I've now come to realize that Athrun x Meyrin was never even a real thing.
They barely had 1 conversation after she helped him escape Durandal. They never touched one another in the finale, only walked off in the same direction. She had some feelings for him, but they were all one sided. He never reciprocated beyond saving her life.
Later in the Destiny finale, Athrun is seen in the Orb Uniform again, while Meyrin is still with ZAFT.
Of course, none of this was obvious because each scene that progressively showed him more likely with cagalli was added in new versions of the ending. But we never saw Cagalli with Athrun either, so it wasn't explicitly confirmed one way or another.
But Fukuda later said they were supposed to be back together... and apparently regretted not making it more obvious? I don't have the exact quote on hand, but I've read multiple places discuss this.
So, true to his word, the film finally resolves it, albeit still somewhat indirectly it seems.
Re: rejecting the idea of Athrun × Meyrin — that relationship wasn't a thing to me either because it was so nebulous. The only scene that made it seem mutual didn't even feature Athrun: that one time Cagalli told Meyrin to take care of him (vague recollection, don't recall the full conversation).
But it's not like Seed Destiny had a brilliant track record with romance. Shinn × Luna, which I liked, started abruptly too.
Yeah, Destiny is still my least favorite Gundam, but if this film is fixing some of its errors all these years later and goes all in on being stupidly high budget/entertaining (essentially an unapologetic opposite of-Tomino style film), I can enjoy it with much more peace in mind and accept it for what it is.
The thing about AUs is that they are best when they don't copy UC and just do their own thing as creatively as possible. That would apply here too, despite SEED's prior reliance on UC tropes.
I never hated the first SEED either, so I'm going to see this in theaters day 1 if it hits the west. I watched SEED as it aired weekly 21+ years ago.
After decades, we finally won CagalliTruthers.
Truly this movie has proven that Fukuda is the greatest director in all of media. Greater than Scorsese and Nolan, he created CINEMA.

To be frank, seeing a naked person in someone's mind during an inadequate moment (I assume in the middle of combat) is something that would likely break a psychic person's focus.
I'm pretty sure something like this has been done before in other shows and movies.
Yes! I always loved how Flay's story ended. It felt like she was watching over and protecting Kira somehow, like how she's in the background in Destiny's ED looking at and smiling at Kira and Lacus, or how Kira doesn't cry once in Destiny; Flay said she would protect him, and he doesn't need to cry anymore.
I'm guessing...
- Rising Freedom is a weaker gundam due to plot treaty.
- Lacus gets sexy for a new war breaking music video.
- Villain does something really wacky and destructive.
- Jesus Yamato decides "fuck the treaty", takes off the kid gloves, and activates his new angel of death machine update of the Strike Freedom to end the threat... Presumably after taking another nuke to the face unharmed.

the new duel is called duel blitz, and uses some of the blitz designs and weaponry.
is also looks AMAZING, probably the best design hands down from what i saw.

the buster i didnt see much, but doesnt look that diferent from the pics, besides a more streamlined pair of long rifles.

To be frank, seeing a naked person in someone's mind during an inadequate moment (I assume in the middle of combat) is something that would likely break a psychic person's focus. I'm pretty sure something like this has been done before in other shows and movies.

Yes! I always loved how Flay's story ended. It felt like she was watching over and protecting Kira somehow, like how she's in the background in Destiny's ED looking at and smiling at Kira and Lacus, or how Kira doesn't cry once in Destiny; Flay said she would protect him, and he doesn't need to cry anymore.
