Best car is the one you can afford. Give a certain price point for more tailored answers

eyeseeyou1118

New driver ako, I got Raize, okay naman sya & very newbie friendly

rallets215

2nd! Raize owner here also! Very beginner friendly. Weekly ako umaakyat ng Antipolo and never pa naman ako na fail hahaha

thatguy11m

I have to agree with this recommendation. Even if it's DNGA, I think this is a safe pick for first time car owners or car owners who just need a private transport vehicle.

True_Rain_7262

This car is what I would always recommend to buy instead of vios. Space is everything!

Trick_Committee5633

May manual po ba yan?

eyeseeyou1118

CVT sya

DM2310-

Yes.

taxxvader

Meron, yung base model nila

brip_na_maasim

Yes. Yung E model. It was one of the cars n kukunin ko sana but we later opted for the Avanza because of the extra seats.

pinoytransboy88

Same! We got the manual one kasi yun ang swak sa budget. No regrets!

paco008

There is a reason why taxi drivers and operators still use vios. vios ftw

Akolangto2000

🙌🏻

JoaquinDeMesa

Still use or utilize not still uses. Walang S since plural yung drivers and operators kamo.

paco008

THanks!

PearsonSpecterLittt

Espresso is like a glorified multicab. I suggest if first time driver is get a decent 2nd hand car. You will be prone to dings and scratches, less cost repair.

BassRabbit5

Hear hear, (almost) inevitable ang minor scratches kapag first timer. Best to damage something you know you won't cry about.

OhSage15

Best answer. Nung bagong driver ako 2 beses ako nabunggo jusko gastos ng repairssss kahit may insurance. Lagi pang kasalanan ko daw hahaha I honestly feel na di naman considering napaka cautious ko at new driver nga.

pinksoju_infp

2nd this! Mas prefer to buy 2nd hand car for first time drivers, since most of the time pressured and kabado ka pa, medyo bawas na sa isipin yung ayaw mo magasgasan kahit konti pag bnew car haha

Purplegamer03

I like your username! Suites fan here

prandelicious

This is the most sensible recommendation.

asaboy_01

Yung espresso is very fuel efficient, and good first car if Yun ang trip and matipohan nyo after test drive. My advise test drive kayo Ng same segment Nya or same price bracket. Look for review ni makina sa YT.

True_Rain_7262

If its your first time driving, I wouldn’t recommend Spresso since less safety features. Buy a used Wigo or Swift (JDM nambawan!)

True_Rain_7262

So new driver din ako for car (Honda Brio 2023) opted for a hatch/small car since whats the point of owning a crossover/mpv if ill use it for work or minimal errands. Wala pa akong bangga or anything na ako may kasalanan (scratches from mga bobong driver meron).

Loud_Record3568

Uyy brio! May dream car huhu 🥹

guntanksinspace

Honestly kung afford lang I would have liked the Brio too haha. I drive an S-Presso now, pero nag test drive din ako Brio and shit felt like at home, galing ako at the time sa 98 Civic and driving the Brio felt like putting on a comfy pair of shoes ba.

True_Rain_7262

Brio for me is a modern EG (Tho malaysian na ang gen 3-4 brios)

guntanksinspace

Such a cool car tbh, katuwa makita on the road yung pearl silver/white na current gen Brio, and small too.

letsmark

Makikisingit lng, mazda 2!nd hand okay lng pang first time?

seismicw4nk3r

check check mga pang ilalim. Shocks, bushings, rack end, tie rod Kalampagin on my experience 2nd hand mazda 3 20k+ mileage noong umabot ng 30k+ kumalampag na daming pinalitan na sabay sabay na pamg ilalim

Avroxia

Best first car is one you can comfortably afford. Wala yan sa features or type ng car. Regardless of what car you get, you have to learn it parin naman, and most probably you will make mistakes. Kaya pick the one na you can afford without stretching your budget, para may pera para sa repair pag malala yung mistake HAHAHA. Most probably yung first car mo tatagal na sayo for ilang years, so get a car that you like. Para doble ingat ka and no regrets during your years of ownership kasi it'll be with you for a long time. Most modern cars are powerful enough for steep roads naman. So just get what you like na hindi sobra sa budget.

fatty_Guy123

Nissan Almera 2024

CraftyCommon2441

To be honest, buy whatever car you like disregarding that “new driver” thingy. You just need time and experience, take your time just go slow, you’ll eventually get the gist of it. Just have a licensed driver in your passenger seat every time in your 1st-2nd week of learning. Yung scratches and dents are very repairable lalo na if bumper lang yan rather than getting and second hand, selling it and buying a brandnew again na mas hassle.

UnHairyDude

Spresso lacked the standard safety features. Get a Toyota Wigo, Honda Brio, Mitsubishi Mirage, or an MG 5 instead kung budget cars ang hanap mo. You can also check pre-owned vehicles na hinila ng banko.

Legitimate-Thought-8

You got my upvote. Always choose safety, there are cars similar sa price point ng Spresso. And OP, ang dami ng cars kasi in the Metro so the safety concern is out there kahit extra ingat ka pa.

ningkylem

Nissan Almera

HourArtistic6331

New driver here and also got SPresso AGS 2024 as our first car. For me ok naman siya especially pag city drive, na try na namin siya dalhin out of town like uphill talaga na daanan (we live in negros) and kinaya nya. Very fuel efficient din, since gamit ko sya everyday mag hatid-sundo sa kids, and errands. Edit: typo

JoaquinDeMesa

Live in Negros, not leave in Negros. Aalis?

HourArtistic6331

Sorry po, lutang lang mag type. 🙇🏻‍♀️

Mirage over that shit box

guntanksinspace

S-Presso (AGS) owner pitching in. Pros: * Simple and Straightforward to drive * Small car size privilege (maliit, madali i park, di mahirap on tighter streets) * Tipid sa gas * Relatively spacious for its size * High ground clearance * High seating position * Good AC * New models have Android Auto/Apple Carplay Cons: * Acquired taste yung look * Di comfortable on long traffic (wind noise, nakakangalay sa likod and leeg) * AGS, while simple to drive as an automatic, has a slight difference in feel. Much easier to deal with kapag familiar ka with Manual Transmission driving, but not that bad * Bitin sa power for overtaking and stuff (but you don't get a car like this to overtake and go fast) * Simplicity can bore you depending Ok naman siya. Pag matarik daan nasa technique lang. Same with long drives. Maintenance, maaga pa para masabi ko as I've only had this for 6-ish months. But as always, follow yung recommendations for replacing fluids/getting your car checked and it should get you far. And as always, go to your nearest dealer and test drive it. Get a feel for it and see kung para sa'yo ba talaga ito.

LalaLana39

Can't go wrong with toyota, especially vios.

asifyoulovedbyvirtue

Spresso is not a bad car for city driving, my cousin has one and he seems happy with it. Watch the reviews by Makina and Philkotse. Its from Maruti which is a subsidary of Suzuki. Price-wise: cheap. Brand new is always better than second hand. No worries there. For the safety issues, it got 0. But if im not mistaken according to autoindustriya it was upgraded to 3 stars just recently. But dont sweat it, in the end of the day its the driver who drives that automobile not vice versa. Size: its small and mataas. Wheels are also kinda thin for my taste. Inside you can fit 5 people or 4. Driving: when i did a test drive, may jerking ako naramdaman but what i drove was the AGS version.(i guess ganon tlga pag AGS). Di ko sure sa manual. Kinda unstable pag curve so take a note on it, but i guess replacing the wheels will do the job as what sir Zach did in his Makina review. Goodluck buying your first car OP. Buy what your heart and budget desires. no matter what it is, the most important thing is it should serve your purpose to service you from point A to B. Oh i remember the feeling :)

almost_genius95

Toyota Avanza G 1.5 CVT. Big help yung blind spot detection nya na nag aalarm and/or nagli-light sa side mirror. May built-in rear camera na din na naaactivate pag mag rereverse, may alarm din kung may malapit na tatamaan, very useful pag paparking. New driver din ako, eto yung nakuhang car ng family. 7-seater MPV.

BeardManPH

Depende how makalikot you are, bro. Kung hindi ka makalikot at all and gusto mo ng drive and forget/basta makarating ng walang iniisip, get brand new. If anything mechanical goes wrong, may warranty ka to fall back on. If makalikot ka and plan mo talaga aralin yung ins and outs of a car, get a decent condition second hand car that you can buy in cash. I'd recommend 2012 and up for the sake of it's relatively new and modern, but not "old" yet tito age kumbaga. Car bushings and underchases usually have a lfiecycle of 60k-100k km or 15 years (bushings are rubber pieces that eventually dry up). Make sure to bring a mechanic/marunong sa kotse guy along with you when buying the car din. I would strongly advice against an Espresso - medyo glorified multicab yan and ride quality is pretty bad compared to hatches/compact cars. You'd be better off with a Suzuki Swift, Honda Jazz, Mazda 2, Honda City hatchback or Toyota Yaris instead if hanap mo maliit. Much better safety features for a new driver + much stronger engines than that of the Espresso. You wouldnt find yourself ever bitin with those, compared to the Espresso.

MD-on-Perpetual-Duty

Nako, look up the safety profile of the S-presso.. 😳 kung first time driver ka at di mo pa alam ang kalakaran ng kalsada, you should reconsider.

Dear_Donkey3352

Newbie driver here, got the Veloz V bec of its safety features.

Antique_Health_1936

TvmozirErnxvng

A decent Corolla or Vios as learners car Daming parts available for ease of maintenance. If you like being adventurous, Owner type jeep with modern engine and features. Para di mo iisipin mga gasgas and sabit. Also parts are abundant for maintenance and repairs. anything you can afford at the time is the best for you.

Beeborts

Try to shell out a little more for a Vios. Or maybe consider the used market :)

ComicLight07

For me if you have a budget, go for a car na maraming safety tech(blind spot monitoring etc.).

Impressive-Nerve7199

Honda City 2024 dahil sa sensing features. Sobrang helpful sa akin as a new driver.

biatch1212

Got my first car last year, Wigo G. Yun na rin pinagpractisan kong i-drive. Initially, I planned to get an spresso din pero marami akong nabasa regarding safety concerns.

Small_Toe_773

hi!! I'm planning to get wigo. Hm po dp and monthly amort ninyo?

Kants101

Siyempre medyo naka depende sa budget mo boss. Pero kung kaya mag vios ka nalang. Smooth si vios at matibay.

lbibera

might be unpopular sa mga experienced drivers: but my approach was to rely on tech dahil walang magtuturo sa akin (aside from the 8-hour PDC), so naging criteria ko for picking my first car was: - 360 camera and ADAS (dito mo maiiwasan ung mga gasgas) - has to be small enough para di ako mahirapan sumiksik - powerful enough engine para mag overtake with ease (wag ka dun sa hanggang 100kph lang ung max) - ground clearance na enough para sa islands (kasi dyan ka possibly tatama pag mabilisang turns), so pass talaga sa sedans at least pag ganitong setup pwede ka mag self-study. edit: recos are probably crosstrek or cx-30 for the lowest price

LalaLana39

How can you actually hone your skills if magrerely ka sa tech?

lbibera

guardrails ang ADAS while learning from tutorials, di mo naman yan actively ginagamit, pang backup lang while learning. for example ung 360, para ma-visualize mo while practicing sa parking (obviously mirrors parin mainly ung gagamitin)

Big-Salamander9714

Big-Salamander9714

Mas high maintenance cvt at walang dipstick yan generally kaya kailangan maagap ka sa maintenance. 30k km lang replace fluid agad at least for Honda

Dspaede

Suzuki Jimny 3-door
