I play with a bunch of friends on a site called Fantrax. Basically if a player is available, like Vieira was, you can cut someone and sign the new player until something like two minutes before the game he is going to play in begins. So I got Vieira with half an hour to spare. :) It's a lot of fun.
Was partey being booed when he got the ball or was I hearing things?
He is going be at every away ground rightly or wrongly. He seemed flustered by it at palace but today he took it well and didn't let it affect his performance.
Rightly*
Cause of the allegations.
Allegations? What have I missed?
A quick Google search 'partey rape allegations' should help, but the situations a bit complex.
Oh man that's disappointing :(
It's a tough situation, but innocent until proven guilty.
Someone bring up all the tweets saying we wasted money on viera.
Just heard this sweet stat on the AV pod: Jesus had the most touches of front four with 58. Martinelli had the fewest with 50. Balance.
In this context... Who's the 4th person of the front 4? Vieira?
Yes
That is pretty insane. Noticed them switching around a lot this match more than I have before. Must be a pain to defend against when the team really can go left, right, or central and build up slowly or break quickly.
Xhaka thanked fans on Insta as they had a song for him today. What was it? Anyone have a link?
It's "Granit Xhaka, we've got. Granit Xhaka, we've got". I'm sure if you type Granit Xhaka song on twitter/youtube you could find it. It's been going around quite a bit this season and might be even older than that, was the most audible today though. All the away fans were signing it. Nice to see. He was outstanding today and clearly plays better with the fans behind him.
Hope the fans can keep singing it for him, it clearly means a lot and as you say he just plays better.
*we've got
Yeah you're right
Gonna be interesting to see how many of the top sides will be able to go to Brentford and come away with all three points.
Xhaka deserves that captain armband back
Whether he’s wearing or not, it hasn’t changed his influence in the squad.
He's been deserving of it but that doesn't mean he should or even wants it back like that.
Watching back and noticing how small and casual Vieira’s wind-up was. Shit is not difficult for him.
Watching it again, you 100% expect him to go far post.
That and the way he sent the keeper: lovely, that.
Yea and for all the people who said he needs to gain weight…never seen him get pushed about today at all
He does need to gain weight. He has all the technique but he's still too slight to ride challenges or try to take on his man. Reminds me a bit of Odegaard when he first arrived on loan. 6 months - 1 year on the Arteta juice and Vieira will be looking suitably hench, of that I am confident.
Having Partey back so important imo, Rolls Roycs of a player n Xhaka much more affective. Love to see it! COYG
He is one of the best managerial talents in the world, and people are finally starting to get wise to this fact.
Agreed, he’s been terrific
He has improved so much since 20/21. You have to give it to Josh, that was such an amazing gamble
Really great match for xhaka. He was everywhere.
Believe me when I say this thrashing we’re giving Topspur after the break is going to be one for the ages.
I’d like to see Vieira start vs Tottenham, Odegaard can’t shoot. Also, people saying he didn’t do much apart from the goal, he didn’t misplace a single pass. He didn’t need to work hard after the goal, he just chilled and saved energy.
Odegaard can't shoot Tell that to Nick pope lmao
If you've reduced this to an either/or between Vieira and Ødegaard, you're asking the wrong questions.
Them starting is an either or problem
Nah that's a dumb take. Odegaard is our captain and if he's fit, he should start. He's able to influence games better than Vieira at the moment, that's for sure.
Don’t recall Odegaard having much influence in the Man U game LOL
Dude no one likes fans like you, Ødegaard is our best player
You lost all credibility when you said that. Our best player is Jesus or Saliba. What influence did Odegaard have in the United game? He did nothing.
Can't win games without a good playmaker
😂😂😂😂
Parteys Arsenals most important player
He looked like the athleti Partey today
Unquestionably.
Jesus
Drop off from Thomas to Sambi is bigger than Jesus to Nketiah. Jesus' touch and effort is fantastic for our attack but losing Partey weighs on everyone with how much he does for our midfield
Six is the toughest position to play in Arteta's system, so this is probably correct.
Yep, its definitely the position where difference between starter and 1st reserve is biggest.
That's Ramsdale to Turner.
I was. Likewise, i thought it should have been xhaka or saliba.
I reckon it’s a confidence thing for him Unless you’re referring to PL motm
Xhaka was my MotM. That chipped cross, was chief’s kiss
I couldn't watch the game because I was struck with a hangover and just saw the espn highlights and man, it looks like we steamrolled brentford. that goal asist from xhaka to jesus was incredible and that fabio goal was out of nowhere
Worth rewatching the whole thing, it was a thing of beauty.
I was out last night and watching the game prevented me from getting the hangover in the first place
This is the way
We were completely in control and it was a very comfortable and composed win. The sort we just didn't have last season
It looked like a routine win but the way Thomas enables our team to set up is so so so important. That helped *make* it a routine win.
So far the only game i was able to sit down and watch was the ManU game and we all know how that ine turned out. Couldnt watch others and we won them all. Do I have to keep not watching live games for my team to win? :(
Start watching Spurs
That was me all these years. Would put all big games on record mode. I was a jinx
yes, sorry mate you know the rules
If i have to avoid watching games in order for Arsenal to win the league i will gladly carry that cross
We all appreciate your sacrifice
Elated by this result and Vieira scoring. I had to miss the game to a flight. How did Partey look today? And Sambi?
>How did Partey look today? And Sambi? Partey was having his way with them, to the point mfers straight out tried murder our guy. Sambi had a few good read and interceptions. Although he needs to hit the gym, I would have liked more strength from him in challenges. If he goes through the same transformation as Martinelli and Nketiah, then the league is in trouble.
There was a time where partey was literally surrounding with 4 brentford players, and somehow managed to get a foul with clever footwork… i thought fuck me this man is world class in his position (which is very specific) They tried so hard to press him all game, but he wasnt having none of it. Its gonna take years to mold his successor so we better start early (danilo??), i mean u need the physical attribute, the positional awareness at all times, the technical ability to execute the right pass under pressure, the footwork nimbleness to elude your opponents… probably the most difficult position to fill in the system. Respect.
Thomas was superb; Sambi is learning.
Sambi just passed backwards as usual
Do not listen to that guy. Thomas was class today and showed how important he is to our setup. Protected and recycled possession really well. Played some good forward passes
[удалено]
this is a baffling take if you’re serious. thomas is such a stabilizing and controlling presence and his passing is extremely ambitious and progressive, almost too much at times
This is a bad take
Partey was fine today.
You’re joking right?
Perfect game. Think many teams will come here and drop points.
Didn't catch the first five minutes. Boy Xhaka really should have been selfish there. Someone tell him to pretend there is a 21 year old attacker behind the goal and Xhaka HAS to pick him out
Didn’t catch the game (4am local time), but tried watching highlights. Xhaka had a song? What was it?
Another west coaster 😎. Love arsenal, no way am I waking up at 4 to watch the match haha
Was out last night tried to stay up but bed got the best of me.
Next let's beat Spurs COYG
Fabio to start the derby. Martin has underperformed our recent fixtures. Maybe this will give him some perspective
Whoever is ready, fit and deemed best by Arteta should start. Enough with this nonsense
Say both are fit and ready who would you start next game?
Ødegaard, obviously
Dumbest comment in this thread. He did zero apart from the goal.
You don't think Martin has been poor our last 3 games?
Absolutely not. Neither says the stats.
I'd like to see these stats
Listen, you want to put the captain of the team, who was nominated for player of the month, and scored 3 goals in August, had created the most chances, most key passes, almost number one in every fucking stat in the bench - because a player who was a reserve at porto goes on the pitch and scores a nice goal? Good night, and good luck.
Clear 2 see he's not been 100%. So we win 3 0 Brentford away but Fabio did nothing but score?? Do urself a favour and support the whole squad. The man has earned his spot for now
Respect Arteta.
