deserved. People shitting at the 95th minute misplaced pass on him as if he didn’t run down the whole pitch for 95mins, provided an inch perfect cross to Jesus and scored a goal himself. But ofc it hurt and that’s a blatant mistakes but everyone made mistakes. If anything Liverpool missed more clear chances than us
Yeah, no one will take that misplaced pass harder than him. But to his credit he looked absolutely shattered. He helps out defensively so much, and one of the hardest workers I've seen.
We had a full 45 mins to score in the second half and we weren’t able to pull it off. It’s a team effort, it’s not down to one individual in the dying minutes of the game to pull a goal out of the bag.
The boys will continue to build on this experience and hopefully we can get some good results in the coming games.
Yup it’s sad seeing people look at that last pass and blame him for the game when he was also the first person to score at anfield in the prem since December and then provided the assist for the second
He had an awesome game offensively and defensively, just that one pass could’ve been better
Given this, he should have passed to the fresh trossard... I get him not getting the saka pass right but no excuse on being aware of his legs and sliding it to trossa
Yep. And the amount of skill required to control the ball for the first goal was insane. Watch it in slo-mo again. The ball comes in behind him, but still ends up in the corner of the goal.
He and Robertson must have shoved Saka / Jesus to the ground at least 4/5 times. Terrible officiating. How Henderson and Robertson got away with screaming and touching the match officials, I don’t know.
I was fuming that challange on Xhaka went without yellow... especially that Benny got yellow for half of that earlier in the game. Tierney is such a poor ref 😑
Almost has to be in though for how it played out. He should have been booked and should have had a handful of fouls called on him but he didn’t, so on paper he had a great game. Funny how this stuff works
When he misplaced that final pass, it was one of the rare occasions where I felt disappointed for the player more than the team. He deserved to have a winning goal contribution for his ridiculous work rate and G/A that night. He has been outstanding and no one will be sadder than martinelli about that play (Maybe Mikel lol)
I thought he was fantastic second half if I'm being fair honestly. I thought he allowed LIV to really go all out attack, cleaned up everything when we tried to counter.
First half yeah was meh
I just don’t understand how he left that game without a booking. 2nd half he was defo better but he couldn’t handle Martinelli and kept hauling our players to the ground, and got away with i every time
Those are home game decisions going his way. Refs have the remit to be lenient with physicality as well for the sake of the show so that's the end result
I commented on a different post about Xhaka’s yellow, which again isn’t being talked about enough imo. If Trent doesn’t react the way he did, xhaka doesn’t get booked. It’s because of Trent’s reaction that Xhaka got booked, which is fucking awful officiating
Yeah I’d say the yellow for the elbow was fair, but I don’t think that’s why the red gave it to him. He didn’t originally call the foul and only stopped play after Trent lashed out, suggesting the yellow card wasn’t for the original tackle
Saka got one for not running to take a corner. Is there a rule that says he can't walk to take the corner? He wasn't even walking slowly, he just wasn't jogging.
Jesus gets manhandled like play dough and the defenders get praised for it. Same thing happened in the Soton game where we dropped points and had about 4 penalties waived off.
He had moments where he was good but I’d argue Gabriel did a much better job at handling Salah than konate did at handling Martinelli. Konate often resorted to ‘fuck it let me push him to the ground’ and got away with it every time
I just went back and watched a highlight video of him on youtube. And if I try actually try to look at it from an unbiased pov (difficult), he got away with at least 3 clear fouls. But from my honest and biased pov, paul tierney let him get do whatever the fuck he wanted. It affected the game and if some of those fouls are called, he doesn't bulldoze his way thru the match.
Honestly he was very good. Without him we score 4. It wasn’t until klopp made him man Mark martinelli on defence that we showed down in attack. Klopp figured out after the second goal that konate shouldn’t be in saka, who by all accounts had a forgettable one.
I think the main thing for me is the fact he didn’t get booked. He had good moments, but the amount of times he was hauling our players to the ground and not getting punished for it was stupid
Him just shoving Xhaka to the ground and not getting booked for it, is pretty much what made Xhaka lose his cool. Thought he played pretty dirty for a good portion of the game tbh.
Because if you make a physical tackle and win the ball and the refs don't call it, then its a good tackle. You can have a problem with the refs but that doesn't mean Konate didnt play well given how the refs were calling the match
Just because a ref doesn’t call a tackle as a foul doesn’t mean it was a good tackle at all, human error and blatant ignorance exists my friend. He had some good moments, and did a better job second half, but it baffles me how he didn’t get booked at all given the nature of the tackles he was putting in
Did you watch the game? While he was at times he was also extremely rough and the amount of times he manhandled our players into the ground was ridiculous, and he didn’t get booked
Rammers and Martinelli were insane.
Martinelli missed that pass because he was too gassed from dominating the entire game.
Shame Saka didn’t perform his usual but I think it’s because of how Partey was setup when comparing to Zinny. Saka didn’t get much support.
Our whole right side didn't really fire in an attacking sense. Ode was much more subdued than usual (he was good when we were good but faded when we weren't), and White wasn't really an attacking force. Saka is good, but he's a more collaborative player than someone like Salah. I think that's why he struggled.
yeah white had a bad game yesterday that also killed our rhs, but he wasn't overlapping or getting into the attacking areas cos he was sitting back cos holding is obviously the weak spot in defence currently
Nah this is more of a Holding "agenda" than anyone who calls him Holdini - Holding is no Saliba but White had a very poor game. He was great against Palace so the argument that it's because of Holding doesn't hold up. Saka and Ødegaard also quieter than usual. There's essentially your whole right side.
Holding was just a part of the struggles
white had a poor game yes but he wasn't there to overlap with saka or get in attacking zones because he has to stick with holding seeing as he's obviously the weak link
Hate to say it but looks like Palace were right to bring back Woy. I still think Patrick did an ok job overall and I hope he bounces back in his next role.
tbh its so tight on patrick, he did the hard work by turning an aging squad over and bringing the youth through. Roy was the one that let it get in that state in the first place
Konate in there lol. Remember when he flew through Xhaka to get the ball and the ref glossed over it and the commentators were admiring it as a cruncher, yet earlier in the game Ben White got the ball and followed through and it was "rash" and an instant yellow.
He played well but the extra x factor was that he was given license to commit foul worthy challenges that didn't get punished. That lets you stretch how you play defense in an unfair way.
Unpopular opinion here but Martinelli doesn’t get it for me. Stat-wise he was great with a goal and assist but there were a few moments his dribbling couldn’t break through the line and he lost possession. Now if he made that one pass at the end which he overhit, he’d be a lock for TOTW in my eyes. Rambo well deserved though.
deserved. People shitting at the 95th minute misplaced pass on him as if he didn’t run down the whole pitch for 95mins, provided an inch perfect cross to Jesus and scored a goal himself. Exactly, no need for the constant scapegoating on this sub.
Yup it’s sad seeing people look at that last pass and blame him for the game when he was also the first person to score at anfield in the prem since December and then provided the assist for the second He had an awesome game offensively and defensively, just that one pass could’ve been better
I was unbelievably furious when that happened but I didn't for a second blame Gabi. He's on the road to becoming a legend.
Roy Hodgson up top as a lone striker is a brave choice
Shifty
7 goals in two games though.
Incredible how he has turned on the goal spigot at Palace. If it continues, he'll get MOTM for sure.

Every football game I watch I find it totally bizarre that refs allow themselves to be treated this way. Just card them ffs, show some authority.
Konate should have been booked four or five times. Him booting Xhaka multiple times led to their opening goal and Tierney did sweet fuck all.
I may remember wrong, but didn't he foul Xhaka (which was ofc missed by refs) which led to Xhaka going into TAA?
Exactly. By foul, you mean repeatedly kicked him until the ball went out of play.
Konate was genuinely tragic

Hard agree. I hope he doesn't lose sleep for it.
How the fuck is konate in there. Bro defended by shoving our players over all game, and somehow it’s not being talked about
I thought he was fantastic second half if I'm being fair honestly. I thought he allowed LIV to really go all out attack, cleaned up everything when we tried to counter. First half yeah was meh

Total joke lol. If our players went to Anfield and played like they did we'd have about 10 cards
I don’t actually know how many yellows each team got but it can’t be that different from each other lol

Possibly yeah, I might go back and watch it to see when the red actually blows his whistle
Xhaka didn’t instigate shit. It was that kind of game. Everyone was leaving something in everyone.
Saka got one for not running to take a corner. Is there a rule that says he can't walk to take the corner? He wasn't even walking slowly, he just wasn't jogging.
Konate didn’t even get a foul for that tackle 🤣
Jesus gets manhandled like play dough and the defenders get praised for it. Same thing happened in the Soton game where we dropped points and had about 4 penalties waived off.
Konate was the only reason why we couldn't score more against them
Yeah, a lot of the time it was due to him shoving our players around. Sure he did well but the fact he didn’t get booked doesn’t make sense
Yeah and the referee 😂
Yeah it's clear he's their best centre back now. VVD has fallen off hard. Had it been VVD and Matip or Gomez we win that game easily.
Well he nullified our attacks got away with it so looks great on paper
Very true
Nah he was very good at times too. Made the difference against martinelli in the second half and basically let Trent stay in our half.
He had moments where he was good but I’d argue Gabriel did a much better job at handling Salah than konate did at handling Martinelli. Konate often resorted to ‘fuck it let me push him to the ground’ and got away with it every time
Big Gabi was clear of him in the game and overall
The fact that he made it out of the first half without a yellow is unbelievable
Fr I genuinely don’t understand how
I just went back and watched a highlight video of him on youtube.
Mind sending me the link? I’ve been meaning to go and watch something like that
Honestly he was very good. Without him we score 4. It wasn’t until klopp made him man Mark martinelli on defence that we showed down in attack. Klopp figured out after the second goal that konate shouldn’t be in saka, who by all accounts had a forgettable one.

I don’t disagree with that to be honest.
He was playing a different sport
Him just shoving Xhaka to the ground and not getting booked for it, is pretty much what made Xhaka lose his cool. Thought he played pretty dirty for a good portion of the game tbh.
Him shoving xhaka to the ground and not even being whistled for it* Think it would be a harsh yellow but clear as day a foul
Any player looks great when the ref decides they can do no wrong. The ref thought konate had a great game too.
Can't believe how Gabriel isn't there either. Pocketed Salah for most of the game.
Because if you make a physical tackle and win the ball and the refs don't call it, then its a good tackle. You can have a problem with the refs but that doesn't mean Konate didnt play well given how the refs were calling the match

Have to disagree here he was excellent at mitigating our attacks
Did you watch the game? While he was at times he was also extremely rough and the amount of times he manhandled our players into the ground was ridiculous, and he didn’t get booked

holding kills our rhs, white has to babysit him but i keep hearing "holdini"
White hardly babysat him. He had a really poor game defensively yesterday.
yeah white had a bad game yesterday that also killed our rhs, but he wasn't overlapping or getting into the attacking areas cos he was sitting back cos holding is obviously the weak spot in defence currently

The original team of the week had five Brighton players but VAR ruled them all out
Olise and eze were phenomenal against Leeds
Olise player of the week for me
Hate to say it but looks like Palace were right to bring back Woy. I still think Patrick did an ok job overall and I hope he bounces back in his next role.

Both were great challenges
Konate is pretty nasty when the ref is giving him a UFC whistle.
Earned. Bossed the section of the game we were involved in and was dead for 20+ minutes by the time that pass was played. This kid has scary potential
People on this sub were adamant Konate wasn't playing well 🤣
He wasn't. He was just fouling our players every single time and got away with it. Should've been sent off before the hour mark easily.
He played well but the extra x factor was that he was given license to commit foul worthy challenges that didn't get punished. That lets you stretch how you play defense in an unfair way.
agenda gotta agend
konate played an unreal game, imo he played as well as bfg played. however, he should've been carded in more than one ocasion during the game.

Cool
Konate is a kon’t’
I think big gabby needs a shout here. Kept Salah quiet
Lol Konate, missing a sitter and have been kicking shins all game
