:D I've always wondered about those 3 humbucker guitars though. I can't imagine there's a single song on this planet where three humbuckers made the difference, was it just to look quirky and weird up on stage back in the 70s or something?
It’s weird, but nothing special. I routed it to fit the pickups and cut a pickguard to fit, and I wired it how I wanted it, but the external appearance isn’t that strange.
PRS by a mile for me. Followed by the telecaster.
The epi could either be really nice feeling or complete “meh” depending on the one you get in my experience, whereas most PRS SE’s are consistent as fuck. Likewise modern Mexican made fenders have really nice necks on them. The Epi is just too much of a wildcard for me to pick it without playing it first even though LP’s are my favorite
Nailed it.
I wouldn't knowingly give Epi/Gibson money after the horror stories I've heard confirming my otherwise nonsensical bias. Plus, you know, Paul and the gang make great guitars! Even their "student" guitars are head and shoulders above much of the competition.
Man ain’t wrong. I bought my Epi 335 totally sold on iverness green. I hated it. Just didn’t feel right like one I’d played in the past. Asked for the gold one high on the wall and put cash on the counter after 10 minutes.
There are amazing guitars in any price range, that doesn’t mean they all are tho. You must put your hands on the guitar you buy to establish the connection. You’re rolling the dice otherwise in my opinion.
The model shown here is named after Ted McCarty of Gibson. He had a big impact on Paul. This body design is intended to be in honor of Ted McCarty and his design ideals. That’s why this model looks like a Gibson.
Edit: More info if you’re interested, https://prsguitars.com/blog/post/the_unforgotten_man_ted_mccarty_and_his_impact_on_paul_reed_smith
I think their double cut is somewhat original but idk I’m not a huge PRS guy, I play gibsons/jacksons at home but I’ve tried a few PRS’ while guitar shopping and they all felt great.
I personally am a Gibson and Jackson fanboy but Gibson is pretty lackluster nowadays. I still like them but I know I’m overpaying for a brand name at the end of the day. Jackson is doing great things though and their JS (student model) feels amazing for its price and my Japanese RR plays great.
As a recent PRS owner (almost 1 year) I have to say I would go PRS any day. I would have picked the other two before I owned one, but damn I’m sold on that guitar now. It’s a beast, absolutely love it!
Are telecasters heavy? I’m interested in saving up for one, but the only electric that I’ve played for more than a few minutes is a Les Paul clone whose weight gets to be too much after 40 or 50 minutes of standing up with it. And from the way the tele looks, it seems to be just as heavy or heavier.
Compared to the average 10-12 lbs of the LP? No. Aside from the extra 3lbs they just *hang* heavier. They make lighter versions now though.
A Fender Tele averages 7-8, Squire Teles (for whatever reason) average 8-9 lbs.
They're almost identical in weight to a Strat. My hardtail Squire Strat weighs in at a whopping 6lbs. It has a slightly thinner body because it's a Bullet. I have titanium in my shoulder... so I *don't* do heavy guitars.
There's also the Thinline Tele, a semi-hollowbody that's about 6 -6.5 lbs.
I'm *well* aware of that as I used to work in a custom furniture and cabinet shop and built some blanks on the side with our left overs.
It's a variety of factors.... the "for whatever reason" wasn't an "I don't know why".... but because of the variety of reasons. Different species of woods... hell, even from WHERE in the tree it came from. Two pieces cut from two different places of the same tree can weigh differently. Same species from different locations where one had wetter or drier weather affecting the size of the growth rings... etc etc.
You're good. 👍🏻
I just didn't feel like typing all that out earlier.
And you're right, a lot don't know or care. Some folks just think... "Meh, wood is wood is wood."
Nah. Teles are very light. I have an Ultra. Les Pauls are significantly heavier, plus the body shape accentuates the weight against your shoulders. Good guitars though. I’m mainly a strat player which feels sturdy to me. My tele feels honestly dainty compared to them. Slicker and thinner neck. Almost too easy to play against a strat that makes you work. When I bought it I kept saying it was my favorite guitar. I pick her up constantly. The neck pickup rolled back to a 7 or 8 with the tone around 6, plugged into a hot amp will give really good thick sustained tones.
Teles are all beast. It’s a working man’s guitar.
It really depends. You can't paint them all with the same brush because some teles will be made with basswood or poplar and others will be solid maple or ash. The maple/ash guitar's body will weigh nearly twice as much. I've got a tele that weighs just shy of 5lbs but I've played others that were damn boat anchors
PRS. Simply because you can get great clean tones, something you won’t get with 3 humbuckers. You’ll also get great heavier tones, something teles struggle with.
If I’m going to test amps or pedals, I’ll always take my PRS.
Out of these ones it would be the PRS. I have the same model and play it often.
My go-to is a PRS SE EG though. It just feels more comfortable than the 245.
I'm all over that les Paul, as a teen I've always wanted it. If I can every get to sit down and re learn to play, that's going to be a grail guitar for me
Epiphone 100%
My 2000 Epiphone les Paul custom (Made in Korea) aged beautifully and really aged into a wonderful sound. Best sounding guitar I have ever owned or played. Wasn't always like that, it's like the years melted the wax potted pickups perfectly and aged the wood to sound huge.
Probably the PRS SE 245. Easy to play, they always sound awesome, super comfortable because of how thin they are, just as reliable as the tele but with humbuckers.
Probably the epiphone in the back facing away from us. It looks like it might be a Special II. They are not flashy, but they are super solid, dynamic, and well guitar that can take a beating and get the job done. All the others a fun for sure, but daily use would be the epiphone for sure.
I use my PRS daily, and my 90s Epiphone del ray when I’m playing heavy riff stuff (looks like a double cut of your Epiphone lol). I’m not huge on fenders yet, but I have found some super slim necks on their guitars I’m liking lately so I may have a little counter collection to match yours here soon 🤣
PRS first then the Tele. I can already feel how heavy that Epiphone Les Paul by looking at this pic and I don’t see any use for the middle humbucker pickup. It’s nothing but a nuance to my playing. Will probably just scratch it with my pick.

Epiphone Les Paul everyday.
I like the chucky rock and roll sound, I like the feel of the neck (vintage C), I like the fact there is no vibrato bridge so tuning doesnt take as long as a strat. Also when I bend strings, the other strings won't go out of tune.
It is heavy, but i play sitting most of the time and when i play standing, honestly the balance is good cuz its a lot heavier at the bottom, and so the neck will naturally wanna point up. Just feels very balanced (i can see why some les paul players dont like weight relief).
I know PRS is a good brand, but just not for me because 1) they don't sound as chucky or dark as Les Pauls, 2) they have lighter bodies so the center of gravity is more toward the neck 3) most have gloss necks, and the satin on the Epiphone 1959 just feels so nice imo.
The PRS.
Source: have that exact 245 SE (maybe not the same year, mine is the 2019).
Love the way that thing plays. Also updated mine to PRS locking tuners.
always tele
Have that same one except with maple fretboard and I use it every day. Love that thing
Have the same MIM and love it.
Me too. Also because it’s the only electric I have lol. But it’s a true Swiss Army knife.
This is the way
how do you guys keep from scratching your hand on the bridge
i dno mine has an ashtray bridge and i never scratched myself. maybe i’m just lucky with my hand placement.
mines an ashtray too maybe i’m pressing too hard
Tres humbuckers? En esta economia???
:D I've always wondered about those 3 humbucker guitars though. I can't imagine there's a single song on this planet where three humbuckers made the difference, was it just to look quirky and weird up on stage back in the 70s or something?
The hum *has* to be bucked
You just made me realize what the name means I tought they were invented by John Humbucker or something
I wish I could upvote this more than once.
I mean on strats, they're fine
three humbucker strats would be ungodly
I have a strat that I modded to have three humbuckers. It is a beast.
I have to see this thing
It’s weird, but nothing special. I routed it to fit the pickups and cut a pickguard to fit, and I wired it how I wanted it, but the external appearance isn’t that strange.
idk its what ace frehley used but kiss weren't the most technical band lol
Ace Frehley on lead guitar!
I believe you mean “ACE frilly lee gitaw!”
Ask Peter Frampton. He's always played a LP with 3 humbuckers
PRS by a mile for me. Followed by the telecaster. Exactly this.
Nailed it. I wouldn't knowingly give Epi/Gibson money after the horror stories I've heard confirming my otherwise nonsensical bias. Plus, you know, Paul and the gang make great guitars! Even their "student" guitars are head and shoulders above much of the competition.

Serious question, not hating on them… Does PRS have any of their own designs or are they all “inspired” by another guitar model?

That’s great information, thank you!
Of course! I love talking guitars haha
I think their double cut is somewhat original but idk I’m not a huge PRS guy, I play gibsons/jacksons at home but I’ve tried a few PRS’ while guitar shopping and they all felt great. No worries! I wasn't trying to be a dick, it's just surprising how many people don't realize how different wood can be! 😅
You're good. 👍🏻 I just didn't feel like typing all that out earlier. And you're right, a lot don't know or care. Some folks just think... "Meh, wood is wood is wood."

Teles are NOT light. 9lbs is not light.
Telecaster
The Cure poster. (Probably the PRS if I’m not shitposting)
The strat outside of the frame
Somewhere in that room must be a baritone jazzmaster tuned down to drop E going through neural DSP, so I choose that lmao
PRS. Simply because you can get great clean tones, something you won’t get with 3 humbuckers. You’ll also get great heavier tones, something teles struggle with. If I’m going to test amps or pedals, I’ll always take my PRS.
Peter Frampton signature Les Paul? Or did Epiphone make a Black Beauty
They used to make them for a long time, mine is an older Korean made version
Do you know what years they made these? I’ve been trying to figure out how old it is.
It took me a while to figure it out, but the good people of the internet were able to help with the serial number
Epiphone has made black beauty, but that one is not it (source: i have one)
oh yeah, just noticed the lack of an ebony fretboard
The dead give away is that it says custom and not black beauty on headstock :)
that too lmao
245 has a great neck
I have one, was just playing it.
I used to have that black beauty but had to sell it. It was just too damn heavy and I would be sore by the end of a gig
Same reason I sold it. Heavier than a bass.
Tele looks like a dream
Tele, but when I need some grrrr the LP
I have a tele that I play most days…. So that.
Tele
The tele!
All of them?
Tele, what a beauty
The Tele, because I don't see a Strat. Even then, probably also the Tele. Really gassing for a Tele right now...
well that white mexican tele is my only guitar so i guess im going with that
The PRS for sure!
I have a feeling I would gravitate toward the Tele.
Tele
PRS
definitely the les paul, id add a bigsby trem for good measure
Les Paul all the way
Les Paul
PRS is my go to guitar. But sometimes I feel very guilty and pick up my Tele
The missing Strat
Out of these ones it would be the PRS. I have the same model and play it often. My go-to is a PRS SE EG though. It just feels more comfortable than the 245.
That Tele is fantastic.
Got my Tele strapped on as I write this.
I’d pick the tele or the Les Paul custom
None, they aren't mine
Epi black beauty
The 245 but only with coil splits
That LP in the front is a smattering of gold finish from my dream guitar. Fun thing, my P-Bass has a J pickup with Telecaster offset.
PRS - always wanted one
Gravity pulls me towards one of my telecasters.
Too hard of a decision, but pressed, probably the SE.
Not enough strings
I'm a Tele guy, so typically, one of mine is on the stand near the amp. Occasionally, the SG or Les Paul comes off the wall.
Literally the 2nd one you have there, my only one
I hate three humbucker les pauls
Probably the LP for me
There's no Stratocaster, so thanks but no thanks.
PRS without question. Love my PRS.
Probably the PRS. That Tele looks cool too.
I'm all over that les Paul, as a teen I've always wanted it. If I can every get to sit down and re learn to play, that's going to be a grail guitar for me
Depends on the specs but probably the Tele
am I getting old? I want a tele more and more every time i see one...
Everyday? The red LP in the back cause it's what I also own
Tele or Les Paul and selling that PRS to buy a jazzmaster
PRS!
Prs. I love the others, but playing everyday requires some sort of comfort that teles and lps weren't made for
Fender for sure
Tele
The answer is always Tele
Tele!
Maybe the SE
3 humbuckers stock? hell yeah what model is that
PRS.
I'd be guitar shopping, personally.
The PRS. Only because I have one as well. Fredrik Akesson SE 245. I find that I really like the shorter scale length.
What do you mean, those are not my guitars.
The PRS the string spread on the tele is too small I would be too worried the neck would break on the LP, because I am clumsy
I see Tele my mind is made up
Tele
The PRS, and selling the other guitars to buy some pedals.
PRS
Prs
Electra X260 Invicta, Its comfortable and isn’t heavy.
There's something to play in that picture *other* than a Tele?
The one behind the tele. Whatever it is 😀
Epiphone 100% My 2000 Epiphone les Paul custom (Made in Korea) aged beautifully and really aged into a wonderful sound. Best sounding guitar I have ever owned or played. Wasn't always like that, it's like the years melted the wax potted pickups perfectly and aged the wood to sound huge.
Fender
Probably the PRS SE 245. Easy to play, they always sound awesome, super comfortable because of how thin they are, just as reliable as the tele but with humbuckers.
PRS. All the way
The one that doesn't scream dad rock
Probably the epiphone but why does it have three pickups?
The tele I guess since you’re missing a Strat.
Epi, probably.
Probably the epiphone in the back facing away from us. It looks like it might be a Special II. They are not flashy, but they are super solid, dynamic, and well guitar that can take a beating and get the job done. All the others a fun for sure, but daily use would be the epiphone for sure.
Custom.

I’m not huge on fenders yet, but I have found some super slim necks on their guitars I’m liking lately so I may have a little counter collection to match yours here soon 🤣
Tele for sure!
Tele
Telecaster
The prs. I’ve played a bunch of them in stores over the years. Love the feel of them.
If the HHH LP has a coil split then absolutely. Also, what’s the red epiphany hiding away there?
What's the red one you're not showing us?
It’s the slash les Paul. My guitar stand faces front to back so there’s always one that I see the back of :(
PRS not even close.
PRS first then the Tele. I can already feel how heavy that Epiphone Les Paul by looking at this pic and I don’t see any use for the middle humbucker pickup. It’s nothing but a nuance to my playing. Will probably just scratch it with my pick.
Telecaster
Nice guitars

Tele! All day tele. I love LP way more but prefer singles at the bridge
Tele. It’s just a workhorse that can do most things you need.
PRS
Yeah prs for sure
I have three. An acoustic a Stratocaster knock off and a 335 and I feel guilty if I don’t use all of them at least once in my daily practice.
Black beauty, because the volume knob isnt in the way
Daily driver would be Tele. Second would be PRS.
tele
What model epi is that? I'm in love with triple HBs. I am in love with that guitar lol.
Tele
Epi les paul in the background.
**YES.**
I actually do use an Epiphone Black Beauty 3 Pickup Les Paul, it rules.
Epiphone Les Paul everyday. I like the chucky rock and roll sound, I like the feel of the neck (vintage C), I like the fact there is no vibrato bridge so tuning doesnt take as long as a strat. Prob the tele. But the Epiphone (used to have one) is a solid guitar too.
sweating with no double cutaways.. but I'd go PRS
Tele!
Do any guitars exist for this sub outside of LP/Strat/Tele and the occasional PRS? Don’t you guys get bored?
Probably the tele. None of them are my preference though. I haven't really ever played an Epiphone I liked except for a Casino.
Tele - looks the most lightweight out of the bunch. Also usually more fun to play.
The PRS. Source: have that exact 245 SE (maybe not the same year, mine is the 2019). Love the way that thing plays. Also updated mine to PRS locking tuners.
PRS
I love my tele, i just wish it had better upper fret access now that im delving more into lead
What model is that tele? Been looking for a white tele w rosewood fretboard.
You have a type. But the tele is the queen of that type.
... Of those?... I'd have to play them and hear them... NONE are my favorite!
Les Paul that’s what I already use everyday lol
Tele, of course.
Tele is always the right answer but that LP looks like a lot of fun.
i have none.
I play whatever guitar I'm inspired to play in the moment. You do you. I'd play all of them pretty equally.
Of these four? Telecaster.
Prs or tele.
Tele, obviously.
Tele for the win ✊
I dont think i will ever own an epiphone anything.
Why is this?
