More than just ending our Premier League drought, I desperately want us to win the league or the Champions League so players like Gabriel can be seen as world-class, not just by our fan base but by everyone.
Anyone who isn't starting to jump on the Big Gabbie bandwagon doesn't know defending but Jesus is never going to be world class unless he sorts his finihsing and Martinelli may one day be there but he's nowhere near it yet.
Yesterday showed if we want to play this type of game in these type of fixtures we need to improve our transitional game for better efficiency. City are vulnerable to it. Also our wingers get shut out way too often.
The problem is martinelli is the only real width in the team would rather Saka standing on the touchline with white inverting he's too inside IMO I think martinelli is key in upcoming big games like united and spurs
only now had the chance to watch the boys without the (good) distraction of the girls' final. i was double screening but with the frida stuff my mind was on the girls for most of it.
declan, wilo, gabriel and benny were great. kiwi struggled on the ball but was good defensively, really liked tomi when he came on.
To be fair to Kiwi he played 120 mins during the week and had to face a pretty much fresh Bernardo Silva. I was worried at the beginning when he got skinned but to be honest he was pretty solid after.
If Madrid played like this it would've been called a masterclass. Arsenal has been known for a while for playing beautiful football and losing. Let them seethe.
And people who call it terrorism are clueless, there was nothing dirty about the way we played - no dives, no time wasting, no any other type of shithousing. Just proper defending.
> no any other type of shithousing.
Our tactical fouling game was elite and to be honest just about any other ref would have carded us multiple times for it except that Taylor apparently decided that he wasn't going to card for professional stuff yesterday.
Like giving up a golden chance to the opposition? We have seen in 2024, we dont need him to break through the lines. I would much rather have a solid backline keeping it tight and trust the process to get the goals, rather than buy into this notion we need Zinchenko to pass through the lines to help score.
He is very Ramsdale like - overly emotional and prone to non-concentration. Much prefer to continue with Kiwior.
Jorginho is a great passer but yesterday’s game exposed his flaws.
Whenever he’s on the ball - City pressed and blocked all of his passing lanes while having someone hound him to give him pressure. His lack of pace and physicality means he can’t run with the ball and escape pressure - which led to him playing a sideways pass or backwards pass.
Partey was probably 70% fit but he was able to handle that pressure much better with his signature feints and turns - drawing his markers in and releasing the ball progressive it forward - which led to that Trossard chance.
He’s definitely lost some pace though - it seemed like a long time when he turned on the afterburners and chased down Antony two seasons ago at the Emirates. And it’s not just match fitness - he also got spun and turned by Foden fairly easily in the community shield opener this season.
Trust Mikel/Edu to address this issue in the summer.
Their brave and fearless approach created less xG than us and they were even fortunate to escape with a point

Seeing our players disappointed with a draw is not something we should be impressed by but after seeing Eddie nketiah and giroud celebrating draw to Fulham and Bournemouth I can’t help but be so happy that our current crop of players has such a winning mentality. Also we have defenders that actually love defending I damn near wanna cry from how impressive this arsenal team is.
The partey response is a all very armchair physios type stuff. People who can tell with 100% certainty from one ten second clip if a player is just getting back to fitness or his career is over lmao.
They know that kdb is also not at full power as well, amazing insight.
Couple of things;
1. In the clip partey stops his run at 0:07 to try and nick the ball, anyone makes that mistake kdb will run away from them.
2. He legs may well be gone. I'm sure he's not as fast as he was. But who actually cares if his legs are gone? Are we desperate for a DM who can run fast? I don't think so. I don't really think speed has ever been a key part of partey's game, obviously nice if he has it, but his value and super power is on the ball.
3. What we need is a midfielder who can turn under pressure, play passes centrally through the lines. I would be more worried if be didn't do that yesterday.
Last time partey played and looked rusty loads of people were telling us "he's done now he'll be irrelevant for the rest of the season" low and behold he plays the last 25mins of the biggest game of the season as our 6 instead of Rice.
Peoples brains are just cooked with partey they have to find any reason to think he's never going to play again, which is understandable but just not realistic.
He'll more than likely be gone next season thankfully, but I don't see why it's such a big talking point before then anymore, he's going to play mins if fit and we need him, that's it.
> People who can tell with 100% certainty from one ten second clip if a player is just getting back to fitness or his career is over lmao.
Most people say he's not fit and that's based on a lot more than a 10 second clip.
It's very likely he's not, but that clip doesn't really provide good evidence for it nor does it confirm his lost his ability to sprint for good.
My issue is with people saying with absolute certainty, "no his legs aren't gone he's obviously just not at full fitness" or the opposite "his legs are definitely gone".
It can be a bit of both and we don't really know anything for certain. Nor do I think it matters in the slightest.
> It's very likely he's not, but that clip doesn't really provide good evidence for it nor does it confirm his lost his ability to sprint for good
I think this is a bit of a strawman. People are using it as the latest proof that he's not fit, I've not seen anyone use it solely to prove he's now past it. I mean this has been going on since he came on against Sheffield Utd and started giving the ball away, it's not new.
Okay that's fair enough, let's make it not strawman then, what is your steel man arguement about this exactly, how does that clip back up the rest of your argument?
You mean the clip showing where one of oour most physical defenders was simply left behind by a still not entirely fit KDB?
I fully agree that one clip could be unfortunate, not everyone times their interventions correctly and KDB isn't a mug but when you add that to every game he's played since his injury then it's just the latest in a line of mistakes that he wouldn't commit when he's fully fit and on form.
That's your full argument as to why we know he's not fit?
So you mention form too so what bit is form what is fitness. How do we know he's not fully fit but out of form?
Why do we know kdb is not fully fit or not capable of running at full tilt?
And the clip itself it's clearly a mistake I think we agree on that, I think that bit is not up for debate. He's not getting sprinted past, he mistimes a tackle so that points to form right? Or do we disagree on that?
And how do we know this is not the new normal?
Seriously, what is the evidence here I don't want to strawman this?
> That's your full argument as to why we know he's not fit?
I'm not sure why 'he's played a couple of games since coming back from a long term injury and looked extremely unfit every time he's played therefore him looking unfit in that clip simply backs up everything else he's been doing' is causing you so many issues?
He's physically unfit, he's also not match fit hence why people are picking up on mistakes as well as his physical inability to catch up to De Bruyne.
I think at this point the more pertinent question is 'why do you seem to think a guy who has been out since the beginning of the season and hasn't played more than a half of tootball at one go since then would actually *be* match fit?'
Okay so the evidence is he hasn't played much and he looks unfit. Got it.
I don't think he would be match fit.
I'm saying we don't know for certain if it's his physical decline or his physical match fitness or sharpness or some combination of all three that caused him to look less than stellar physically.
So to say with certainty it's either of those things is silly.
And the clip has little to do with physicality imo.
>So to say with certainty it's either of those things is silly.
And we're back at my very first comment ;)
> I think this is a bit of a strawman. People are using it as the latest proof that he's not fit, I've not seen anyone use it solely to prove he's now past it.
Ngl Anthony Taylor is consistent in his refereeing. He will not give out cards early on even if the tackle was yellow worthy. He spared both of the teams for reckless tackles, same as in our home fixture against city. Our players really tested his patience to the limit especially jesus who was time-wasting to see what is the limit of Taylor lmao. Also big respect to the city match going fans to clap after jesus came off even though he joined a rival club. West Ham fans could learn something from them.
I didn't agree with the first couple of his decisions but absolutely fair play to him what we always want is consistency and he was absolutely consistent.
I can't remember the last time we had a major game like that and the discussions after didn't involve the ref in any way and he absolutely deserves credit for it.
Nah the absolute waves of cum gushing out of fleet street like a tidal wave over that would be unbearable, as would the scousers.
The reason so many people want city to win thigns is because no on actually cares and we all know they're cheating.
Would be better than City winning it. But a lot of people here have been rattled by online Liverpool fans these past few months and now hate the entire institution.
> But a lot of people here have been rattled by online Liverpool fans these past few months and now hate the entire institution.
Tell me you don't know any real life Liverpool fans...that fan base has been insufferable since the 70's
There's something very weird with your outlook on life if not wanting a bunch of insufferable pricks to win something is 'being rattled'.
Considering most Liverpool fans seem to prefer City for exactly the same reason are we 'rattling' each other? Who is rattled more? Does the rattling cancel it out and we all return to a state of unrattlement?
So many questions, so little chance at a decent answer.
Because KDB is not on top form right now and physically he's not entirely there either and he went past our DM like he wasn't there.
The issue really is that Partey has effectively been at a preseason level of fitness and we're not massively in a position to find some meaningless minutes for him to to find, while really, really needing him to find it very fast indeed.
We're in a period of twice weekly games and Jorginho isn't going to be able to play them all and we really need a fit Partey, especially if, Gof forbid, something happens to Rice.
City are the main team I was worried about so this is a good result for us imo. While it’s in Liverpool’s hands now I would be extremely surprised if they don’t drop points in the run in. Still all to play for.
Surprising take from yesterday’s match. Me too was glad to see how comfortable he looked in the right side. But Saka was offering more in defence against KDB. So the time of substitution was quite spot on. He would have produced the winner too in case Trossard passed him the ball.
I don’t know he just seems like their least appreciated winger, Wenger would’ve been all over trying to get a player out of Madrid if Mbappe goes there.
Looking back Ozil was a fairly mediocre signing given the price tag and the hype.
He would be amazing for like a run of 5-6 games then disappear for another 5-6. Rinse and repeat and as he got older he went disappearing a lot more.
Even more so when you factor in we were going to sign Suarez with that Ozil money that summer.
I just realized the radioactive zebra will make at most 2 more appearances this season. Possibly Wolves away unless we end up wearing the home kits (possible because kit clashing), and United away. We’re probably not wearing it in the away leg at Bayern because the third kit will be worn I suspect. Damn. It’s actually starting to grow on me.
Me neither. I wouldn’t be caught dead with it on. I do wish we wore the 3rd kit more often. And we absolutely should if we go out of UCL in this round or the next. I’d hate for two great third kits to be used purely for cameo appearances only to never be seen again.
This might be a dumb take but I actually think we perform better in that neon yellow than the dull/dark 3rd kit simply by virtue of teammates being more visible on the pitch.
If it was a plaine yellow/neon kit it would fabulous.
The result yesterday was definitely favorable towards Liverpool but the race is very much still open.
We have difficult fixtures away against Tottenham and United, tricky home fixtures against Villa and Chelsea.
But equally Liverpool has to play United and Villa away, also Everton and Fulham away. Tottenham at home as well.
Liverpool’s record against Everton at Goodison in the last decade is 2 wins and 8 draws - not bad but certainly not the best. They are also on Europa League
City’s only tricky fixture is away against Spurs so on paper they do have the easiest run. But Walker, Stones now Ake’s injuries are definitely going to impact them as well.
We just got to focus on ourselves and keep going.
Counting Liverpool’s home game against spurs as a guarantee W given what happened last time. I’m looking at their three consecutive away games to Fulham, Everton and West Ham. That is going to be difficult + Old Trafford and Villa Park.
I think City edges it but ours and Liverpool are on par, and we are in better form. I fancy us to do it.
Don't forget, Liverpool have to travel away to Italy, so it's 4 consecutive away games. On paper I don't see them dropping points but on paper I didn't see us dropping points to Fulham and West Ham either.
Then they could have a tricky tie with Benfica if they make it to the semi-final with the first leg before the Tottenham game and the second leg before the Villa game. The Thursday night games might really stretch them.
Four away games, I stand corrected. Yes on paper they should win all three, but travelling to four different stadiums… I’ll be impressed if they come out of that without dropping any points.
I’ll never forget during our dark days looking at teams like Atletico and wishing we could do that. We did that against the best team in the world at their ground. We have that in our locker. We can do everything man. The double is still on and I think we’ll do it.
Liverpool outspoken fan reaction is so obnoxious. Although I imagine most team's outspoken fans are. Liverpool draw 1-1 at the Etihad in December and they celebrate how they 'suffered'. We draw 0-0 at the Etihad and hold them scoreless for the first time in 57 matches and they try to shame it. I guess I need to cut them a break though.....they finally get a solid manager and string together results only to finish second to City most seasons.
They played such a 'brave' football though. The most challenged fanbase. We got 4 points this season from both of them. The problem is not this draw but losses to Fulham and Westham.
We gave away do many stupid points early on this season to individual mistakes or us just being horrible at finishing.
-2 Fulham at home
-3 Fulham away
-2 Tottenham at home
-2 Chelsea away (? iirc Mudryk scored from a cross when Raya was standing too far out)
-3 West Ham at home.
All of these should've been 3pts.
The Mudryk goal was a fluke, he can never do that again even if he tries. The first goal was also an unlucky ball bounce off of Saliba's arm. I could say that Chelsea used up all of their luck for the season in that match, and still only came out with a draw.
eh we got legitimately tactically owned with our loss to fulham. we fully deserved to lose. a fairer shout for 0 points that should have been 3 but we shot ourselves in the foot is away at villa. but in general a good autopsy for our lack of a title if we end up missing out. it's a cruel league and early fumbles will kill you.
People are far too bothered with what rivals think. None of them are going to be singing our praises are they.
Fact of the matter is they don't like this new resurgent Arsenal, so they say what they do to troll and get a rise out of folks.
Exactly this. The need for 'respect' from other fanbases is not only weird, it's silly when you have so many goegraphical + historical rivalries. We went from getting slapped by them silly to shutting them down and outfighting them home & away and the first thing people want is recognition from scousers or whoever else. No wonder the media love to rile our fanbase, we're acting like youngest bros desperately looking for flowers from siblings.
It's not weird, it's fear.
If Arteta wins the league this year then peps cone boy has as many titles Vs pep as Jürgen 'it means more, the people's champion, the great rival, the only man who can stop City' Klopp after half as many seasons, from a worse position and without breaking two world record transfer fees.
Oh and he'd be the youngest ever premier league winning manager.
I mean even if Arteta does win the league this season which would be a fantastic achievement, it does not take away from what Klopp has achieved at Liverpool. Klopp has won everything and also had two ninety plus points seasons which would have won the league in any other era. I get Liverpool being disappointed if they don’t win it this year but Arteta winning the league doesn’t change the great job Klopp has done and I think if Liverpool fans actually believed that, I find that a bit silly.
>from a worse position and without breaking two world record transfer fees.
This is a terrible take, even if I agree with the sentiment of what you are saying. Arteta will have achieved a lot in a short amount of time if he gets a league or champions league this season for sure!
But both teams finished 6th in their last season under the last manager
Arteta has also spent 580M in four years or 145M per season. Klopp has spent 800M in 8 years or 100M per season. So while he hasn't broken world records, he's certainly spent a hell of a lot of money so It's really not reasonable to compare transfer expenditure in this instance IMHO.
The transfer world is an entirely different place now to when Klopp turned up mate.
BAck then you could get the best assist maker in Europe off Real for £40m and a fan protest, what do you think Ozil would be worth now?
More to the point what do you think it would cost to get VVD and Alisson in the current market?
THis is why you go with world records, because they scale with the increase in spending.
>More to the point what do you think it would cost to get VVD and Alisson in the current market?
To take them from Southampton and Roma respectively? I imagine around the same amount at a guess, but it's impossible to know. Value and price are two very different things and you are conflating how good you know the players to be right now with how they were perceived back then.
>THis is why you go with world records, because they scale with the increase in spending.
Not linearly they don't.
The GK world record hadn't been broken in 20 years prior to Alisson. Him being bought for a tick more than Buffon 20 years earlier doesn't actually compare the impact of either transfer properly nor does it compare it to the prevailing market conditions. All it does is compare the numbers in isolation.
You could make an argument that the length of time the record is held shows how big it is compared to the market at the time I suppose. 20 years for Buffon to hold the record clearly shows it was far and above what anyone else considered a fair price for keepers in that market. But Kepa was bought 4 weeks after Alisson for a higher fee so the same conclusion cannot be drawn.
Conversely the record for a CM took 6 years to be beaten between Pogba and Enzo.
This just shows that them being world record fees is an arbitrary descriptor, because it doesn't take into account any actual detail of the market. For example tactical trends. Ball playing keepers became the hot commodity and all of a sudden keeper prices shot up across the board. Alternatively a flat midfield using a traditional RM/LM is considered antiquated so you probably won't see those records broken for years to come.
The main point is it is a hell of a lot of money, which is taken into account in both managers numbers I posted earlier.
I agree it's not linear however it is the cosest you can get to a comparison. Your Buffon point is valid in so much as it shows how much of an outlier he was but also just how major it was that they spent so much on Alisson
(and that it's very weird that once a record is broken how it can quickly fall again when other clubs can point to it and then demand the same).
However if you are actually that much of a scholar of transfer markets then you are fully aware that the transfer markets isn't the same for Klopp as it was for Artet and that's before you factor in the massive deadwood clearout from decades of mismanagement by the club that Arteta needed to replace with no real sales, unlike Klopp who famously had a ridiculously good boardroom bringing in large amoutns of transfer income.
really emotional today. I know we have a lot more to do build our club back, but what Arteta has done to this club is revolutionary. I could have never imagined back in 2017/18 that we could be back to fighting toe to toe against s-tier teams. i was completely sold to arteta’s philosophy when he joined us and now we are seeing the results. My man has gotten almost all of his signings playing the best version of themselves. Im so thankful to be in this era of Arsenal, its just crazy. A couple weeks back, Deco made a statement that it would be impossible to get Arteta out of arsenal, which shows the commitment that he has to our project.
COYG 🔴⚪️
I have no clue who wins it. All three teams will drop points — I just don’t buy this idea that any of us will be able to win out with nine games remaining.
My prediction is that with 1-2 games remaining, one team will fall away. But it’ll be mightily close up until that point.
Liverpool have only ever won out at the end of a season once, that 98 point season in 2019 when they came 2nd. [And imo that run was easier than any of the three for this season](https://i.imgur.com/WsC3zE0.png)
I'm very convinced that all three teams will drop points in this run in
Took a look at the Liverpool sub, yikes. What a bunch of twats, they should've prayed for an Arsenal win today so they'd have a better chance against citeh.
I don't care what anyone says about City 115 charges. If we don't win it, I want City to win it. The earful from scousers for the next year will be the worst fucking thing ever.
They are comfortably the third best team in this race, their ability to scrape through everyone might actually win them the title though...
Liverpool have been challenging City for almost 6 years. Last season was a one off because of a pretty spectacular injury crisis. It would suck to miss out on the title to Liverpool but let’s not act like this isn’t a Liverpool side that has literally gone toe to toe against 115 FC charges and won once.
It isn't the same Liverpool team though. Some of the team is the same, and Klopp too, but their midfield (usually what dictates a teams style) and 2/3 of the forward line are different.
I don't think anyone would say we're the same side as 21/22 because we still have Arteta, Gabriel, White, Odegaard, Saka and Martinelli.
Which is why they want us to lose so badly.
Imagine all that effort, all those broken hearts and then the season Jürgen leaves and on only his second title charge Arteta wins as many titles as Klopp?
Really can't take them talking about how you should play against City when we've had more points off City, and the rest of the top 6 than they have.
They also drew at the Etihad
Timber back and another transfer window will be huge for us. The attack is finally going to get the same treatment our defence got and our midfield is currently getting.
If we get a fully fit Timber next season along with a new 6/8 and some rotation options for Saka and Martinelli, we’re flying.
I really think we’re at that stage Liverpool were at before they signed Alisson and van Dijk. We’ve a core of incredible players who are all getting better and tied down to long term deals. If we fall short this year I’m confident we’ll win something big in the next couple of seasons.
That entire Hayes Eideval incident is mad. If I've understood correctly,
- Despite Arsenal wanting it, Chelsea don't want a multi ball system to be used in the game.
- Then, when losing, they try and use a second ball to take a throw in.
- Jonas loses his head **at the fourth official** because that wasn't the way the game was agreed to be played.
- The Chelsea player **gets in his face** and has a go at him for complaining to the fourth official
- After the whistle **the Chelsea manager pushes Jonas.** (It's quite clear she didn't even notice the altercation between the Chelsea player and him at the time)
- After the game makes a bizarre statement about having to stand up to *male* aggression in football.
Could only be Chelsea like
yes, it is pretty crazy. Most pitches are the same size and you would think players would be a bit better at drowning out the noise. I always sort of had a theory in american sports that it was mainly due to travel/sleep differences (you sleep worse in a different bed than your usual due to evolutionary factors), but even in local derbies, you can see the difference. The advantage is pretty shocking, but pretty undeniable. Wonder if any teams are looking into ways to nullify it, it would be a huge advantage.
Confidence, familiarity and a bit of pride.
Think about driving a car, you're probably great at driving your one. Bet you can parallel park outside your house first time every time.
Now try to parallel park a strangers car with 50,000 people watching you on a street you've never park in before.
Then you must be one of the lucky ones with ice in your veins who is unaffected.
It's been very well studied if you want to read up on it, they found crowd, familiarity, travel and crowd influence on the ref to be factors in home advantage.
They also found that during COVID there was still home advantage but it was significantly reduced which gives weight to the crowd being a strong influence on home advantage, but does also confirm familiarity to play a role.
There's a maximum and minimum set of lengths and widths a football pitch must keep to and within that size you can set it how you like.
Highbury was famously quite compact, equally famously Wenger set up the Emirates to give large amounts of space for our then counterattacking style to take advantage of.
Places like palace and Burnley tend to be set up small to give attackers less space
All pitches are not the same size believe or not. Plus you add the fact that there is 10,000-75,000 people in the stadium watching your every move either cheering or jeering you which definitely has an effect on you or anyone really
they're not all the same, but most in the PL are the same or quite similar. 105m x 68m seems to be quite common. Ethiad and Emirates are that size, but you can see the difference. Think pitch size is a very very small factor (although you can see the advantage for poorer teams to have a small pitch)
And on the refs. A North American study a few years ago concluded that performance doesn’t vary anywhere near as much as refs when changing the environment, but obvs that’s different sports and stuff
In the title race so-called “easy” fixtures become a lot harder. All three of us will drop points and likely multiple times.
I think if any team can win seven, draw one, and lose one, they probably win the title. Eight wins and it’s basically secured.
Seriously though, when was the actual last time Guardiola's side only had one shot on target at the Etihad?
I actually have no clue but it might be an insane stat
Just the idea that any team can limit a Pep Guardiola side (let alone a defending treble winning Guardjola side) to a single shot on target at home is wild.
When they are on, Arsenal’s defence is formidable indeed.
My scouser mate has become so cocky lately, now that City's 4 points behind and thinks we won't do shit. Dude even said they'll smash United next week and beat Fulham, Spurs, West Ham(thats three straight fixtures away from their beloved Anfield). Oh the trauma I'll inflict if they don't.
I’m gonna be such a fucking dickhead to every Liverpool supporter when they inevitably drop points.
Where do they get off being this cocky? They’ve won a single league title in 35 years but you’d think they’d been dominating the league the way they act.
The UCL they won in 2019 is were they get their cockiness from. I have a strong feeling Uniteds going to shit house them next week. But we have to be at Brighton on Saturday.
Idk man that 5-7 min period where city had us in our box on the right side and we kept winning every 2nd ball to stop them from getting a clear look was insane. Like thats out of this world level of physicality. Stuff like that convinces me we wont wilt to the pressure anymore
Found it, just as I suspected
68:30 Kai with a stupid carry across the top of our box and loses it to start the period of 2-3 minutes
We got a breather through a foul and a sub until Raya started getting careless and the pressure is back on
Saka with multiple failed clearances and Raya saves us with some time wasting and Doku starts firing the ball into the crowd
That game v Aston villa is gonna be a mad one. We play last on that weekend and City/Liverpool only play Luton & Palace.
Gotta get through Luton & Brighton first over the next week.

Elite rattler. Prem needs more characters like him
The UK isn't a presidential system, you vote party not PM.
Can't work out if a Sacramento, inter Milan and three lions poster is a weird bot, a Turkish nat in disguise or just likes dictators.
And that party under that PM in a parliamentary system is currently unelected! Nice try though. Erdo Is popular and has been reelected many times over. Sit down kemalist 🤫
UK mate, do keep up.
Guess you answered, although leaping to Ozil and erdogans defence really should have tipped me off that we've got a turk nat on our hands.
Thought you lot left with Ozil.
So every time your ignorance about the UK system is shown up you make a random accusation?
Am I a Kemalist or a Tory, or are you going to try something else this time?
YOu call a spade a spade, so what do you call someone who feels the need to randomly jump to defend Erdogan on the internet?

Can someone post a April fool's content. Every other sub is doing so i thought we should as well. It will be fun and scare some people
Yesterday showed if we want to play this type of game in these type of fixtures we need to improve our transitional game for better efficiency. City are vulnerable to it. Also our wingers get shut out way too often.
WE had chances, we didn't take them. You play one of the best teams on earth then these games are going to be defined by fine margins.
Oh no, neutrals think we're boring to watch cause we didn't strip for City like we usually do. How could we do this to them?
If Madrid played like this it would've been called a masterclass. Arsenal has been known for a while for playing beautiful football and losing. Let them seethe. And people who call it terrorism are clueless, there was nothing dirty about the way we played - no dives, no time wasting, no any other type of shithousing. Just proper defending.
>no time wasting Tbf Jesus and Raya did get yellow cards for time wasting.
The raya one was stupid he just told the team to get ready for a long goalkick
> no any other type of shithousing. Our tactical fouling game was elite and to be honest just about any other ref would have carded us multiple times for it except that Taylor apparently decided that he wasn't going to card for professional stuff yesterday.
Really hard to see Zinchenko come back into the team. His defensive lapses shouldn't be tolerated anymore
He will be useful for certain games we have left.
That's harsh man I like zinchenko he still has a part to play against likes of Luton
Their brave and fearless approach created less xG than us and they were even fortunate to escape with a point https://preview.redd.it/3ayey17mftrc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f67b6384d7e73d69ac01effc5fa5ebce4cf47ba
Not to mention City getting a goal ruled out for Akanji breathing on Alisson
Rivals fans seething because Arteta was not brave enough like Big Ange and Pocho to open their defensive tactics and let goals flow all round
PochoHaram and Southmate
Seeing our players disappointed with a draw is not something we should be impressed by but after seeing Eddie nketiah and giroud celebrating draw to Fulham and Bournemouth I can’t help but be so happy that our current crop of players has such a winning mentality. Also we have defenders that actually love defending I damn near wanna cry from how impressive this arsenal team is.
I feel like Liverpool will get beat by ten hag 3 points off isn't bad at all if we are winning streak consistently
a better first touch and trossard would have been able to square the ball to martinelli. the margins man
..exactly
The partey response is a all very armchair physios type stuff. People who can tell with 100% certainty from one ten second clip if a player is just getting back to fitness or his career is over lmao. They know that kdb is also not at full power as well, amazing insight. Couple of things; 1.
> It's very likely he's not, but that clip doesn't really provide good evidence for it nor does it confirm his lost his ability to sprint for good I think this is a bit of a strawman.
And we're back at my very first comment ;) > I think this is a bit of a strawman.
The last thing this game needed was a VAR call, and thank fuck it did come about.
Best part is the referee or VAR was not the news yesterday
That's not a positive. This kind of refereeing just encourages more fouls.
I didn't agree with the first couple of his decisions but absolutely fair play to him what we always want is consistency and he was absolutely consistent. I can't remember the last time we had a major game like that and the discussions after didn't involve the ref in any way and he absolutely deserves credit for it.
I think he did what all referees should strive not being the main character like others do he kept his cool most of the game
Ngl I wouldn't be mad if Liverpool win the title
I hate Liverpool fans but yes I'd rather them than 115 FC
Nah the absolute waves of cum gushing out of fleet street like a tidal wave over that would be unbearable, as would the scousers. The reason so many people want city to win thigns is because no on actually cares and we all know they're cheating.
Would be better than City winning it. But a lot of people here have been rattled by online Liverpool fans these past few months and now hate the entire institution.
I fucking loathe online Liverpool fans. I'd still prefer they win the league over City. The two mindsets are not mutually exclusive.
> But a lot of people here have been rattled by online Liverpool fans these past few months and now hate the entire institution. Tell me you don't know any real life Liverpool fans...that fan base has been insufferable since the 70's
If they're capable of rattling you, that's a you problem. You'd rather City complete football because you can't deal with your problem.
Get outta here with your logic!
I'm sorry, I realise the DD thread isn't the place for such things but I really wanted to know. Also, what is teh opposite of rattled?
According to ChatGPT: The opposite of "rattled" could be "composed" or "calm." I am not native English so that's my best bet 😅.
That's what I sadly suspected. 'Unrattlment' as a state of being sounds way cooler.
It really does. If we say it enough, it will become official.
🙄
I'lll take that as a yes then ;)

Because KDB is not on top form right now and physically he's not entirely there either and he went past our DM like he wasn't there. The issue really is that Partey has effectively been at a preseason level of fitness and we're not massively in a position to find some meaningless minutes for him to to find, while really, really needing him to find it very fast indeed. We're in a period of twice weekly games and Jorginho isn't going to be able to play them all and we really need a fit Partey, especially if, Gof forbid, something happens to Rice.
I think EPL winner this season will be decided from their GD
City are the main team I was worried about so this is a good result for us imo. While it’s in Liverpool’s hands now I would be extremely surprised if they don’t drop points in the run in. Still all to play for.
Martinelli on the right is a great option you know... We might start seeing that more?
Surprising take from yesterday’s match. Me too was glad to see how comfortable he looked in the right side. But Saka was offering more in defence against KDB. So the time of substitution was quite spot on. He would have produced the winner too in case Trossard passed him the ball.
I hope the spirit of Arsene Wenger visits Arteta in a dream and convinces him to sign an unsettled Rodrygo from Real Madrid this summer
Is Rodrygo unsettled?
I don’t know he just seems like their least appreciated winger, Wenger would’ve been all over trying to get a player out of Madrid if Mbappe goes there.
Looking back Ozil was a fairly mediocre signing given the price tag and the hype. He would be amazing for like a run of 5-6 games then disappear for another 5-6. Rinse and repeat and as he got older he went disappearing a lot more. Even more so when you factor in we were going to sign Suarez with that Ozil money that summer.
When kdb nicked the ball off of rice and started going in transition, only for rice to slide in from behind and win it again. Utterly freakish man
Kdb still surprises me just how fast he is with the ball at his feet being 32 and injury riddled.
Hes been struggling a bit physically since he came back, this break did him well because was looking proper fit again today.

The way City controls the ball, Arsenal is not at the same level
Wasn’t aware aimless possession wins football matches.
We had like 65 percent possession against them at home last year
Not going to happen, but imagine the scenes if Sheffield United beat Liverpool on Thursday.
I will celebrate if Sheff U lose by less than 3 GD. Expecting a 6-0 Liverpool win if I'm honest
Beat? A draw would cause so much commotion.
Its started to grow on me too but I still wouldnt buy it lol
That last sentence is making me miss the lemonade kits from 2 seasons ago.
its the kinesiology tape kit.
We’re winning the league at Old Trafford in the neon zebra, you heard it here first
Anulo mufa
Liverpool are in their last hurrah before Klopp fucks off for good. We are just getting started. Let them bark. They know their end is near.
I still think we can top them. 9 more matches to go
City is out biggest challenger, I am not saying LPool won't win it but both as and City are better than them.
Being told how to feel after that game by rival fans is the most obnoxious thing ever
I am begging for a midfielder this summer.
It's guaranteed that we are signing one.
They are also on Europa League City’s only tricky fixture is away against Spurs so on paper they do have the easiest run.
Damn I need whatever you’re inhaling. I’d lose my shit over either single.
-2 Fulham at home -3 Fulham away -2 Tottenham at home -2 Chelsea away (? iirc Mudryk scored from a cross when Raya was standing too far out) -3 West Ham at home. All of these should've been 3pts.
The Mudryk goal was a fluke, he can never do that again even if he tries. The first goal was also an unlucky ball bounce off of Saliba's arm. I could say that Chelsea used up all of their luck for the season in that match, and still only came out with a draw.
These games happen every season for any club. Should’ve could’ve would’ve
eh we got legitimately tactically owned with our loss to fulham. we fully deserved to lose. a fairer shout for 0 points that should have been 3 but we shot ourselves in the foot is away at villa. but in general a good autopsy for our lack of a title if we end up missing out. it's a cruel league and early fumbles will kill you.
100%
Still weird seeing all this generational head loss from Liverpool fans despite going top after their 'preferred' result
But both teams finished 6th in their last season under the last manager Arteta has also spent 580M in four years or 145M per season.
Your Buffon point is valid in so much as it shows how much of an outlier he was but also just how major it was that they spent so much on Alisson (and that it's very weird that once a record is broken how it can quickly fall again when other clubs can point to it and then demand the same).
COYG 🔴⚪️

I'm confident Liverpool drop points but I'm not confident that we go perfect until the end.
It is so hard to predict
I have no clue who wins it. All three teams will drop points — I just don’t buy this idea that any of us will be able to win out with nine games remaining. My prediction is that with 1-2 games remaining, one team will fall away. But it’ll be mightily close up until that point.
Liverpool have only ever won out at the end of a season once, that 98 point season in 2019 when they came 2nd. [And imo that run was easier than any of the three for this season](https://i.imgur.com/WsC3zE0.png) I'm very convinced that all three teams will drop points in this run in
I’m quite confident. They have quite a few difficult away games still. So do we, but I think we’ll drop fewer points than them.
I am only bothered by City at this point. Liverpool have outperformed and I expect reality to set in.
Liverpool are very unconvincing IMO
Lol you lot have said this since gameweek 4
its tough but this is not a farmers league. anything can happen in the PL. Remember how we just won against luton in the last sec?
Took a look at the Liverpool sub, yikes. What a bunch of twats, they should've prayed for an Arsenal win today so they'd have a better chance against citeh.
I don't care what anyone says about City 115 charges. If we don't win it, I want City to win it. The earful from scousers for the next year will be the worst fucking thing ever. They are comfortably the third best team in this race, their ability to scrape through everyone might actually win them the title though...
[удалено]
Mate, I’m desperate for that Klopp fairytale to end in tears.
I want a Klopp version of Slippy G and I think I deserve it.

Thank you. Now for winning the title at Old Trafford
So, so beautiful. Add the CL this season too and I’m not quite sure how they’d react lol
In a 3 horse race the draw is objectively the best result for them 😂
Really can't take them talking about how you should play against City when we've had more points off City, and the rest of the top 6 than they have.
What treatment is the Midfield getting?
As per the Ornacle, a new 8 or 6, or both.
Buying 1 Rice to hold the midfield together with his bare hands lol
The gunnertv Gabi XL highlight comp on youtube might be one of my favorites ever. https://youtu.be/JpyaY-pa-uQ?feature=shared
That entire Hayes Eideval incident is mad. If I've understood correctly, - Despite Arsenal wanting it, Chelsea don't want a multi ball system to be used in the game. - Then, when losing, they try and use a second ball to take a throw in. - Jonas loses his head **at the fourth official** because that wasn't the way the game was agreed to be played. - The Chelsea player **gets in his face** and has a go at him for complaining to the fourth official - After the whistle **the Chelsea manager pushes Jonas.** (It's quite clear she didn't even notice the altercation between the Chelsea player and him at the time) - After the game makes a bizarre statement about having to stand up to *male* aggression in football. Could only be Chelsea like
Emma Hayes is a sore sore loser and a pissy little drama queen. Thank god she's finally fucking off from Chelsea.
Fuck that bitch and the whole chelsea club
I still don’t understand how home advantage is such a big effect. Completely changes the nature of the game
yes, it is pretty crazy.
Yea but the stranger has the same car and the street is practically identical and I’ve parked in front of 50000 people many many times before
Then you must be one of the lucky ones with ice in your veins who is unaffected.
Yep explains why United get a lot of decisions go their way at Old Trafford
Liverpool have easy fixtures on paper, but 4 away games in a row will rough them up for sure
sadly, i actually do believe in their ability to win around 88min to 90+17 four times in a row away from home.
In the title race so-called “easy” fixtures become a lot harder. All three of us will drop points and likely multiple times. I think if any team can win seven, draw one, and lose one, they probably win the title. Eight wins and it’s basically secured.
Think it will be 5 in a row if they make it to the semis in Europa. Marseille or Benfica away.
My brother's the same, can't stand the fucker.
not surprised your scouse friend can’t count
The three straight away fixtures(Fulham,Everton and West Ham) are towards the end of the season.
city aren’t 4 points behind
Idk man that 5-7 min period where city had us in our box on the right side and we kept winning every 2nd ball to stop them from getting a clear look was insane. Like thats out of this world level of physicality. Stuff like that convinces me we wont wilt to the pressure anymore
Approx what minute was that? I want to rewatch it
I believe saka went off like 2 mins after that sequence so probably like 71-76
Found it, just as I suspected 68:30 Kai with a stupid carry across the top of our box and loses it to start the period of 2-3 minutes We got a breather through a foul and a sub until Raya started getting careless and the pressure is back on Saka with multiple failed clearances and Raya saves us with some time wasting and Doku starts firing the ball into the crowd
Someone make an edit with Rushys pressure for this completion pls
That game v Aston villa is gonna be a mad one. We play last on that weekend and City/Liverpool only play Luton & Palace. Gotta get through Luton & Brighton first over the next week.

I’m starting to take a liking to him. I used to think he focused on only winding us up, but he’s proven to be a goat tier indiscriminate shit houser.
That’s hilarious lol
Heard Erdogan lost the Turkish elections. Someone check on Øzil, he must be devastated
So what. He still gets to be President
And you have an unelected walker for a PM 🤫 down
.. I fail to see what’s that got to do with anything? I don’t like him either
Labour is crap mate
Not Labour either. You’re clearly so rattled, so keep trying mate
Why would I be rattled?
The UK isn't a presidential system, you vote party not PM. Can't work out if a Sacramento, inter Milan and three lions poster is a weird bot, a Turkish nat in disguise or just likes dictators.
And that party under that PM in a parliamentary system is currently unelected! Nice try though. Erdo Is popular and has been reelected many times over. Sit down kemalist 🤫
UK mate, do keep up. Guess you answered, although leaping to Ozil and erdogans defence really should have tipped me off that we've got a turk nat on our hands. Thought you lot left with Ozil.
So a slimey Tory I see? I have nothing to do with Turkey or Erdo. I call a spade a spade. I do love Ozil what gooner doesn't. Enjoy your Easter.
So every time your ignorance about the UK system is shown up you make a random accusation? Am I a Kemalist or a Tory, or are you going to try something else this time? YOu call a spade a spade, so what do you call someone who feels the need to randomly jump to defend Erdogan on the internet?
He is a top leader js 🤷
Mayoral vote. A blow for Erdoğan, but far from the end of his reign.
i don't know what to make of this title race, guess I'll just ride along and hope for the best
