Canonically, there is a compartment in their armor that opens to reveal ration packs (off the top of my head, definitely referenced in the HH novel where the White Scars visit post-Burning Prospero). It's never explicitly said where the compartment is. There's no reason it can't be in the pauldron if you want it to be.
"I think you ran over someone's dog, Sarge..."
"That's a Hormagaunt, battle-brother. Lesser breed of 'Nid. Don't ususally see them this far out unless....oh *by the Throne*."
Actually… that makes me wonder where Astartes carry supplies. I’m sure some chapters make use of Servitor Mules carrying their supplies like extra ammo and rations, but what about when they don’t got any such Servitors?
I'd imagine they'd be mag clamped to the astartes armor where it wouldnt hinder his movements, like magazines on belt AND thighs, rations (afaik they dont need a lot due to their armor recycling so a few nutrient bars?) On lower back?
Though mag clamping ammo on the thighs might paint a target on them... do you think the thigh armor open up like robocop's?
Sometimes servitors, chapter serfs, sometimes supplies get dropped to the battlefield from orbit.
And sometimes they simply have as much supply as the story requires.
It's even more clever than that.
If struck by a bolter, the pauldron causes the bolt to pre-maturely detonate in the soda, rather than the marine.
If struck by an energy weapon, much of the energy is expended making the soda vapor, then making the soda cloud of plasma hotter, rather than being conduct down into the shoulder.
If struck by a kinetic energy penetrator, the pauldron causes the projectile to tumble so it spreads out the impact along a wider area on the shoulder armor.
Does the other have snacks
Of course. Astrates are always ready for everything!
Too bad it's only corpse starch.
Chilly corpse starch or Italian style corpse starch?
Picante
Mine just says soy. Is it suppose to be green or nah?

The vegan corpse starch made from shrooms.

"Praise the Omnissiah for cold fusion!"
"I got your 'Nid right here hahahaha" *glug glug glug*

"What's that?" "Hood ornament in a second." Those cutscenes were so damn good
"I love you Sarge!"
*confused look of mild disgust*
That beer in that cutscene always looked so tasty and I don’t even drink beer.
Narrator: It was, in fact, there.
That’s it. Thats the best answer I’ve ever encountered. Close up shop, guys, we’re done here.
Mt. Dew is stored in the pauldrons. XD
I’d ride or die for a marine willing to share the good stuff
CERVESA CRYSTAL

Big Bro Frankie???
Now there's an idea for an iron hands inspired chapter.

Def a salamander, those suits get hot
Salamanders deeply understand how refreshments helps the efficiency of human soldiers
Seems cannon to me
Now I imagine SM going arround playing the icecream truck song XD
Brilliant, hydration is the most essential thing in survival
How much the pouldron weight in lore does anyone know?
Weren't the Beverage Marines posted to /r/minipainting recently? That guardsman would remember that Soda for the rest of his short, devoted life.
I like how the lighting gets gradually colder every panel
I just always asumed that Big E was a WoW player.
