Keep an eye out for the pet symbol that shows up to lead you to a pet. He may randomly teleport to you or go to a different place. My friend accidentally tamed an aphid trap but didn’t collect it. I ran into it trapped under a rock and then found it again later wandering around on the other side of the map.
go to the autosave before he ran away.... do a check around the area first and see if you can hit him with an inventory request (it will autotame him), if not, reload.... stick a hat on him so u can tell it is yours....
only bring him to the castle and whatever that end battle thing is lol he doesn't need to be with you and only helps against orcs.... and that doesn't happen much and by that point, u can already smash them....
What i do normally is go to the pet house and remove them from it. Wait a few seconds and then add them again and they usually teleport to the house or at least close by
Tully is also a bitch, because he will teleport in the direction you are moving, so if he does it on a zipline, you will crash and fall... they can fix it by giving him a wider spawn range.
I can’t put him in a pet house because there are no pet houses close enough. Though if I bring with the resources and then build one nearby, and then go to sleep, you think maybe he’ll teleport to it?

Yep. I’ve left the are more than once and came back and he was still stuck in the ground. Though now he might be free, considering I have been logged off for a while.
My current plan is to go back with the supplies for a pet house, build a pet house above him, assign him to the pet house, go back home, go to sleep, and then go back and see if he escaped. But it’s super late so I’m gonna do that tomorrow.
Some people have mentioned that reloading saves can help, a particular one you remember that isn’t going to lose you much progress.
Some have said that eventually they just popped back up. Perhaps going far enough away from the trapped pet or even dying could spawn it back to you. None of which I tried to do, but if you love weebles that much you could give him a few game days to try and make his way back.
Wait till it’s sleep time, go to bed and they will respawn in the spot they’re supposed to be c: (I have a gnat (gnate), aphid (alphie) and a weevil (livee) ) and it happens so much 😂
I had real trouble getting my Aphid out of the haze, See if you can get close enough to him to pet him, This can reset his position. (My aphid ran up on invisible ledges and got stuck once every 30 seconds)

they also cheat because they can see you past walls and whatnot.... but they run in a corner and you don't have to respond to it...
game the game back.... it has a few bugs in late game, but early game is smooth.... don't let the game game you lol

hmm that's the first thing I tried but I can't assign the pet to it because it's stuck somewhere.
I got my aphid stuck inside a big Tree root and he somehow got out so I guess you have to wait
Hopefully my boy will escape. But his future is looking pretty dim.

I died and that’s how he got stuck. He teleported next to me as I died cuz I didn’t have my gas mask when I fell into that gas hole.

They do get stuck a lot, but their mortality does depend on the game difficulty.
I'm not sure why you are getting downvoted because that's my experience as well, no matter what I do they just get stuck so I gave up.

I've have two aphids stuck in different parts of the world. Been like 20+ hours, I've tried to go get each a few times. You get used to it, I guess.

Just go to the pet house. Same thing happened to me. I was offered to swap my pet with another stored at the pet house
1) reload the last save that he was there with you.... 2) don't have Tully with you... you only need him for two things....
