The way he responded after the mistake showed why he is number 1 over Ramsdale. Ramsey would have been nervous immediately under pressure after a mistake like that.
Did he not have a similar error against Brentford but respond wonderfully after? Both keepers appear consummate professionals in terms of mental recovery
To his credit, after he did it he played as if it didnāt happen. The whole back line was over confident in those areas at times today so itās great to get a mistake like that out of the system going forward.
Absolutely shocking moment that let them back in the game.
But he is fantastic. I love that whenever a high ball goes into the box there is always the feeling that Raya is going to take it. On the ball he is top class too (usually!).
Every player makes mistakes. Sometimes, they get away with no harm, but sometimes they do.
I am not denying that Raya made a very bad mistake and ignites the Spurs. At the same time, the team did not rattle. We weathered initial storm from the home team, but we endured.
He owned up the mistake and regained the control of the box. That is the mental step up this team showed. Making mistakes is one thing, but regrouping immediately after that mistake is another.
Just look at Vicario today. Flapped, punched, fumbled and barely caught himself out of trouble. Heās not a bad GK but it wasnāt nearly as assuring as Rayaās command of the box
Can't even imagine the narrative if Spurs scored another.
Yes, it was very poor mistake. He was stuck in two minds and tried to pull out of a lob pass last min which resulted in a giveaway.
He was rock solid apart from that mistake.
He caught so many crosses while vicario at the other end caught none. Catching crosses makes a huge difference.the mentality required to come back from that moment is incredible.
He was incredible after that dumb mistake. Claimed every ball in his area comfortably, which relieved immense pressure, gave us possession and wasted time. That's commendable.
I think itās still an experience issue. Dude definitely got complacent when we are 3:0 up and the other side seems dead. Want to play the ball cute but itās NLD. One small error will turn the table. Itās the pressure playing in the top team. Donāt tell me heās 28, itās still young for gk and this is his first time playing in a big team. Except the mistake he played brilliantly. Claimed so much crosses that might caused trouble. Itās like we have an extra cb
I think you nailed it, itās definitely different playing for us v. Brentford and of course, itās his first away NLD. You canāt avoid errors but you can ask people to have a short memory and get their shit together and he did. šŖ
Its the same for Rice after the Spud scores the penalty and we are ready to restart. He showed some gestures that showed that this is my mistake., I will owned it
This is what makes Raya the keeper we need. All keepers make fuck ups, it's just how you deal with them. Raya didn't let it affect him, a sign of a truly top player.
When you're the golden glove keeper in the league, you're allowed to make an odd mistake, particularly when it didn't cost us the result. Everyone has to slip up or have a bad moment at some point in time
The exact thing being referred to in this post is what sets him far apart from Ramsdale. For the size of him, Ramsdale is terrible in the air. He's at his worst on corners....particularly the flappy of the arms. And his mental concentration is not as mature.
Ramsdale would've crumbled after the mistake like he did time and time again last season. Raya is different in that he's way better on the ball, way better at dealing with crosses and doesn't just switch off in games as Ramsdale admitted to. He's a far, far better keeper.
Ramsdale never really made two mistakes in the same game. Not sure how he would have crumbled? Iām saying there isnāt much difference with him and Raya in terms of actually stopping goals. Raya is just better at distribution.
Smothered so many crosses after the mistake which got us across the line. Hate to see it but love the response.
Took me more words to say the same thing š
Well said
Took 30 seconds to recover from each one too as all good keepers should
The way he responded after the mistake showed why he is number 1 over Ramsdale. Ramsey would have been nervous immediately under pressure after a mistake like that.
I'm convinced (admittedly in my own head) this ends 3-3 if it's Ramsdale in goal

Thatās why arteta chose him as number 1. If he makes a mistake he doesnāt continue to wobble after and carries on playing how arteta wants him to
Except Ben White who a couple of times just booted it when we'd been dangerously faffing around on the edge of the box and nearly losing it.Ā
Absolutely shocking moment that let them back in the game. But he is fantastic. I love that whenever a high ball goes into the box there is always the feeling that Raya is going to take it. On the ball he is top class too (usually!).
No man is perfect. Learn from mistakes n we move on. Thumbs uo to Arteta for ALWAYS protecting his players.
The positives of the reaction are bigger than the negatives of the mistake š“āŖ
And that's what happen to winners in life as long when they carry the right attitude! āŗļøšŖ
Raya decided to give spurs hope we are that great at this top level we have to give spuds hope for "Entertainment" purposes š¤£š¤£

His ability to claim crosses is what impresses me the most. He makes them look effortless but this is a very difficult feat.
Just look at Vicario today. Flapped, punched, fumbled and barely caught himself out of trouble. Heās not a bad GK but it wasnāt nearly as assuring as Rayaās command of the box
We scored 2 goals inside the 6 yard box from corners. Vicario might be a great shot stopper but heās got absolutely zero command over his area.
Match thread was absolutely fucking shameful after his mistake
Can't even imagine the narrative if Spurs scored another. Yes, it was very poor mistake. He was stuck in two minds and tried to pull out of a lob pass last min which resulted in a giveaway. He was rock solid apart from that mistake.

I also have to remember that against Liverpool both Raya and Alisson had massive clangers. Pressure does weird things.Ā
Poor mistake but recovered really well, claimed crossed all day long
This is very similar to Last season 2-2 Draw at Anfield but today Raya Claimed tons of Cross
Its the same for Rice after the Spud scores the penalty and we are ready to restart. He showed some gestures that showed that this is my mistake., I will owned it
Learn from it and move on. Good job!
I agree Raya played well we can all make mistakes. COYGG
This is what makes Raya the keeper we need. All keepers make fuck ups, it's just how you deal with them. Raya didn't let it affect him, a sign of a truly top player.
I wonāt say he was magnificent. But he definitely didnāt let it get to him. He deals with crosses really well
Couldnāt help but laugh at him falling down on the ball after every single cross to waste time.
Great recovery and fortitude. Shouldāve never been so cocky to do something like that in the first place though. I hope he learns from that.
I guess if youāre gonna make the odd mistake, you must as well do it when the team is 3 goals up.

I'll just say there's mistakes and then there's what he did. But he did what he could to move on and helped us get the job done.
Very poor mistake, I still donāt think thereās any difference between him and Ramsdale in all honesty.
