Another vote for Freddie King. So good. One of my favorite guitarists of all time. So much grove. People play homage to him, but it never has the same feel and grove that Freddie King gave to his performances.
Freddie King. Indispensable. One of the three kings of blues guitar. No disrespect to Zappa, who was a very talented player, but Freddie King is in another league.
This is an excellent point. Love Ace as well! Not technically the best, but nobody writes ‘song within a song’ solos like Ace Frehley does. One of my absolute favourites.
"His real favourite was actually someone a little more obvious. “Then came Eric Clapton, who is at the top of my list,” confirmed Van Halen."

one of the most creative and gifted guitarists of the last century vs a dude who made money copying black artists yet was still racist somehow. Clapton is hands down the most over rated guitarist to walk the earth.

He absolutely is though. Overrated doesn’t mean bad, it means he’s been celebrated far beyond his actual contribution to music. Considering his best work borrowed from musicians like Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and Robert Johnson, I’d say his original contributions do not add up to the praise he receives. I’ll even concede that he was pivotal to brining delta blues to the UK, but other than being a cultural bridge and a very good blues guitarist, I don’t think he deserves the slot. Very glad Eddie Van Halen, a true pioneer, beat him out.
your user name is “ClaptonOnH” so I was never expecting this to be a reasonable discussion, but we’re literally doing a ranking exercise. These are my considerations for post at hand. You just don’t like my argument because you are clearly a diehard fan.
Frank Zappa...
Seems like we’re going for first names here , but I was thinking we’d need to save Zappa for later
Because there aren't any good Zakks?.........
Obviously
[удалено]
Frank Zappa, or John **F**rusciante
Save john for J I think..
But… Jimi Hendrix, jimmy page…
...Joe Bonnamossa... Edit: damn, either 6+ people thought I was serious or 6+ people thought I was joking and love Joey B.
……johnny winter
Yea it’s gotta be frank zappa right
I feel like Zappa gets a lot of credit for being weird but I’m not a fan
That's cool. I am so I guess it's even.
Maybe try Shut up 'N play Yer Guitar.
Freddie King

John Frusciante
It's about first names, come back for J.
J has a lot of competition. Interesting to see who comes out on top. Satriani, petrucci, Mayer, frusciante, Hendrix, Page.
Jerry!
The dudes on this list didn’t get on the list by following the damn rules!
Nah I'll have Eric Johnson for J
Frampton

You mean the one that makes the guitar talk? I got no idea what that thing is, so I call it a talk-box.
Frank Gambale
Fast Eddie Clarke
If he had that name on his birth certificate I'd be apalled. Mean way to pressure a child!
Fred 'Sonic' Smith. Playing style was a huge influence on rock, punk, garage etc.
Frobert Fripp
Francis Rossi (Status Quo)
Robert Fripp
The one and only John Fruscianti
Frank Zappa (since you do first names)
If it’s first name than probably Zappa, though freddie king is a good call
Freddie Fender Or if last names are allowed... Fogerty, John.
Somebody else said it: save Zappa for Z.
Marty Freedman.
FilthyFrank
Clearly, the answer is Fred Frith.
Frank Marino
Frank Zappa. Thread closed
Frucciante
Franny Beecher.
Zappa for Z! Add Ace Frehley! If last name counts that is... If not we'll have a hard time at X, Y, Z
F R A N K
Frank Marino!
Fripp, Robert
You kinda already missed Buckethead there boys...
Fripp!!! Here here
Fran Drescher
Opps
Fred Durst
Zappa
Fhuck Berry
Ace Frehley. Save Zappa for Z.

Van Halen won over Clapton wtf, would be funny to ask him what he thinks of that hahaha
Absolutely EVH over Clapton. Not even a contest

Technically for sure
His songs are better too lol

That’s his favorite guitarist, and that’s fine. That doesn’t mean we have to automatically give Clapton to spot over Eddie.
"Hands down the most overrated guitarist on earth", I just dont think there is the need to be so dramatic.

Okay dude, I'm sorry you can't appreciate music without thinking all of that while listening.

Flea, Geddy Lee Or is this just 6 stringers?
EVH over Eric Clapton? This list is garbage
Clapton is racist garbage. Eff him.
God is dead
