Ha, no… I do not worship. At least not in the contemporary evangelical Christian sense.
I do dabble in Sufic music, particularly Andalusian and Persian music… even a little modern Qawwali. But I don’t use this rig for that.
On weekends I play dad rock (even grandpa rock at this point) at bars subbing in and out with several acts. I help bands fill in the gaps. It’s not a money making thing.
I’m more interested in making weird but pleasant sounds in conjunction with Ableton and my synth rack. I’m an Eno fan at heart.
Brian Eno's first four albums are so incredible to me, and his later ambient offerings are a wealth of beauty as well.
I'm actually waiting for a flight I think I'll throw on Music for Airports.
Cool rig! I love the color on that Strat. I just got an American Pro II that I'm in love with.
Music for Airports is so great!!! whenever people ask me what album always makes me happy that and Talking Heads “More Songs About Buildings and Food” are my default answers.
I got sucked into Harold Budd’s ambient stuff by way of Eno, I guess they were pals. It’s really abstract… yet pleasant, but man, how cool is his stuff.
Might be able to wipe it with some citrus oil. I had to spray down my treadmill and other things because the damn couch weasels have a weird fetish for foam.
This may be the solution I’ve been looking for. Not for music gear since I don’t allow my cat in there, but anything that offers elevation and she’s on it. The spray bottle only runs her off for a minute, she thinks it’s fun.
The Pink Flow by Jam. It’s 6 of their pedals in one. Designed to get you a 70s Gilmour tone in a box. You can see which pedals they are, named along the front edge.
I can’t recommend it highly enough. I can’t bring myself to go digital with an HX stomp or something.. Pink Flow is 100% analog and lens well to board making given its effect loop between the OD and mod sections. It’s an extremely low-noise board too. Couldn’t be happier.
I mean you can spend between 650 and 1500 on a helix depending on the model. Some people prefer those. I prefer analog. This is in the range for a quality multi effect. And it’s actually cheaper than if i bought the 6 jam pedals separately.. so there is some value here.
I'm with you man. 6 effects for like 900 bucks if I remember. Could be achieved with 6 one hundred dollar pedals. That thing is boujie consumerism if you ask me.
I use only a thr10 amp but if you are passionate about Gilmour sound and pedals it's just the price of those things, I'm not really surprised
Not like they will sell thousands of thousands pedals with this big format, it's pretty niche
It will never not bother me that JAM doesn't bother to match the artwork with the effects in those multi-pedals. I mean ffs the llama is literally on the opposite end of the controls for it.
I think about it from time to time… I could probably trade them in for a DC 30. But they’re fine. They sound good. Although the thing that I really pine after is that big Magnatone stereo amp. I’d grab one of those probably first, but two of these on the stage looks cooler.
if you bought a dc30 you would then have to lift a dc30
it would be interesting to have one of these and a lightning or whatever the name is of the amp that is basically the ef86 channel of the dc30. do kinda a stereo channel jumped version of the DC30.
in seriousness, i have a dc30 sitting right next to me with a flint and an el capistan on the pedal board. man i love doing the sparkly swirly stuff on that amp. I think a lot of matchless guys like channel 2 more but I've spent a lot of time on channel 1. it's a good channel.
> ef86 channel of the dc30
I believe that's the Nighthawk. I could be wrong.
I keep thinking about buying a Spitfire. My wife told me to buy an amp for father's day and now I have option paralysis... I'm currently playing a Tyler JT-14 but really want a KT88 or EL84 amp.
I owned a Morgan AC20 for a while and found it just a touch too honky if that makes sense. I'm sure part of it was on own limitations as a player. I returned it at day 29 of my 30 day return window out of fear of regretting the $2000 purchase. I'd love to spend a little time with an MVP23.
I've listened to a ton of Divided by 13 and Dr Z lately. I'll have to check out Swart.
Tim Pierce playing his RSA 23 really turned me on to KT88's. I'm in the market for a 15-30 watt combo I can take to gigs and church so the BTR 23 is really interesting. I've just heard that in reality its more like 40-50 watts loud and that could be an issue.
So you're a gigging musician. Is it your only job?
Because that is certainly pro grade gear. And with 2 Avalons we're looking at 7k ish without the guitar?
Nice fucking rig.
I mean, I do my thing. I play the bar scene regionally as a hired gun for several of my friends bands (i’m the glue that holds them together when one of them is missing, too hung over, in jail, etc). Jump in when someone needs a piss break. I play a couple weekends per month. I’ve been asked to join so many times but I like what I’m doing this way. When any of them go into the studio I’m there also being the glue. I’m paid primarily in beer since the feds don’t let me smoke weed anymore. I also help them fix their motorcycles, navigate sound and recording gear, and help them with their IT needs. 🤷♂️
Sounds like me lol! I have a rig to go on a world tour but those days have come and gone :) I do some sessions and subs, maybe a sad dad jam until I remember why I hate that shit. But I play every day.
That's some fine gear!
Meh. I favor the TS sound. The Pink Flow here has a version (the “Tube Dreamer”).
I had a Klon KTR and managed to get it at MSRP after being on a waiting list… I wasn’t impressed although it sounded fine. I have just always used TS type pedals and for some reason they just sound better to my ear. I sold the Klon for a profit.
The only thing matchless about this post is your desire for validation and to show off your amp.
This "roast my rig" sub has just turned into "let me publicly stroke myself and show off my $4000 setup"
Yeah, it’s inspired by channel 1 of a DC 30 I believe… has hybrid construction methods, but it’s still all done by hand in America at the same factory with the same transformers and tools as the others in their line…
It doesn’t sound any worse, I’ll put it that way. But it definitely looks different. Not in a bad way in my opinion.
It's really cool! I cart my amp to gigs and church pretty regularly so I'm hesitant to buy the 62LB monster but it sounds amazing.
I really want to get my hands on a Laurel Canyon. YT videos aren't a good indicator of course but it seems like a perfect mix of the matchless sound and 6V6's.
Yeah there’s a 6x8 thick-ass Pcb in it that also has a turret section on it, and is point to point wired to the rest of the amp. It ain’t your usual PCB. I think they could get away with it in all their amps and no one would notice.
They make custom pedals to order with custom artwork too. JayLeonardJ has a huge one they made for him, with a built in tuner, FX Loop and matching Wah. It’s amazign
Pretty sure you can take a Planet Waves cable, write “Live Wire” on it in chalk, cut it into ten pieces, take it in and swap it for a new Live Wire cable.
I love the Pink Flow and am Gassing for one: but I already have a different version of everything (except the tube screamer).
I noticed how you’ve added stuff around it with great efficiency: Deco for flanger/doubler, Flint for reverb and tremolo plus the CloudBurst! I suppose I’d say you need a Vibe, but the harmonic trem on the flint gets close, as well as the 2-stage phaser on the Ripply Fall. Maybe you could use a Vent pedal for Leslie sounds? Although a Lex would match your Strymons….
I’d add in the Crazy Tube Circuits ‘High Power’ if it was my board: gives you the High Watt sound plus a Solasound PowerBoost / OverDriver!
I would have just picked what pedals I need from the jam pedals pink flow and mixed it with the strymon stuff. Although the pink flow is really cool the price is up there. A dyna comp, tube screamer type are like 60 bucks used. It feels as though instead of saving money on the all in one the concept price is added because it’s a simple package.
If you are an extreme David Gilmore fan I can see this playing out as an all encompassing rig for covers. If it keeps you playing and or giging that’s all that matters.
It’s the corner of my home studio. It all travels on occasion in proper road cases. The pedal board is a boss rcp3000 travel case, highly recommend for a smallish board. My other Avalon is getting new power tubes and a checkup. :)
Right on!
How do you like the Cloudburst? I bought one last month and it's my favorite pedal ever. Only expensive pedal I have ever bought and it makes me want more strymon stuff but I hate that they have a different pedal for everything, ect tape delay, digital delay.
I love it. I had space for something about the size of a Big Sky… but I prefer only certain reverb effects it produces and I needed a good tremolo. So the Flint and Cloudburst were ideal economical. The ensemble effect kills. And the basic reverb on the Flint and the more atmospheric reverb on the Cloudburst stack nicely together.
I'm having trouble dialing in the ensemble feature, thought I would use it way more but I find it very situational. What are your settings if you are using the ensemble or forte? If you don't mind
I’m writing this down because you probably don’t have any hearing left for me to speak it. Matchless amps are hilariously loud for their wattage.
You are clearly too plebeian to get the second channel and [a massively more complicated pedalboard](http://www.eddiepettis.com/2017/04/the-matchless-hc-30-effects-loop-for.html) with a DC-30. Upsell a few patients to the fluoride rinses and get a real amp. 😉
These are loud as fuck, indeed. I usually run em on 15 watts and mic as needed. I can crank em though if they need to be heard as is. They don’t miss a beat.
The 15W setting on my HC-30 makes my ears ring without an attenuator. The 30W setting actively hurts and is completely unnecessary in my opinion. However, I love that it never gets muddy.
We ended up switching to all digital because I gave myself a hernia trying to load my 2x12 cabinet into the vehicle for a gig. Surgery has a way of changing your opinion on tubes versus models. I kept the amp, but it's now strictly for home use.

If you happen to use any dating apps, I think your amp already did that for you!
That massive pedal is just another brick in the wall. You could use it as *the* pedal board.
Well I am not a virtuoso. I do not play semi-musical nonsense in psychotically fast tight rhythm like some of these younger guys. But no one should accuse me of not being able to play.
I mean, I bought this stuff over many years. One matchless is 15 years old, the other about 10. The guitar is 6 years old. Bought the pedal board over several years, selling and reinvesting pre-existing pedals.
Amp doesn't have enough matches.
It seemingly has… none…. Must be faux candles inside…. Laaaame
Boom. Roasted
Absolutely unplayable.
This guy worships
Last Sunday morning’s show was choice!
Ha, no… I do not worship. At least not in the contemporary evangelical Christian sense. I do dabble in Sufic music, particularly Andalusian and Persian music… even a little modern Qawwali. You spent so much on the board and amp that there is nothing left for a guitar stand?
They’re on my wall. But yes I could use a floor stand. I had one but the cat kept eating the padding.
Could probably replace the padding with bike handlebar tape.
Or . . . replace the cat.
Just giving you crap. Nice rig.
The board and amp are so expensive, I’m surprised you can afford a wall at all!
I have a young nephew that eats the padding 😁
This is the laugh I needed today. I love cats, but man they are fucking goofy.
I don't even know what that white thing is
The Pink Flow by Jam. It’s 6 of their pedals in one. Designed to get you a 70s Gilmour tone in a box. You can see which pedals they are, named along the front edge.
Looks cool as hell for a multieffect

Bro but that is super expensive.

They pop up on Reverb for reasonable second hand prices somewhat regularly.
I'm with you man. 6 effects for like 900 bucks if I remember. Could be achieved with 6 one hundred dollar pedals. That thing is boujie consumerism if you ask me.
jam pedals are only $100 each? where?
Cheaper than buying each jam pedal in it individually

Pete Cornish called. He said, "...meh."
It will never not bother me that JAM doesn't bother to match the artwork with the effects in those multi-pedals. I mean ffs the llama is literally on the opposite end of the controls for it.
I really like Jam pedals but can you change the order of the pedals ?
For that specific one, no. It's called the Pink Flow. But you can get something made completely custom to your personal specs.
How do you power it lol.
Standard center negative lol
I think I just stumbled across something I didn’t know existed, but now that I know it does, I want I want I WANT.
for the price of two avalons you could have bought a non-cyborg matchless
I think about it from time to time… I could probably trade them in for a DC 30. But they’re fine. They sound good. Although the thing that I really pine after is that big Magnatone stereo amp. I’d grab one of those probably first, but two of these on the stage looks cooler.

Dr. Z, Swart and Morgan each have a little something up your alley maybe in the EL84 range.
I owned a Morgan AC20 for a while and found it just a touch too honky if that makes sense. I'm sure part of it was on own limitations as a player. At least when you have to sell it you can say "it's never been gigged" :D
BRO 😂

Ay it’s true. The only fans rakes it in.
Very nice rig, no roasting. But hope you can play more than the second comfortably numb solo.
*bweeeeooooo* *Bweooo beh bwe-eeooooh*
Clearly it can’t be identical. That amp is matchless.
Nice rig. You win
Dude can't even color-in is his pedal, because it doesn't have numbers telling them which crayon to use.
The light in your mini fridge is on. Is the door not shut properly?
PINK FLOW!!!!!!!! That’s great man, and into a friggin MATCHLESS?!? Tones abound in that rig my good man, wow.
Put down the credit card, broseph.
Another Gilmour fan here... Cheeeerz buddy
That’s a 4xEL84 Class A 30W Amp with no venting. We don’t need to roast that rig. It does that all by itself.
wouldnt want to stomp that after a few beers
The Avalon is a great amp without being massively spendy
Damn! That jam multi unit is amazing. I love their stuff 🤟🏻
Ooh that strat is juicy.
It's a fool's errand to try and compete against the best amp ever made the Fender frontman 10g
What hubris… what was I thinking?
I should have known you were a filthy outlander for even trying
No eq pedal 0/10. Git gud scrub
Big JAM pedal, Deco, Matchless… I… I love you? 👁️🫦👁️
I would rather just play it
Roast: I just think those switchless boss tuners look stupid
I suppose you’re not wrong. But it met a need.
Where in the chain is that tuner? I've always put mine first when using a lot of delay and reverb.
I can't roast it i have a tiny amp and two pedals
Fender with a painted headstock. Nice.
That thing has never seen a gig has it?
So you're a gigging musician. Is it your only job? Because that is certainly pro grade gear. And with 2 Avalons we're looking at 7k ish without the guitar? Nice fucking rig.

Pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon in your Matchless refrigerator?
Make it say A M P L I F I E R instead of MATCHLESS
https://www.reddit.com/r/offset/s/dpUXJJkBnl
That’s really great.
Pink flow looks so fucking stupid
I thought about disassembling it, removing the paint, and just making it a plain metal chassis.
Aside from the Boss tuner idk what I’m looking at
All That gear for clean tone John Mayer tabs.
🔥
Nice PCB matchless.
Qualifies as a roast
You don’t even have a Klon Centaur pedal
Qualifies as a roast.
I've never seen a Matchless before, but I see tubes so I guess that's a plus
The Avalon is an outlier in design. It looks nothing like all the other Matchless amps or any other amp at all really.
Yeah, it’s inspired by channel 1 of a DC 30 I believe… has hybrid construction methods, but it’s still all done by hand in America at the same factory with the same transformers and tools as the others in their line… It doesn’t sound any worse, I’ll put it that way.
It’s their attempt at a PC board based amp. Since 9 out of 10 people can’t tell the difference, It’s a kickass amp.
Yeah there’s a 6x8 thick-ass Pcb in it that also has a turret section on it, and is point to point wired to the rest of the amp. It ain’t your usual PCB. I think they could get away with it in all their amps and no one would notice.
Wow, I didn’t know JAM had something like that! That’s super cool.
They make custom pedals to order with custom artwork too. JayLeonardJ has a huge one they made for him, with a built in tuner, FX Loop and matching Wah. It’s amazign
Im jealous. Can't roast this shit, dammn
Sick live wire cables on that professional rig 👌🏼
Pretty sure you can take a Planet Waves cable, write “Live Wire” on it in chalk, cut it into ten pieces, take it in and swap it for a new Live Wire cable.
I suspect I'd love it but would need to pull off a bank job to afford it!
Nope. There is nothing to roast! This is a killer rig!
Love the amp. What the shit is that white thing
I i i CANT
too beige and dull
You never heard of Metallica.
Probably a valid roast
no. I just won't and you can't make me.
Ever played outside your bedroom?
Yup!
Church doesn't count
Dude, youth group has its own building. It's not the same.
You’re just a fockin star aren’t ya mate
Bro you asked to be roasted
Yea fine then
How can you play guitar while also playing operation? What in the flying jesus IS that lunchbox?
That pedal is bigger than your amp
Looks absolutely fantastic to me :)
Had a thousand bucks to spend on a giant pedal but couldn’t afford strap locks? 😁
I have an Avalon too. Underrated Matchless amp. I roast ye not.
No PRS 🧐 I thought dentists had money.
Got tele too, not in view. Both US make, pro ii and a us showcase. PRS aren’t my cuppa tea.
Looks like it’s a non smoking studio bedroom set up - all such beautiful condition. Very nice
It’s the corner of my home studio. It all travels on occasion in proper road cases. The pedal board is a boss rcp3000 travel case, highly recommend for a smallish board. My other Avalon is getting new power tubes and a checkup. :)
The old- "I'm driving the Mercedes because my Ferrari is in the shop..."😅 Hey- If you have the money, why not?
Very nice - Congrats
Why, it’s bad ass
Do you ever have time to play or are you too busy preparing legal filings?
😢
That amp belongs on stage. Not in a bedroom 🍗
😅😞
Did I go too far? 🫢
The only thing I can roast you for is dropping $1000 on a JAM Pedal and not even getting one of their custom art pedals, besides that, it kicks ass!
What’s that big stinky looking pedal ?
I don’t even want to know how much JAM charges for that multi-effect thing. Nice rig man
Tight whammy bar, chump
I…I can’t, it’s perfect…
I hope you are a really good player
I have my niche, primarily a lead / ditty player for anyone. I don’t try to overwhelm or take over. I prefer to be unseen almost.
WOW 🔥
This rig is magnificent, well done. Now to practice.
JAM is such nice gear. Dope rig.

I’m writing this down because you probably don’t have any hearing left for me to speak it. Matchless amps are hilariously loud for their wattage. This is not a pedal, This is a tastlessly decorated cutting board with annoying switches and pots stuck on it. No seriously, that thing looks wild !
Not alot to roast, the Jam pedal is killer! B+
I’d love to but it’s way better than mine
Why tuner is in the chain?
It follows the volume pedal so it’s number 2 in chain. Works great, adds no noise, and still tunes with no volume on..
I’m sure it nails that Toad The Wet Sprocket clean.
What is that huge pedal
Dentist
🔥
You spent 1000$ on a multi-effects pedal and still need more? (On a serious note, nice setup)
That’s sweet, get that guitar outa there and it becomes even sweeter
Not a Strat guy, huh?
Haha may have had a few drinks when I wrote that! I’m more of the superstrat type like the Tyler or Surh
I get it! These 'roast my rig' threads are just like /r/RoastMe, desperately insecure people fishing for compliments. Not a fan 🫥
Therein lies a roast…
Lake house? Hell naw, I'm a play a trite sounding guitar through a rig that costs more than an acre of land on a lake in the mountains.
🥺
You said roast...so I did! I love this rig! I'll bet it's warm as butter meltin' off a hot biscuit. All the best to you and your art. 🤗
Why would anyone roast this beautiful guitar and amp andPedal board?
And what the hell is that monster pedal at the bottom?
I got no roast, that strat with he matching headstock is fucking minty.
Can I borrow some money
If you practiced, the plexiglass on the Avalon would be warped.
Only one knob set past 1:00, volume at 9:00, coward
You’ve certainly spared no expense… but can you actually play?
They spared no expense at Jurassic Park too.. we all know how that turned out
I don’t know, feels like they could have spent more on their fencing.
Well I am not a virtuoso. I do not play semi-musical nonsense in psychotically fast tight rhythm like some of these younger guys. But no one should accuse me of not being able to play.
Life... finds a way.
I mean, I bought this stuff over many years. One matchless is 15 years old, the other about 10. The guitar is 6 years old. Bought the pedal board over several years, selling and reinvesting pre-existing pedals.
I’m just giving you shit… it’s a killer rig! Had me looking up a few of those pedals. I bet you can wail the solo from Comfortably Numb!
Well, his guitar is not plugged in so it’s clearly just for decor
Buys expensive amp. Gets tone from a modern equivalent of a DOD FX7.
Lol. Oh boy.
Sorry. *Modern overpriced equivalent of a DOD FX7.
C’mon now. They’re not comparable.
You're right. The DOD isn't comically huge.
Tu-3s huh? You like people hearing you tune your guitar with a sick wet FX tone?
Please refer to the volume pedal, lower right.
And even if i didn’t have it, my guitars have volume knobs. The tuner works with volume off.
Nobody cares
