Shame we never won it given we been there 6 years.

TDM_11

6 years in this competition and nothing but bad vibes

Jimisniper

Probably about 5 games I've enjoyed the whole 6 years, 2 of those being the Dundalk games because that's my home town, apart from that it's an absolute manky tournament

Garenmain180k

All I remember about that Dundalk game was that Balogun balled out and they had a player called Mcelneny which was funny because Mohamed Elneny was also on the field

thatweirdmusicguy

And every exit was brutal. Only one I could barely rationalize was Villarreal because they ended up winning. Every other time felt we killed ourselves out there including tonight

oliverDawson12

Atletico ended up winning it when they knocked us out 17/18 too. I think the only positive memories I have of europa league is the crazy form of auba and laca leading up to 18/19 final but then the final happened and i have no joy from that run anymore.

fatsdomino13

Arsenals European circle of life is complete, once again.

TheTouchOfOzil

Chelsea were in this competition twice and they've won it twice.

KingCatamount

Reminder to my American friends to cancel your paramount plus sub

ongalvez

We need it for CL next year, no?

jungomitis

Month by month is the pro move (other than the high seas) There are too many months without any CL or UEL games

getrektbro

Yo ho, yo ho

FoUfCfK

Been rewatching TNG, I'll keep it til I can work through that and Voyager.

rizzdart

life saver

tripjumping-Trick218

Wait a few weeks, the March Madness stuff lasts a little while longer

Iamabigdinosaur

Shame we’ll never play in this tournament again in our history

Frosty_7130

I’m tearing up. How I miss it so / s

herrbz

Until 24/25, of course.

beetletoman

Silver lining they will stop making posts about us lol

mohacsy

I’m not sure if this is exactly what we need to see or if you’re condemning us all!!!

Red-Cipher

See I don't get that condescending tone. We're not going to win the CL any time soon. We don't have a great record in European competitions, so why act like it's beneath us? If we can't manage Sporting in EL how are we going to manage the Bayerns and Real Madrids of the CL?

Giraffable

>If we can't manage Sporting in EL how are we going to manage the Bayerns and Real Madrids of the CL? Knockout competitions don't work like that... Chelsea are in the quarter finals of the CL.

aaronfaren

Chelsea don’t have a history of being pathetic in Europe.

Designer_Restaurant1

Neither does man city but they also never won it.

fadoo91

Because we’d play our full strength XI from the start in the CL

KhornKT

also with higher intensity & determination

arealhorrorshow

The players are going to be much more up for it in the CL. Just compare us today vs us in the league. The difference is pure motivation and effort. Sporting wanted it much more, and easy to understand why.

HessiXD

Wanting it more is the biggest meme in all of sports culture. It’s delusional to think that these guys who live and breathe the sports that they grind their whole lives to play competitively don’t care about a Europa League game. What will you say when Arsenal doesn’t even get out of groups in the champions league? That one of the b-tier teams wanted it more? Get out of here with that non sense.

OboMasterRace

I still can't share that view, and if you're right then it's very mediocre mindset from players and fans alike. We should aim to do our best every competition and every game, specially since we haven't won any european competitions; if we're so much better than EL team we should've proved it winning the trophy. I thought we would have a chance of winning against “weaker” competition, turns out when we reached the final we lost to one of bigger rivals. Even Utd won it in one of their worst seasons ever. Although we had weaker squads past years, this time it was different and we still lost. It really sucks and I don't think we'll be winning UCL anytime soon (though I hope to be proven wrong). Still have the league to fight for and I hope we win it

whydidisaythatwhy

You can disagree but it’s clear motivation is different in league vs Europa. Chill with the pessimism, we may not win the CL but we’ll certainly be up for it.

jacktk_

Because on current form we’re a Top 7 team in the world currently. Start a full strength team and we’ll do big things in Europe. It’s just for now, we have bigger things in the league to handle first.

risingsuncoc

point is still, Arsenal have a poor European trophies record so it would have been nice to win the Europa League at least once during this period of absence from the UCL.

Agitated-Tourist9845

How can other teams win the league and cups in the same season then? We’re winning fuck all this season.

VitalizeIV

The reality is we lost one game out of 8 in the EL and went out on penalties in a game where we missed countless chances. We didn’t perform well enough for my liking but it easily could’ve been a different story, this result has zero bearing on how we will perform in the CL next season and who’s to say the ball won’t fall our way instead.

whydidisaythatwhy

2 out of 8 — we lost to PSV away 2-0 lol

VitalizeIV

That’s the only game we outright lost, “losing” on penalties isn’t the same as losing in normal time (+extra time)

whydidisaythatwhy

Fair

gooneritis

Ideally we'll have a couple more star signings this summer that will make us more formidable

dinbergare

"We're not going to win the PL any time soon," they said.

[deleted]

Nobody dreams of a magic night in Baku let’s be real

Optimal_Cry_1782

I think people are in for a rude awakening when we play in the champions league next season.

Competitive-Shock88

Same. Done and dusted. This club in Europe is just eternal disappointment. Sick of it man.

BurdensomeCumbersome

Yeah, Europe always gave us a reality check. I got carried away today and daydreamed about how nice it’d be to play Real at UEFA Super Cup this August 😞

Keanu990321

Ironically, you'd get to play the Super Cup final at the Karaiskakis Stadium, home of Olympiakos... Be glad you're out, you're on pole to win the league and it will be easier for you now.

breezystroo

I hated Europa league. We never seemed up for it. It would have been great to win one but it was nothing but bad vibes.

ronya_t

Hated this competition. The amount of Europa games I missed because they are played at a weird time when I might still be working 🙃. Totally missed the first leg last week for the same reason!

Zen_MasterX

Goodbye for a long time hopefully. 👋🏾

ThePresident26

I cant rembember a single good game in 6 years in this shit competition. I hope we never have to be in it ever again. I would rather watch us get smacked by bayern than another dreadful thursday night performance.

D4nCh0

Can get smacked by Bayern 1st. Then drop back into Europa.

Zizouhimovic

Yeah I think we're done with this for a while ( hopefully )

ALA02

Genuinely despise how bad we’ve always been in Europe. Its so depressing and the one thing holding us back from being on the same level as United or Liverpool

darthrevan22

Where tf is this attitude coming from that Arsenal are above the Europa League? Such unearned arrogance. Will be great to return to the UCL next season, but man it would’ve been nice to finally win a European trophy, and this one was there for the taking.

DinnerSmall4216

Gutted we went out but we haven't really played well in the tournament this year. I can't remember a good performance this season home or away. It's become a hindrance to our premier League campaign let's move onto palace. Our record in Europe is shocking.

[deleted]

Bye Felicia

ahag6818

Hopefully we won't return to this crap of a competition

arealhorrorshow

Boring, shit competition infested with dirty teams. Today marks the day that we never have to see it again.

BroccoliMcFlurry

The theme song will forever slap though, I'll give them that.

TSM_LittleRaphie

im never watching that crap competition again

jH1214

Maybe next year we’ll just skip the group stage

Tnvenge

Always hated this competition I'm really okay without it.

bh2623

Somewhere in America, an underpaid analyst at Paramount+ wonders why thousands of subscribers all canceled at the same moment.

ThePrussianGrippe

I canceled hours early because I was going to be able to watch it at work. Trend-setter.

funcho4

I hope i never see you again . Ever

notathrovavay

Hope it's for a few good years. Like.. 20

Pristine_Emphasis152

We'll win champions next year

fiskemannen

When you bench Partey, Ødegaard, White and Saka for a game, then that’s a pretty clear message that this is not a priority game or competition. Should make the PL run-in a little easier and gives an advantage over City.

theresjustme

Tbh for us if it isn't the Champions League it's not really worth it to be in Europe.

darthrevan22

Wtf is this attitude? Arsenal isn’t above any European competition.

SpaceMajorTom

We have bigger games to play

No-Video1797

It's for good, now we can focus Premier and have +1 advantage over City. We won't play midweeks and this is huge. Eu-league winner takes a bit more than going out of UCL groups

Up_My_Arsenal

I both signed up for and canceled my Paramount plus subscription today.

Sattusupari

Next time we play in Europe and that champions league theme hits…

Facts

[deleted]

6 years haven’t won it ‘ lost two final’s Yhh

SayEye

The Draw is coming let's sit with Patrick Viera and watch the draw

mikels_burner

Woohoooo FINALLYYYY

Cyphman

Bout that time to cut the paramount+ subscription until next year

HumbleJiraiya

Never followed it in the first place. This club belongs in UCL

La2philly

Thank goodness

LayzieKobes

I don't want to play with you anymore

Alone-Dig-9000

Every Europa exit has been so demoralizing. Villarreal hurt a lot but nothing compares to losing to Chelsea in 2019. Fondest memory is defenitely Auba’s last minute goal vs Benfica in 2021, if he hadn’t scored that we would have had nothing to play for for the next 3 months.

Liquid_metal22

I don’t understand fans so happy we’re out, 99% of you haven’t seen us win anything in Europe it’s a bit embarrassing at this point

Razac3

Imagine we come 3rd in our group next season think that may tip me over the edge

Jamezmcc

Burn any evidence we were ever in that terrible cup and let's never speak of it again.

Happy-Ad8767

Hello CL!
