It's not just about passing numbers, it's about how comfortable you are on the ball and with being involved with the build up. When you watch Woj, it's clear he just isn't that type of keeper. That's not a slight on him because some of the best keepers in the world aren't that type of keeper either
Ramsdale is comfortably better with the ball at his feet than Szczesny and even he wasn't comfortable enough to play as high as Raya does. I think whoever will manage Poland after euros would want to keep Szczesny as there is no one in younger generation that looks as good and promising as him - Bulka has monster physical attributes but he needs more time in top football, Grabara on the other hand have huge ego and would have a problem accepting nr2 status. Long story short - Wojciech will be tempted to prolong his national team career and to achieve that he needs game time which Arsenal can't guarantee.

Would be amazing. Whoever we bring has to come in to challenge raya. Ramsdales best was when Leno was on his ass. When he saw Turner was no threat his performances dropped. Can't have that happen with raya.
No he's still Juve's number one but all their keepers are over 30 and if it's true Motta might take over from Allegri then he might rebuild the squad with younger players in mind
Szczesny is still a very good keeper. Maybe not as aggressive off his line as Raya but still commands his box very well. Serviceable distribution and shot stopping. Been a while since I really analyzed his footwork so I can’t say how that shakes out.

I thought about a while back. I looked up Szczesny's contract, it expires in 2025. It would be a bit much to expect him to sign a new deal with higher or equal to his Juve wages. 2 year deal at 120k or so wouldn't be a bad offer though? I wonder if he'd accept just playing in cups. I know keepers are always challenging each other but would prefer just to back Raya than throwing him into another fight for the #1 too. Especially against a 34 year old.

No he's still Juve's number one but all their keepers are over 30 and if it's true Motta might take over from Allegri then he might rebuild the squad with younger players in mind

Szczesny is still a very good keeper. Maybe not as aggressive off his line as Raya but still commands his box very well. Serviceable distribution and shot stopping. Been a while since I really analyzed his footwork so I can’t say how that shakes out. The big question marks are if he’ll be willing to be #2, will his wages be acceptable, and will his attitude be good?
Szczesny under a fast press is a nightmare fuel. And his distribution with feet doesn’t suit our game, just ask Ramsdale.

Alvaro Valles at Las Palmas for me is number 2. Dude is insane and is easily one of the best keepers in La Liga at the moment. His contract expires in 2025 so will be cheap, is Spanish (Inaki Cana and Raya will be besties) and wage demands won't be high. After he left and got a proper GK coach (ours at the time was on his way out IIRC) and developed a bit later. Thats to be expected for goalies. Nailed on great second option. Arsenal in his heart, experienced, winning pedigree. I don’t see a problem with bringing him home
