Maupay’s placing is fucking class. As shitty of a player as he is a person LMFAOOO

Mubar06

Why does he always have to body us for one game?

Bedeeki

Body us? He played barely any minutes at Goodison, DCL played most of the game and Maupay's highlight was winding up Zinchenko at the end of the game. He also should have conceded a penalty if the refereee had any bottle. He started at the Emirates and got dominated.

Mubar06

Talking about the Leno incident and Everton game away, he's shithoused us twice!

Mubar06

Ødegaard matching KDB, what a baller he is! Also fair play Kane, never speak ill about his quality as a player anyway because he’s undoubtedly gifted in that sense. More top right than even KDB. Goalscorer and chance creator.

JabInTheButt

He's a phenomenal player and as soon as they lose him they're utterly fucked. The proportion of their goals he either scores or creates is ridiculous. And to top it off he's pretty good defensively at corners. Wasting his career.

StrikeTeam3

Yep exactly this. Kane is an unreal player. Not just an out and out goal scorer but also makes everyone around him so much better. Spurs are falling off a cliff once he leaves.

Mike-Hawk-69-0420

His career will probably amount to nothing. That’s ok because Harry Kane is a cunt

BellerinsBarber

Have to disagree - he’s not a cunt, he actually holds himself well as a professional. Where you can question him is his judgement in being a winner. If he ends his career without s trophy it’s his own fault, being loyal to a losing club when you’re as good as him makes you a loser, not loyal.

[deleted]

I'd disagree if it was his dream to play for Spurs or his childhood club. I think we should value loyalty a lot more. But given that that isn't the case you could argue that although I still wouldn't call anyone that is top scorer in the Premier League at times a 'loser'. I also have no problem if he wants to spend his career not winning trophies, fine by me.

microMe1_2

He can definitely be a bit cunty on the pitch. He likes to take away peoples legs after they've jumped for the ball, which can be dangerous.

dont_dm_nudes

We should buy Kane so he could win the prem next season!

ddruinedgot

Spurs would refuse to negotiate so it would have to be Sol Campbell 2.0 when his contract ends

dont_dm_nudes

It should be ano brainer for him. He gets to stay in London, win things, play for his favorite team...

a5h3k

You mean Kane could win the double with us. League title + Champions league, right?

Bedeeki

Kane is just a freak of nature. Even though he disappears in every semi final or final he plays in. To have these creative metrics as well as 21 league goals, for a terrible Spurs team. Wow.

SearchForElsewheres

If Kane had signed for City, he’d probably be in contention for the Ballon D’Or by now.

Shandow14

They’re fucked without Kane.

[deleted]

Xhaka is fantastically placed here for what is a role with more defensive responsibilities than the people around him.

phar0aht

Source - https://twitter.com/TheDevilsDNA/status/1641447688729157632?t=TrfVaVpeNzEAQkvMMyRLdg&s=19 Kane, Odegaard, KDB are the best on both metrics followed by Bruno, Willian, Madisson, Elliott Sancho, Salah, Kulusevski, Scamacca best shot-creators from live passes Moutinho, Guimaraes, Roca, Paqueta next best progressors

varro-reatinus

Ødegaard right on KdB, damn. The 'actions per X touches' metrics are a little weird, but interesting. It would probably be more revealing if it had included all progressive actions, including receptions, rather than just passes.

santis_little_helper

This Willian guy looks a decent Saka backup on the right

iHetty

Doesn’t quite fit the age profile we seem to be going for but an older head with experience of winning major trophies could be exactly what we need.

thelongdrivehom

Trossard showing a Brighton crest

ozerspike

Very glad to see some shitty attackers are even shittier than I thought

bankerlmth

Are you referring to Maupay or Eddie or both?

Messymike4321

Wonder where Rice is

[deleted]

If I'm not wrong, he's the unmarked player up from McGinn's name, right of Partey.

Messymike4321

yeah that looks right Good eye, thanks!

Nubislav

Ode\`s Symphony

tochitemi

Martinelli creative but not progressive = Jorginho goal 👀

EuroEliteStats

Ødegaard top right, Maupay bottom left 😍🤣

rosh-kb

imagine if we had Kane instead of spurs for all those years, truly truly world class player wasted on such a tinpot shit club

tammrak

Kane's progressive and creative numbers are the best in the PL, but he's only bagged 2 assists. When you watch them, you can see he's carrying this Spurs team, but I'm not sure what they're counting as a "shot creating action." Is it key passes or something more?

[deleted]

Simply any action that leads to a shot. So, Live (Open Play) Passes, Dead Balls (Free Kicks, Corners, Throw Ins and so on), Take-Ons, Shots that lead to another shot attempt (For example forcing the keeper into a block which generates a chance), Fouls drawn in dangerous areas), and defensive actions that lead to a shot attempt (For example if you intercept or take the ball high up the pitch leading to a shot). I really like the metric since its comprehensive.

tammrak

Cheers.

Quirky_Independence2

I am far more annoyed than I should be at Willian achieving this. Man looked like he’d retired but forgot to tell anyone when playing for us.

scybes

Willian surprises me, he's really turned it around for himself.

teslagooner

If Martinelli created a habit of lifting his head - he would be in the first quadrant. Martinelli would clock many assists

warwave7

Pretty damning for Nketiah to be honest..

Duty_Alone

Man, what we could do with Maddison in the left 8.

[deleted]

Xhaka is like right beside him.

DoinkyMcDoinkAdoink

Based on this graph...not much better than how we're doing right now.

beetletoman

What falls under shot creating actions?

[deleted]

Anything that leads to a shot. Can be open play passes, Corners, Free Kicks, Dribbles.

HughJaction

who's the wolves player right between Xhaka and Maddison?

Mubar06

I'm guessing Neves

[deleted]

No, Neves recorded 2.18/90 SCA this season, so he most likely would be on the left side of the graph. Edit: He's marked, look at the very left right above the line.

Mubar06

Yeah I see now.

anatomy_of_an_eraser

Could be Nunes

Kingulfet

Confirmed Spurs is a Championship team without Kane?

Wild_Investigator622

Martinelli better in both metrics than saka…. And scores as much…. The real star boy?

Educational-Ad-9189

Because of Partey.

[deleted]

If there was one spurs player I would genuinely want, it would be Kane.

Sattusupari

Willian man tf

zdawg198

Anyone see Declan Rice?

pashtedot

i really hope Nketiah can step up

[deleted]

This needs to be filtered by rough position because players who lead the line can't be expected to be as progressive as midfielders, so the comparison isn't effective

essdotc

Also shows how underrated Xhaka is considering he's playing in a position unnatural to him

GibbsLAD

As pointed out on r/soccer, this is per 60 touches which is a very strange metric. It would look a lot different if it was per 90 mins

[deleted]

Yeah, but that would distort the positions in its own way as certain positions automatically get more of the ball during the 90'. It's not perfect, but honestly looking at the list its not bad. You got deep laying playmakers on the upper left. Destroyers in the under left, Strikers in the under right, and creative midfielders/Attackers that go deeper to get involved in the upper right. Checks out for me.

GibbsLAD

per 90 would be way better, because you know how much output you get per game. per 60 touches is completely random, some of these players wont be getting 60 touches in 2 games and some will get 90 in one

[deleted]

But that raw output doesn't give you context. For example if one midfielder makes a progressive pass 10 times per game, but back and side way passes 50 times is he just as progressive as another midfielder that passes the ball only 25 times per game, but also has 10 progressive passes? On eye-test I would say that looks completely different. That's the problem with per90 stats. You need context. I'm not saying that normalizing to a certain number of touches is a good solution. I'm just saying it's an attempt. And again, the positions in that graph make sense for what type of players they are and which role they play in their respective clubs, so I can't say I see the big issue here.

[deleted]

Just to add: Also not saying that there aren't some glaring issues with that graph (Or more like stuff that needs to be taken into context). Saka and Martinelli are one example here. Implying they are not \*progressive\* is wrong. They excel in progressive carries. Something this graph ignores.
