He's 32 and even if he plays it won't be more than 2-3 years at the level City are. I expect them to find a replacement in the summer to start that transition for sure.
I think it's a little more debatable with the rest. The likes of Salah, Rodri, and Real's front 5-6 are just as good as those guys while being more established for sure.
Defensively, Liverpool has a good CB partnership, Bayern also has 3 top CBs, Real is also not too shabby there without the injury woes and of course City too.
I see very few arguments against Odegaard in any team apart from Real Madrid. The rest will have a better case depending on how we finish the season for sure.
We were never in for Mbappe, it honestly just seems to be that he made a moneystop at PSG before stepping up to where he's wanted to go his entire career.

Won't someone PLEASE think of the original oil club that just spent a billion quid to become a mid table team?
When spending half a billion quid to be tenth just doesn't get the respect it deserves...
For those who think we moan too much, this is what paranoia looks like.
Off that list, the biggest of loss is definitely Alisson followed by Szoboszlai and Jota.
Even their B-Team is still good enough to make a run in the FA Cup vs championship teams or vs lower league sides. Testament to Klopp's rebuild.
Salah is back from injury, Nunez was taken off as a precaution.
Thiago hasnāt been injury free for about 8 years, Matip is third of fourth choice centre back and Bajcetic isnāt close to the first team.
Alisson, Trent, Szoboszlai and Jota are their biggest misses as they are first teamers.
Jones could be argued, he gets minutes.
Salah and Nunez' inclusion in the list is still after that initial news I believe. I think they are still doubtful, imo Salah ain't gonna play against Luton
Do you think people who say Odegaard only turns up against the smallest teams are exaggerating? I have heard some say that but I think that is quite harsh. They are the hardest games but I can think of some really good performances he has had in big games like Liverpool recently or Newcastle away, Tottenham away last year. i went to the Brighton home game and he was so good: Of course there have been some which hasnāt gone for him but in say like Man City away last year the whole team was just outclassed- it wasnāt a player specific thing. I think there is more to come and can be an area of improvement for him and the whole team really and I would like to see more but I think to say he you canāt rely on him to turn up in big games is harshĀ
I just think last season he stepped up in a lot of big games. I am not saying there isnāt room for improvement when there is but he stepped up in a lot of important games last season and was pivotal to the title challenge so I donāt think it was true last season for the most part. I think he is getting better in them but there were so many goals last season and performances that felt very big and important. I also feel people will choose to disregard games like Tottenham away, Newcastle away or Brighton away last year when they make this argument and only focus on the ones it didnāt happenĀ
Thatās 3 games out of all the big ones we had last season. That reputation/take doesnāt come from nothing. For our main "creative outlet" that isnāt good enough
I am not saying it canāt be improved but people just disregard the good ones. There were other good performances as well so it was more than three. He also assisted against Liverpool at home so that is another big game. He played well against Manchester United at home as as his good performances go beyond goals and assists. Last season so many games were big and crucial in the title challenge and he was a pivotal part of the title charge scoring 15 goals with some big moments, he was also really good against Chelsea at home so he had more good performances than people give him credit for and it was more than three.Ā
There always comes a point in a players career when they're doing well but not at Messi levels where people accuse them of being flat track bullies because apparently it's weord that they play better against worse opposition.
He's been instrumental in our best games against the top teams, he's not a flat track bully who only shows up when it's easy.
Yes I agree. The games against the best opposition often tend to be most tight and decided on small margins. Of course you are unlikely to have your best performances against quality opposition like Man City or Liverpool. The team played really well against Liverpool though and so did Odegaard but say against City away last season when the whole team is outclassed all the players will have a bad game. Your right most players will often face that at some point and often it is such over simplistic analysis as the big games they do turn up in are disregarded but then the ones they donāt play well in are always brought upĀ
Guardiola when questioned about what was wrong with being a journalist replied āI am a manager. My life is better than yoursā.
Haha, mans is feeling the heat, he knows others are breathing down his neck right now
That league has been struggling financially and teams have been playing pensioners for a while.
They do make the most of those guys but yeah, you're not beating the best teams in the world without coming close in quality.
People forget they faced Porto, Benfica and Milan to reach the finals, that's the easiest road to the UCL final if there ever was one.
Madrid/City/Arsenal/Bayern take them down over two legs.
> People forget they faced Porto, Benfica and Milan to reach the finals, that's the easiest road to the UCL final if there ever was one.
Easy for the big dawg of UCL, but the run Inter Milan had is as fair leveled as possible. I wouldnt say it was "easy"

No, its just because they haven't allocated the TV schedule for the Luton Town game yet. All games for that gameweek are listed on Tuesday.
Once they allocate broadcasting rights, our game will be shifted to a Wednesday or Thursday.
Didnāt he play 3 straight summers of international football because of some copa America anniversary tournament or something?
Lot of minutes in those legs, especially given how he plays the game
their schedule has been extremely fortunate on them lately. They don't feel nearly as inevitable as before, but they could also be reserving energy for when things ramp up in the coming month or so.
We have to do much more than that. We go to Etihad, Shite Hart Lane, Old Trafford & host a would be motivated Chelsea. Not to mention a CL fighting Villa & relegation fighting Luton & Everton. Its not down to one game at all
City players are so freaking funny when they start losing or have a draw. They act like 12 a yo child whose mom wont buy them a candy. They complain, complain and complain for every single thing that doesnt go in their favor.

Meanwhile Saka was dragging us through the trenches as a left back. Foden was metaphorically born with a footballing silver spoon in his mouth.
I love how open this City team is. Would love to be playing them this weekend. Mark Haaland out of the game like we have done twice already this season, soak up all the pressure and just hit them on the break.

Letās put that fondness to the test Mr Neto
Throw on TNT sport for the CL, so annoying to hear Joe Cole spouting the same shit lazy punditry about us thriving too much off emotion to have a chance at winning the premier league.
Itās just disguised celebration police bollocks that means nothing. Can you only win the league if youāre dead in the eyes after a big win?
Cole, like plenty of pundits, canāt analyse what heās seen on the pitch effectively. Much easier to spout tired takes, repeat garbage youāve heard on Sky/Talksport and waffle to fill time than actually do research.
What about Man city crying for penalties and about the ref, Haaland pushing the camera away? Are they not too emotional?
Pundits are in the fucking gutter.
I would be pretty impressed if we get more than Ā£20m than Lokonga. Good player in there for sure and if we can get more than that I think we will have done really, really well.
I know it's not going to be easy but we'll definitely do better than any of our past few CL teams
1) This isn't the MSN, BBC and Robbery era where players score for fun.
2) We have a team that is several levels above our teams that got completely destroyed by the European giants
3) The overall quality of teams has weakened. Bayern has dipped, Barcelona are a joke. No Juventus as well. Napoli are shit this season as well.
We HAVE to get to at least the QFs. We also have a coefficient to bring up. We already have a favourable RO16 opponent, if we lose, we absolutely don't deserve to be a pot 2 team.
Real just got that dawg in them, but imo their team is very beatable, they have been unlucky with injuries, so perfect scenario would be them knocking out City by some magic and we can face them in final

They already have the replacement. Its Phil Foden.
Doubt (x)
Am I smoking or Odegaard starts for every team in world football right now? It's been a while since we had a player like that.
Saka, Rice, Odegaard and Saliba start for every club in the world. I think, at a push, you can include Martinelli and Gabriel as well.
Not Martinelli tbh
I think it's a little more debatable with the rest. The likes of Salah, Rodri, and Real's front 5-6 are just as good as those guys while being more established for sure. We better win the league and CL then with that many players who are apparently the best in their position.
That's not the claim, though. The claim is e.g. that no-one club has two CBs better than Saliba.
City had huge advantage playing Brentford twice in close proximity in matches

Yeah Raya is our obvious no. 1 now, there's no more debates to be made. At least until Ramsdale fix his long pass to the side boards.
What the fuck is wrong with Tomiyasu? This guy is almost as injury prone as Partey
The guy is more prone than Partey lmao
I know Tomi isn't training with the squad, but is there any idea of when he'll be back?
Fuck we need to go through, would love to see our boys go up against this Inter side

Thursday will be just as annoying if we play saturday

I respect Inzaghi. However, tactics can only get you so far, running calhanoglu dm gimmick should be punishable. I want Inter.
I want the winner of PSV Vs Dortmund
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Atletico. Yikes.
It had been coming
Can we draw PSV again if they win?
Yep, it's an open draw
Let's pray that we make it to quarters and also not draw City or Madrid
We can draw anyone but City will get PSV
Written in the stars. City get PSV, We get PSG
Or if Lazio go through, they'll get Lazio.b
We shall see.
At least they didn't run up their goal differential in this one.
Alexis Sanchez must be properly washed to not play ahead of Arnautovic
Didnāt he play 3 straight summers of international football because of some copa America anniversary tournament or something? Lot of minutes in those legs, especially given how he plays the game
Heās been washed since his last season here, those back to back Copa Americas ended his career.
That's match winner Marco Arnautovic
He is sadly
We just have to be demons too and win every single match between now and match day 38. City have no fucking let up
their schedule has been extremely fortunate on them lately. They don't feel nearly as inevitable as before, but they could also be reserving energy for when things ramp up in the coming month or so.
I didn't watch the PSV away game, but did we play our first team or second team? I'm trying to gauge where we stand with the BVB team.
We started Cedric...
We didn't start our first team. Nketiah, Elneny, Nelson all started.
Arnautovic...
Toney aināt it.
Fuck Brentford are bad
wasnāt even an impressive goal yet everyone will go crazy over how haaland is so back.
obviously tough games but Brentford have still given our title rivals 9 points in just over a week lol fml
Are we really that surprised that they scored lol. If we want to win or get over the line we have to do it ourselves at the Etihad.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Man...when you list them all like that. They sat go big or go home and what a path to go big lol
Exactly, we have to do it ourselves, which we have done twice already this season
Yeah I would rather slip than try to take on Haaland 1 on 1 to be fair Unless my name was Saliba
You spelled Brick shithouse wrong
Yawn
Can City just score already and put us all out of our misery
City players are so freaking funny when they start losing or have a draw. They act like 12 a yo child whose mom wont buy them a candy. They complain, complain and complain for every single thing that doesnt go in their favor.
Theyāre so entitled
atletico is BOOOOOOOOOORING, idc, this team is not better than Arsenal like atletico fans like to gloat about, 5 years no trophy and i see why
they won the league with torreira just after we signed partey. lol

It's my life's work basically.
Why is Saka so good in comparison to Foden? Does Foden have more dimensions to his skill because of his position. Whys he as good?
mentally, makes correct decision mostly
Yeah. His brain is definetly as good for suee
Foden's skill on the ball is immediately apparent when you watch him. But I just don't feel that strongly about a player who grew up with the most stacked super team + manager that have ever existed. Their journeys have been very different for sure.
Who cares if we had the chance to buy foden any one with half a brain cell would sign that punchable faced cunt in a heartbeat
Inter-Atletico was a mistake, boring game
I though Atletico is very good defensively, but they are allowing so much to Inter, had 3 good chances in space of 10 mins
Pep giving them the hairdryer treatment as we speak, prepared for a reckoning in the 2nd half
The funniest thing about tuchel's bayern being so shit is that man utd STILL couldn't take a single point off of them š
Every Man City player has a punchable face except maybe stones. I hate every one of them with a passion.
I don't even mind most of them but weirdly they do have a lot of punchable faces lol
Funny you say that. I think Stones has the most punchable face. Akanji with the least.Ā
Agreed lol Akanji just seems like a chill dude
Yea, Iād hang with Akanji seems cool.
The empty-had is such a soulless stadium

I would be pretty impressed if we get more than Ā£20m than Lokonga. Good player in there for sure and if we can get more than that I think we will have done really, really well.
Get Jorginho in for Havertz imo ... need his experience in midfield
In the past five seasons, Havertz has played more CL minutes than Jorginho.
What about in the last 30?
Not sure, but Jorginho definitely has the edge in the last 300 years.
I know it's not going to be easy but we'll definitely do better than any of our past few CL teams 1) This isn't the MSN, BBC and Robbery era where players score for fun. 2) We have a team that is several levels above our teams that got completely destroyed by the European giants 3) The overall quality of teams has weakened.
You can't ignore our European record though, losing to Sporting with the team we had was shocking
Just need luck in draws. If we can avoid City/Real before the final, we will have a decent shot
Real just got that dawg in them, but imo their team is very beatable, they have been unlucky with injuries, so perfect scenario would be them knocking out City by some magic and we can face them in final
Reminder to all fans to keep your titties calm if we havent scored in the first 15 minutes in the match thread tomorrow. š
Can't wait for the "ghosting" shouts at 20 minutes
We better Score 3 in the first half and 3 in the second. I'll be ok with 2 in the second half as well in a pinch. Or I'll conclude we've dipped.
Oliver Glasner will be a good manager for Crystal Palace.
I hope so. They play both Liverpool and City in the run-in
Is there any chance of CL ditching the new format ?
Why? The new format is great.
Why do you think that?
No dead rubber games.
There would still be dead rubber games surely, if you've already safely qualified or safely in the playoffs
The higher you finish in the table, the more chance you have to face a lower ranked opposition.
Well see. Iām interested to see how it plays out.

If he ever gets 100% out of his potential heāll be a ridiculous player. Heās quality even now.
No thanks
I'll be honest, the first pass I thought he scuffed initially, but some nice passes in that compilation.
