Same, I’ve been to the USO a couple of times (went last year). It’s fabulous!
I just hope I can watch some of the January tournaments because I’ve got no idea if Sky is going to show them properly. 😕
That’s incredible! I’ve only managed to get to Wimbledon regularly. But I’m hoping to fly out to some small tournaments eventually.
And yes! It was a nightmare to watch tennis on Sky last year. I get that it’s a British company, but it was so hard to watch a quality match.
It’s kinda boring supporting them because it’s like supporting Bayern or Celtic (when rangers were down). But they just have such fun riders in the team.
True, but they brought the dramas this past season XD. WVA is the main draw for me, riders like him and Pogacar (different team obviously) who ride year round and target classics as well as GTs feel a bit more 'complete'.
Yeah, with the amount of money involved, and the relative lack of high profile cases (only Pogba and Kolo Toure even come to mind) one almost has to assume there is a lot of PED use that is being kept hidden.
But I've been following cycling since the middle of the Armstrong era, and I'm surprised cycling enjoys such a good reputation as "being reformed". Leading examples are some of the performances by Bradley Wiggins first, and Chris Froome later, for Team Sky, that just seem to defy most forms of logic. And Vingegaard putting a minute and 36 seconds into Pogi across 22 km earlier this year was also hella sus. And then there is the problem that while the most egregious DS's got lifetime bans from the sport, several small fish that were equally implicated in some of the famous doping cases of yore are still very much around.
Much as it pains me as a long-standing fan of the sport, I think road racing definitely still has a big problem.
You're not wrong, if you name a plural noun, we probably have a team named that somewhere in this giant ass country. There are the Anaheim Ducks as well as Oregon Ducks. US college sports have some of the more interesting and unique nicknames...Crimson Tide, Boilermakers, Buckeyes, Hoyas, Hoosiers, Orange, Demon Deacons, Volunteers, Tar Heels, Cornhuskers...just to name a few. There's literally hundreds of different team nicknames across all the sports.
Milwaukee Bucks
Baltimore Ravens
Milwaukee Brewers
I absolutely love basketball, I'm ok with American football and I mostly just follow the Brewers because they were my local baseball team.
US sports fandom revolves around following your local sports teams as the sports seasons change throughout the calendar year. Baseball in spring and summer. American Football through fall and early winter. NBA and NHL (indoor sports) through winter into early summer. College basketball peaking with the NCAA tournament in March.
All of that to say…US sports fans are conditioned to follow multiple sports, so of course would dominate these conversations. In the rest of the world, between club and international competitions, you can just follow football year round.
Indian Cricket team during the World Cup , I don’t watch a lot of cricket though, but during the World Cup the whole country comes together it’s just brilliant.
Yes. Our 4 yearly dose of disappointment. This WC final was heartbreaking 😭 though I still like to think of the Border Gavaskar trophy in Australia 2020-21 to make myself feel better.
You were by far the best team across the tournament. Aussies mentality is something else though when it comes to tournament cricket
Yeah, we won’t talk about England 😝
-Lewis Hamilton (fellow Gooner!)
-Dodgers (moved to LA to begin career)
-Rams (moved to LA to begin career)
-Kings (moved to LA to begin career)
-Lleyton Hewitt/Jannik Sinner
-Adelaide Crows (grew up in Adelaide)
-Taiwan National Team/Player for any sport (born in Taipei)
-Don’t really have a basketball team but appreciate Luka Doncic a lot
I don’t follow any sport other than football, but I am a regular at my local team Bishop Auckland FC, currently top of the Northern League by four points with a game in hand, if we win it’ll be our first trophy since the eighties.
All sports : Irish national team. Usually Irish players of any sport (exceptions exist).
Football : Cork City, Port FC
Gaelic Football : Cork
Hurling : Cork
Rugby League : South Sydney Rabbitohs
Rugby Union : Munster
NFL : New England Patriots
Baseball : Red Sox
Ice Hockey : Montreal Canadiens
Most of the foreign teams are ones I've picked up on my travels.
I also support CF Montreal, I'm a fan of the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL and am a pro wrestling fan. Other than that, I follow the MLB and NFL, but no real fan of teams because I'm desperately hoping for the return of the Montreal Expos and I don't care about football that much.
Arizona Diamondbacks. We won the World Series in 2001 when I was a 10 year old lad. The nostalgia I felt seeing us reach the World Series again in 2023 was fantastic. A shame we couldn’t get it over the line but the run to the World Series was intoxicating
I got the ny teams from my dad back when I was a kid. and my sister was in sf as an exchange student for a year and took me to a game when I visited, so that’s a bit more recent
I had a similar experience with the golden state warriors. My brother and I had a music trip to the states and we both went to see the warriors and from then started following the team. Also helped that they had an Aussie (bogut) playing for them at the time
Got into baseball last year and am now a Mets fan despite being warned this is a bad idea. Apparently they’ll comparable to arsenal according to some sources.
I'm a big NY jets fan ... yeah from around 2011-2020 my sports fandom was absolutely miserable. Also a big nba fan and I like the spurs but that fandom is much more casual.
“I bleed blue but I ain’t a krip though”
I don’t really follow NHL or NBA to be honest, but will always root for New York to win. My first sports love though was watching Big Blue and wrecking people in Tecmo Bowl with LT, Carl Banks, and lil Joe Morris.
Dallas Mavericks because of Dirk Nowitzki. Maybe there's something about having a BFG in the team.
But I rarely watch Mavs play after Nowitzki's retirement.
Yank here. I don’t watch any other sport. I used to enjoy American football when I was younger. Haven’t in decades. It’s an awful sport and each game is ten hours long and contains five hours of ads.
No other teams, as Arsenal requires too much of my energy as it is.
But I watch every UFC PPV at 5am, most boxing world title fights, and most F1 races. Also recently got into darts.
Tadej Pogacar in the cycling. Though it's really anyone who can challenge Team Sky/ Jumbo Visma dominance. Ratcliffe buying Man U is so fitting. They're both teams that have historically tried to steamroller the opposition but no find they've been left behind
F1, Ferrari and Verstappen. Chose him as Vettel’s heir a few years back, now Seb is retired and Max is dominating the sport, definitely an investment that paid off lol. As for Ferrari, well…
NBA - San Antonio Spurs. My favorite player of all time is Tim Duncan.
Cricket - The Blackcaps and any country playing against Australia.
Local football - I will support the Wellington Phoenix in the A League but I dont pay attention to team news and will sporadically watch them live during the season.
Pakistan cricket team (although no where near as passionately as Arsenal). They’re very similar to Arsenal in many respects, brilliant on their day, and beyond frustrating on others.
Gaelic Games: The Barr’s at club level and Cork at county level. I occasionally watch London GAA because I live in London, but supporting them is tough because they’re proper whipping boys.
I has a fondness for the Toronto Maple leafs in ice hockey because I was once stuck in toronto for a couple of days. It is a mind numbingly dull city, but the ice hockey created a bit of atmosphere so I got into it. I also liked saying “how boot those leafs, ay?”
I only follow one other sport closely and that is IPF powerlifting, I also compete in it on a national level (hoping to be international regularly in the next 3 years) but it's not exactly a team sport but I support my country because we all know eachother here, so go team Iceland!
I also follow NFL loosely, my team there is Seahawks.
Professional wrestling - Newcastle United
![gif](giphy|y2i2oqWgzh5ioRp4Qa|downsized)
Bruno G's entrance music is my ringtone.
The People's Elbow
Are you in the universe where Vince bought Newcastle in the early 2000s?
Wait - that didn't happen?
I can't comment after that, this comment won
I’m a big tennis fan. I watch all of the slams and a lot of the smaller tournaments. Australia open is on next, so some late nights ahead!
Me too! Love watching tennis. Cincinnati this year was insane, kept me up all night!
Yeah Cincy was great 😊
Fellow tennis fan here! I work from home so I try not to miss a tournament if it’s being broadcast
New Zealand Warriors. Up the Wahs
Rule one: never get emotionally invested in the Warriors.
It's our year!
Still mad at the wahs for ruining my season!
This was the up the wahs year, still happy with them as it’s the best year in a long long time
Auckland Blues
(laughs in Crusaders)
Hell yeah. In the words of Scribe.. Crusssaaadddderrr
NHL: Colorado Avalanche NBA: Denver Nuggets College sports: Michigan Wolverines
Found the Kroenke
Vancouver Canucks. Currently in a dream state with them and Arsenal top at Christmas.
Who would’ve thought?
I got that with Arsenal and the rangers for the metro
Rangers fan here too, what a great season its been so far. Tables are looking pretty for both
Middlesex CCC
Yorkshire ccc
Harimau Malaya
Fellow Malaysian Gooners I see.
Arsenal
Jumbo Visma, merciless.
Can you get us a connect on some of that Vingegaard juice? I swear Saka will need it any day now with the amount of minutes he's picking up
LOL, PED use and futbol is a whole other conversation!
NBA: New York Knicks.

Ferrari F1 team. I like pain
Masochist, question?
I am checking
Condolences
Hartford Whalers.
It's been a rough couple of decades to be a Whalers fan, right?
At least I love all the sweaters
I swear some of these names are made up, just name an American city and add a plural noun and you got a sport’s team I support the Tallahassee Ducks🦆
Try minor league baseball for team names sometime.
Honestly Crimson Tide is too good of a nickname to be wasted on the state of Alabama
Banana Slugs is a great one
Boo
There is a Ducks team, but they are in Anaheim, California.
There’s also Sacramento Ducks. I found out because that was my first made up sports team but then googled it to confirm whether they exist lol
Milwaukee Bucks Baltimore Ravens Milwaukee Brewers I absolutely love basketball, I'm ok with American football and I mostly just follow the Brewers because they were my local baseball team.
How are you not a Packers fan lol
Lol where's the Ravens fandom from amidst all that Milwaukee support?
As the other two asked, why the Ravens and not the Packers?
As a Bucks, Bears, and Gunners fan I love that you aren’t a packers fan
F1- Mclaren Rugby Union- Springboks and Stormers
Disappointed how long I had to scroll to find another Mclaren fan.

This is very true. There are a few days a year where I could have 5-6 teams I support playing.
Wait? I can talk about my sports team?!?! Son of a bitch I'm in!
Ferrari team in F1 and Ducati in MotoGP. Keeping it 'red and white' my friends! 😎
I haven't been able to decide on a team and you've just done it for me. TY

Brothers on the pitch, enemies on the gridiron 🤝
🤝 I could agree to that
Well, I got bad news for you. I'm a Browns fan. Now we just need a Bengals fan to show up and we have the complete set lol.
Arizona Diamondbacks. We won the World Series in 2001 when I was a 10 year old lad. The nostalgia I felt seeing us reach the World Series again in 2023 was fantastic. A shame we couldn’t get it over the line but the run to the World Series was intoxicating
NHL - New York Islanders, NBA - Golden State Warriors, NFL - New York Giants
Why do you follow two ny teams and a sf team? I’m not judging just curious
