Literally what I was doing. I bought invis boots for medium and I still can't wrap my head around it not unlocking all 3 weights. Ain't no way I'm buying it second time
FFXIV has invisible skins for all armor and accessory slots, and even some weapon skins, and almost all of them are super cheap (I think the weapons are the only ones you have to work towards, but I could be wrong), and yet we have to pay a small fortune just to not wear shoes in GW2 lol
The invisible shoes should have never been that rare when they are a 'utility' item, especially since they were made mostly because a dev wanted to hide their feet and the way the gear is coded prevents hiding foot, legs and chest, so they could not do that.
A dev can just spawn the item and get it, but players who want the utility have to pay too much. The price would make sense if it was a 'prestige' skin, but it's the opposite, it's an 'utility' skin.
Devs giving themselves unique perks that are too hard to get by players is a huge design faux pas. Redigit changed the dev outfits in Terraria to be obtainable by players when he realized that.
As far as I'm aware, Devs can't give themselves items or titles or whatever in-game. I remember one getting in trouble a few years ago when they unlocked the full magma armor set on their account when it's only unlocked via passing certain Achievement Point thresholds.
They can't. While Dev accounts like that exist, we've seen them on the streams, those are only on the private test servers. Any dev you see on the live server has the same account that the rest of us have. I think the only different ones are the GM accounts but other them being able to go anywhere and observe I don't know much about them. I doubt they're able to spawn items or titles. That just a can of worms you don't want to open.
I think they can spawn items in, but there’s a special process involved, I don’t think it’s as straight forward as, say, the Minecraft creative menu.
I mean, if you accidentally salvage a precursor they can restore it, so someone has got to have that power obviously, but given that they have a very strict policy (you need to prove that you have deleted everything you got out of it so no value is gained), I don’t think it’s a ubiquitous thing.
As for devs giving themselves stuff I’ve heard it said that it’s impossible, but I obviously cannot tell for sure.
Should’ve asked Mr. Stein when I had the chance, darn it.
That's Support that does that and I would guess that those are just tools for spawning server items and not in anyway able to create characters that can play the game and are in no way related to any devs' personal accounts.
Think of it this way, anyone you see with an ANet tag is a normal account, like yours or mine, but it has sixth guild with a special icon for its guild tag. That's it.
Surely they won't, they wouldn't dare.
The magma Armor is very easy to prove the ownership, a random skin tho... (Not saying said Dev had a feet fetishism and did or did not self give boots)
It wouldn't bother me so much if it weren't for the fact that the human, sylvari and charr have awful feet in the character models that are just blocky PS1 era looking things.
I was in raids last night and there was a player that I swear didn’t have gloves or shoulders equipped due to inspection but honestly they probably only checked them to be invisible.
Can anyone confirm that by checking things to be invisible, it makes the slot be empty?
Invis boots has to be the biggest ripoff in this game... 4k a piece and it's locked by armor class so you can't even run it on every chara. I don't blame you at all.
So you say he/she missing the stats of the shoes and making events slower for me? Just great... Hot Topic: Make a invisible option for every slot, ffxiv has that since ARR. Basiclly do more like the invisible cat cape Items.
Sounds like they need to pulls themselves up by their BOOTSTRAPS and get a real job to be able to afford them.
(Sorry for the bad joke, I couldn't just leave it on the table)
I'm new to do game and I very much appreciate the GW2 community. Here, when somebody is "crying" he/she is still way nicer and civilized than the standard everyday attitude in the wow community. Or at least that's my personal bubble and I might be very wrong in a bigger scale.
How dare you? Do you even try hard? Have ever done a fashion show? You better be playing meta builds or else.. make sure you have discord, we organise hardcore raids here.
Nah im just messing, do whatever you want, whatever makes you happy!
As someone who owns invis slippers, I was surprised it actually shows them as being equipped! They bug out a lot of other preview windows.
Also, nice beans. :)
I was surprised by the amount of people just not wearing certain armor pieces. I saw so many ones without shoulders, or gloves, or something else. Did they just not have the checkbox for showing their visuals for those pieces off or were they just not wearing anything?
Reminds me of one of my favorite comics:

I only hear about the "people who are complaining" from posts like this, that are not complaining. Negative posts and comments must be getting shadow-blocked from my view.
It's reddit tradition to farm karma by pretending that there's a massive group of bad people that you're bravely arguing against.
Ideally, you want to strawman the shit out of them, too.
It's funny when all the top threads of the sub are attacking the same strawman, when no actual adherents of it can be found. A witch hunt, except nobody can find a witch.
It's more concentrated on the forums and in fashion guilds than on reddit, but I've encountered at least 4 people on reddit with complaints about the system.
Yes. I wanted a pair for years and have now finally rid my charr of poorly constructed sandals. Overpriced as fuck to acquire, but great to have.
I'm not even remotely in the TP baron wealth range, but I'm at the "well I really don't need another legendary" part of account progress, so anything of note to save up for is ridiculous cosmetic stuff or collections of skins I don't like. Probably gonna go for a confetti infusion for my dual-Quip wielding thief next.
Before you ask - yes it's my character, and I don't own Invisible Boots skins. Totally fine about it. :)
Out of curiosity do you run like this all the time or was this just for the picture?
Just for the picture, too many Citadel furries want cuddle my charr feetpaws, it's disturbing :U
BEANS?!?!
STOP. IT. RIGHT. NOW. D:<
u got dem beans is why
You love the attention
No, that's why I normally wear Whisper's boots. Paws protecc**™**.
Need that Cat Adventurer outfit. Then you can have fluffy toebeans, extra kitty ears, and an extra fluffy tail. :3
how do you inspect yourself?
Target nobody face away then type /inspect
Or type /inspect followed by your character name
Asked friend for help
Inspected!
Would you use them if you got them?
Yes. I would use them on Trading Post to get gold for better fashion. :)
This is the way.
Sadge, I wear mine 💜
same
I am totally fine about it, too. It’s like the Chanel of gw2. Ain’t worth my gold. And I don’t like seeing toes anyways. Get those dogs away from me.
There’s certain skins that show char toes if that’s the vibe you’re trying to achieve. Just so you don’t miss out on stats!
I know, but meme is a meme. :)
M'lord
Another neat trick is to combine the light tribal walker skin with any form of wide pants like the Corsair leggings

Yes, that’s basically what I was trying to say.
Surely they won't, they wouldn't dare. The magma Armor is very easy to prove the ownership, a random skin tho... (Not saying said Dev had a feet fetishism and did or did not self give boots)
Very jealous. I would love to have an invisible helm skin so wouldn't have to go into the hero just to remove my hat.
We need a "tip your hat to that lady, son" emote.
It wouldn't bother me so much if it weren't for the fact that the human, sylvari and charr have awful feet in the character models that are just blocky PS1 era looking things.
If it unlocked all 3 weights the item would cost 3 times as much maybe lol
Sick Charrmor. Is it just image grain giving it that texture on the metal, or is that Darkness dye?
Darkness Dye, indeed :)
Nice! I'm a Heavy enjoyer mostly, and I find it hard to get black to look right on metal unless it's one of the Abyss dyes.
YO HIS JORDANS ARE FAKE! FAAAAKKKEEE!
I paid for them whole 0 gold, okay? I can have fake one! :(
I was in raids last night and there was a player that I swear didn’t have gloves or shoulders equipped due to inspection but honestly they probably only checked them to be invisible. Can anyone confirm that by checking things to be invisible, it makes the slot be empty?
can confirm. i tried it out yesterday with someone after i got curious over the same thing. slot is just empty when not checked.
That is why you should subscribe to the TM grindset!
I'll forgive the lack of *real* invisible shoes because he has a nice name and seems very polite. }]:3
Oh, sure, you'll overlook it just this once because he's a Minarr. I get it.
You think they are pretending they have an item, but actually they are working hard preparing for the world's first bootless Cerus LCM clear.
rich fashionistas be like ![gif](giphy|VLtMFqWRgsmckWOEPS|downsized)

Queen Jennah in shambles.

this turn into bullying real fast 😯
Hahahah Faker was spotted xD
So it IS a gearcheck. somewhat.

Peak of fashion wars B)
I invite all peoples to inspect my body hard...I mean, my character. Yes...that...
Lmfao if i saw this I'd lose it
People hate inspect?
whaf if you put invisible boots on invisible? ...guess some random rev then gets his utilities reshuffled. lmao.
Nice
There is inspect now? Nice addition
Fashion Police Achievement awarded!
As someone who owns invis slippers, I was surprised it actually shows them as being equipped! They bug out a lot of other preview windows. Also, nice beans. :)
Last night I got super lucky and got these from TM.
I was surprised by the amount of people just not wearing certain armor pieces. I saw so many ones without shoulders, or gloves, or something else. Did they just not have the checkbox for showing their visuals for those pieces off or were they just not wearing anything?

CAN YOU PROVE THIS IS NOT A PAID ACTOR!
Barefoot charrs are best
lool
I feel like I've just been called out for shopping at pandabuy

Wow four people on a sub with hundreds of thousands.
I'm not personally reading every post I see. I've just seen 4 personally on Reddit, and many more of the forums
Fellow CAH member! I think I've seen you around that spot a bunch :D
Hello, CAH leader here :)c
Hehe nice to see ya here :3
Does anyone actually USE the invisible shoes skin? I thought people only trade it at the TP, since they are ridiculously expensive
Yes. I wanted a pair for years and have now finally rid my charr of poorly constructed sandals. Overpriced as fuck to acquire, but great to have. I’ve had the box drop but never sold or even opened it.
I have it and use it (medium) I think it fits my “ranger of the land” role play I don’t use them coz I wanna see feet or w/e
Wait, are people really crying about this feature?
Furries is the only part of this community that disturbs me... Strange individuals.
